AIX 6.1 - Do we need HACMP to store the OCR and Voting Disks on Raw Logical
We are planning to install 11G r1 rac on AIX 6.1. We will use clusterware and ASM. We would like to avoid GPFS and HACMP.
We plan to put the Clusterware OCR and Voting Disks on Raw Logical Volumes.
I do not believe we need HACMP. see the passage below from doc:

Configuring Raw Disk Devices for Oracle Clusterware Without HACMP or GPFS
If you are installing Oracle RAC on an AIX cluster without HACMP or GPFS, then you
must use shared raw disk devices for the Oracle Clusterware files. You can also use
shared raw disk devices for database file storage. However, Oracle recommends that
you use Automatic Storage Management to store database files in this situation.
This section describes how to configure the shared raw disk devices for Oracle
Clusterware files (Oracle Cluster Registry and Oracle Clusterware voting disk). It also
describes how to configure shared raw devices for Oracle ASM and for Database files,
if you intend to install Oracle Database, and you need to create new disk devices.
Question:
Do we need HACMP to store the OCR and Voting Disks on Raw Logical Volumes? According to the passage above we do not.
You can archive log either in shared location or separate location associated with each instance. Oracle recommends using a shared location for all the instances in a RAC configuration. Check the topic "Location of Archived Logs for the Cluster File System Archiving Scheme" in Clusters Administration and Deployment Guide

I am Mahesh. Working in DXB as DBA. We have serveral RAC installed clients. Among those one major client wants their OCR and Voting Disk to be moved from existing SAN to a new SAN which will be configured. Only OCR and Voting Disks needs to be moved.

OCR and Voting disks are on RAW devices (not on CFS or NFS)
I have read the clusterware administration document and also Metalink Note 428681.1 for the same.
But it does not contain information how to move it to another new RAW in a new SAN device. (we need to keep it in raw device itself)
How to identify the new disk path from windows operating system ? Then only we can move the OCR and VD right ???
Help me for the same please...

Could you list out the steps you did after you create the link on the new SAN using GUIObjectManager.exe?
I tried on my VM and also in customer's test environment but I only successful using the following steps
1. shutdown asm service, database service, listener service, CRS, EVM and CSS
2. Object Manager Service is kept running
3. from both nodes I issued the following command
ocrconfig -repair \\.\OCRPRIMARY
ocrconfig -repair \\.\OCRMIRROR
4. according to metalink id 428681.1, I should do the following
ocrconfig -overwrite
However I was not successful because that command returns an error message (PROT-1: Failed to initialize ocr config).
Therefore, I ran the following command
ocrconfig -restore D:\oracle\1020\CRS\cdata\crs\backup00.ocr
5. after that command, ocrcheck giving me the result and the ocr primary and mirror have been moved to the new partition.
6. start the whole services starting from CSS, EVM, CRS, ASM, Listerner and Database service.
Although what I experienced seems a bit weird and not the same as what was written in metalink, the RAC is running fine until now.
What I would like to know is your experience on this. May be you can share it here.

If you use the XP you will not find the LAN driver on the recommended driver site!
I can not give you any advices where to find such driver because I dont know what LAN card is installed in your oldie.
But why you dont check this yourself? Try to find out what LAN card you use and googel a little bit for compatible applications ;) -

Why do i need to turn off the printer and restart it every so often to get it connected and ready?

In that case I suggest you to print HP Network Configuration Page and make a note of the Printer IP address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway as printed in the page.
Next open Internet Explorer browser and type the printer IP in the address bar and press Enter key. This will open printer information web page also known as EWS (Embedded Web Server) page. Here click on Network. If the printer is in Wireless, select Wireless and one of the settings displayed talks about Manual IP configuration.
At this setting select Manual IP and enter the Printer IP, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway. Then select Manual DNS and enter the following addresses
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
Save the settings and turn OFF and turn ON the printer. Try re-enabling the webservices and check the result,

On my new iPhone 4s, I periodically get a "Sim failure" message and I loose my Verizon connection. To get service back, I need to shut down my phone and restart it.
Have you tried removing and replacing the SIM? If that doesn't work, try a new SIM from Verizon, they will usually swap them out for you for free. If those don't work, you might need to get the phone checked out, it may have a bad SIM port.

Can someone please explain and help me? I am unlocking an iphone4 from at&t to use it on the straight talk network. They've confirmed my request to do this and I am now a little confused as to what to do next. They want me to back up the phone using itunes on either a MAC or PC. I do not have an aplle computer but I do have an acer. Sooo, can I use it to do this? Or do I even have to do this to unlock and switch the iphone4 over to a new network? Install iTunes on your Acer and you can back up the iPhone. Or back it up to iCloud. If you do not back it up you can get it unlocked, but you will lose all of your content.
You can get iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes.
Even after unlocking I'm not sure it will work on Straight Talk, because last time I checked ST used Verizon as its carrier, and an AT&T iPhone 4 is not compatible with Verizon's network. You can probably use it on Net 10 or T-Mobile once it is unlocked. -
Look at original question. When I did the download to the new 6.0 it said everything was fine. Then when I tried to use the firefox again it said an older version needed to shut down my computer so that it could upgrade the old version. It wont let me do anything and all it says is shut down computer so old version can upgrade. It wont let me open the program or remove it or anything. PLease help me with this. I really like Firefox but this has been going on for 5 months now and I still dont get answers from you. How do I fix this???

But what do I say?All Apple wants is the iPod itself, if that's all you're having problems with. They will not need the packaging, nor any of the accessories unless you're having problems with any of them. As to "what you say", you'll tell them what the problem is.

I have a simple Issue but It is not resolve by me i.e input parameter

jsp:useBean call a property IssueData. this property exist in

At run time servlet and server also show that loggging are saved in DB.

I tried to import picture/video files from iPhone 5S to MacBook Pro Aperature. It appeared to be trying to download every picture I have ever taken even tho I checked do not import duplicates. The phone is not connected to lap top. It has been spinning for 1/2 day. I can't stop it. I can't shut down the computer. How do I stop the import and shut computer down.

Came across the article, but found a solution that allowed me to keep everything without losing my places file.
Removing places.sqlite-shm and places.sqlite-wal while firefox was not running allowed FF to start without a problem.Agreed, and fuser showed that the files weren't in use.
Using sqlite from the command line to access places.sqlite when the files were there seemed to work till I did ".schema" and then I got an error that indicated corruption.
Removing the files and then retrying ".schema" worked flawlessly.
Telling users about this possible solution would help them recover their history, etc. that they may have spent a lot of time creating. -
I have a macbook pro running 10.6.8. Since I got it over a year ago it will disconnect from the network when left idle and then not be able to reconnect. All computers in the house have to be shut down and the router turned off in order to reconnect again. My son just updated his macbook using my os disc and now his computer is doing the same thing. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Iphone 5 will not display 3G, ever
My iphone 5, with 6.1.4 on the AT&T network does not have this option. In fact it will NOT display 3G under any circumstances. It always goes directly from 4G to EDGE. I find this to be very unsatisfactory.
