Alarm in Clock Utility

I recently swapped out my iphone at an Apple Store due to a problem with the silence switch. On my previous iphone I was able to silence the phone and hear an alarm only through the earbuds. On the new phone the alarm sounds through the external speaker regardless of the position of the silence switch or if the earbuds are plugged in. Is this normal. I preferred its operation on the older iphone.
Does anyone have experience with this?

i was disappointed by this as well. if i set it on silent, that's exactly what i expect. i just submitted the following on the feedback page, if anyone is curious:
quoting page 22 of the user manual, "When set to ring mode, iPhone plays all sounds. When set to silent mode, iPhone doesn’t ring or sound any alerts or sound effects. Alarms set using Clock do sound, however."
please add the option to silence all sounds, including the alarms. if i'm in a meeting or at a movie theatre and i've set my iPhone to silent, that's what i expect: silence.
i bought my iPhone to replace my aging t-mobile sidekick 2, and it had "sound profiles" that were user customizable and quickly selectable with just a few keystrokes. one neat way to implement this on the iPhone would be to set the volume button to enter a "silent" mode by pressing the volume down button when its already at the lowest setting. go one further that allows a user to turn off all vibration as well.

Fan noisy - X61 / TPFC.62 / Rightmark CPU clock utility...

Dear all:
Few questions...thanks in advance for your kind answers.
I have a Thinkpad X61s - machine model - 7668CTO. After upgrading to Windows 7 I can hear the fan loudly whirring. The machine is 3 years old and out of warranty.
Is the fan reaching the end of its life? Anyways to determine? How easy is it to replace the fan?
I tried to find the part number from Lenovo website but 'the fan' cannot be found. Found few sellers on Ebay...did anyone go that route? Do they sell the right part?
I downloaded TPFC.62. Set to Manual mode. The fan runs @ 3476 RPM...sound is less now. Is it safe to do this? Is there a recommended setting for X61 fan speed?
I also downloaded the Right Mark CPU clock utility...any recommended settings to reduce the CPU load (throttling) so that the fan has to run less/slower?
Any other suggestions?

it is probably not a good idea to run the fan at the mode 7 speed all the time.
You can get the fan from ebay, since there are not many sellers in India that stock these parts.
The fan removal on the X61s can be done, but it is slightly tricky if you never done it before.

ZDNet's Clock Utility

Hello again!
Prior to the my CPU upgrade, I was able to use the ZDNet Clock Utility, to "up-clock" my MacPro. After the CPU upgrade, the ZDNet Utility no longer recognizes my processors.
Here are the current stats/configuration:

I hope you've solved this problem already, but if not try this: With the new processors in, boot and run the ZDNet Clock in Leopard. Over clock to where you'd like. While overclocked, upgrade the OS to current with restarts in between.
While this should work with a 3,1, it may not (probably won't) with a 1,1.

Problem with alarms in clock app

I set an alarm for 7:30 am for Saturdays and Sundays, but the alarm sounds at 6:30. it shows up as "weekends" properly, and my phone is set to the correct time and time zone and daylight savings is correct. I checked to make sure that it was from the apple clock app by changing the sound, and I tried deleting and adding a new alarm, but it keeps going off an hour early.
is there a better solution than switching to a 3rd-party app?

Although all the edges and CM have the same ntp configuration , I still have this major alarm on three Edge-WAAS even after synchronization .
Is it possible to learn more about this - what caused it, ect.
Any ideas on how to proceed? (software version 4.1.3.b)

Feature Request: Set latest Podcast Episode as Alarm in Clock

Would love it if the Podcasts App integrated with Alarm Clock. Would like to wake up to a podcast instead of static music/tone. I imagine this would only entail selecting the podcast within the podcast app which would copy the latest "episode" of the selected podcast to a specific file name such as "Podcast Alarm.*". Then that file could be selected as the Alarm tune.

Seriously! This would be so great. I tried to manually add podcasts from my computer to the music folder as songs, but that didn't work.

Its one of the four options you have to display the clock.
Menu > Clock > Menu > Options > Clock Display.

Daylight saving and alarm

Daylight savings time stared today and the alarm on my Z3v was correctly set to 0730. The alarm didn't go off though until 0830. I did set the alarm with google now, but around 8 o'clock i also checked the Alarm and Clock app and verified the correct alarm time was set and turned on. Then the alarm went off at 0830. It was a one time alarm and no other alarms were set.
Any one else have any issues?

If it was set to Google time and they didn't adjust the time on their end then this may account for the issue you had - I can however confirm that setting an alarm via the system Alarm app works

Not able to use my own alarm tone

Initially there was an option to use either songs that i have as my alarm tone or to choose inbuilt alarm tones
But by mistake i clicked on the always option instead of the just once option

Try Clearing the "phone app" and the "alarm and clock " default settings.
From your Home screen
1. Tap the Application screen icon.
2. Find and tap Settings > Apps.
3. Swipe to the All tab.
4. Find and tap on the phone app.
5. Tap Force stop > scroll down, clear default settings.
6. Restart the phone

How to change the alarm sound for CALENDAR events?

