Alarm??

i was just wonderin if the 5g has an alarm because i remeber wen i first got it, it had one.
but now i cant find the alarm option on my ipod..
or am i just goin crazy??
thx

What happens is if you choose the Alarm sound to be "Beep", the iPod will beep from its internal beeper/speaker. Very unfortunately, in only beeps for about 2 seconds and then goes off. That is entirely not acceptable because a 2 second beep is not going to get most people up from bed. In the next firmware update, I hope Apple enables a longer beep. Not all of us have speakers connected to the iPod when we sleep. I sometimes have my earphones on and then fall asleep. And of course, in the morning, the earphones are nowhere near my ears.

  • Ical multiple family members need alarms sent to each phone

    I have ical with seven different calendars (family members. all color coded) is there a way to attach different emails to each calendar? so I can set up the alarm function to text via email
    ie. ([email protected]) them. I have it set up in my address book under my "own card" It would be so much easier if I could attach their "text email" address to their separate calendars.
    Is there a way to do this?

    I don't think so.

    Is there a way that iTunes can act as a Radio Alarm Clock?
    I have found the radio station I enjoy listening to in the iTunes Radio List. Is there anyway iTunes (and my Mac) can be set to come-on from Sleep mode and start playing that Radio Station at specific times of the day?
    Any App or plug-in that does that?
    Many thanks

    Turning your Mac into a clock radio.
    1.  In iTunes create a playlist that contains just the radio station you want to wake up to.
    2.  Export the playlist (as .m3u works well).  Get Info on your playlist file and look at the Open With entry to make sure it points to iTunes, VLC or some other app that will stream your station.
    3.  In iCal create an event entry at the time you want to wake up.
    4.  Right (or Control) click on your wakeup event and select Get Info.
    5.  For "alarm" select Open File.
    6.  Now under Open File there will be a place to add the file to open.  It will probably be some default entry (like iCal).  Click on it will allow you to select "other."  Then use the file dialog to select your playlist file.
    Your Mac will wake you up at the appointed time.  You don't need to keep iCal running.  If you want to put you Mac to sleep for the night then there is one more thing you need to do.  Open System Preferences to Energy Saver and click on the Schedule button.  Check Start up or wake and set the wake up time to slightly before your iCal alarm time.

  • Is there a way of getting a list of upcoming alerts/alarms and their times?

    I'd like to get a list of alert times, so that I can see if I have any that will be going off in the middle of the night!
    Many months back, I purged those pesky midnight alerts by scrolling through week by week and looking for the all-day events and checking each one. It was a chore.
    Now, due an odd synching issue between iCal and an app, I'm a tad concerned that some late night alerts may have been set, or PMs may have changed to AMs, or other oddities introduced. I'd like to scan a list of alerts for the next several months to ensure that none are set to go off during the sleeping hours!
    Just browsing events (say week by week) doesn't help me because they could have alerts set for all sorts of different times (or no alerts at all). If there isn't a way of listing the alerts, then I'll have to go through each individual event/to do to check its alert and time-- and there are hundreds!
    Hope this makes sense.

    Try this in Script Editor - the list of alarms will be in the result pane.

  • Why would I get an important message that says, "I can see you" It was a loud alarm with a message box.

    My Iphone 4s had a loud alarm with a text box that said I can see you!  I was trying to copy and paste in my contacts at the time it occured.  It kinda freaked me out.

