Alarm doesn't turn off

When my alarm rings in the morning (or any other time in fact) the screen becomes completely unresponsive, meaning I cannot use the slider to turn it off. The only solution I have found is to push the power button repeatedly try to get to the normal lock screen (which is also unresponsive at first) and mess around until that lets me unlock the phone go to the settings screen and turn the alarm off. Or simply reset the phone. This is a horrible way to wake up in the morning.
I have tested the alarm after turning off the Smart Connect "Night" setting, and I have also deleted all the clock app data, but the problem persists.
The alarm clock worked fine at first - it happened a couple of times, but has now happened for the last four mornings in a row or whenever I test the alarm during the day.
Does anyone know what's going on?

In this case I suggest that you perform a software repair on your phone via Update Service:

Download and install SUS to your PC, follow the instructions that appear.
Note that when you perform this software repair, your personal data will be lost. Don't forget to make a back up before.

If you are in Hong Kong, go to Digital Trade, 1/F, Sincere Plaza, Argyle Street, and it will cost you 120-150HKD, but before you go check that your power button and home button are working correctly, if not press as hard as you can, hope this will help.

  • Battery percentage indicator doesn't turn off

Hello i have an iphone 4s with the latest upgrade (7.1.2) and i discovered that it simply doesn't turn off the battery indicator level, even disabling it at general settings at all.
I have recently received an new iphone from apple care and when i get my hands to it, in "new iphone" mode, it comes disabled by default.
But when i dit the restore backup via itunes this thing doesnt turn off.
    Sorry bad english, im brazilian.
    Thank you

    Hey Rafacandido,
Thanks for the question. Let’s see if we can isolate the issue further. To do so, try restarting/resetting your device:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If the issue persists after a restart, let's try a reset of your settings as outlined below:
    Reset iPhone settings - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph7a2a9399b
Reset iPhone settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset, then choose an option:
Reset All Settings:  All your preferences and settings are reset.
And finally, if the issue persists you can try a back up and restore as new:
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
After erasing and setting up as a new device, your device is now in a factory configuration. Test to determine if erasing and setting up as a new device resolved the issue. Content on the device may have caused unexpected behavior.
If the issue is still present, you may want to contact Apple Support.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • ICal alarms will not turn off

I have duplicate calendar entries and alarms i cannot turn off.  I have:
deleted the entries driving the alarms
deleted the calendars containing these entries
    uninstalled iCal
removed Calendar Cache and all files from ~\Library\Calendars
created a clean account on my Mac and synched that with MobileMe to clear my MobileMe calendars

More or less the same problem. No iCal even installed anymore on my computer, alarms keep popping up. OS X 10.6.8...

  • My macbook doesn't turn off and filesystem verify or repair failed

My macbook doesn't turn off unless I take out the battery, which I did not do at this time. Used disk utility and it came up with Error: filesystem verify or repair failed. Missing thread record id=2099508. Incorrect number of thread records.  Invalid file count. Should be 1042169 instead of 1042170. The volume needs to be repaired - 7%. Okay, shall I take out the battery, then put it back in, and on startup press D and do a hardware test? Or what?  Thank you.  Ellen
    These are the MacBook's specs:
    Processor Name:
    Intel Core 2 Duo
       Processor Speed:

       Total Number Of Cores:

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I had work to do on my computer, and I didn't want to rsk messing around with it until I finished.  So, I removed the battery in order to turn off the computer, then restarted it , holding down the D key at the same time. The computer started up, but no screen came up to continue. So I again removed the battery, though I did first try shutting it down the correct way, and aain restarted with holding the D key down. Nothing happed no hardware test.  So, everything is backed up now, and is my next step to insert my Mac OS X install disc 1, or do I earase everything and install it,?  And am I supposed to install the disc while holding down the C key?
    Thank you.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard Caps Lock light doesn't turn off

    Hello
Recently the caps lock button light doesn't turn off on my apple wireless keyboard. Anybody know how to turn it off. Every time i press a key, the light dims a little, but when not pressed, its fully on. I tried resetting it, taking the batteries off, unpairing it. But nothing =(
    hmmm

This doesn't turn off your light, but you should check out CapSee on Apple's downloads page. (www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/systemdiskutilities/capsee.html) It puts a notification pane (or bezel) on the screen letting you know when you turn caps lock on and off. Looks just like the volume and brightness bezels. Very slick, and it's free.

  • IMac 27" Intel core i7 doesn´t turn off.

I have a iMac 27" and when i want to turn it off, it doesn´t work. you can see a white background with a little circle. What can i do that my iMac turns off?