I missed an important meeting today, thanks to the almost-inaudible and incredibly short alarm sound in the Calendar app.
Is there a way to change the alarm sound for events in Calendar?
Setting another alarm in Clock is viable but obviously inconvenient.

Settings > Sounds > Calendar. Maybe it was inaudible because yoursound was not turned up.

Sony Xperia Z1 No Alarm Display and Unable to switch off alarm

Eversince I had the first Android Kit Kat update, my Xperia Z1 C6903 was not able to hear any notification sounds, my alarm sound worked but unable to switch it off or delete it and when my contacts call me, it send it straight to voicemail and I don't even hear the notifcation call sounds either. Did a reboot and went on safe mode, I still had the same problem. Found out online that there is a sound bug with my current firmware version: 14.3.A.0.681.
When the new update 14.3.A.0.757 was available, I downloaded it. After this, my sound notifications worked fine, however, my alarm is still not working. Both on normal and safety mode, my alarm does the following:
1) The alarm sound works
2) Side key behaviour does not show up on my screen, so I am not able to dismiss my alarm
3) I manually go to my "Alarm and Clock" app and press the "OFF" indicator. Alarm sound does not stop.
4) I have to go to > alarm settings >Delete alarms >Choose the current alarm to delete > Alarm Sound then stops.
This has been happening eversince the Android Kit Kat version was available for download (the previous and current one). I have reboot my phone, gone on safety mode, I have gone to >Settings >APPS> All> Clock > Clear Data, and went to the Sony PC Companion > Support Zone > Repair phone/tablet, as well as deleted all my apps.
I do not know what else to do. I can only conclude that this is an existing problem with the new software update. I need my alarm working or else I am unable to get up for my morning meetings. PLEASE HELP!

so i have been having the exact problem on my Z1. the alrm goes off at the right time....the notification works perfectly but you just cannot switch it off or snooze it. if i go to the drop down menu the active alarm is not listed there...the side buttons dont work or have no effect even when configured.
you literally have to power the phone off for it to stop sounding. this is really annoying and i notice that teh last comment here was a month ago and Sony have still not addressed this problem. if you google this issue there a stacks of people with the same problem and more frustarted as we keep getting suggested fixes like clear clock cache which EVERYONE knows will not work as the problem is not with the data of the alarm....its a bug in the software that prevents the app from excuting teh way it was intended to.
my alarms worked perfectly fine before teh update was applied. ever since teh update i ahev had this problem. i dont believe that a solution is to install another alarm app from google play store. i bought the phone which advertises the alarm as a feature and if sony cannot fix or address this probelm then you have falsely advertised...
i am a sold out sony fan...i will never purchase any other brand of phone based on my past experience with sony products but this problem is making me think otherwise. give us a proper fix for this alarm issue and dont treat us like ignorant fools with your suggessted fixes like start in safe mode or reboot your phone....that will never ever fix the problem....its just a way of avoiding the fact that you dont know what to do to fix this problem...

IPhone Clock Application.++

Hi guys,
Listen to this, I've got an iPhone 3G white, version 2.1 .
From the very first time that I tried to run the default Clock Application.. I get the same negative result :
+It tries to start but in a couple of not even seconds but milliseconds... it stops and returns to Home Screen..+
I restarted it, I performed a restore... but I've got zero results. Same thing...
So, as you can understand I'm not able to use any kind of the Clock's services (stopwatch, alarm, world clocks...etc) and I really need them.
I don't wanna send it back to my provider cause I know the procedure.. I just wanna figure it out alone.. so.. you're my last hope
(What I also noticed the last two days is that when I go to "Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars and I try to navigate with the roll bar.. when I go to the last two options it does the same thing, returns to the Home Screen. I also noticed that in a couple of applications..like 'Texas Hold'em and iFutball'...but nothing can be compared with the Clock issue ...it cannot even start ...too bad ")

I had same and managed to fix it by doing:
1. Change language to something and change it back.
2. After that change region format to something else and change it back.
3. ???
4. Profit!
If you can go to "Time and Date" after that, it should work properly from now on.
Hopefully it works for you as well

Desk clock

What has happened to the desk clock in the clock app?

On my S3, in the standard Clock app, there are several modes - Alarm, World Clock, Stopwatch, Timer and Desk Clock.
On my new S5 there is no Desk Clock option.
Now this may seem trivial, but the desk clock was perfect for going to bed, plugging in the phone to the charger, setting it to desk clock (which also allowed you to set an alarm or alarms).
Just don't know why it would be taken out of the app.
Or perhaps there is a setting somewhere to make it reappear.
Lacking that, any recommendations for a good clock app...?