    This was an iCloud message.  I received an email that was from find myiphone. It stated your message was sent to the phone. The funny thing is that I don't remember messing around with the find my iPhone feature. I may try to explore the find my iPhone feature some more. Thanks for the responses everyone. The message had a loud continuous alarm even though my phone was set to vibrate.
    Thanks again

  • EPICS alarm status is incorrect

    I am using LV2010SP1 with the DSC module and EPICS Server/Client. I have used EPICS in DSC before, but only for passing values. Now I am interested in alarms and alarm status and I am getting strange results. I have attached a zip file with  a project that illustrates the problem. The server publishes a single integer, and in DSC I enabled alarms with the default thresholds: below 10 is LOLO, 10-25 is LOW, 25-75 is NO_ALARM, 75-90 is HIGH and above 90 is HIHI. When I run the server and look at the values of the shared variable and the EPICS Server variable using Distributed Server Manager then everything looks good. On the client side, though, the alarm status readings are messed up. The status changes at the correct levels, but the status reads wrong. LOLO shows up as STATE, LOW shows up as COS, HIGH shows up as LOW and HIHI shows up as LOLO! STATE and COS are not even legitimate options for status. Here is a screen shot of the Distributed System Manager display. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I have tried Int16 and Int32 with the same results. I will try DBL next, but eventually I need this to work for integers.

    Rich:
    So, it turns out that COS and STATE are valid values for the STAT field in EPICS, but they definitely don't make sense for the alarm states of the bound shared variables.
    (Brief mention of some of the STAT field values can be found on aps.anl.gov here)
    I've filed this under Corrective Action Request (CAR) #297362 with R&D. In the meantime, is it possible to use the server's STAT value (instead of the client's) as a workaround?

  • WCS Alarm Status shows green but LAP is unplugged ?! Oper Staus shows Down

    Hello,
    we are operating a Cisco WLAN environment with 1242 and 1131 LAP. Some of them have been converted from AP to LAP.
    Now we took some LAP off the wall.
    They are now packed in a box in our storage room.
    But the WCS is showing a green Alarm Status for these LAP and as Oper Status Down.
    How can that be ?
    Is there a way to fix this problem, because we want to see the Alarm Status in Red.
    Thx for all your input.
    Best Regards
    Christian

    This is very interesting. If I try to put myself in the WCS developer's shoes, I think:
    - if you get an alarm for missing AP, then acknowledge the alarm, WCS has no reason to re-display the same alarm. This is precisely what Acknowledge is for, to say "don't bother me with this issue anymore".
    - Even if you manually remove the AP from WCS, it clearly keeps some memory of it, at least for a while. This is something you can clearly see if you run a report of any kind, WCS has to keep track of objects even if you remove them.
    My suggestion would be:
    - Unacknowledge the alarm, then delete it... acknowledging an alarm is probably not the best way to deal with removing an AP. You would use Aknowledge for alarms such as "your neighbour AP keep being detected as rogue, you can't remove your neighbour AP but don't want to hear about this warning anymore." You acknowledge the alarm, WCS keeps it in its database and remembers NOT to bother you with it anymore (exactly what happens in your case).
    For an AP you remove, I would not acknowledge the alarm, but simply delete it after having removed the AP. This removes the alarm from the WCS database.
    If you ever re-plug this AP to the network, WCS may remember it, but any new alarm about it will display.
    Hope it helps

  • I set an alarm with Siri. Can she only set one at a time, and how can I see/cancel it?

    Title. I set an alarm, then shortly after asked her to set another alarm.
    1) are both alarms in effect?
    2) where can I see/cancel them? It says it can't modify or delete them.

    Go to the Clock app and see if they are listed.  I just set two via Siri on my iPad and both are listed. I can turn them off or deleted (via edit button) the alarms.

  • Alarm status drawing iow: recolour JInternalFrame components

    Greetings,
    Please have a look at this picture. It's a low res snapshot of
    a few quite complicated components. Most of the functionality isn't
    visible nor relevant in the example. What you're looking at is a real time
    process of some sort. Things can go wrong in that process. In a previous
    version of my views I'd turn the background colour of some components
    red/yellow/green according to the 'alarm status' of the process. One of
    my customers suggested the idea of turning everything red/yellow/green
    inside those JInternalFrames (that's what you're looking at in the example).
    Of course one fool can ask more than a dozen of wise men can answer
    and I am not that wise, so my question is: how would one change the
    colour of all components that are part of a JInternalFrame (or any
    other container) such that the colour wouldn't be 100% opague but
    still visible by itself and still showing the information originally present
    in each individual component. iow, as if a transparent monochrome
    filter were positioned in front of that entire JContainer.
    In a naive way I like the idea; if the idea turns out to be too complicated
    to realize I'd be happy with visual alternatives also. (such as big arrows
    pointing to the JContainer where the alarm happened).
    Note that these appliations run in a 'factory' environment where people
    either hardly watch the screens or they watch them at quite a great
    distance. The changing colours should just attract their attention so they
    will walk/run/drive/ride to the screens for a second inspection.
    Any ideas are appreciated.
    kind regards,
    Jos

