Alana James Songs Skipping At The Beginning Of the Song

I purchased and downloaded 4 songs by Alana James, and at the beginning of three of the songs (Down The Line, Twenty-Four Hours A Day, and All The World And I) the playback skips for about 5 - 8 seconds. How can I resolve this?
Thanks.

When you're in the iTunes Store screen, click on support in the upper right corner, then find "Download Problems" (approx. mid-page) and click. At the bottom of the screen that opens is a way to email Apple with complaints/comments. Let them know about your bad downloads (maybe the files are bad?) and ask to re-download them.
With hope, they'll listen to the files and make sure they're okay, fix them if they're not, and then give you a chance to download good versions of the songs. Good luck!

I just got iTunes 11.0. From all the previous versions I'm used to being able to return to the beginning of a song by hitting 'enter'. What's the new command for skipping to the head of a song?

Mmmmmm. Works OK for me. I've tried every variation I can think of. Play from playlist, play from library, shuffle on, shuffle off, single song repeat on/off, playlist repeat on/off.
WAIT !!   Now I've found it  !!  It happens when I have the sidebar hidden and play a playlist from the PLAYLIST pane. Hitting Enter then takes me to the FIRST song in the playlist.
WAIT AGAIN !!! In the time it took to write the above, it changed again and works properly. Well properly is not really true. It works if I stay in the PLAYLIST pane. If I switch to the SONGS, ALBUMS or ARTISTS pane, enter does nothing. BUT, if I switch to the GENRES pane, enter starts the first song there. AND, if I've switched away from the PLAYLIST pane and switch back, enter then starts the first song in the playlist.
WOW !! That was a crazy ride. I think we can safely say that there is something awry.

  • While playing songs, each songs skips at the beginning

Recently while listing to my ITunes on "shuffle", each songs skips at the beginning of the song as if there is a delay or something when switching songs. I ran OneCare to check for viruses, and I've tuned up my computer, so I don't know what else I can to do stop this. Please help!

Been having the same problems myself. And I don't know about you but sometimes it'll take a while to get it to actually play the first song.

  • TS1425 My iPod Classic was working fine all day.  Came home and uploaded to voice memos via iTunes, now there is no sound coming from my iPod.  I've used both headphones and a docking station.  The songs don't even begin, they just skip to the next one.

My iPod Classic was working fine all day.  Came home and uploaded 2 files via iTunes, now there is no sound coming from my iPod.  I've tried both headphones and a docking station......nothing.  The songs don't even engage, they skip to the next one.  I've tried rebooting the iPod and still nothing.  Any ideas?

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Have you tried resetting the PMU?
I'm not optimistic that this will help any more than the procedures you've already tried, but it won't hurt to try.
Do you still have your OS 9 installation? If so, try booting into OS 9 and see if the problems with the audio are happening there, too. If so, you can bet it's a hardware problem.
How big is your hard drive and how much space remains available on it? If you don't have your OS 9 installation in order to check out whether it's a hardware problem and you have enough available hard drive space, you may want to try an Archive and Install of the OS in order to make sure it isn't an OS X system-wide problem. If that doesn't do it, you could back up your hard drive and restore your software.
All of this may just be spinning your wheels, but it's all stuff you can try before shelling out a lot of money for repairs.

  • Skips to the next song while in the middle of a track (in Shuffle mode)

On some tracks, my iPod suddenly skips to the next track when it is in shuffle songs mode. This seems to happen randomly in the middle (or close to the beginning...e.g. 30 seconds in) of tracks, and I can't figure out why it isn't playing the whole track. Suggestions?

I imagine sbonewicz looked at a couple of the More Like This threads listed in the panel on the right and found a solution there, such as this one...
Assuming you are in a region where you are allowed to redownload your past music purchases, delete the corrupt tracks from your iTunes library, close and then reopen iTunes, go to the iTunes Store home page, click the Purchased link from the Quick Links section in the right-hand column, then select Music and Not on this computer. You should find download links for your tracks there.
While downloading select Downloads in the left-hand column and make sure Allow Simultaneous Downloads is unchecked.
If the problem persists, or that facility is not yet available in your region, contact the iTunes Store support staff through the "Report a problem" links in your account history, or via Contact Support.

