Akai MPD 16 or other sample controlling devices with Logic?

I am aware that this topic has been discussed before in the forum, however the answer i was looking for was not presented too clearly.
I am using an Akai MPD 16 with Logic Express 7. I am looking to assign samples to a sampler (most likely .wav drums/short melodies sampled from vinyl) so that they can be played internally in LE 7. I'm not so much looking to play entire sample "libraries" as the EXSP24 does, just individual samples i choose to map to specific pads on the MPD 16. I guess i'm just looking for a sampler in which i can assign .wav or other audio files that i can use in logic express with my MPD16.
I recognize the difference between Logic Pro's EXS24 and Express' EXSP24. So, i'm wondering how to solve this problem, does anyone know of a simple/decent VST that will suit my needs? or is there even a way to get around this in Logic Express whatsoever? anyone have a similar problem?
any help would be much appreciated.

I found out that my current network situation is ATV3 connected to LAN with Powerline devices gives the problem described above. Changing to WiFi connection to the Router, solves the problem even with a lower speed.

Setting Up Roland A-Pro Control surfaces with Logic

I have struggled with Logic Pro 8.0.3 and a new Roland A-500Pro midi keyboard which was reputed to be "easy to configure with a Mac".
Despite many discussions with a Roland help person (he tried very hard), The A-Pro control maps provided just don't work at all. Buttons to select tracks actually play sounds. I have both set up according to the Roland instructions (no good) and according to this forum post (https://discussions.apple.com/message/17034355#17034355) which suggest you don't even need to use the Roland interface.
Anybody have an envrionment that works?? or can suggest ways to configure.

Curious if there are certain boards might be listed in a similar feature in Logic.

Im new to MAc , completely new having been PC since the year dot...Having used Cubase since atari days I have a Steinberg Houston Controller surface. Anyone know if it is possible to use it with Logic Express before I spend £150 on the programe please??

nope, the surface wouldn't work natively on a Mac. You can only use it's MIDI features and remap the controls to functions in Logic. As long as the interface sends MIDI, this will work, but there won't be any access to the special features i guess. Guess why? Steinberg wouldn't want to provide a driver for another DAW than Cubase. Sneaky little ones they are...
But you can try to sell it through ebay.

Have a Macbook pro & looking to get Logic. Previously was running Cubase with a Yamaha O1v deck & it worked great with Cubase. Sold all that & looking to get a more compact project studio going ... what control surfaces integrate well with Logic?

Digidesign Command 8 control surface with Logic?

Does anyone have any experience getting a Command 8 to function as a control surface for Logic Pro 7? I'm really having trouble finding any information on it and I could really use some help. I'd appreciate any input or suggestions. Thanks,

Although it may have a standalone mode, it's not emulating any particular controller, such as the Logic Control or Mackie HUI protocols. It may send MIDI control messages that Logic can pick up (my Trigger Finger can do that as well). However, unless Logic sees the right ID from the Command 8 (whether in native or emulation mode), it won't recognize it as a control surface and send messages back and forth with it, thus not being able to take advantage of things like the display and motorized faders.
It looks like the Command 8 and the ProjectMix I/O look rather similar (yes, I know that Digidesign and M-Audio are owned by the same parent company).

Can family members added as part of the Family Share feature of iOS 8 really erase other family members devices with the Find My iPhone feature?

I initiated a Chat session with Apple Support to see if this was really possible. The answer I got was that it DID seem possible at this time. If this is true, then Apple may want to look at giving the sharing device the option to disallow other family members from erasing that device remotely (or playing sound, entering lost mode).
I would be comfortable allowing my wife to lock my iphone or erase it remotely if needed, but I would not want any of my kids to have that ability.
Can somebody else confirm this could be done?

Just tested this. You have to enter the Apple ID Password for the device you are trying to remote erase. You CAN put the device in lost mode without the password, but you cannot initiate a remote wipe without the password for the device.

am looking for is some general guidance to get me started; point me in

line between the Harmonica and the PC.