    Not sure I understand the question, but I keyed in on:
    as if a transparent monochrome filter were positioned in front of that entire JContainer.So maybe you could use a GlassPane:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class GlassPaneTest extends JFrame
        public GlassPaneTest()
            final JComponent glassPane = new JComponent()
                public void paintComponent(Graphics g)
                    g.setColor( getBackground() );
                    g.fillRect(0, 0, getSize().width, getSize().height);
            glassPane.setOpaque( false );
            glassPane.setBackground( new Color(240, 20, 20, 100) );
            setGlassPane( glassPane );
            glassPane.addKeyListener( new KeyAdapter()
                public void keyPressed(KeyEvent e)
                    e.consume();
            glassPane.addMouseListener( new MouseAdapter()
                public void mousePressed(MouseEvent e)
                    e.consume();
            final JButton button = new JButton( "Click Me" );
            button.setMnemonic('c');
            button.addActionListener( new ActionListener()
                public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
                       glassPane.setCursor(Cursor.getPredefinedCursor(Cursor.WAIT_CURSOR));
                       glassPane.setVisible( true );
                       glassPane.requestFocus();
                       Thread thread = new Thread()
                            public void run()
                                try { this.sleep(5000); }
                                catch (InterruptedException ie) {}
                                 glassPane.setVisible( false );
                                 glassPane.setCursor(null);
                    thread.start();
            getContentPane().add(new JLabel("NORTH"), BorderLayout.NORTH );
            getContentPane().add( button );
            getContentPane().add(new JTextField(), BorderLayout.SOUTH);
        public static void main(String[] args)
            GlassPaneTest frame = new GlassPaneTest();
            frame.setDefaultCloseOperation( EXIT_ON_CLOSE );
            frame.setSize(300, 300);

            frame.setVisible(true);

  • Lack of good functionality for iPod Nano alarm timer?

    Hi, I'm the proud new owner of a Gen 2 - 2GB Nano, and I had figured that between the Sleep function, the Alarm function, and the Stopwatch function, it would be something I could use to listen to music while working out, and at the same time use it as a timer for the couple of exercises I do that I'd like to time (as opposed to counting).
    I would think this would be a key use of Nanos by many people, but what I find is that all of the options are less than desirable.
    Alarm: I could set the alarm to go off at the allotted time, but what I would want is the "beep" and for the "beep" to come through the headphones. I'm listening to music using the headphones, so I don't to hear the "beep" emitting from the Nano's "internal speaker". Selecting a Playlist to be the alarm sound does work to alert me to it being time to switch exercises, but "switch" is the key problem here because it switches to that new (or the beginning of the same) Playlist. In other words, the main function of the Nano for me is to listen to music, and perhaps that will be an entire album while I work out, but using the Playlist feature for the sound of the alarm means I will be interrupted in the midst of, say, track 4 of the Playlist I'm wanting to listen to for my workout.
    Sleep Timer function: Only allows me to select in 15 minute intervals (I need 11 or 12 minutes for one particular exercise, though I could live with 10 minutes, but that’s not even there). Plus the abrupt shutoff of the music that's playing is horrible. The intent of the Sleep Timer function of course makes the 15 minute interval choices make sense, but a bit of a fade for the music shutoff would be an improvement (and less likely to wake someone up who was just drifting off). If the Sleep Timer could actually let me set the number of minutes, it would be my solution (since upon stopping the music that’s playing, that position in the Playlist is retained and one can start listening again where one left off).
    Stopwatch: Stopwatch isn't really useful for what I'm trying to do. It would be, of course, if it had a "timer" setting that let you program it for a number of minutes to count down, then upon reaching zero it would beep in the headphones along with the music being played, or just fade the music that’s playing, similar to what the Sleep Timer does, though it does it abruptly...
    So two questions:
    1. Do any more experienced iPod owners know of a way I can do what I’m trying to do? (Play music, be alerted when a specific number of minutes are up, and not have the position in the Playlist of the music I’m listening to be lost.)
    2. What is the way to make suggestions to Apple for changes to the iPod software?
    Any help/comments appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Rich Apple (and yes, Apple is my name, and no, Apple the company has never seen fit to give me a computer and take advantage of the wonderful “stealth advertising” I would naturally be… Oh, your name is Apple? Do you own the computer company? Well, no, but they actually did give me a computer; that’s how groovy they are.)
    Nano 2GB Generation 2

