Al Bayan font to work in programmes

Hi there  - can anyone help me
I am using mac OS X Version 10.6.8
I want to use the type face Al Bayan in, Ideally Quark Xpress, or  Adobe photoshop or illustrator .. I have it in the computer listing in fontbook and all seems ok but when I go to any of these programmes the font is not there or comes out as blocks. I have even used spotlight to find out where it is ( I have been moving it between system /library/fonts and library/fonts) - and it says it is a windows font! Why?
so will it work in any of the above programmes? and can I get a version to use in these progs?

Hello Lynda, Did you install any Adobe or MS Fonts that might conflict?
It should be in
/Library/Fonts.  in 10.6.x...

Are they called...
AlBayan.ttf
AlBayanBold.ttf

    Hi, I have issue after Mavericks update from Snow Leopard. There is no bold style for "al bayan" font. I already tried to uninstall and replaced with the backup, but no change. The Font works fine on the secondary MacBook on OS X Leopard.
    Any Ideas? Many Thanks!

    For several weeks now after the 10.6 update every time I select some text in a new email and press apple + b for bold nothing changes!

    After searching this forums and the web, I am posting the question.
    Does anyone know of a current 2013-2014 REFERENCE which PROVIDES a
    LIST of FONTS that are ACCEPTED by
    IPADS and KINDLES
    that WORK WITHOUT Any PROBLEMS.
    The article below is in contradiction to using OPENTYPE fonts saying they are not reliable unless used at 100%
    Background.
    I am creating an ebook using inDesign CC.
    Spent time using several videos as learning tools.... Terry White....
    Gabriel Power has a two part set of tutorials from 2009 which were a bit helpful but a lot has changed in 5 years.
    He SUGGESTS using OpenType and TrueType fonts.... That PostScript fonts will NOT work.
    Searching '2013 and Ebooks and best fonts '
    I did find several lists of fonts that work for the KindleWhite and the KindleFire.
    The article was not dated.
    I did this search and found:

    The article above is in contradiction to using OPENTYPE fonts saying they are not reliable unless views at 100%.
    BUT this is all still CONFUSING.
    I would like to uses 6-8 fonts that will DISPLAY AS the font I use in my file.
    These would be fonts that work on both iPads and kindles primarily but on other mobile devices as well.  In this case I am not concerned about smart phone displays.

    Hello from Amazon Kindle Publishing.  Thanks for writing to us.  I'm so sorry to inform you that, currently We do not support Adobe InDesign CC.  Kindle Plugin for Adobe InDesign supports Adobe InDesign versions CS4, CS5, CS5.5 and CS6.  Rest assured I've taken This Issue as feedback and communicated the same to our Appliaction team for consideration as we plan future improvements.  Thanks for your understanding.

    How do I get all my fonts to work. I upgraded the OS and the old fonts don't seem to work.

    If the fonts are installed on the OS they should be there already. If they were only available to CS5 they are probably in the fonts folder in the Adobe section of the Common files (location will be OS dependent), or they may be in ID's own fonts folder.

    Could you capture your screen and post it. Have the layers panel open and any layers that are collapsed, expanded. We will need to see the entire screen, as some information in the tab is important as well.

  • Google API font not working in all places

    Hi guys,
    I'm working on a site and on one of my pages, google's api font will only work on one header (I have them as a paragraphs) in safari. I've only checked firefox and they look fine there. I'm unable to find a fix or a discussion about this issue and I was hoping someone here could take a look. On my index page, it works fine with two headers and I have it done on other pages as well. I'm only having problems with my FAQ page. I have tried a couple different ways to achieve this with my css but I keep getting the same problem and I'm sure you know how frustrating it can get.
    Maybe a fresh set of eyes will see the problem.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
    A lot has to do with how the css file is parsed, I normally include the @font-face with the h1 declarations first, (or whichever is the highest in the document) and get this working. One must remember that the font-family rule in the @font-face must also be included in the font-family for, (say) the h1, exactly as given, (I have also found that using double quotes where necessary in the h1's font-family works better).
    If you are updating a page from the old none web fonts to use the @font-face it is often necessary to at least reload the page, also watch the linking to the various font files as the download links often require changing, (hopefully cs6 will have the use of @font-face built-in and correctly functioning).
    It does take some practice, especially when updating an old css file to get the @font-face working correctly, (like finding the more specific rules that are overwriting the one you have modified!!) but once you have done this two or three times you will wonder what the problem was.
    If you wish to look at an example of the @font-face rule in operation view the code on any of the pages of my site at - http://www.pziecina.com. The homepage has it on the actual html page.

