Alarm Clock on Nano

My alarm on the 3rd gen Nano works when it wants to. Sometimes it'll go off at the selected time and play music for hours (i have it set to play music for the alarm), sometimes it'll only play music for 1 minute or so, and sometimes the alarm won't even go off. I have it set to repeat every day and it might work once. I constantly have to reset the alarm. Any help or info will be appreciated and thanks in advance.

I have the same problem with my son's new nano 3rd gen. We let it do the firmware upgrade to 1.0.3 when we first plugged it in. We are trying to use it as his alarm clock using powered speakers (the inMotion mini which is great btw). However it seems to be inconsistent as to whether it plays the selected alarm playlist through the speakers. So far, after sitting overnight this has failed three nights in a row. However when testing it during the day we can get it to work most of the time if we are VERY careful about following the same procedure in setting up the alarm. Will try to downgrade as suggested here and confirm this solution.
Another complaint about the alarm function is that once the alarm goes off, pressing the center button with the "snooze" function selected, does NOT silence the playlist. You have to also pause the music in a separate action. My feeling is that you if snooze should always be selected by default, and pressing the center button or any location on the click wheel (pressing, not just touching) should snooze the alarm and the music at the same time.

  • Ipod nano 2nd gen and dock/alarm clock

i have read through alot of the posts and have not seen anything similar to my question.
i got my daughter an ipod nano for xmas.
we really dont leave the computer on alot and she was wanting a docking station/speaker setup. i found one that charges it/ has speakers and is also an alarm clock.
she likes the idea of having the alarm clock with it.
this is the model she got: curtis iMode ip210 link to where it was bought http://hhgregg.com/ProductDetail.asp?SID=0B568914D18A4CBEB2E80A95E8C46043&Produc tID=17180
we have not hooked it up yet because of a small problem maybe. (hooked up to power that is)
it came with a bunch of different adapters for the different ipod versions. well the nano one is incorrect. i guess due to ours being a 2nd gen version.
the ipod goes right on the dock fine with out it.
the little plastic adapter i got with the ipod kinda works in the slot of the radio but would need a little modification to snap in. the difference is the outside shape and would just needed some sanding. i have called the support number for the radio and all i could get from the was its not compatable. and i am not too sure why.
from what i have found out is all the ipod dock connectors are the same and there is no difference. not sure about this just what i have noticed.
i tried to call my local apple store and ask them but that guy started talking about firewire and problems. i told him how it docked and what it was and he still insisted on talking about firewire and those problems. i hung up as it didnt sound like he knew anything.
so now would i be ok in useing the adapter i got with the ipod and makeing some slight mods(sanding outside edge) to it. or is the something totally different between the 1st gen and 2nd gen that would mess up the ipod if put in this unit.
the reason i want this unit as it will replace her current alarm clock and she has a loft bed and its the only unit that we have seen that will fit and is in our price range.
    thank you for your help

The dock adaptor that came with the iPod is meant to fit Apple's universal dock and not a 3rd party accessory.
The reason you are having issues is because although the dock connectors on iPods are all the same (the pins are in the same place), the connector on the second gen nano is in a slightly different place than on the first. If you look at it from the bottom with the iPod face up, it's slightly more to the left. This, and the fact that it has a metal case with rounded edges, has made the new nano incompatible with almost all these type of accessories.
It's been mentioned here several times, and a few people have been able to get the manufacturer of the dock to supply them with an adaptor.

  • Nano problems with Alarm clocks(lik e Luna or others)

I have a new nano 4gb, and an Xtrememac Luna... My old ipod 2nd gen worked perfecly, the new nano has problems instead.. When my alarm function lit the ipod, it does not play the song, but remain in pause... The nano wakes up, but old nano started to play the song, this stands in pause. Why this? Can I hope in a fix or something? many people have this problem...
    Possible solutions?
    thanks in advance

Since there was no reply from Apple so far I called their service today.
The claimed that this problem was not known with the devices which they are selling and that they can't tell about 3rd party alarm clocks.
Big news! Who would have thought of that answer?
Well I then called the manufacturer of my alarm clock which is called "auvisio", one of these cheap copies. They knew about the problem with the nano 3G on thier device and said that they can't offer a solution so far. They offered RMA which I would say is quite nice of them but it doesn't help me much with my wake-up-problem in the morning.
I already settled with the thought that I would have to buy the more expensive Apple stuff but as I read above even Bose seems to have the problem. Complete confusion.
Hopefully firmware 1.0.3 will be released soon and can finally solve these problems. Release 1.0.2 definitely was a step into the opposite direction...

  • Nano 4g will suddenly not work with alarm clock. What happened?

As of the last time I synced it, my iPod nano 4g will not work with an alarm clock. What happened? It doesn't work with mine or with my roommate's, and her iPod will work with my clock. My iPod will PLAY in the clock dock if I turn it on and hit play, but won't wake up and play anymore as an alarm. I tried setting the alarm on the iPod instead of on the alarm clock, and that doesn't work as a fix (it won't make the clock wake up). ARGH.