  • ITunes Skipping in the Middle of a Song

Ever since I updated iTunes about 5 months ago it's been skipping in the middle of random songs. This happens to random songs, but always hapens to the songs it effects. It happens to purchased songs from iTunes, as well as other music files from other sources. Any idea how to fix this?
I've got the most current version for iTunes on the mac(my mac is also fully up to date).

I get this too, with the latest edition of iTunes. From what I can tell, it is a corrputed mp3 file. Apparently, older versions of iTunes were able to ignore minor errors in MP3 files. And the newer version just skips to the next song when it encounters one of these minor errors.
To fix it, I used a small utility app I've had for years that is wonderful. It's called "MP3 TRIMMER" by "DeepNiner". http://www.deepniner.net/mp3trimmer/
I don't know what this app sells for now, but it allows you to open and trim off quiet space at the beginning or end of a song, it's useful in the creation of ringtones, and it has a feature that REPAIRS damaged MP3 files
When you repair a file, it's often split into two separate files, but run it thru again and it allows you to join multiple files into one MP3 file. (this feature is super handy for attaching two songs that always go together like "We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions" by Queen. Then those two songs become one file, and ALWAYS play together. But I'm slipping off topic.
Once your file is repaired, the files re-joined (if necessary), then you merely re-import it into iTunes and delete the old one.
I hope this helps, and also, the $10 (or so) cost of the software is totally worth it, IMO. This has been an invaluable tool in my music collection.

  • Redirects playback properly when skipping to the beginning of a WMA track

Redirects playback properly when skipping to the beginning of a WMA track-from firmware .0
Does this mean that there is no longer a /8second delay between song with WMA? I don't use WMAs so I was wondering if I should consider using them over mp3.

I'm trying to upload the firmware to my micro and keep getting the 'something is interfering' message---I followed the info to turn off mediasource and other programs, but keep getting the same message. I read further as far as turning off the processes starting with CT, but when I attempt this I get a warning message--my question is: if I turn off these processes, will I be able to get them going again w/o majorly screwing anything up? Basically, the warning message scared me :smileysurprised:
    Thanx!!

  • Skipping through the songs...

I have had some struggles with my iPod since it was synched with a dying laptop PC computer. After a lot of restores and resets, it seems to be back now. I am now using a different PC desktop successfully with my iTunes. However, I have had a recurrent problem...I live for the Shuffle...so I start Shuffling randomly through my Library and after, say, 3 songs that play normally the iPod begins to skip through the songs rapidly (with the elapsed time of the song always at 0:00 and not proceeding). If I choose a song specifically, then this one song plays but it tries to proceed alphabetically after that and again just skips rapidly through a lot of songs without stopping. If I power it off and back on, it is still in this skipping mode. I have to reset it or resynch it with my computer to get back to temporary functioning again. At first I thought this was related to a new car adaptor I bought, which plugs the long narrow slot at the base of the iPod to my car lighter for both charging and FM radio transmission, because this skipping happens every time in my car. However, it also happens, though less consistently, with just regular play just through the headphones.
So, is this is a common problem? Is it likely a sign the iPod itself is damaged? Or a holdover from my synching-to-the-computer problems?
    Thanks
    Michael

I am having the same issue with my iPod skipping through all songs that I have downloaded from iTunes and only playing the CD uploads. I just have to plug it into my PC and it will refresh from the iTunes but that doesn't do me a lot of good if I am traveling. Anyone with suggestions on how to correct this?

  • Can't listen to any music on my iPhone 5, when I press play it just skips to the next song, does that for a few seconds, then goes back to artist/album/song list. HELP!!

I just updated my iTunes on my laptop to the newest version. I connected my iPhone five to the laptop, and it asked me something about a restore. I wasn't thinking, confused "restore" with "sync" and I just hit yes.... I know, dumb. Anyways, I logged into iTunes on my laptop, downloaded all my purchased songs through the cloud, did a backup, then disconnected it. When I used my phone again, everything was different. All my backgrounds had changed, my apps were rearranged, I had old apps on my phone that I had previously deleted, etc., all signs pointing to me restoring my phone to a previous version.. None of that bothered me, I knew how to deal with it and just changed everything back to the way I had it before the restore, and everything was fine.
Until I went to listen to some music on my iPod. I made my album choice, selected a song, and instead if it playing, it was silence. I looked at my phone and it was skipping through the songs without ever playing a single sound. That bar that shows how far through the song you are? It never moved from zero, but my songs were skipping and skipping and skipping, almost like I was hitting the "skip track" button, only faster.
Should I re-restore my phone? Would that possibly fix it? I've checked, and my iOS and my iTunes and iPod version are all up to date.
PLEASE HELP ME!! I can't find this topic anywhere in support, and I NEEEEEED my music.

