This system is on AIX 5.3 64 bit and Oracle 9 with ECC 5.0. This system was hung yesterday, when we try to restart Oracle and SAP, it was stuck again in saposcol start phase. But when we restart whole server with init command, the sap system can be started normally, but recently i found this error message in the saposcol log file. Before the server hung incident, the saposcol log file also display this kind of error.
I just wonder, what is Warning: SNAPDISK about? is there any relationship with this error and the server hung incident. I search with the keyword but i found very minimum information....
Is it really need to start saposcol with environment variable EXTSHM = ON?
Please kindly advise..
Big thanks
Fendhy.

Hi Fendhy,
1) Yes, to the best of my knowledge you may ignore it. However if the warning indeed is so very frequent, then it would be good if you reported it in a SAP support message. I understand that SAP was working on making the code more intelligent in dealing with this kind of numeric quirks, so there might be a more recent saposcol version that gets rid of the problem.
2) This message is purely informational. You could actually set EXTSHM=ON on a 64-bit platform but there would not be any practical benefit apart from no longer getting the INFO message in the log. Since EXTSHM is ignored with 64-bit, it cannot normally be the cause of the problem that you encountered.
3) In that case there might be a specific issue with saposcol, which does not affect the database and SAP instance. If possible you might try reproducing the problem by starting saposcol separately with a higher trace level, e.g. "saposcol -l -t2 -z". If the hang occurs and the saposcol trace doesn't make you any wiser, you can also try monitoring the saposcol PID with "truss" (truss -p <pid>)
Hope this helps,
Mark

What could be problem
also in first error log I found
Connecting to database with connect string : "(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=https)(PORT=//escis-000567.eschq.esc.state.)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=80)))"
why it picks up https as HOST name. I think that's problem. How to resolve it ?
Thanks
~KeyurPlease post the details of the application release, database version and OS.
I am getting several of these messages in the Apache error logfile.
File does not exist: $JAVA_TOP (this is actually my physical patch for $JAVA_TOP)Is this the complete error message?
Is it normal to see this messages or some configuration is wrong? If your application is functioning properly with no issues, then you can ignore those errors.
Thanks,

Installation Of Solman 7.1 aix Oracle failed with Java Error
Dear All,
We are doing SOLMAN Installation 7.1 SR1 AIX Oracle.
Now the installation stopped at the 19th phase "IMport ABAP"as in the attached screenshot.
OS : AIX 6100-07-02-1150
Database: Oracle 11.2.0.3
Java Version currently maintained: java version "1.4.2"
When i checked in log File import_monitor.java.log ( /tmp/sapinst_instdir/SOLMAN71/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS) ,
[root@solmantrg: /tmp/sapinst_instdir/SOLMAN71/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS] cat import_monitor.java.log
java version "1.6.0_45"

[root@solmantrg: /tmp/sapinst_instdir/SOLMAN71/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS]
Also i checked all the above import Directories [
'/cddumps/Solman_Export_Cds/51042607_1/DATA_UNITS/EXP1'
'/cddumps/Solman_Export_Cds/51042607_1/DATA_UNITS/EXP2'

'/cddumps/Solman_Export_Cds/51042607_2/DATA_UNITS/EXP4'
] and all the above import directories are present in my system.
Later from the above log, i compared the Java Version of our System
[root@solmantrg: /tmp/sapinst_instdir/SOLMAN71/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS] java -version
java version "1.4.2"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2)