    Thank you, Jeff, for the couple of answers. I did put in a couple enhancement requests via the http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipod.html link, and I imagine such requests carry more weight if others also request them.
    I requested that Apple make it so one can be alerted to an alarm via the headphones without losing the position in the playlist that one is listening to, or that the Sleep Timer be changed to accept a number of minutes rather than just choosing between the 15 minute increments. (Either being a means to time something (excersize, hard-boiling an egg, sex, or anything) and be alerted when the time is up without having to lose one's place in the Playlist.)
    I also requested that the Sleep Timer function use a fade-out rather than the abrupt shut-off of the music.
    Again, thanks for the link, and thanks for confirming that you too can't find a way to do the timed periods in the way that I would think many others would want.

    HI, if I did this, then I believe that I cloud would then hold my info which I don't want. Is that the case? The reason is that I'm an old git, therefore used to not giving out info. Would I be right?
    Thank-You so much for taking the time to answer.

  • Anybody else wrong Time and Alarm since January 7th, any Solution ?

    Since Yesterday Night my Time changed on my Iphone 4 by itself to 1 our earlier.
    Problem is if Time is set to "Set Automatically". Only works if I set Time manual otherwise time will again change to 1 our earlier. My Time Zone is Berlin.
    Now after Daylight Saving Time malfunction and New Year problem this is the 3rd Time Problem on Iphone 4. Only good thing is this time my alarm woke me up 1h early and not late.
    Hate to by a old fashioned watch but can you trust the Iphone Time anymore ?

    I am still on 6.0.5 so I can't really deal with your question, but just an observation.
    You say the source for your party shuffle is a smart playlist. How many songs are there in the smart playlist? The fewer there are the more likely you are to get repeats in your party suffle list. Appologies if this is obvious.

  • On Screen Keyboard Stopped Working in Alarm Mode [...

    I have had a Nokia E51 for about 4 years - I used it till it literally stopped working. That phone started out great, but gave me A LOT of trouble and I started to hate it around month 6.
    Fast forward a few years and I need to buy a new phone. I search around and find a phone that has OFFLINE GPS! Whoa! Also, great reviews! I am sold. Turns out it's another Nokia (C6-01).
    I have had this thing for about 2.5 months now and I am getting really really paranoid considering my history with Nokia phones. They have always surprised me in a very negative way after initially seducing me. I want to love Nokia, but the phone's always prevent me.
    Anyway, Last night I tried to set an alarm on my c6-01 and when I tried to alter the time by tapping the text field, THE ON SCREEN KEYBOARD DID NOT SHOW UP. f*ck.  Basically, according to my phone, I could only wake up at 11:15 AM - despite having work at 8:00 AM.
    I did do a recent software update a few weeks ago, but from what I remember, the keyboard worked after this update.
    Anyone have any ideas? I am pretty sure I am still under warranty and if that's the case, I am just going to return it to Amazon and never touch another nokia.
    Thanks
