Alarm functions on Centro?

It's really convenient for me to use my phone as a daily alarm to wake me up.  I just got my first Palm (Centro) and I am somewhat disappointed in the apparent lack of this seemingly obvious function.  I can't seem to find a way to have a daily recurring alarm that will keep continually sounding until I press a button (not just beeping once, or once every few minutes, because that would never wake me up!)  The closest thing I can find is the World Clock alarm, but that has to be manually re-set every day.  I can set a recurring alarm in the Calendar, but it only sounds once every few minutes.  Does the Centro really not have this functionality, or am I just blind?  Will I need to install a third-party app to get my phone to do this?  If so, what do you recommend?  I'd prefer something free or cheap.
Thanks in advance!

Try WatchMaker and Belltime at http://www.steilberg.eu . Belltime is shareware (WM isn't), but there is a freeware mode, which has a recurring alarm, stopwatch, countdown timers, and a few other things. I just run it in freeware mode right now. Too cheap to actually buy it. (I know, I know... Besides, I can't figure out how to buy it. There isn't a button or anything.)The alarm works quite well for me. Looks great on my T5. Luckily, it will also work in 320 x 320, too. You might want to take a look at http://www.freewarepalm.com/ , http://www.handango.com , and http://swc.palm.com .

  • Bluetooth Keyboard driver disables Palm Tx Alarm function

    Dear Folks,
I have had a Palm TX for quite a while, and I use it frequently for e-mail and access on the road.  During a recent trip, my Universal I/R keyboard died, and I picked up a new Palm Bluetooth keyboard 3245WW.  I've noticed that when the keyboard driver is enabled, my Alarm function no longer works!  The Palm turns on at the appointed time, but unless one manually selects the "!" icon, the alarm never sounds.  This doesn't happen when the driver is disabled.  It took quite a while to figure this out...
It's interesting that when the bluetooth keyboard is apparently working fine and I'm inside of Versamail trying to answer a message, the first keystroke sometimes crashes the program and causes a soft reboot of the Palm.
Note:  I have left the IR driver on the Palm, but it is turned off.  I also have Documents to Go version 8.003 on the Palm.
Any ideas?  I have the most recent Bluetooth Driver (11.08).
    Thanks,
    Curt B.

    Hi brenec,
just curious, did you fix your problem? Did it resolve the problem with crashing the device?
I have the Bluetooth keyboard since about 2 weeks and in principle it is working great. However, I experienced that the Palm crashes and does a soft reboot more often than usual. In particular this happens when I am typing some text on the keyboard. As far as I can tell, this happens when writing text using Documents to Go 7.00?, but it might also happen in other applications; the problem is that I use the keyboard almost exclusively with Documents to Go.  Luckily this does not happen all the time, but on the other hand, I already lost text that I typed on the Palm.
One pecularity is (and that reminds me to the Alarm problem) that I noticed that the Palm switches on by itself. No alarms are showed or something similar, just the screen lights up. The Palm did this even before using the Bluetooth keyboard.
I use the keyboard quite often as some kind of daily journal and to think loud (brainstorming). I find the smallness of the device very nice and that the Palm is ready to work after switching on. I used the Universal Wireless Keyboard before and didn't had these crashes. I removed the old infrared keyboard driver, but I did not do a "spring clean".
Any idea? If I can't fix the problem, I need to go for an alternative platform after 10 years of having had a Palm device :-(

  • Question about the alarm function.

Has anyone used the alarm function on the iPhone?
This may be a dumb question, but does the phone need to be in sleep mode, not shut off for alarms to work? If that is the case (I expect it is) would it be best to leave on while charging overnight for an early morning alarm to work properly?
I think I've answered my own question, because I doubt an alarm can go off if the phone is off, but probably would if it was just asleep. Any thoughts on the alarm function in general?
    Thanks,
    CD3

CD3, I would also assume the same but I do not really
know the answer. To answer your question, yes. I use
the Alarm function everyday thought I do not know why
as I get up before the !@# thing wakes me up.
Your answer is funny. I only need the alarm to wake me for a flight I'm taking to a show in Denver in Sept. Don't want to miss the flight because the alarm didn't work because the phone was completely off.
So the non lazy way to answer my question...I'm going to try it myself. If it works one way or the other I'll mark my question answered and get myself a point or 2

  • Alarm Function/Application for Mac

Is there anything somewhat close to the alarm functionality on an iPhone running IOS for macbook computers? Or, any applications/apps from the App Store that are close in functionality/ease?

    Hi ChristianfromFlorida,
Apple’s Calendar application is capable of doing what you want - setting off an alarm at a specified time. See this page -
Apple - OS X Mavericks - See everything the new OS X can do.
    http://www.apple.com/osx/whats-new/features.html#calendar
In particular you can use Calendar’s alerts feature to have your MacBook perform various actions to tell you of the alert. See Calendar’s help system.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Clock: alarm function not going on at right time!

Just updated from iOS 4.0.2 to 4.1 but now I'm having the following problems with the alarm functions:
    1. Alarm does not start if phone is switched off now
    2. Alarms set are starting 1hr earlier than the set time.
Currently Sydney changed to daylight savings, but the clock time is fine. Tried deleting and reinputting but still doesn't work. If I'm just testing the alarm function by setting a few minutes ahead, it goes at right time...
    Anyone help?

It's a bug affecting people in Australia and New Zealand. Apparently it is due to be fixed very soon in a firmware update.