The software manual states using Interpreter Language or User
Programming Language. Both of the languages seem to resemble what I
remember of C++, sort of. The document explains "while" and "for"
loops, etc.; however, my understanding is that I should be able to use
LabVIEW to accomplish such tasks and then just ask LabVIEW to output a
command to the Bassoon to control my voice coil. My best guess is that
I use the "System Commands" to output commands to the Bassoon although
the software manual also mentions compiling code similar to that of
standard programming modes.

Using more than one USB input device with Logic

I have 2 USB mic's that I would like to record to separate tracks in Logic Express. The research I've done seems to indicate that this is not possible because an audio interface is required for more than one input device of any kind. Is there any way around buying a $150 audio interface? If so, I'll complicate things further, the mics are SAMSON CU10's and logic does not recognize them unless you set them up with the Aggregate device editor. Another configuration I would like to use in a Line6 USB guitar interface on one track and a Samson USB mic on another. Any options or do I need to buy an audio interface?

The line 6 is an interface. Try setting up the mic & the Line 6 as an aggregate device-I'm not sure if you can couple two ag's together or not. Barring that, Lexicon's Alpha has dropped to $80.oo, I'm getting set to but one today.

Bluetooth on iOS has three different functions:
o user level features -- For example, headsets. There is no developer opportunity here (well, you can play audio that comes out the headset, but you know what I mean :-).
o networking -- You can establish a PAN network to other iPhone OS devices with GameKit (going away) or Bonjour.
o accessories -- All Bluetooth accessory developers must go through the Made for iPod program. Once you have an MFI device you can then talk to it through ExternalAccessory framework.

Questions about Novation Remote 25SL integration with Logic Pro 8

Preface: I have to apologize in advance if this seems somewhat confusing. I'm sure some of the terms I'm using are just plain wrong - I'm somewhat of a n00b.
I have a Novation Remote 25SL configured to use AutoMap with Logic Pro 8 from Novation's website and most things are working well. It's confusing at times because sometimes I find it hard to tell what mode the keyboard is in, but that's ok - it's the least of my worries. Based on what I've seen through reading the manuals and my own experimentation, I have a couple of questions:
- Despite what the guy at the store told me, I can't seem to figure out how to select different kits from within the SL. For example, if I have a garageband instrument selected on a track - can I use the data/select knob on the SL as it is now, or do I have to program that somewhere, somehow? Or if I have Ultrabeat on a track, can I use the knob to select the different kits/banks?
- Is there a way to control non-Apple AU plugins like the rest of those which ship with Logic? All the sexy looking ones like Ringshifter, Compressor, Overdrive, etc. It seems odd that Remote will go into Mixer Automap mode and be able to control the certain portions of the instruments, but not the plugins that are automatically loaded into the channel strip when the instrument is loaded.
- I have a 25 key Remote. In Ultrabeat, I find the key maps miss a chunk of notes between where the drum pads end and where the keyboard starts (or vice-verse). Is there a way to get it so each key has a mapping? 25 keys in Ultrabeat, 25 keys on the board plus 8 drum pads - seems like there's lots of room.

Apparently there is a driver conflict between the AlphaTrack and the ReMOTE. So far I have got the ReMOTE working - sort of - in Logic using the following method which was published at Novation's Answerbase:
1. disconnect the alphatrack.
2. launch Logic and then turn on the ReMOTE SL.
3. Go into the Environment window, and add a Monitor Object. Connect it to the Remote SL's ports 2 and 3.
So far, this seems to at least get MIDI note input into Logic, but the Automap function seems a bit sketchy so far. This will depend on Novation updating Automap and the SL's firmware for Logic 8.
As noted previously, there doesn't seem to be any AlphaTrack support in Logic 8 yet and it's up to Apple to make it work. They do support their TranzPort product, so with luck there'll be support in the next update.
I'd really love to use BOTH control surfaces with Logic simultaneously -- the AlphaTrack with the Mixer and plugins, the ReMOTE with Software Instruments. I suppose it might take some interesting mapping but this doesn't seem like that strange a setup -- there are plenty of "mixer surfaces" like the M-Audio one, and the Novation Automap stuff is quite popular....

