Akamai Download Manager doesn't work

I'm trying to download Windows Server 2012 final release using IE9 on Windows 7 64 bit and I never get the prompt to install the Akamai ActiveX.   Had similar problems trying to download the Windows 8 final release a couple weeks ago.  Back
then, I got the Akamai thing to appear once, and then never again.   Never had this problem with the old Microsoft file download manager.  So I'm now downloading the iso directly using Firefox.  Sigh....

Hi,
Mine is a different but related issue:  OS-X 10.9 Host, and the Akamai download manager will not install.  My intention is to download the .ISO and spin up a VM to do my evaluation, but am experiencing "NO JOY".
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Based on what I'm reading, the download manager can only be used in IE:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/subscriptions/bb153537.aspx
Since you're not using IE, try the 'Direct download option' mentioned here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/subscriptions/dd464803.aspx
If this doesn't answer your question, I'd recommend starting a new thread to make sure that your question actually gets seen. Adding on to an already answered thread can cause your post to go unnoticed.

  • Download manager doesn't work with OTN downloads

The very same page suggest using GetRight but I use wxDownload Fast. I'm trying to download the 10.2 release of Oracle for Linux x86_64 and the link keeps redirecting. I can download through the browser but not through the download manager. It might be rigged to work only with GetRight but I'm not shelling out $20 for a download manager when most of them are (rightfully) free.
I've tried entering user name and password it is integrated with my browser (firefox using flashgot plugin) but nothing seems to work. Does anyone know the correct way to get a download manager to function with OTN?

Nevermind. I fixed it by switching to Free Download Manager and removing the flashgot plugin.

  • Problems to Download Dreamweaver CS4 with Akamai Download Manager!

I want to download Dreamweaver CS4 Italian Windows Trial version.
I have Internet Explorer 7, PC with OS Windows XP x64bit Corporate, Core2Quad Q9650, Motherboard MSI P45Platinum with Ethernet 10/100/1000,
    4GBRAM,3 HDD 500GB WesternDigital,Nvidia GeForce 9400GT.
I have installed "Akamai Download Manager ActiveX" control asked on the top of window popup.
    Clicked Yes:Installation confirmation.
But I have tried to click the button "Download" and just one window with this message appears and disappears immediately:
Per scaricare il software è necessario installare Akamai Download Manager...
    Problemi di download?
    Assistenza per il download...
Il sistema non dispone dei requisiti minimi per eseguire Akamai Download Manager.
(The system doesn't meets the minimum system requirements to run Akamai Download Manager.)
    I can't download anything. Why?
I have disable Pop-ups Blocker, and disabled also Anti-Phishing Filter.
Disabled also Antivirus and the Firewall.
Set and lowered Security Protection from Tools>Internet Options: to "Medium"; and also, another time, set to "Personalized" with all the controls
    switched to "Active".
Set Privacy>Settings>"Accetta tutti i cookie"(lowered to full bottom).
I have read this Akamai Download Manager FAQ:
-"Nothing happens when I click the download link"
If nothing happened after you clicked the download link, either your pop-up blocker or a high security setting on your web browser may have stopped
the Akamai DLM window from opening.
If you have a pop-up blocker enabled in your web browser or in your Internet toolbar (such as the Yahoo! toolbar or the Google toolbar), you will
need to disable your pop-up blocker to start your download. For additional information, and for instructions on changing your security setting, see
the "Akamai Download Manager system requirements" (ServiceNote kb400530).
Note: The download manager can sometimes take up to a minute to load. Please allow time for the initial loading before assuming there is a problem
Thus, I have followed this rules in Akamai Download Manager System Requirements:
    Internet Explorer 7
    1) Access your Internet options from the Windows Control Panel (Internet Options) or by selecting Tools > Internet Options in Internet Explorer
    2) Select the Security Tab
    3) Click Custom Level
    4) Scroll through the list of security options and set:
-ActiveX controls and plug-ins > Download signed ActiveX controls > Enable or Prompt
-ActiveX controls and plug-ins > Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins > Enable or Prompt
-ActiveX controls and plug-ins > Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting > Enable or Prompt
-Downloads > File download > Enable
-Miscellaneous > Allow script-initiated windows without size or position constraints > Enable
-Scripting > Active scripting > Enable
    5) Click OK
    6) Click OK again
    But nothing changes.
On my PC I have also this installation: "J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 5" and "Java(TM)6 Update 15".
But the download doesn't start at all.
    1) How can I do to download Dreamweaver CS4-Windows-ITALIAN language?
    2) Is it possible to download 364.8 MegaBytes without Akamai Download Manager?
    Please Hurry!
    Horsepower0171.