[root@solmantrg: /tmp/sapinst_instdir/SOLMAN71/SYSTEM/ORA/CENTRAL/AS] which java
/usr/java14_64/jre/bin/java
Kindly clarify the below Queries.
1)Is the above Solman installation error was due to Java version? If so, do we need to install java version "1.6.0_45" in Solman Server to proceed with the installation.
2)Cant we proceed the Solman installation with the current Java version (java version "1.4.2") of our System .
3) What is the actual Prerequistes to be maintained for JAVA. I have downloaded the Installtion guide from SMP.
but in the installation guide, The exact java version to be maintained to proceed with the Solman Installation 7.1 SR1 is not mentioned anywhere.
4)If we install the Java 1.6, do we need to start Solman installation from the scratch . Any reboot required after installing java 1.6?
5)Because of the inconsistencies in java version in our System, The installation shows the Error " Import directory does not exist "?
6)Please tel the cause of the Error
Kindly assist to proceed with the installation
Regards,
Gayathri.KHello Gayathri
The import_monitor.java.log says the JRE used is 1.6 - java version "1.6.0_45"
There must be multiple JRE's installed on the system.
Run the below command and check the output
ls -lad /usr/java*
Few things I would try.
Is the '/cddumps/Solman_Export_Cds/51042607_1/DATA_UNITS/EXP1' an NFS mount ? If yes use a local file system.
Create a directory called /SMINSTALL and move all from /cddumps/Solman_Export_Cds
It should look like /SMINSTALL/51042607_1/DATA_UNITS/EXP1
Start the installation.
Try to use Java 1.4 or 1.5 and see if that helps.
You need to set the environment variable JAVA_HOME before starting the installation.
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/java14_64/jre
Are there any files/directories under 51042607_*/DATA_UNITS/EXP* ?

Oracle errors in Weblogic Error logs appear in non english
We have a problem with weblogic error logging. Specifically, in a managed server's log file, Oracle errors such as ORA-XXXX show in Greek, not English. We are assuming
that this is because the timezone is Europe/Athens. However, the weblogic application server runs with user.language=en, user.country=US. What's more, there are 4 application servers and 2 of them have this problem. The oracle database is accessed via weblogic datasources.
Oracle database server Setup: Oracle Server 11gR2 running on Oracle Linux 64 bit, timezone set to Europe/Athens
Weblogic Server: Weblogic 10.3.5 running on Oracle Linux 64 bit, timezone set to Europe/Athens
The managed server, according to jrockit, the jvm runs with the following language related system properties:
user.language=en, user.country=US, user.timezone=Europe/Athens
The question is: How do we tell oracle / weblogic to log english text for the ORA errors?
Thanks,
ChrisI digged in the weblogic installation directory and it seems like the domain configuration wizard messed up the jdbc configs for the data sources.
The config xml files for the data sources in the /domain root/config/jdbc directory had oracle driver but the test query was for pointbase. I double checked from the database.xml file in the init-info directory and corrected the entry in the datasource config xmls and voila!.. the errors were gone.
I am not sure if this was the right approach and whether i have solved the issue or simply patched it.. so I am keeping the question open. If any one has any inputs I will be grateful.
If the mods/admins feel that the thread should be marked as solved I will surely do so.
Thanks. -
Hi,
When Customer is Created / Updated using Receivables or TCA APIs in Oracle Apps 11.5.10, all registered Business Events are firing and subscription code (PL/SQL Rule Function) is executing successfully.
In Administrator Workflow window, Notifications tab showing System Error: Warning Message for all the events which are subscribed.
eg:
"System: Error Event WARNING : oracle.apps.ar.hz.CustAccount.create /
oracle.apps.ar.hz.CustAccount.create62829 " Warning Message.
Please advice.
Thanks and Regards,
VijayWhenever there is a requirement of raising a Business Event due to some custom activity, you should call wf_event.raise to do this.
Just google to see the parameters you need to pass it while calling it. -
Help, How to view the error log of oracle Job
Hi all,
I created a job in my database, which clears the archivelog. After the job is executed, it occurs error.Such as :
RMAN清理归档日志 1 问题 2010-3-19 下午03时11分00秒 GMT+08:00 PTDB 数据库实例 SYSTEM RMAN 脚本
How to view the error log of oracle Job?
Thank you.
Eric ZhouHello,
Besides some views (with the scheduler) that you can get on the link below:
http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28310/scheduse002.htm#CHDGIDFD
You may use the LOG parameter with RMAN so as to generate a logfile on the server.
Also from EM DBConsole (starting with 10g) you may have the RMAN Backup Report.
Hope this help.
Best regards,

Hello,
When application executes SQL or PL/SQL code and error occurs, where can we find these error logs on Oracle database i.e. error log path on Unix.