  • Armenian Mshtakan font not working in MS Word

    Hello,
    I am able to use the Armenian Mshtakan font on a Macbook pro using OS 10.7.5 only in Text Edit.  It will not work in MS Word.
    Is there any way to get Mshtakan font to work in MS Word for Mac?  Currently using MS Office 2011.
    Microsoft's website states that it does not support custom fonts due to security issues, and yet there are some custom fonts that DO work in
    Word,  Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this to work?
    I've tried clearing the cache file for MS Office Preferences, tried copying the font in fontbook to the Microsoft fonts folder. None of these things have worked.
    Thanks!

    I've got the same problem.
    Have you found the solution yet?

    It looks like you're working with InDesign, correct? I would try posting your question over in the general InDesign forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/indesign The folks over there will be able to provide you with more specialized expert help

    It wouldn't hurt to clarify what you mean by "not working."
    Does that mean you can see it and select it in the font menu, but then it somehow subsequently fails to __________ ... ?
    Or, do you mean it doesn't appear in the font menu? (Please be sure you check the entire font menu, and not just where you expect it to appear via alphabetical order.)

  • Embedded CFF font not working in TLF in latest stable build and higher (4.0.0.13875)

    Hi there,
    We are using embedded fonts with the TLF framework and since upgrading to the latest nightly build or the stable build, it stopped working. Here is a short example:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
                      xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"

         <fx:Style>
              @font-face {
                   embedAsCFF: true;
                   fontFamily: "Courier";
                   src: url("COURIER.otf");
                   advancedAntiAliasing: true;
                   fontStyle: normal;
                   fontWeight: normal;
         </fx:Style>
         <fx:Declarations>
              <s:TextFlow id="tf" fontSize="20">
                   <s:p fontFamily="Courier" fontLookup="embeddedCFF">hallo is dit courier?</s:p>
                   <s:p>hallo is dit courier?</s:p>
              </s:TextFlow>

         <s:VGroup>
              <s:RichEditableText textFlow="{tf}" />
         </s:VGroup>
    </s:Application>
    Any idea why it doesn't work anymore. The same example works fine compiling with build; 4.0.0.11686.

    I had the same problem with my new CS4 suite... Some of my

  • New fonts not working in Mavericks

    I installed new fonts (TTF and ODF). They show up in FontBook under 'computer', but none of my applications (photoshop and word) can find them. I can verify that these exact font files worked fine under Mountain Lion.
    I've installed them and restarted a few times but they aren't working. They are enabled and when I verify them in fontbook I get a green tick. This is driving me nuts, any ideas?

    Most likely you have some corrupt fonts installed.
    Try validating the fonts using FontBook to find the most obvious problems.

  • Added Font Not Working

    Hi, I am new here.  I just purchased a font (Boycot) and added it to my "fonts" folder.  It works great in MS Word, but doesn't seem to work in Photoshop.  I have CS2 and I'm using a PC.  When I select the text tool and then the "Boycot" font, I see only blank spaces (if that) and then I get an error message.  The two messeges are:  "Could not complete your request because something prevented the text engine from being initialised." or "Could not complete your request because of a program error."  Other font's work fine and as I said... the "Boycot" font works in other programs like MS Word.
    Thanks!

    Now he tells us! You do realise it's now Year 2000+9 don't you?
    Anyway, do a normal OS search for Adobefnt*.lst  (that's .LST!) and delete all instances.