Yeah, mine won't work. Just started acting up this week.
It doesn't work at all. I can set the alarm for any time, and it simply doesn't go off. I got a replacement phone of the same LG Accolade model, and it doesn't work either.
I switched the clock display settings, thinking there might be a glitch there. Didn't work when I changed it, or when I put it back to my original settings.
    Agh!
    Hi Robert116,
Please ensure that you have software version VX560V04 installed on your phone. For instructions to view software version please visit this LINK.
If you do have the correct software version a LG Accolade VX5600 - Master Reset may resolve the alarm clock issues outlined on your post. A master reset will resolve issues if any of your phone's system files became corrupted.
Please keep in mind that a master reset will erase all data and restore preferences to factory default specifications. Performing a hard reset is only recommended when the existing data has been backed up or is unwanted. Please backup your information before you do a master reset.

  • Alarm clock/speaker for 7th gen Nano?

Is there an alarm clock/speaker on the market for the 7th generation ipod nano?  I can't find one.

Most docks that support the older iPod Nanos should work with the new 7G Nano but will require the lightning to 30 pin adapter.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD823ZM/A/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter
Perhaps somebody will else can chime in on this thread though and link to a product that is specifically stated as being compatible with the 7G Nano.

  • Ipod nano alarm clock

    Hi guys, help needed
I was sent an email from Apple saying that i can use my ipod nano as an alarm clock, and thats true...i can, however it also said, wake up to your favourite track......
heres the problem, all i can get is a setting for a beep, not to have it come alaive at the set time with my favourite track...
    any ideas appreciated
I have the latest software, and use Nike+ on windows xp verion 2
    any help appreciated
    mick

The track you want to wake up to must be in a playlist.
So, create a playlist (with just one track if that's all you want) and select this to wake up to.

  • Alarm clock Fails to ring

There is an annoying bug with the Nano alarm clock whereby it fails to ring, and I hope there is a fix for it.
I get this behaviour mostly by doing the following:
Set a recurring alarm to say 7
After midnight on the date of the alarm and before it is due to ring, change the alarm time to one hour earlier.
result is that the alarm fails to ring.
This is a 5th gen Nano. Any fixes out there?

thx, but it has external speakers though it is hooked up to a Bose system overnight.
The alarm does work the mojority of the time, but in some situations (such as outlined above) does not

  • Alarm Clock not working

I have been unable to find a way to get the Alarm clock function to work on my nano.
When setting to "beep" it should use the internal speaker on the nano, but it is not doing so (even with clicker sound turned on or through headphones or both).
Time is set correctly, turned on, etc. but no alarm.
    Anybody else encountered this problem?

I bought my 4gb black nano online, will I have a problem exchanging it instore here in LA? I want to exchange it, I'm very unhappy with the alarms not working. Even the guy at the genius bar couldn't get them to work.

I want to get a reasonably priced ipod doc/slash alarm clock for my son.  He has a 6th generation ipod classic purchased in December of 2009.  Any suggestions?

  • Alarm in iPod Nano - White 2GB

    Hi,
I am trying to get the Alarm clock to function as desired in my iPod. However, things are not working out.
Yes, I am in the correct city when I try to set the alarm and I have tried "sound" both as a beep and some music. Neither works. The alarm never goes off. After I have set the alarm, I also see the bell in the city where the alarm is set.
Any pointers as to why such behavior? How to resolve this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Here is an extract from the Nano manual, which explains how to use the alarm.
    Setting the Alarm
You can set an alarm for any clock on your iPod nano.
To use iPod nano as an alarm clock:
1 Choose Extras > Clock and then choose the clock you want to set an alarm for.
    2 Choose Alarm Clock.
    3 Set Alarm to On.
4 Choose Time and set the time that you want the alarm to sound.
    5 Choose a sound.
If you choose Beep, you’ll hear the alarm through the internal speaker. If you choose a playlist, you’ll need to connect iPod nano to speakers or headphones to hear the alarm. You’ll see a bell icon next to any clock you set an alarm for.
I have not tried using this feature, and my iPod is at home, so cannot test.

  • Alarm clock/dock station

I have a dock station wich is a alarm clock from iHome. It used to work fine, but now that updated my iphone to ios6 it's not charging anymore and it doesn't recognize music as alarm clock. What should i do?

It would help to know which model iPod you have, since some docking accessories only work with the recent iPod. The 5th gen "video" iPod and the iPod nano seem to be the dividing line between new and old iPods.

  • Alarm clock - inaudible

Hello. I have the IPod Nano 5g and when put the alarm for a morning jog, a problem arises.
If you choose to sound the alarm settings - a signal, the morning shows in the dynamics of just one short beep, which you can not hear.
If you choose to sound the alarm settings - playlist, the music playing in the morning not in the dynamics, playing in the headphones, which is also impossible to hear (if I did not sleep with headphones). It turns before each bedtime to remove the headphones from the socket? But it is not practical.
Is it possible to do something to music alarm clock fed to the speaker when the headphones are included? Or at least given a choice in setting the alarm sound - a signal that was a normal tone?
Maybe this can be corrected in the new firmware IPod Nano 5g?
Apologies for the Google-translator. Sincerely, Alex from Ukraine.

  • Alarm Clock - Wake to a playlist

I think Apple should enable the alarm clock to allow you to wake to a playlist, in addition to the ringtones. I love to listen to music in the morning and I miss how my 1st gen nano could do this but 3 years later the iPhone cannot. I think Apple usually thinks of everything, so I was really surprised when I couldn't wake to a playlist. Please, make this a feature for a future update.

Have you provided feedback to Apple?
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
Otherwise even if Apple doesn't supply it when the 3.0 update comes around App's are meant to be getting access to the Playlist/Music so i'm sure one of the alarm clock app's will have it
