Airtunes works on my Dell laptop but cuts out on my Toshiba laptop
I'm running Airtunes on my older Dell 9300 XP laptop with no issues. When I try to do the same on my new Toshiba Vista laptop I get intermitant pauses and cutouts. iPhone remote works perfect with the Dell also, but will lose its connection on the Toshiba. My wireless router is a 2Wire and the Airport express has the latest 7.4.2 firmware. I've updated and rolled back wireless drivers, changed wireless channels, moved closer and further from the router, all with the same results. Both computers are running the same firewalls and have iTunes version 8.2 installed.
I've heard rolling back to an earlier version of iTunes has helped some, but this is not an option because of the iPhone 3.0 software. Any other suggestions would be welcomed.
A few more notes: iPhone remote will crash after connecting to the Toshiba for the first time. It will connect fine on the second attemp. If it (iPhone) looses it's network connection and reconnects it will no longer find the library on the Toshiba under Remote until iTune is restarted, then iTunes will not find the Airtunes speakers, one more iTunes restart and everything is found but the music pauses repeatedly. The Dell has none of these issues.

Windows drivers for Intel wireless cards are known problematic.. If you have plenty of signal and it still cannot keep or hold the connection the issue can simply be the type of wireless.
Another problem is using names that windows does not easily handle.
eg If you set the TC using apple names, like
Fred Blog's Airport Time Capsule wireless24ad12
Then to windows this is too long.. it has spaces and it has illegal character.
Change all names on the TC to suit windows. Short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
Also security must be suitable.. I have no idea how old or what OS your dell is, but if you still have issues.. pull off the security on the TC for a test.. if the computer suddenly works, it is not compatible with WPA2 AES. Make sure you also use a password that is mix upper and lower case plus numbers.. avoid special characters and make it 10-20 characters long say.. it is not required to be more than that unless you are paranoid. -
IPhone Upgrade to 2.0 never worked on my Dell Laptop
I wanted to let other users know that the iPhone Upgrade to 2.0 never worked on my Dell laptop. After trying it many times and restoring, I finally used a MacBook to install the upgrade. After doing this, I restored my iPhone settings and data with my Dell laptop.
BTW, I backed up on both laptop before the upgrade.I had a similar issue when I upgraded last night to 2.0.1...everything went fine no issues last night that I could see...though I didn't make a single call until this morning after doing the upgrade...went to call in to work this morning and couldn't hear them they couldn't hear me and there was no sound whatsoever...turns out that somehow the 2.0.1 update caused my iPhone to go into a staus where it though it had my headphones in all the time...this resolved by following the information on this support document ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1630?viewlocale=en_US ) finally was a reset of the iPhone (step #7) that seemed to resolve it for me...you might want to try this too.

Why, after three months of apple tv working perfectly fine, is it now cutting out constantly and the audio and video out of sinc?
Playing rentals, Netflix, from local iTunes, other?
Firstly restart router and AppleTv after unpowering to see if that helps - may or may not but quick and easy to try.
Connection via ethernet or wifi? If wifi are there any new devices in the house which may be causing interference or new neighbouring networks? If feasible try to eliminate wifi issues by using an ethernet connection.

A few weeks ago i dropped my MacBook Pro (i5 Mid 2012) and it failed to turn on, battery had charge in it at the time.
When i press the power button nothing happens. I have also tried resetting the SMC, nothing happens.
Next i plugged in the mag safe charger, before i pressed the power button i saw the charging light come on for a second then cut out.
If i press the power buttong, nothing happens.
I opened the back of the machine and tried the above steps again to see what happened.
1. When i press the power button nothing happens.
2. When i plugged in the mag safe charger, before ti pressed the power button i see the fan starts to spin for maybe 2 seconds then stops. I hear the hard drive start to spin but that also stops at the same time, during this the front batter charging indicator light also illuminates, but also cuts out.
Its like when you attach the charger it wants to do something but stops everything after 2 seconds. I left it plugged in for maybe 1 min and its just repeated this action maybe 20 times.
At no stage when i press the power buttong, plugged in or not does it react.
I have taken out the hard drive and plugged into another manchine as an external drive and it works perfectly. Hard drive is no problem! From what i can see all connections are ok, and appear to be plugged in correctly, no burn marks or damage visible.
Logic board failure from impact?

