AIX 6.1 compatability with 10g

AIX 5.3 was upgraded to AIX 6.1.
Running OEM Grid 10g R3.

No progress...
Is this a result of incompatability of 10g and AIX 6.1?
Is there a support for AIX 6.1 by Oracle 10g?
Thx,

• ODP 11 compatibility with 10g

Can anyone comment on whether ODAC 11 (albeit still in beta) is likely to raise compatibility issues with apps created with ODAC 10 against Database 10g?
At one of the recent Oracle Develop events, I recall being told that 11 beta was stable enough to be used straight away but I'm not sure if anything was said about backward compatibility.

• Compatibility with 10g Express

Greetings all,
I know that APEX is not 'certified' to work with 10g, but is the combination of 10g Express and Application Express "viable" ?
I have a situation that requires a pretty quick turn-around and while I could experiment to find this answer, in this case it may be faster just to ask.
Oh, and I know I will lose the interactive-reporting ability.

• 6500-E with SUP720 compatibility with 10g module

I have 6509-E chasis with supervisor VS-S720-10G.
I need to add a new WS-X6708-10G-3C= module to this same chasis.
As per the cisco datasheet both the cards and the supervisor are compatible, just need to confirm this.

WS-X6708-10G-3C will never be compatible with Sup2T. The Sup2T has DFC4/PFC4 and the card has DFC3/PFC3 card which cannot be upgraded.

• Oracle Database10g Express Edition's compatibility with Forms/Reports 10g

hi,
I have a problem while connecting from Oracle Forms/Reports 10g to Oracle Database10g Express Edition.I have configured through the net configuration assistant and it shows the test is also successful. But while connecting from Oracle Forms/Reports 10g, an error is being displayed saying that the TNS could not resolve service name(ORA - 012154). I am able to connect to my database server normally. I got a doubt now regarding Oracle Database10g Express Edition's compatibility with Oracle Developer Suite 10g. Can I use Oracle Database10g Express Edition as backend for Forms/Reports 10g in a stand alone machine.
Can anyone please give me a solution regarding my issue.
Thanks in advance.
RAKESH

12154 means that the TNSNAMES.ora that reports is using does not understand what the '@XE' means.
Check that you do not have several different TNSNAMES.ora files - there are probably several, and the one you are using probably does not point to XE. This is the most common cause I've seen.

• OBIEE 10g compatability with IE 10

Hi
Can any one help me in Does Obiee 10.1.3.X is compatable with IE 10 rignt now we are using IE 8 we want to move to IE 10
Thanks,

While I'm not advocating to change delivered code, there is a way you can upgrade to IE10 but have browsers downgraded behind the scenes to run OBIEE 11g as IE versions 7-9 by doing the below
navigate to
Oracle_BI1/bifoundation/web/display/featuretables/
and open iecommon.xml
modify the line that shows below:
<feature name="requiredMetaTags" xsi:type="xsd:string"><meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=100" ></feature>
and change to
<feature name="requiredMetaTags" xsi:type="xsd:string"><meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=9" ></feature>
This will force the meta tag that's push with each html page to be rendered as document type IE9. You can take this all the way down to IE7.
Keep in mind, this method isn't officially supported. However, when you have no control over how IE is rolled out in your organization you're really forced to do things out the ordinary to keep the application functioning
Thanks!

There are a number of notes contained within this note that I would seriously recommend reading and fully understanding.
How to find the latest version of ADI refer to note: 238983.1
Please Note the following:
Any ADI Templates Created in Previous Versions of MS Office could potentially corrupt
A lot of ADI templates may have to be created from the beginning

• Centos 4.4 compatibility with Oracle 10.1.0.3 on a Pentium

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the Pentium 4 is an x86 architecture (32b or 64b I am not sure how to determine).
But, I did a little research and below is what Oracle says from a minimum o/s standpoint for Oracle 10.1.x
* Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS 4 (base release or higher)
o Kernel 2.6.9-5.EL (minimum)
I logged on and found the following:
[root@localhost ~]# uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.9-42.EL #1 Sat Aug 12 09:17:58 CDT 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
I then created a script to verify compatibility (Metalink Note: Note:392940.1)
[root@localhost ~]# /root/chk_os.sh
RedHat unknown 2.6.9-42 is not certified with 10g
Question: is 2.6.9-42 I higher version of the kernel thatn 2.6.9-5?
Should this be supported?

no problem here for the kernel
2.6.9-42.0.0.1 is the kernel coming with RH4 U4, the current patch level of RH4
2.6.9-5 is the version in the base release of RH4, I think
Oracle 10.x is certainly supported on kernel 2.6.9-42.x.x.x which is higher than 2.6.9-5
for the other prerequisites, concerning required packages and settings
you still need to check the install guide

• 11g database compatible with 10g ASM?