    Hello avenmaven,
Thank you for all the information you provided, and congratulations on your new laptop!
I do not think this has to do with setting up iCloud on your new computer.  You might not have the option to manually manage music checked on your devices.  This box would need to be checked if you are dragging content over to your iPhone or trying to delete by pressing the delete key:

  • I download exclusively from itunes and I have been having issues with the music stopping after about 25 seconds either skipping to the next song or just going silent and still moving as if it is playing? how do i fix this?

I have an ipod nano, classic and Iphone4s...i download itunes, it says it is completely downloaded, i go to play it either on my pc or on one of my devices and it plays about 24 seconds of the song and skips to the next song. Sometimes it continues to "play" as in the timer is still moving but there is no sound or picture...how do i fix this? It is really frustrating...i let it go with one or 2 songs but when it is everything I download any more I'm getting fed up. I tried going into the info on the song and options and making sure it didn't have the stop time changed (the solution that apple support gave me) Any solutions? I want to actually listen to the music I download!!!

    i'm just wondering:
    a) why it does this
and b) how to stop it doing this, because it still charges me for the song :/

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • I downloaded an album and the first few songs only play to 15 seconds of the song then the skip to the next one. I cant listen to them past those few seconds. What do I do to listen to the whole song?

So I downloaded the Ellie Goulding album and the first few songs only play up to 15 seconds of the song and then skip to the next one. It wont let me drag the scroller to a further point in the song because when I do it doesnt play and goes to the next one. But it isn't on the other songs. just the first 3 or 4. what do I do?I could rebuu the songs that would be a waste. I have a PC so i am having a hard time calling for support because I dont know the serial number.

  • ITunes 10.5 Stops Playing Some songs mid-song and skips to the next

I migrated a friend’s iTunes library from a Win Vistamachine to Windows 7 Home Premium. Not sure what version of iTunes he had onthe Vista setup, but it’s 10.5.1 on the new machine. In the process, I backedup the sizable (6,000+ songs) iTunes library to an external hard drive, andrestored it to the new Win7 machine.
Now about 10% of his songs will start playing and at randomtimes, will skip to the next song without completing.
I found a fix, but it’s pretty tedious – there’s got to be abetter way to fix this.  Here are thesteps when a song stops playing and jumps to the next:
    Locate     the song in Windows.
Copy     it to the desktop (or another safe spot)
Delete     the song from iTunes, selecting the option to remove it from the hard     drive.
Cut     the song from the desktop and paste it back in the folder where it came     from
In     iTunes:  File>Add Folder to     Library… Navigate to the folder and add it.
Once the song is added back to the library, it plays justfine.
This solution works for identified files. However, with6,000+ songs in a library and no way to determine which files are affected on amacro level, this really is not a solution.
There is no noticeable pattern. This seems to happen toabout 10% of the files in the library. One particular song (Foo Fighters:  The Pretender) was duplicated on the harddrive and in the iTunes library.  BOTHversions of the song stop playing with 0:21 remaining and skip to the nextsong.  However, another song in thelibrary stops playing at 1:01.
Some of the troubled files are .m4p, some are .mp3. Thefiles themselves are not corrupted.  Itested several in QuickTime and they played to the end. Additionally, as shownabove, when they are deleted from the library and restored they play just fine.
I have deleted the com.apple.iTunes.plist as suggested inother articles, but this did not help.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • After installing iOS7 to my iphone 4, I can no longer skip to the next song using BTA in my Honda Civic.

Says it all. I upgraded to IOS7 and now my iphone, which has always been able to skip to the next song using wireless bluetooth. I can't use it on my steering wheel or the controls above the heating/cooling/CD drive. Nothing. I have to unlock my iphone and manually change the song in the music app, no other way. I drive a 2013 Honda Civic... is there any solution to this? Everything was fine until today... I can still call people through my car, it's JUST the music part that is affected. Only the change/skip song functions. It's really bizarre..  any solutions?

I think the developer havent made it compatible with ios7 for iPhone. Goto App store and search for that App. you will have an option to contact developer or report an issue. Good Luck
