Alarm volume of iPhone 5 reduced when selecting own song

It had been working fine until recently - where I realised I was sleeping in - and now I understand why.
One of the great features of the iPhone 5 was that you could choose a song from your iPod function to wake you up. Fantastic. And it's been great.
The last few days however, not so much. And i've just noticed that even with the ringer volume all the way up - the alarm tone is signficantly lower when you choose your own tune. This isn't tune specific - i've tried a whole range of tunes - and they're all signficantly muted. Choose one of the preset alarm tones though, and it's LOUD, the way it should be.
That said, I really want to be able to choose my own tune - AND wake up.
Please advise. Any help much appreciated.

Having the same problem. But it doesn't always happen. Sometimes they sound sometimes they don't. When they don't work it is always when the phone is hooked up to the charger. I have it on silent, but I do not have the do not disturb feature engaged. I've been late three times since getting the new phone. Including this morning.

  • Is there a way to pre-set the alarm volume on iPhone?

Is there a way to pre-set the alarm volume on iPhone? Every evening I have to remember to adjust the volume to 3 bars, versus full volume during the day.

I cannot believe this problem hasn't been rectified yet!
If I use the pre installed ringtone as an alarm and set it low so I don't jump out of my skin, then my call volume is too low the next day, so have to change it.
If I use a song as an alarm, I have the same problem, but its when I watch a video. I set it quiet, then jump out of my skin the next morning if I've left it tuned up after watching YouTube. Also works the other way if I've watched a video with the sound down, and forget to turn it back up, then I don't hear my alarm, which makes me late!
It could also do with an ascending volume option, so it starts nice and quiet to wake you gradually. My old phones from pre iPhone days had these features and they worked great.
Surely this isn't that much of an issue to sort out. Yet I've seen posts back as far as 2006 complaining about it.
Come on apple pull your finger out!

  • When selecting a song to play on iPhone the correct song does not play.  How do I fix.

When selecting a song to play on iPhone the correct song does not play.  How do I fix?

There are users reporting the process being stuck and it might have to do with apple turning on match to other countries today.
Have you tried turning match off and letting it remove all none downloaded songs and then turning match back on to see if it fixes it?
Sometimes turn match off and then back on fixes some things, but not always.
Especially if it is working on your other devices, it has to be with the one your trying to get the song downloaded onto.

  • TS1362 When selecting a song on my iphone, it skips ahead 2-3 songs and sometimes it does play. Can itunes be reset?

When selecting a song from itunes, its goes to a song i did not pick then it begins to scroll on its own.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • When selecting a song to play in iTunes, I get an error message indicating the song could not be used because the original file could not be found.  Would you like to locate it.  I have no idea where to look since the library hold all my files.

When selecting a song to play from iTunes library, I continually get an error message indicating the original file could not be found.  Then asks, would you like to locate it?  Does anyone know how to fix this?   I'm not even able to play the songs I purchased due to this error message.  Any ideas how to remedy this problem?
    Thanks

It would help to have more background about your iTunes collection such as if you keep it on an external drive, or if you have moved or renamed anything recently.  iTunes is very sensitive to you renaming or moving files or folders involved with your media.  iTunes only keeps a reference to where a media file is located  and then goes to look for it when you try to play it. If you have changed things since it was added to itunes then it's like me sending you to look for a friend in my addressbook but that friend has moved.
The other possibility is your computer is starting to lose files.  Again, the computer uses a reference database to tell it where on the drive to look for a file. If that database gets corrupt then it starts losing files.  Use Dsk Utility's first aid to verify your hard drive.

  • IPod defaults to Shuffle and Loop when selecting a song

Whenever I use the Search facility to find a song, when I click on the song's name the iPod application launches, as expected, and the song starts to play. However, the Shuffle and Loop indicators are selected (blue color), even though I had not selected them before in the iPod. This also happens when I select a song from the iPod's directory. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

The shuffle and loop controls can be turned off by following the instructions in the +iPad User Guide+ in section ipod under *Additional Song Controls*. Whenever these controls are enabled they remain in effect until turned off. If you did not turn them on perhaps someone else did?

i have an iphone 5 and noticed a couple of software updates ago that the alarm clock can be turned off just by touching the screen anywhere, but the snooze you have to wake up to fine and tap.  This seems backwards to me.  Is there a fix for this?  i have been late to work due to accidentally turning off the phone.
The alarm clock on my phone certainly doesn't work that way. The only way to turn it off is to slide across the screen. Simply touching it doesn't turn off the alarm. It isn't adjustable. However, there are hundreds of alarm clock apps available in the App Store if the built in one doesn't meet your needs.