another option you may have is resettofactory
    start- run- type:
    cmd
    press enter
    type:
    cd c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
    press enter
    type:
    loader.exe /resettofactory
    press enter
    please perform a backup first
test your browser before you restore your backup, and to be ssafe I would do a selective restore
open DTM, go to backup/restore- advanced
    top left click on file-open
find your backup, it will load on the left side
you current working BB will be on the right side
transfer ONLY the absolute important databases from the left to the right(address, cal, phone logs, messages, sms, tasks, memo)... dont do any that you dont know and dont do any OPTIONS ones

  • I can't install Akamai download manager on IE 11

    Hi,
I'm trying to download software from msdn.microsoft.com. Connection is far from ideal and direct download is not an option. I've read about Akamai Download Manager plugin (the installer should appear when I press download button) but I've never
saw this installation notification. F12 development tools with IE9 emulation doesn't help. Please cold you advise me with this issue.
I already tried different combination like disable/enable "ActiveX filtering", disable/enable "Enhanced Protection mode", ...
    Thanks!
    Best regards,
    Alexey.

Somehow I've managed to start downloading using Akamai Download Manager. It looks like the trick was to set "Document mode" _AND_ "User agent string" to 9 version in F12 dev tools (previously I did it only for "User agent string")

  • Akamai Download Manager

I tried several attempts at downloading my CS4 Premuim Suite from Adobe's Licensing Manager's website with no success. I got the 85% progress bar on the connection in the download manager before it just quit working all together. I then had little success at downloading the file when it gave me an error that the file I was trying to download was not available. I spoke with three different technicians on three different 30 minute phone calls and no success. The only suggestion I received was to download the trial versions from their downloads page, install the trial versions, and when I launched one of the programs to just plug in the serial number that I purchased. That all sounded great, until I tried to download the trial versions and ended up with the same issues. After talking with my on site IT manager we both came to the conclusion that there might be an issue with our firewall. We tested a download from our home computer with no firewall and it worked. Our IT manager discovered that there is a header in the file that our firewall is seeing as a bad or malicious file and it is blocking it from completing the download. So to everyone who is having the same trouble and frustration with the Adobe Download Manager, you may want to try to check your firewall settings or try downloading it to a computer that is not networked with firewall protection.

You might want to troubleshoot Akamai Download Manager. http://helpx.adobe.com/tech-comm-suite/kb/troubleshoot-akamai-download-manager-3.html
Else, you can use the below direct download link and download PSE 11 on your machine.

Make sure to read the download instructions carefully.
    Hope that Helps!

  • CS4 and the EVIL Akamai Download Manager

Hi, I purchased CS4 and am now unable to download the product!
    Can anybody help me? .....pleeeeeeeez
I was able to download all the downloads except the 3.7GB main download.
I have tried in Firefox 3, IE 6, IE 7, Opera.
I have tried on 2 different computers.
I have downloaded the latest Active X components and latest Java platforms for both IE and Firefox.
I have enabled cookies, javascript, popus, ads.
I have disabled all firefox plugins, firewalls and antivirus.
I have checked with my ISP that I can in fact download such big files.
I have successfully managed to download CS3 in the past.
I have plenty of disk space and RAM.
The error message I receive in Firefox reads as follows:
    Download Manager Fatal Error
Could not find the requested file on the server.
Contact the author of the page that contains the link. This download will be canceled.
I have wasted so many hours this trying to get this to work. Also spent a long time on the online chat to support with no success. Trying to contact Adobe over the phone is impossible - whether I try in the morning or evening - the response is "office hours are 9am - 5pm" ...whenever that is!? Clearly its not referring to GMT or the USA time zone. Technical support via the website - well, will see if they ever respond to the case I opened there.
Right now I'm really really hating this Akamai download manager. Anybody know how to get a NORMAL link to download so I can use my normal download manager?

dont worry any more with cs5  its realy easy and realy high speeeeeeeed downloading and you can use your own download manager
    just visit

  • Can Acrobat XI trials be downloaded directly, instead of using Akamai Download Manager?

