Alarm glitch and general slowness. Help?!

Ok since I updated my iPhone to the ios4 my phone has been quite slow and freezes ALOT. First of all any suggestions on that?
Secondly I noticed my alarms were going slow in the morning and when I tried to turn them off the phone would simply freeze. I checked my alarms and it turns out that all the alarms I had set have multiplied by around 50 each so I now have about 2000 alarms all around the same time?! I sat down and started deleting them but when I had finally finished and closed the clock app and reopened it they ALL reappeared. Needless to say I was a bit annoyed. Help pleasssee?!

tl;dr version: it's glitchy and slow, it freezes and lags especially when typing, it isn't a hardware problem, and it's awful.

Did you find any reproducible steps for the crash?
Regarding the slowness you are speaking about, do you face this issue only when you add hotspot quiz slide to your existing project or will it happen even if you create a new project and add hotspot quiz slide to it?

  • Need help with Leopard: screen saver glitch and very slow internet

I performed an erase and install leopard 10.5.1 on my upgraded G4 AGP Sawtooth Computer several times. Has anyone had the following 2 problems with leopard and any suggestions to solve them? Apple telephone support has not helped thus far. The Issues include:
1-Internet surfing (Safari and Firefox) is extremely slow worse than dial-up. I have verizon fios. Upgrading leopard to 10.5.3 and upgrading Safari did not help and took about 10 hours to download when it should have been quick.
2- A screen saver glitch: When I click on screen saver such as beach I get this message. " Screen saver "beach" did not load properly. Error Can't load bundle" When I click on the screen savers folder, there is nothing in it. Desktop pictures work fine.
    Computer upgrades include:
Processor-OWC Mercury Extreme [email protected] 2MB L3 Cache
    2GB memory
    Two 120GB hardrives.
    Firmware is updated.
Thus far, all this was done:
Apple exchanged install disk. Same results with new disk.
I ran disk utility and everything is ok including permissions.
I performed a safe boot with apple support.
I Threw away cache folder and com.apple.safari.plist
Tried firefox with same very slow surfing results.
I even checked file system structure problem fsck -yf. Everything was ok
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Althought the behavior is the same in all three accounts, if all are working accounts I would suspect there is something all of them have installed that could be the source of the problem. Try creating a new admin account, and leave it just the way Apple creates it--don't add anything nor modify it in any way. Log into that account and see if it works correctly.
If that account is also misbehaving, try restarting, and when you hear the chime hold down the Shift key so that you boot into Safe Mode (you'll see a notice in the splash screen about being in Safe Mode). The boot will take longer (perhaps even considerably longer) as the system runs disk repair, empties some caches, disables all third party startup items, as well as all Apple startup items not strictly necessary for the machine to run. See the menus and Dock now behave correctly.
Since the problem is evidently somewhat intermittent in nature it may take some patience to discover what is wrong. You might also disconnect everything that didn't come with the Mac, reboot, and use only the Apple keyboard and Apple mouse and run for a bit to see how that works. If you are using a third party mouse that required installing something that would be my guess as a "prime suspect" for the cause of the problems.

  • Terrible Mac Pro graphics glitches and garbling - please help!

Hi all, I have a terrible problem with my early 2008 (8 core) mac pro. Everytime I am editing with final cut, after around 5 minutes, the contents of the screen will start to act very strangely and before I know it, the whole screen is garbled with multicolored shapes and lines (see screenshots below). The system will then completely crash and I will have to hold the power button to shut down. Yesterday, I took it to my local apple store and they put it down to a broken graphics card and fitted a replacement, today its happening again!
Please take a look at the screen shots posted and let me know if any of you have had this problem or if you can help to shed some light on this issue for me.
I'm running an ATI Radeon HD 2600 / snow leopard.

    thanks for reading.

Hi, and welcome to the forums! I actually had the same problem though I don't use pro apps. But how I resolved mine was to de-activate that german based overclocking program called ZDnet overclock utility. For you it maybe a different problem. But if I were you, I'd get rid of the 2600 as its a slow card and lacks OPENCL.
In general, I would just pick up a GT120 or 4870 and get rid of the 2600 as its an older card. It seems the 2600 works better under Leopard than in Snow Leopard.