Thanks. Most likely there won't be any if your app doesn't provide them. The database alert log only reports system errors. SQL and PL/SQL errors are typically not seen as system errors. And they certainly aren't seen as errors by the OS.
Now, if the error were due to an underlying system error, there would probably be an entry in the alert log (in the bdump directory) and quite possibly a trace file as well. -
I am suddenly not getting email on my MacBook Pro, but am receiving e-mail on my iPhone. I'm getting message "Warning Recent errors logged" It repeatedly states "The Header From: address <postoffice> is not authorised - please go to control add PHP" But I only have 1 email address. I'm afraid to add anything on since I don't even know what this other e-mail address is. What should I do? And would this definitely be the cause of my not receiving e-mail?
I pressed check again and here is what appeared:

Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition error log
I tried to install Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition twice on Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional Edition. Both times, the installation completed successfully according to the Installer, but within 2 hours, the disk drive was full. Shutting down the Oracle processes and services did not stop the disk space accumulation. The error log in the directory \oracle\ora92\Apache\Apache\logs was being written to until all the disk space was gone. The messages said that isqlplus server terminated with exit with status 337296 and then isqlplus server restarted. The writing to the error log did not stop until Oracle 9i was uninstalled, after XP gave a message disk space was very low. What is the meaning of the error status 337296, and why does the same error repeatedly get written to the error log until the disk is full??
From a shell window within X Windows, type
oemapp dbastudio

Hi,
I installed weblogic 12.1.2.0.0 with RHEL5.6. After the installation, I tried to post the following class path in setDomainEnv.sh file under the domain home directory,
POST_CLASSPATH="/prosun/jasper/jasperreports-3.6.0.jar:/prosun/jasper/commons-digester-1.7.jar:/prosun/jasper/log4j-1.2.15.jar:/prosun/jasper/org.apache.commons.beanutils_1.6.jar:/prosun/jasper/org.apache.commons.collections_3.1.jar:/prosun/jasper/org.apache.commons.logging_1.0.4.jar:/prosun/jasper/iText-2.1.0.jar:/prosun/jasper/groovy-all-1.5.5.jar"
While i am trying to start the Admin server, the server didn't started and following exception is reported in nohup.out file. Please help me to resolve this issue.
The above library jars are required for our applications.

Regards,
Anand Krishnanhi, you should not do nothing with user root.
please, don't use root again for weblogic administration.
list all files with root permissions:
move to Middleware Home, example: cd /u01/app/oracle/Middleware
find . -user root
if there are files with root permissions, change it to oracle:oinstall
I saw this:
Could not load Logmanager "oracle.core.ojdl.logging.ODLLogManager"
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.core.ojdl.logging.ODLLogManager
Please check in DOMAIN_HOME/bin/setDomainEnv.sh file if exist this:
JAVA_OPTIONS="-Djava.util.logging.manager=oracle.core.ojdl.logging.ODLLogManager ${JAVA_OPTIONS}"
export JAVA_OPTIONS
MWCONFIG_CLASSPATH=${FMWCONFIG_CLASSPATH}${CLASSPATHSEP}${COMMON_COMPONENTS_HOME}/modules/oracle.odl_11.1.1/ojdl.jar
export FMWCONFIG_CLASSPATH
if exist, replace for:
JAVA_OPTIONS="${JAVA_OPTIONS}"
export JAVA_OPTIONS
if not existe, its necesary for you to use /prosun/jasper/org.apache.commons.logging_1.0.4.jar in your classpath?. If it isn't necesary delete it, and restart the AdminServer. -

FJS-00010 Could not get value for property .Hi Milos,
The problem is with the starting of the SCS instance by sapinst, on AIX the port that we used (SAP default) 3901 during the input step for SCS was in usage at AIX by some application
nimsh 3901/tcp # NIM Service Handler
nimsh 3901/udp # NIM Service Handler
I had to free up the port for some time, stop processes running on the port and then continued with my installation. After the installation was complete, I changed the port number of SCS to 3601 and gave the port back to AIX application.
Beaware that you have to change the port number is various places, including Config tool, all the JSPM, Configtool properties
Check if this helps to resolve your problem, else I will have to recollect if I resolved it differently.