Airplay works with Remote but cuts out for every other App
Remote works perfectly fine but whenever I try another AirPlay app it cuts in and out. Driving me crazy. I have att wifi with an airport express. Any ideas? Why would AirPlay work with Remote but fail with every other app?

Burned DVD works fine in a mac but audio out of sync in a DVD player!?
The titles kinda says it all. Nearly. I've made my most complicated (for me) DVD to date. It's a concert DVD shot in anamorphic. I've edited in FCP and exported with compressor with all the appropriate settings, to mpeg 2. I've built the DVD in DVDSP with an intro from motion, motion menus etc. It previews fine and looks outstanding (if I do say so myself!). I burned the finished folder with Toast 8 ( as a UDF) and the burned DVD plays under DVD player on all my macs faultlessly. When I put the DVD in a normal DVD player, the audio is SERIOUSLY out of sync (the dancing is out of time let alone the lip sync) and the picture is stretched wide, like it's trying for 2.35.1 when it's only 16.9 or something.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? All help appreciated.

Double check to make sure that you edited in Anamorphic and also encoded as 16:9 video not 4:3 - also make sure you set the Track to 16:9 Letterbox in DVD SP.
What encoding rates did you use for the video and audio? Sometimes if the rates are too high it can cause drifts.
On the audio side, did you export the FCP as self contained and make the audio AC3? Also you can try just exporting the audio as an AIF and encode that as an AC3.
How did you burn the DVD (Speed and Media used?) Sometimes bad burns/media can cause issues.

Why does my wifi work with my dell but not my new Imac?

I received a 27 LED apple/mac monitor --not the 2011/12 version though.
I want to use with my work computer--a dell laptop. I can't seem to find the right adaptor to connect the two.
I need a dvi port converter that also connects to my vga on my laptop (so need the male end of hte vga since my laptop has the female end).

It looks like the Brother MFC-3360 can only print/fax with a MacBook Pro which stinks that it cannot scan ( a function on the MFC that worked on my Dell laptop). Do i need to get another MFC that works with apple?! who faxes anymore? i need to scan and email the documents, not print and fax. this is a very unpleasant surprise.

I don't know what video card you have, but I just downloaded this porting kit for solaris8 intel. It work perfectly on my desktop Dell 4100. I think it will also work for the dell laptop. The porting kit is NOT XFree86; it only make use of the xfree86 drivers for solaris.

Scrubbing audio cuts out while editing iMovie project
Hello,
I put all of the clips, nearly an hour, in the project, and am editing just by deleting what I don't want. I keep losing audio while scrubbing. Would having less video in the project window fix that? It came back just now by restarting iMovie, but cut out again.

2 Strange audio formats like .mp3, .avi etc.
• Change them to .aiff. Use an audio editor like Audacity (free)

Had the same problem; some Googling around gave me a kludgy, but effective fix
Downgrade Perian from recent versions back to version 1.0.
That worked for me, and so far I haven't encountered any deficiencies—except it takes more advanced versions of Perian to enable QuickTime to handle subtitles in .srt format—that I have noticed.
5. GarageBand fix.
In this set audio to 44.1 kHz (Klaus1 suggestion)
(if this don’t work try 48 kHz - me guessing)
Before burning the DVD.
• Do a DiskImage (File menu and down)
• Double click on the .img file
• Test it with Apple DVD-player
If it’s OK then make Your DVD.
Burn at x1 speed.... (or x4)
• In iDVD 08 - or - 09
• Burn from DiskImage with Apple Disk Util tool
• OR burn with Roxio Toast™ if You got it

Airplay and airfoil cut out all the time
Whenever I stream music from my mba via either iTunes or AirFoil to my speakers the sound will cut out all the time. If I switch the sound output in sound preferences to the airplay speakers then everything works fine and there's no cutting out. How can this be fixed so that I don't have to change the system preferences everytime I want to play music to the airplay speakers?