Hi all,
I have one server with Oracle 10g database and ASM installed. Now I need to install a new database on 11g version. Know you if my new 11g database can use the 10g ASM? Or I need to create a new ASM in 11g too?
Thanks in advance,
Jordi

PLease look at the following link. The 11g Database is indeed going to work with 10g asm but the features available will vary depending on the version compatibility.

• Suggestions b4 installing 11g on Servr 2003 with 10g already

Hi,
Are there any pitfalls I need to be aware of before installing 11gR2 onto Windows Server 2003 with 10g (10.2.0.5.0) already installed? I've searched the forum and found threads on multiple installations in Linux, Solaris and AIX, but not on on Windows Server.
The databases will not be run simultaneously. I've looked at the documentation in the 11g Administrator's Guide on Managing Multiple Database Instances on a Single Server. This is not what I'm trying to do. Caging and allocating resources is not going to be an issue. I intend to turn the Oracle Services for 10g to Manual and stop them. Install 11.2 into it's own Oracle Home. This is on a test server.
I have a program called Windchill that uses Oracle. I have an existing test environment version of Windchill running 10g.
I want to test the latest release and version of Windchill, this requires 11g. I will not be running both at the same time, one or the other. I will start the Ora services for the version that I need depending the version of Windchill that I intend to start.
Are there any issues or configuration notes that I should be aware of before installing 11gR2 Enterprise Edition on my test server or the 11gR2 Client on the Windchill test server? I intend to configure both on the same ports for the TNS listener and on the Windchill server the Tomcat and Apache will be configured to use default ports; so both cannot be running simultaneously.
Both servers are running:
Windows Server 2003 R2
Standard x64 Edition, SP2
Thank you

• Windows 8 and itunes 11 compatibility with an ipod

I have itunes11 and Windows 8. I've called Apple and I've talked to Microsoft. This was months ago. I can download itunes and run it from my laptop but am unable to sync my ipod. I get an error and it automatically reboots my computer. I was told there were known compatibility with itunes and Windows 8. This was months ago.
I know how to downgrade itunes to XP or Win 7. This is not the issue. I can download to my laptop and place, it will not sync to my ipod device (which is a fear years old), but when I did talk to support I was told that it was supported. The ipod was not the issue.. It was the incompatibility between the programs.
I see recent updates in the support community in the past month about production resolution but this still has not resolved my issue. I don't believe purchasing a new ipod is going to resolve the issue either.
If anyone has successfully developed a workaround or recently downloaded itunes11 w/ Windows 8 and can sync to an apple ipod I would love to know how you did it.

[email protected]

Im not sure that will solve the issue I have with itunes. I have a lenovo laptop and I think it's just an issue with Apple who has to modify the program for users of Windows 8 so that itunes can be used and to find purchased music. I found the music I purchased through itunes but it's not the full tracks. It said it allows me to download it fully so I can hear the whole track, but needs some kind of capatibility? I have no idea what the problem is. If someone has the answer knowing my computer brand and having windows 8 compatibility issues, please let me know what you suggest.

• Is adobe photoshop cs2 compatable with windows 8?

Is adobe photoshop CS2 compatable with windows 8?

I have removed and re-installed CS2 twice now and still get the same library application error.
DO NOT INSTALL WINDOWS 8 ONTO YOUR COMPUTER IF YOU WANT TO KEEP CS2!
Telling us to spend more money to upgrade our software to meet OS does not show trust to the users. CS2 should be able to work with new OS systems and if not users should be allowed to update their current program for free to be able to use it on the new OS.
Thank you,
Eric