Hi,
We are using Oracle 10g AS.
For debugging my application, I wanted to write few System.out.println()wherever required. But I was wondering on which log these println's would be written to.
When I check Error log I see these messages

I also see lots of topics posted on this error messages but no reply to any one of them. I am not sure if they have solved their problem. I would appreciate if any one of you help me in solving my problem.
Thank you in advance

Hi all,
Here is the problem. There is a Soalris host with ZFS. There is some proprietary application which writes its error log. It has been noted that the error messages are not always written immediately, but only after processing some erroneous records. Plus in case of module terminating with SIGTERM, those errors which are still not in the log - they just would be lost, won't be written.
The experiment has been repeated on the different Solaris host with error log placed on local UFS and, second try, on NFS. In both cases error log writes immediately and correctly. So we are inclining to blame ZFS configuration.
I have an access to the "problematic" host and root privileges there. I would not like to restart the process which means I can't use truss. Hence I have a dtrace (in which I'm a nub yet).
Could somebody please give me a hint - which syscalls I should try to monitor to understand what is going on between the application and file system?
Any clue would be deeply appreciated.Application release: 12.1.2

Many "oc4j_socket_recvfull timed out" messages in Oracle HTTP Server log
Hello everyone,
We are using OAS 10.1.3.1 and see many messages in the Oracle HTTP Server log as follows. ipAddress and myOASInstance are used below to replace the actual values with what is conceptually present there in the log file.
Mon Jan 5 15:39:44 2009 warn client ipAddress oc4j_socket_recvfull timed out
Mon Jan 5 15:39:44 2009 error client ipAddress ecid: 1231198482:ipAddress:24569:0:36247,0 mod_oc4j: request to OC4J myOASInstance:12502 failed: recv
failed (errno=4)
Mon Jan 5 15:39:48 2009 warn client ipAddress oc4j_socket_recvfull timed out
Mon Jan 5 15:39:48 2009 error client ipAddress ecid: 1231198487:ipAddress:1860:0:135,0 mod_oc4j: request to OC4J myOASInstance:12502 failed: recv failed (errno=4)
Mon Jan 5 15:39:51 2009 warn client ipAddress oc4j_socket_recvfull timedout
Mon Jan 5 15:39:51 2009 error client ipAddress ecid: 1231198343:ipAddress:1717:0:31,0 mod_oc4j: request to OC4J myOASInstance:12502 failed: recv failed (errno=4)
Mon Jan 5 15:39:52 2009 warn client ipAddress oc4j_socket_recvfull timed out
Mon Jan 5 15:39:52 2009 error client ipAddress ecid: 1231198343:ipAddress:1680:0:101,0 mod_oc4j: request to OC4J myOASInstance:12502 failed: recv failed (errno=4)
Is anyone aware of what these warning/error messages indicate and what course(s) of action should be considered to remedy the issue?
Thanks,
DougIn mod_oc4j.conf, turn Oc4jCacheSize 0 : When setting Oc4JCachesize 0 in mod_oc4j.conf, this will force connection closure
and avoid socket saturation in machines, as each connection will be opened, then after the connection ends, it will be closed.
This means new request will need new connection and will not recycle existing connection.
Also set Oc4jConnTimeout 55 : It has to be less than firewall idle timeout which is 60 sec usually.
So that the OC4J connection is dropped by itself before the firewall drops it. This is in seconds and should be smaller than
the Firewall timeout, if any.
Hope this will help you.
