Alarm when iPhone 4 is switched off
Hi,
I finally got my first iPhone last weekend and I'm very pleased (as you can imagine).
There is one thing I'm wondering about though. When I switch off the iPhone, the alarm doesn't fire up until I switch on my iPhone again. That's rather odd, as all my previous phones did switch themselves on for alarm, can be snoozed, etc. while "off".
Am I missing something here, is there any alarm app, that's capable of switching the iPhone on by themselves!?

Not sure what you mean by 'switch off the iPhone'. Do you mean actually power it off by holding the sleep/wake button (top right) down until the 'swipe to turn off' appears and you swipe? If so then you aren't putting it to sleep, you are really turning it totally off and the alarm cannot respond for there is no CPU activity that would allow the phone to respond in any way.
If you mean just briefly press the sleep/wake button and the display blacks out then the phone is not 'off', it is just 'sleeping' and the clock alarm should 'wake' the phone--it does on both of my iPhone 4s.

Hi, I have a frustrating problem that seems to have occurred post iOS 8 installation. When my iphone5 is switched off the ring tone fails to sound i only get the vibration. If i am using my phone and a have an incoming call then the ring tone works as normal. I think it has something to do with "do not disturb" ... i see from the menu in "do not disturb" that under the heading "silence" there are two options "always" and "only when the phone is locked" This does not seem to make sense as i have to choose one or the other!
If anybody can help advise me on this problem i would be very grateful.

So what that means is when you have Do Not Disturb turned on, you may have an alert depending on the setting and how you are using your iPhone. So if it is set to Always, then that means that no matter what, your iPhone will not be notified. If it set to Only while the iPhone is locked, then that means that you will not get notification when your iPhone is locked but you will get notifications if your iPhone is being used. Also keep in mind the settings All Calls From can be set to certain contacts like Favorites, Everyone or no one. If you are using Do Not Disturb and you do not need it, then turn it off.

Just read that someone had the same problem on 3gs and someone had replied to press the home button and power button at same time, so I tried this and within a few seconds my phone had switched itself back on.

1. On your iPhone 4 press and hold both the button and the Home button for about ten seconds. After ten seconds you should see the Apple logo showing up.
2. Now try to run you phone again and see if it works.
If a hard reset the still can't get the device back to a working order.
1. Plug in the device to the cumputer and start iTunes.
2. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake + Home for 10 seconds.
3. Once you see the Apple Logo appears, release the power and continue to hold down the home button for about 5-10 seconds. Look iniTunes and see if your device have shows up.
4. iTunes will notify you that you are now in Recovery mode. Click on OK to continue with the restore process.
5. Next press and hold on the SHIFT button and click on the Restore button. Select the latest IPSW file and the prompt appears.
6. iTunes should now attempt to get your device back to the manufacturer setting.
7. iTunes will later give you an opportunity to restore you content from the PC. Every time when you do a sync, iTunes makes a backup so you can choose the latest backup from the sync. -
My iphone is getting switched off frequently

My iphone 4 gets switched off randomly.Also I cant start the phone without attaching it to computer .
And when I remove the cable it again gets swtiched off .
Can anyone tell me what can be the problem ......That could be a symptom of the battery going bad.

Because of low battery my iphone 5 got switched off and than its not starting by pressing the power button or by keeping it on charge. While charging a white screen comes for 2 second and goes away. This process continues till the phone is on charge. Please suggest how can I start my phone.

I would be concerned too if my iPhone was not powering on. I found an article with steps you can take when you encounter an issue like this. I recommend following the steps below:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

IPhone 4S - phone switches off before battery percentage has got to 0
iPhone 4S - phone switches off before battery percentage has gone to 0 - usually switches off when it's between 20-30%.
When I try the force restart it has the battery sign. (Home Button+Power button)
When I plug the charger in it starts charging from the point it shut off, 20-30%.
Have tried reset all settings.
Have done a restore and setup as a new phone.
Any way I can get it start charging from 0 instead of where it shut off (20-30%) ?Bit of a trek to the Apple store + i can't really send it off as I'm using it all the time.
Anything I can do to recalibrate or reset it so battery drains and starts to charge from 0, before I have to go to the Apple store? -

Why my Iphone 4 always switch off automatically?
You can select the time before the screen gets locked in Settings/General/Autolock from 1 to 5 minutes or choose "never" to lock the screen.

my iphone 4 has switched off by itself and won't switch back on. The battery wasn't dead, I have tried restarting it and have tried to put it into recovery mode but it still won't switch back on?
Try a reset, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
