Your company should have a AIX admin that must be capable of troobleshoot basic and advance problems with the OS, also your company should perform preventive tasks to avoid this unexpected downtimes... also most companies have 3rd level support contracts to support their AIX environments.
The only reason for a AIX box to "go down" is hardware failure or corrupt software, in any case you should have a recent backup.

Well, first you need to buy the hardware, a pseries/system p box, and afaik the os is included.
As an alternative, maybe you can look into getting remote access to AIX host.
Also, please in the future do not use all caps in forum messages.

JMS Exception when server goes down (Urgent) ?

Hi All,
I have three topics in the JMS Server which is on the top of Web logic server 8.1.
On the client side I have Swing thick cleint.For each topic I have a listener.
When the web logic server goes down ( I shut down manually ) Only one listener is recieving the Exception and the Swing client reacts accordingly.
After this ,
Client continousoly checks whether the server is up or not. Once the server is up again the Exception is thrown that server is down ( I guess now the second listener is recieving the message).
After some time again the third listener recives the message.....
and the client reacts on that exception 3 times.
How can I get rid of this ?

this is probably a very good question to ask support. 'Logical' deployment sequence
was added to the WebLogic only recently (6.1sp?) ('logical' means that first datasources
are deployed, then EJB's and then web-apps, deployment-order parameter was added etc).
So, for applications where shutdown sequence is important there must be a document which
describes how server shutdown works.
On the other hand, this may not be as important as deployment sequence, because running
instance can crash at any time and it should not affect anything.

down time (heavy load), I can see the jsps call the ejb, sometime jsp can't find
the bean because it's removed from jndi. sometime jsp found the bean but when the
bean try to talk to database, ejb can't use the connection because the datasource
is removed from jndi. Also my shutdown class waits for the threads finish up, and
the threads calls the ejb and do the db operation, and the conn is cut when the db
operation is half way. So, the order of events when server shut down is important

How does client invoke an operating system command in the Server machine.?

Guys,
Is there any way that a client could trigger an operating system command on the Oracle Server machine?
I've a VB scipt file in the server machine.My requirement is to execute that VB file on the server machine.(The script would essentially create a DSN on the server machine).
The normal way to execute a VB script would be to specify the name of the file in the command prompt.(If my VB script ONDEMAND.VBS resides in C:\ONDEMAND folder,I need to execute the statement
"C:\ONDEMAND\ONDEMAND.VBS" in the command prompt to get it executed.)
I would utilise the SQL command below
HOST C:\ONDEMAND\ONDEMAND.VBS
to invoke it programatically(from a PL\SQL scipt).
Can someone help me in utiliting HOST command in Oracle(Or by any other means) for a client database operation to execute an Operating system command in the Oracle server machine?

Linux has a higher per process memory limit. The fmscore process can use up to 2 GB on Windows and up to 3 GB on Linux.
The performance increases in Flash Media Server 3.5 are roughly equivalent on Linux and Windows.

Operating system not found when deploying to machines with two hard drives using MDT 2013.

Computers with two hard drives will not boot after the install OS step in the task sequence. I get the "An operating system wasn't found. Try removing drives that don't contain an operating system" error. I am able to get the
machine to boot by swapping the hard drives' boot order, but the task sequence won't complete after this. The deployment works fine on machines with one hard drive, and I'm not getting any errors from the task sequence. I'm deploying windows7
enterprise x64 using MDT2013. This is a new custom image and task sequence generated using MDT2013. I can't remove the second hard drive because there are scripts that run on the second hard drive during deployment and also because I don't desire
to remove and re-install 250 hard drives. I've not experienced this problem with earlier versions of MDT.

Send email/notification when server shutting down?

Is it possible to send out a notification via e-mail (or maybe even text) to all the users listed in the user accounts when the server is shutting down? We have been experiencing some severe weather here and I need to shut the server down on occasion when the power starts to gray out/black out. I would like to automatically initiate an emails alert to the users when OS X Server gets a shutdown commend. Can this be done?

Consider acquiring and configuring a less-interruptible power supply, and configure that to communicate with OS X Server via USB; options that will work include the APC SmartUPS supplies I've tried. (OS X Server doesn't generally "appreciate" having the power yanked, and if the grid is already greying out, it's a little late; I don't know that I'd trust the shutdown to complete.)
If you're shutting down the system via ssh session or equivalent (and not the GUI), you could write a shell script that does what you need prior to issuing the shutdown command.
If you're shutting down via UPS, there's a script that can be used but it's kinda far along and unlikely that mail or SMS will be read before the server is offline.