  • Streaming stutters on Apple TV or any device and generally slow WiFi

I replaced an older Netgear 802.11 n router with the AirPort Extreme 802.11 ac in hopes that it would increase reliability, range, and speed. I have a 100 Mbps connection to my ISP which is Charter. I actually get slower speed tests now with the AirPort on all of my devices that use 802.11 n network adapters and if more than one device is streaming video over WiFi I get stutter and pauses in the video a lot more than I did with the Netgear. I do have a stronger signal which I had hoped for.
The main reason I replaced the Netgear router is because I would have to reset it about once per day to maintain good speeds for streaming video. I cut the cable and use Apple TV exclusively on 3 TVs. Right after a reset the Netgear would get over 80 Mbps over WiFi. Direct cable to the router would get over 100 Mbps and direct connection never lost speed over time.
With the Airport Extreme I get about 45 Mbps or less over WiFi although the direct cable is still over 100 Mbps. From all I read about the AirPort before I bought it I expected to see it handle more WiFi connections without speed and quality loss compared to the old Netgear router. I am hoping someone can tell me what configuration parameter I need to change to fix all of this. I would really like to get it working and don't want to have to bring it back to the store. but I would rather put a timer on my old router to reset it daily than get the slow down in speed.
As a side note, when using the AirPort my new iPhone 6 plus gets over 100 Mps over WiFi, when I do a speed test, but it too is choppy and slow in streaming if other devices are streaming.
Thanks for any advice you can give.

Sounds like I have the same issue as you do. I also upgraded to the AirPort Extreme 802.11ac and have an Express 802.11ac and an 802.11n as extensions on the same floor as my Extreme. My AppleTV is wired through LAN to the Extreme. Buffering from my MacBook Pro using Beamer app works alright but it's recorded video from my iOS devices that lag. At first I thought my 4S was too old and slow to use AirPlay well, but my iPad Air has the same buffering issues. Now I have an iPhone 6 Plus and I need to wait until the entire video buffers before bothering to press play, as videos shot on here don't buffer well.
I removed the 5GHz network and restarted the Extreme without any luck. I was hoping having the faster 802.11ac on the 6 would help. I'm using the 1080p AppleTV version, I guess it's the third generation. Any help would be appreciated!

  • Safari not loading sites and generally slow

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this but for the past week Safari has been acting a bit weird.
I have an iMac G5, and two MacBookPros and on all three Safari Version 4.0.5 (5531.22.7) refuses to load web pages as it used to. Either they won't load and I have to stop the load and press refresh in which case they load reeaalllly slowly if at all. I've looked for up dates, gone through Disk Utlilty and Repair, I've reset Safari, I've rebooted, but all to no avail.
Is anyone else in the same boat ? If so, which life-boat do we use ?

    Try this:
(First, if yours is an Intel Mac, check that Safari is not running in Rosetta, which is enough to slow it to a crawl. If you are running Snow Leopard, run Safari in 32 bit not 64 bit. Control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode)
Do you have enough RAM? Less than 1GB can cause slowness. Is your hard drive too full? Less than 15%, or 15GB, of free space can also cause slowness.
Adding DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security:
If you are using a single computer: Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2296
If your computer is part of a network: please refer to this page: http://www.opendns.com/start/bestpractices/#yournetwork and follow the advice given.
(An explanation of why using Open DNS is both safe and a good idea can be read here: http://www.labnol.org/internet/tools/opendsn-what-is-opendns-why-required-2/2587 /
Open DNS also provides an anti-phishing feature: http://www.opendns.com/solutions/homenetwork/anti-phishing/ )
Wikipedia also has an interesting article about Open DNS:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenDNS
Whilst in System Preferences/Network you should also turn off 'IPv6' in your preference pane, as otherwise you may not get the full speed benefit (the DNS resolver will default to making SRV queries). If you want to know what IPv6 is:
This is Apple's guidance on iPv6:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8708.html
Click on Apply Now and close the window.
    Restart Safari, and repair permissions.
If that didn't do it, then try this as well:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
    form values
    download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
    com.apple.Safari.plist
    Repair permissions (in Disk Utility).
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.
    More useful information here:
    http://guides.macrumors.com/SpeedupSafari
Less likely, but possible, is that the slowness is caused by a Trojan such as the one called 'DNSChanger' or 'OSZ.RSPlug', which can alter the DNS settings of your network connection. This particular Trojan can be inadvertently installed if you have come across certain Quicktime movies where got a window stating that you have to download and install a particular codec in order to see the video.
If you have agreed to that installation, your system can be infected and your DNS settings altered, which results in your system using the wrong DNS servers, which can slow web surfing to a crawl.
This can be fixed by downloading and running a freeware utility called DNSChanger Removal Tool which you can download from here:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/33696
Once you have run that utility you have to re-boot your Mac, then reset Safari, and re-enter your DNS settings in System Preferences/Network.