Hi, first off - your profile shows an older version OS - is this correct?
Hopefully you have the latest Updates etc,, Initially I would try to Boot from the original apple disks.
The HD might be the culprit. so hopefully you have TM or another bootable back-up!
As your Mac is relatively new I would call AppleHelp or visit your local GeniusBar or AASA..
ps. I spent many happy hours in Liverpool (the Beatles era) - Great City, Great People....L

  • Ipod doesn't turn off and volume doesn't work

My Ipod touch is 2 months old--all of sudden it wont' turn off and the volume doesn't respond.
I have charged it, synched it and done a restore--nothing fixes.
It sometimes will allow me to turn the volume off (once a day) but then most of the time doesn't respond
I can't click "home" and "off" at the same time b/c all that does is turn the voice recognition on.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Try placing your iPod in Recovery Mode and restoring it to factory settings/defaults via iTunes:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808.  Otherwise, make a reservation at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store.
    Hope this helps!

  • Screen not blanking properly (Backlight doesn't turn off)

I've been facing a weird problem lately. Whenever I leave my laptop on for a while when I'm logged on in X (I use KDE), the screen turns off after 10 minutes. All well and good. But whenever the laptop idle when logged on to a virtual console, after 15 minuites of idling, the display blanks, but the backlight stays on. The display becomes a wall of white. Is there any way to make the backlight switch off as well along with the screen blanking? I'm not using pm-utils or acpid to manage power on the virtual console right now. I'm using the logind.conf defaults.

For future reference, don't assume that people will see your signature.  Not only do most people disregard signatures, but there is the ability to turn off the signatures in your user settings.

  • Star Trails doesn't turn off view screen LED

When using Star Trails on my A-6000, I would like to turn off the LED view screen to save power and eliminate some light pollution.  The Star Trails instructions give a clear set of steps to do this.  These steps move the display to the view finder - ok, but insufficient.  The LED continues to operate, heat the sensor, increase the noise, and burn the very limited battery.
If I place a piece of sticky paper over the eyepiece, the LED does actually turn off.
Any chance of an automated software controlled stickey paper?  Thanks

You can force a power-off by holding the power button down for 7 to 10 seconds.  If it reoccures post back for instructions on debugging it.

  • Displays backlight doesn't turn off completely!?

When I fade off the backlight of the display there is a spot in the center where i still can see what is displayed, the rest is dark. It seems also that this spot grew in the last time a bit.In the dark this spot is clearly more light than the rest of the display. its about the size of a golf ball.
Anyone who has the same "problem"? Any suggestions?
    Thanks for the help!

Are you sure it is not just a result of room light bleeding in through the back of the case where the Apple logo is? With the MacBook turned off or sleeping, look at the dark screen while holding the MacBook up to a window. You will see that outside light from the window shines through the Apple logo and the screen. Could that be what you are seeing?

  • My Imac (OS X 10.7.4) doesn't turn off after last software update.

The problem is this: when I try to turn off my IMac, the desktop disappears and the display becomes white, without anything else. It may stay in this way for several hours, maybe days.
I only can turn it off by pushing the on/off button for ten seconds.
The start up is also very slow.
    Any suggestions?

Try an SMC Reset and a PRAM Reset:
    SMC Reset
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and disconnect attached devices.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
    Reset PRAM
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P and R.
You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Zen Xtra Backlight doesn't turn off, OS free

A problem started today where my 40gb Zen Xtra can no longer get past the EAX screen, and stays lit the entire time. I'm unable to turn it off except by removing the battery, and as soon as I put the battery back in, it automatically turns back on and freezes again. I reset, then I went to recovery mode and cleaned up the OS, but the same problem persists.
I notice that at some point from the time the player turns on to the time it freezes, I feel my hard dri've stop vibrating, and I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
    Any suggestions or ideas?
    Thanks!

my zen xtra has done the same thing. it wont turn off. it wont go any further. i have gone to the rescue mode and tried all the options except reloading the os because i am afriad then i wont even have a os since it wont connect to my computer thru USB either. this is the second time i have had a major problem with it. the first time it completely failed on me and went to rescue mode everytime i turned it on. i eventually had to get a rma for it because the hard dri've had failed completely. will i need to do that again cause i have looked at every piece of advice available and nothing has helped.

  • IPhone 4 OS 7.1.2 doesn't turn off after notification

After I receive a text, email notification or missed phone call, the notification screen usually turns off after a few seconds. It's gotten to where about 40% of the time it just stays on until I manually hit the On/Off button. At first I thought it was because the phone was plugged up but it's also happening when it is unplugged.
Anyone else having this issue or know of a fix?

    Try a reset first.
Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)