  • Using Timer and Alarm functions with headphones

I would like to use the timer/alarm in a library setting to help me study. Even though I have my headphones connected properly (i.e. music only plays through the headphones) the timer/alarm notifications are coming through the external speaker. I can't find a way to adjust this. Am I missing something? Please help me stop getting dirty looks in the library. Thanks!

I just tried that. the calender alarm only goes off in the ear phones. But I am trying to work in intervals of 30mins work 10mins off, which would be a pain to fill my calendar with. At the moment, I am resorting to using the stop watch function. Thanks for the suggestion

  • Alarm function on E5

I have tried, and failed, to find this function, on previous Nokia models, it has been in the General part of  settings under date and time, but not on the E5.  There is a clock alarm tone setting and a snooze time setting, but no way, that I can see, of setting the alarm time - can anyone help me on this?

  • Why is the alarm function disabled when iPhone is switched off ?

Can anyone explain why iPhone doesn't have this feature ? Most other smartphones do. Many thanks in advance for your replies.

We cannot explain why the iPhone doesn't have this function, but you should use it as wake up alarm turning on the airplane mode so nobody can bother you with calls or texts during your sleep, and when you wake up and your alarm sounds you could turn off the airplane mode.

  • N70 Vodafone - Auto Keylock and Alarm Functions

the N70 doesn't have an auto key lock function, i've found a program on another website which should put one on my phone but when I try to install it using the PC Suite my phone says "Installation Security Error - Unable to Install". Is this a problem with my phone, the program or my network. The program i downloaded was:
    http://my-symbian.com/7650/download/search.php?name=JJLKeyLock
any help would be gratefully received.

There is actually an auto keylock facility on the N70. If you go to Tools-Settings-Security-Phone & Sim you will see the option for Autolock Period. You need to choose a time in minutes and then enter your security code(default 12345 on most phones). Your keypad will then lock automatically. The only downside to this is you need to enter your security code again to unlock the keypad.
    Hope this helps.

  • Alarm function not displaying end/snooze option

Hi. My Z3 compact has stopped showing the end/snooze screen when sounding an alarm. I wither have to restart the phone or amend the alarm time to stop the sound. Turning the alarm off manually in the app doesn't work either. I am only running standard time/alarm apps on the phone. Please advise a solution when available.

  • Ical itunes alarm functionality glitch

I am trying to use ical and itunes to use my Mac Mini as an alarm clock. I have the following AppleScript:
    tell application "itunes"
    run
    play user playlist "Morning Songs"
    end tell
I have an ical alarm that opens this file at 6:30 am. I also have the energy preferences wake up the computer at 6:29 a.m.
Most things work fine. The computer wakes up at 6:29 (the LED stops fading and remains bright) but the monitor is not illuminated. And the music does not play. However, if I just touch the mouse, the selected playlist begins to play instantaneously, almost as if everything was loaded and ready to go.
What do I need to do to ensure that the computer actually plays the music by itself, without the human intervention?
    Thanks

Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Thanks for the suggestions. I did a smash & grab of several things that seem to have corrected the issue. To answer your question, I had deleted the "Home" and "Work" calendars from iCal (part of the default calendars) a long time ago, but they decided to re-appear for syncing (in iTunes, not in iCal). I tried the following, which seemed to work.
    1. Added the "Home" and "Work" calendars back to iCal I had deleted awhile ago (but still show up in iTunes for iPhone syncing).
    2. Turned on .Mac syncing for Address Book and iCal (had never been on)
    3. Reset sync history as you suggested in iSync (though it told it isn't used for .Mac syncing).
    4. Deleted the Home and Work calendars from iCal. Quit iCal.
    5. Performed a repair permissions through Disk Utility.
    5. Performed a .Mac sync through System Preferences, through the Advanced tab Reset Sync Data button, replacing anything on .Mac with my PB data.
    6. Once that was done, performed a sudo periodic daily, weekly & monthly through Terminal.
    7. Next did a sudo update_prebinding -root / -force through Terminal.
    8. Rebooted. Zapped PRAM 3 times (option-cmd-P-R) during reboot.
This smash & grab fixed the calendars showing up iTunes inappropriately. Not sure which part was most effective, but I didn't feel like doing a detailed troubleshoot -- I just wanted it fixed. Side-effect: my .Mac e-mail account did not show up in iTunes for syncing once I fixed the iCal issue. Solution: with iTunes still open, I opened Mail, changed an account setting, saved it, changed it back to the original setting, saved it again. iTunes now showed my email account as available for syncing.
Seems as if the sync process could use some QA still. Shouldn't have to mess like this with Apple-to-Apple apps & hardware. This is the sort of stuff I used to have to mess with using iSync & Missing Sync with my Treo 650. Oh well, at least it's fixed for now.

  • IPhone Alarm Functions

Iphone's alarms appear to only work when the iphone is in 'standby'. My previous phones would turn themselves on to alarm... is there a way to set this up on the iphone?

This is a real inconvenience. After years with Nokias on which the alarm works when the phone is off (and for which I could carry a spare battery), I now have to remember to leave the iPhone on, using up precious juice, and with the risk of being woken by a call in the night if I have forgotten to put the iPhone on silent...
I have just ordered a Philips SCM7880 universal USB charger as a solution to the juice problem - this product is a universal USB charger which has it's own accumulator, so one can recharge even if away from a power socket. A great idea. Let's see how it works.