  • Volume level isn't reflected when I save song in itunes

Ever since I got the '08 garageband version and leopard 10.5 for my mac, I haven't had any success with saving my garageband creations at the volume level I want it. In the old garageband, when I adjusted the volume next to the track length, or the master volume, and exported the song to itunes, this level would be reflected. Now, every song I export is at the same volume regardless of what I do. I've messed with settings, the format that I export it (mp3 etc) to no avail. This happens with songs I created in the old garageband and the new ones I've made. Does anybody know what I could do?

I set up my new iphone 5S and when selecting my 4 digit passcode, I must have entered something I did not intend. Now I can't unlock my phone unless I use my right thumb print.  Is there anyway I can correct this.  Is it possible to reset the phone to orginal content and reload my new phone from my itunes account?  I still have my old phone with all it's data on it.

  • Alarm clock on iPhone

Why doesnt the alarm on the iPhone go off when the phone is switched off?
Does anyone know if there is an app that turns the phone on wen the alarm goes off?
    Please help.

Whatever you say pal, but with all iPhone radios off - that is all radios, and with a first generation iPhone that includes cell, wi-fi, and bluetooth - the email client can't check for new messages, no SMS can be received, the cell phone is not checking for signal, and nothing is running in the background along with the screen being off - that is as low battery consumption as you are going to get with an iPhone and is probably very similar to the very low power or sleep mode that is available with a few other phones that allow for the alarm to work when you think such a phone is powered off, when it isn't. Such a phone is also using battery when in low power or sleep mode for the alarm to function.
Here is a wonderful concept - since you are using your iPhone as a wake-up alarm - which likely means it is on a night stand or similar near your bed, which also likely means near an electrical outlet, and since you say the iPhone's battery is really poor, how about using your iPhone's wall charger at night - plug it in. This way, you will have a fully charged iPhone in the morning.
There is no help for you buddy boy.
The answer to your first question is NO, and the answer to your second question is there is no such app available, and I'll bet you dollars to donuts no such 3rd party app will ever be available for the iPhone.
Either plug your iPhone in to an electrical outlet near your bed at night so it will be fully charged in the morning, keep doing what you are doing without turning on Airplane mode and have less battery available in the morning, or use the alarm you were using before you purchased an iPhone.

  • Phone disconnects from car Bluetooth when skipping a song on Spotify.

How's that for an oddly specific problem? Using a Samsung Galaxy Ace 3, Spotify and the car Bluetooth (Suzuki Swift, if that's relevant).  Phone connects to Bluetooth no problem.  To the problem: When selecting a song from a playlist or artist (I assume from anywhere else, but I haven't tried) the phone will disconnect from Bluetooth, Spotify will continue playing, silently, then the phone will reconnect, and start playing through the car speakers (already a few seconds progressed into the song).  The same issue occurs (disconnecting from Bluetooth, then reconnecting) a) when skipping songs (either through the car's Bluetooth controls, or manually on the Spotify app) and b) when the song reaches its end and naturally progresses to the next. Plot twist, though, if I pause the song, then skip to the next one, it will start playing the new song instantly, with no disconnect issue. I've tried this with other music playing apps (aka not Spotify) and the issue does not persist. EDIT: I've tried offline and online, problem persists for both. I'm sure you can imagine that this is an incredibly annoying issue, and I'd love any support you can offer. Especially given that mobile playing is 95% of the reason I'm paying for premium.

I just updated my iPhone 4 to iOS6.  In the process, I ran into a problem and had to restore factory settings.  After syncing the phone, I see that 218 apps need to be updated. When selecting "update all," it says "Cannot Download.  There is not enough available local storage to download these items.  You can manage your local device storage usage in Settings."
How can this be the case when I haven't changed any apps from before updrading to iOS6, and I don't have any music yet on the phone?  Why is it telling me there is not enough local space?

    Hi RileyAvaCadenRiver,
If you recently updated your iPhone to iOS7, you will need to update iTunes on your computer to iTunes 11.1 or newer for it to correctly recognize the iPhone. You may find the following link helpful:

  • When selecting the camera on 3gs the screen just goes black i can still take a photo using the top volume button but not with the screen please help

    hello there
when selecting the camera on my 3gs the screen goes black and has no responce i can take a picture with the top volume button but cannot see it until i open photos
    please can anyone help
    thankyou andy

Try closing the Camera app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Camera app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Camera app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset (unless this is what you mean by powering off and restarting) : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
