Alarm Function/Application for Mac

Is there anything somewhat close to the alarm functionality on an iPhone running IOS for macbook computers? Or, any applications/apps from the App Store that are close in functionality/ease?

Hi ChristianfromFlorida,
Apple’s Calendar application is capable of doing what you want - setting off an alarm at a specified time. See this page -
Apple - OS X Mavericks - See everything the new OS X can do.
http://www.apple.com/osx/whats-new/features.html#calendar
In particular you can use Calendar’s alerts feature to have your MacBook perform various actions to tell you of the alert. See Calendar’s help system.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Best,
Brett L

What's the best duplicates finder application for Mac OS X?

Thank you both!  I ended up going for DupeGuru because it was free and it worked well.   Easy Duplicate Finder baited me with the promise of free download then when the search was over I got the "buy the software" if I wanted to delete more than 10 files.
DupeGuru worked well and so far I have not been asked for money.
    This solves my question.

Can i send the application for mac as a gift to my friend?
    Thank you for your help.

App store does not have this facility.    You could send an iTunes gift card but the cards are not internationally acceptable so it would have to be one for the country your friend lives in.  Read this document from Apple.

  • Looking for a More Robust Address Book Application for Mac

    Hi-
I have been assigned the task of consolidating all of our mailing lists into a single file. The final database will be 10,000 entries.
    Required:
    - normal address book fields (name address, phones, email)
    - six customizable fields (pull down menu or alpha)
    - easy print to Avery laser labels for bulk labels
    - easy print to Dymo label printer for one at a time labels
    - email bulk mail or export functionality to send bulk emails
    - interoperability with Apple Address Book, Apple Mail etc a plus
Can the Apple Address Book do this or is there a third part application that will do the trick?
    Thanks in advance!
    LAHD

Address Book is robust, but it's a contact manager, and you're wanting it to be a CRM application. There are a variety of CRM applications available some with sales tracking and others without:
    Daylite
    Redlien Account Executive
I'm told the developer for Redlien is not actively working on the product anymore, but I have no confirmation of that from the company.

  • Proxy application for mac

    Hi;
Is there any Proxy application for the Mac? I used UltraSurf on my PC. Is there any similar application for the Mac?
I have already tried NetShade but proxies provided are not that helpful.
    Thank you.

I have found a site that gives an Unofficially ported version of ultrasurf for mac. I created a video about it which is on youtube. http://youtu.be/6tUzvcyEnYQ
Remember this is unofficial version of the Ultrasurf software.
For copyright reasons I must mention:
Ultrasurf is the flagship software product from UltraReach. This software is free for your personal use and can be downloaded officially from UltraReach.com http://www.ultrasurf.us
UltraReach grants to you to use and distribute this software, but you are not allowed to disassemble, decompile, or reverse engineer such software. • Flash Application for Mac won't open from DVD disc

I've created a Flash application for a Mac and I have the latest security fix/update for Flash (that was supposed to fix Flash Players and etc.). I've burned the file onto a CD and a DVD. The file plays/opens from the CD but it won't play from the DVD.
Has anyone run into this before?

Well I found some sort of solution. I was burning both discs from a PC. I finally burned the DVD from a Mac and now it works!

I operate an iMac on OSX version 10.6.8 and for years have been using Skype.

Please tell me where I can get the old application back preferably not through any third-party site. I went to the official Skype site but could not find it. Thank you.

  • Numbers application for Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5?

    Hello,
I am looking for the application "Numbers", but it seems like I can't download it on my Mac (as written above it is under Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5.
Any idea if it is compatible? How can I download the app in an earlier version, available on this OS?
    Thanks for any possible solution!

Spelling correction.  Is THERE a substitute mac app to chat with iOS users?

  • What is the best e-mail application for Mac OS X?

Currently I use the e-mail client in Netscape 7.2. It seems somewhat dated, but it's what I've used for years. On my Mac I also have Mail (that comes with OS X) and Entourage (which comes with Microsoft Office). Both of them seem more advanced than Netscape. So I think it's time to switch.
Also, I have downloaded Netscape 9 beta, and once the real version is released I will probably ditch 7.2 anyway.
    Any advice is appreciated.

I'll second the recommendation for Mail, but I'll also say that Thunderbird is the spiritual, if not legitimate child of Netscape mail. There is a new version of the Netscape browser, but I don't think there is a mail application.
Thunderbird gets great reviews. Since I user Mail I can't say much more, other than it is a second option.

  • Applications for macs

i'm having trouble convincing my father to let me buy a mac over a pc. one of his biggest concerns is that certain applications wont work on a mac that i may need for college. are there any applications that are compatible with a pc but not with a mac? and, if so, is there a way to get just about any application onto a mac even if it is only compatible with a pc?

Let your father know that you can run Windows in various ways on an Intel Mac. You can use emulators like VMWare Fusion or Parallels. You can use Apple's Boot Camp and boot right into a Windows partition and run the Mac like it's a Window machine (ugh) or you can use an application called Crossover which can run a selection of Windows apps right in the OS X environment (just check their website to see what apps work).
Please keep in mind that you DO have to buy a copy of Windows XP (SP2) or Vista for use in an emulator or Boot Camp.
    Good luck.

  • Palm Desktop Application (for Mac) crashes when I try to export Datebook module in vCal format

I'm trying to get my Palm OS Datebook data into iCal. When I attempt the export from Palm Desktop in vCal format, the process appears to start; as it nears the end, the entire Desktop application crashes. The file to which I'm allegedly saving the exported info contains no data.
The exact same thing has happened using both Mac OSX 10.4 and 10.5 on two different Macs. I already uninstalled and re-installed the latest version of Desktop software, so that's not the problem.
Any ideas about how to get my Palm Datebook info into iCal, even if it requires a third party application?
    Thanks in advance,

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what this response means: you can just use your Treo as the liason between the 2 when you switch sync softwares.
I didn't know it was possible to sync the Treo to iCal and/or Address Book. Can you tell me how? I'd be happy to switch sync software if I knew what to switch to.
I'm sorry to have to ask you to spell it out a bit more for me, but appreciate in advance your willingness to do so.