Since the IOS 5 update my iPad seems to run a lot slower connecting to websites and general use? Can anyone help?

Digging a little deeper on here, and I've Cleared the Safari cache, and rebooted , so i'll see if it is any better!!!!!

  • So, my ipod touch is running 5.1.1 and is slow and sometimes unresponsive. According to Apple it will not update to iOS 6. It is a 32GB, 3rd Generation. I want the new features but it's making me mad. I do not want to jailbreak. HELP?!

So, my IPod touch is running 5.1.1 and is slow and sometimes unresponsive. According to Apple it will not update to iOS 6. It is a 32GB, 3rd Generation. I want the new features but it's making me mad. I do not want to jailbreak. As this would void my device from Apple. I love the features iOS 6 has to offer but I don't want to put out anymore money. IPods are expensive enough, Should I use blobs? Or would that make my device worse. Plus I do not want to pay $20.00 for a chat and have to wait all day to someone who I can't understand on the telephone. someone help me please.

    For the slowness:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Hi,  from the last two days my iphone( iphone 4 with ios 5) have very slow to open the apps and very slow when i check the notification window , it taking too much time to open when i tap to down . help me to resolve the issue.

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
    Restart... Reset... Restore...
    iPhone Reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Try this First... You will Not Lose Any Data...
    Turn the Phone Off...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...
If that does not help... See Here:
    Backing up, Updating and Restoring

I Have the iPhone 4S and downloaded the new software (6.0) and everything seems great so far except when I try to open a link in safari from a different app (ie..messages, Facebook, ect..) it glitches and won't load. The blue loading bar will just jump back and forth and the page will not load properly if at all....

It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/baddns.php
    http://www.adwaremedic.com/kb/hackedrouter.php
If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

how on earth do you contact adobe - i lost my serial number before registering my standalone software...the phone service is offshore and not very helpful - the chat (i thought it was realtime) has been slow - if i understand, you need your proof of purchase and they will issue a serial number

To help address performance issues the Identi-e web site is currently down for maintenance.  If you are trying to redeem a product code to obtain your serial number for the Student & Teacher edition of our software you will currently be unable to do so. We would recommend installing the software in trial mode for the moment until the maintenance period is complete.

  • Hello  I upgraed my iphone to ios 7 but its dosent work like app stor dosent install any brogram or update programs and its slow and stuck plz help me

    Hello
I upgraed my iphone to ios 7 but its dosent work like app stor dosent install any brogram or update programs and its slow and stuck plz help me

My iPhone 5 wouldn't start after I turned it off a few minutes after writing this. It went into recovery mode and I had no choice but to connect to iTunes on PC and restore.
I restored to factory setting first, just to validate my phone was okay. For a second consecutive iOS update, the  iPhone 5 did not update smoothly while connected to PC and iTunes - I had to retry two times before the progress bar for the update showed. (The exact same problem with the restart occured when I updated to 7.0.4.)
The good news is that I was ultimately able to restore the iPhone 5 to factory settings while running iOS 7.0.6. I did have a backup from about a month ago lying around and was able to successfully restore with that as well, so the damage done is almost negligible since I had my contacts, notes, mail, etc. backed up to iCloud.
Once I completed both restores, the sync with iTunes worked fine.