I want to learn that how do you monitor the BPEL engines? Can you send snmp traps or do you use any other mechanisms? and how?
Maybe i will only send alert when engine crashes or in similar cases.

Installation of MII 12.1 on AIX 5.3 TL8 Operating System

Hi All,
I think Ramp-up for MII 12.1 is nearing its end and MII 12.1 getting ready for release.
One of our client wants to install MII 12.1 in AIX 5.3 TL8 Operating System.
since installation guide for 12.1 is not yet released i went through the installation guide of 12.0 but could not find detailed installation procedure for AIX Operating System.
Installation guide was based on windows 2003 server.
so can anyone help me out with the detailed procedure for installing MII 12.1 in AIX operating system.
Assumption is that NW CE is already installed.

i have the copy of the installation guide for sap mii 12.1. I am not sure whether that can be installed on the aix operating system or not. however, you can get the installation guide from sap marketplace .. i have downloaded the guide from the service marketplace.

Previously we were maintaining COMMAND in Windows NT Operating system using transaction SM69.
There in SM69 we were using Operating System: Windows NT & OS command: cmd /k
But now we have to maintain in AIX Operating system.
could any body tell for operating system: AIX, what "Operating system command" should i give..

1. In case of AIX operating system,
 there is no need to give any such thing like CMD.
In windows,
(eg for DIR, we have to give CMD /C DIR)
2. But in AIX/UNIX, We directly need to give the final command.
 eg: command is ls
 and in parameters we can give -la?
(note, in aix/unix, command is case sensitive)

File system getting full and Server node getting down.

Currently we are using IBM Power 6 AIX operating system.
And in our environment, for development system, file system is getting full and development system is getting slow while accessing.
Can you please let me know , what exactly the problem & which command is used to see the file system size and how to resolve the issue by deleting the core files or some ting. Please help me .

When i executed the command df -lg and find . -name core noting is displayed, but if i execute the command df is showed me the below information. below is an original file which i have modified the sid.

Server 0 node is giving the problem. its getting down all the times.

Operating System Command in JDBC Sender

Hello everybody,
I'm trying to find some syntax to execute an operating system command on Windows Server 2003, but the commands don't seem to work I'm actually trying to generate a directory, now the problem is that I can't find syntax examples on how to do this I tried something like MKDIR TEST, now is the syntax of the command lines as you write them in Command Prompt, or maybe there is my error, thanks in advance.

JDBC sender also support OS command.
Refer to note 841704 if you face any issue while executing OS command in JDBC adapter.
Note: OS Command execute when processing in database executed successfully. It is even independent on OS command Errors.

SharePoint 2007 performance issue after upgrading the operating system

We upgraded the operating system of our SharePoint Server 2007 from 2003 to 2008 R2. After upgrade we rebuilt the SharePoint using content DBs we backed up before upgrade. All settings is same except that we moved the DBs to new SQL servers. Now users are
reporting performance issue with sites. I experienced it myself some of the pages takes 9-30 seconds to load. Also our SharePoint server is single server. I monitored the SharePoint Server and it is fine. I did fiddler trace and here are the result. I see
lots of 401 (login failed) errors then 302 (redirect) then 200 (OK). Do you know why we are getting 401 errors?

when you request a Site collection (http://domain/) or a Site (http://domain/foo/) of your Publishing Site you get redirected to the http://domain/Pages/<WelcomePage>.aspx. SharePoint 2007 uses the 302 header (location temporarily moved) for
this purpose. Surprisingly even WSS uses the 302 header to redirect a root url to the default.aspx. In comparison ASP.NET uses an internal redirect to render the default page when the root url requested: there is no redirect in this situation.

Operating System identification

How to identify Operating System of my Application server.
I have property file in my web application for Windows and Linus.
I need to identify th Operating System and read specific configuration file in my Struts Application .?

What you do is use the same property file on both systems. When running on windows you put windows specific stuff in the property file and when running on linux you put linux specific stuff in the property file. That way you won't have to check for the OS (which totally defeats the purpose behind a cross-platform development environment such as Java).