Frontier AlphaTrack and Novation ReMOTE both unusable with Logic Express 8

After reading all the hype about Logic 8 I went and picked up a copy of Express to see how easy it was to learn -- and indeed, it's MUCH easier than 7 and the interface is absolutely beautiful. It's exactly the way I would have designed it, both in layout and aesthetics.
However, I'm a bit disappointed that I can't use my brand-new Novation ReMote 25SL with Logic. During the first launch, the Automap server seemed to launch and quit in an endless loop until I force quit it. Logic doesn't seem to properly recognize it either as a controller or as a MIDI keyboard.
Likewise, my Frontier Alphatrack unit, which is supposed to be supported by Logic 8, doesn't really do anything -- it displays a few random parameters, nothing responds properly.
I've been using Mackie Tracktion 3 and Reason 4 with these controllers quite successfully. I'm a little frustrated as this means I can't really get started to use Logic without a lot of mousing, and my carpal tunnel tends to protest when I do that.
One fix I read online involved hacking files in Logic 8 to remove the AlphaTrack support in order to get the Novation keyboard to work -- but I'm not going that far!
Frontier, for their part, say they have provided all the data to Apple to allow them to implement support -- nearly a year ago actually -- but their feeling is that it got lost in the race to release Leopard and Logic 8. I'm not sure about Novation but they might need to update their software and firmware for Leopard / Logic.
Is anyone else having the same experience? Any success / frustration / news you'd care to share?

I have 3rd party software wirelessly injected and used on my iphone with a cryptographic authentication system without my consent (seems to be new technology developed by stanford and apple security is not updated for this technology) obtaining ownership of my iPhone 4s software and controlling it with remote device to jail breaking my phone, adding and removing software, changing settings all from a remotely controled device from different location (I have a Mac address I'd of this device to know for sure). Almost undetectable. When I look at the legal section of my phone it shows a list of all the unauthorized 3rd party software "as is" copyright encrypted on the phone. This is the most basic way to legally steal software of any kind. Because of this legalality 3rd party ownership have total control of certain software correlated with hardware use including visualization technology, etc. most people luckily will never have this happen to them so it's unlikely many readers have not a clue of what I'm saying currently. Either way, without needing to obtain specific warranty of any kind "as is" copyright control makes system restores not a solution because the source code is not directly encrypted on the actual hardware device only a copy right notice must appear on the specific device 3rd party software validation making it extremely difficult for me to take control of the situation. Apple claims their iOS technology prevents this type copyright obstruction from being possible, however, according to my phone a new form of technology was used developed by Tom wu of Stanford university called the STANFORD SRP AUTHENTICATION TECHNOLOGY which uses Some form of cryptographic authentication system and uses quote "secure remote password" which seems to suceed in hacking iOS apple technology apple claims is not possible to jailbreak an unstolen phone or without the owners consent As well as loading the device with 3rd party copyright Notices to make all of this legalized. My phone shows atleast 30 pages worth of legalized 3rd party copyright permissions! Yesterday my apple care provider labeled me a jailbreaker and refused to look at my legal documented proof which completely blew my mind because it voides my apple care contract I spent 100 on. This employee did not take all factors into consideration and made quick assumptions as well as verbally speaking to me as I'm an automatic criminal. I left the store yesterday with no payed insurance help on a problem I had no control over and couldn't prevent, leaving with voided contracts. This is an apple users worst nightmare and I have spent days researching all of this like i am some kind of lawyer only to be able to use my phone the way it should and spent alot of money on. I can legally backup any claim I have just wrote above currently and have a large source of data collected to prove apple is wrong in voiding insurance support on this issue. The problem lies in apple avoiding and not wanting to believe their software can legally be obtained ot "hacked". Yet still labeled a jailbreaker basically.. What should I do????? Been to local apple store 3 times and rebooted my phone as well sprint service restore 4 times and spoke with reps twiice on the phone. Spoke with my phone provider who said apple has full control over these matters so they can't help me. My case is according to apple "still open"...Anyone else heard of this or of Stanford's office of technology licensing? Maybe I need to buy a blackberry again or just use a landline so I can stop being my own lawyer and focus on other productive areas in life instead of this horrible mess. I set up a second Apple TV in our bedroom and wanted to be able to control it using my iPhone like I do with the Apple TV in the living room. The new Apple TV is active on the network and I've made sure the same Apple ID is used for both the Apple TV as well as the Remote App on my iPhone. I'm just wondering what I might be overlooking.