If you are having issues downloading Adobe Acrobat XI trials using Akamai Download Manager, you can download directly in a browser. Follow the instructions here:
    Download Acrobat XI trials directly

Thank you for the link, and for going to the trouble of making it available.
Please don't think that I'm intentionally making things more difficult than they have to be.  But as someone who recently passed his Security+ test, I cannot accept.  Even if scanned by AV software, I cannot run the risk of there being anything malicious in the file.
NOT THAT I THINK YOU WOULD!!!  I don't! Mind you, I just cannot take that risk, especially since this is for work (I'm a federal contractor.)

  • Can't download ColdFusion Server 11 without Akamai Download Manager??

    WTF, Adobe??
Why are you insisting that I use the Akamai Download Manager (which I never trust download managers) in order to download anything???
Based upon advice of others, I have attempted to bypass it by clicking on the "File 1 of 1" link.  But that doesn't give me the CF 11 installation file.  It still links to "Adobe ColdFusion 11 - AkamaiDLM.exe".
WHY CAN'T I DOWNLOAD ANYTHING WITHOUT THE DLM????????????????????
    ^_^

BlueDragon is better than ColdFusion? HAHAHAHA
    In all seriousness:
The download manager is in place because the ColdFusion install file is
rather large and to give the quickest download times, it's hosted
through Akamai CDN. This allows the best global download speeds.
However, as it's a large file, the download manager makes sure all the
right pieces come down in the right order. It's not an intrusive
    application.

  • Akamai Download Manager does not start...Help!

I purchased the downloadable versions of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 & Adobe Premiere Elements 10.  The Akami download manager appears to either not start or gets hung up when initializing.  I let the computer sit for 45 minutes to see if it would eventually start making progress.  No luck.
Can anyone provide any hints on how to get it to work?
    Thanks!

  • Media Manager doesn't work

    I have a Blackberry 8330 (CDMA) v4.50.191 (Plaform 3.4.0.62).
The Blackberry desktop manager is v4.5
    The Media Manager doesn't work.
when I click on the icon for it, the window gets a grayish tint -- like it's going to do something -- but then it returns to normal and nothing happens.
I am trying to download photos I took with my Blackberry camera to my computer.
Can anyone tell me some recommendations on how to download them and/or repair the Media Manager?
    Thanks,
    Sharlene

    Hello,
My advice, skip the Media Manager and instead use Mass Storage Mode:
KB11879 What is mass storage mode
With that, you can work with your BB memory area(s) as USB drives on your computer, and use your normal computer interface to do so.
    Good luck!

  • Download! Doesn't work anymore

    Hi,
my app Download! doesn't work on my E75 anymore.
    What did I do:
    - I installed an update for my Ovi Store Client (I was prompted for that)
    - This installation wasn't successful and I couldn't even launch the Ovi Store Client anymore
    - I removed the Ovi Store Client from my E75
    - After that every time I try to launch my Download! application I just got a system error.
    So my questions are:
    - What can I do to correct this?
    - Where can I download the Ovi Store Client?
    Thanks a lot so far.

Sign in at OVI from a PC or laptop and Reinstall Ovi Store on your device.

  • How do I get past the Akamai download manager?

I am trying to download the Adobe X Pro trial using Firefox.  When I hit the Download Now button it sends a popup box for Akamai download manager.  I hit the "Save" button but it will not automatically start the trial download after the manager is loaded.  What do I do next to get the free trial version?

I would recommend reviewing Troubleshoot Akamai Download Manager 3 | Trial products - http://helpx.adobe.com/tech-comm-suite/kb/troubleshoot-akamai-download-manager-3.html for assistance with installing the Akamai download manager.
