Alarms don't work on 3 out of 4 of my devices synced through Google.

Strangest problem--I've been using iCal manage my Google Calendars all synced on my four devices (iMac, Macbook Pro, iPad 1 & iPhone 4) via Google's cloud server for quite some time.  Now, when I add an event to any of the 4 devices, it shows up on the rest but if I add an alarm on any of the devices except my iPad and click 'done,' it just disappears--no alarm set when I open the event again on the same device or any of the others. 
I tried to work around this by just setting alarms on my ipad but I now realize that even though the alarms show up on all my devices when I add them via the iPad, they still only go off on the iPad.  This system just won't do if my alarms don't ring on my iPhone, as that's the device I always have with me.  Haven't installed any updates or done anything else that I can think of that might have messed it up.

This isnt the problem. My notebook uses the same driver. This is a common MS Windows driver which is part of the Windows system and it controls the USB ports.
By the way: what Windows system do you use? Did you try to recover the notebook using recovery disk? If not try this to check if its hardware related problem.
By the way: go to BIOS and set it to default. Not quite sure if USB ports can be disable in BIOS of A660 series but its worth a check!

    I have just discovered that my alarms do not work, and I am not able to subscribe to shared calendars.
    Re alarms - I have tried trashing iCal, downloading and re-installing it, trashing preferences, to no avail.
    Re shared calendars - once I download the calendar, a drop down appears in iCal where my options are to cancel or subscribe. When I click susbscribe, the window freezes and nothing happens.
    Any input would be most appreciated.

    Have you tried installing Microsoft® Windows Script version 5.6? Since you are unable to uninstall the Desktop Manager, try manually deleting the folders from your computer (Task 3 in the following KB article) and removing the associated registry keys. http://bbry.lv/cmoQ5P  Then reinstall version 6.0.

  • HT4528 I pulled my iPhone out of the docking station/speakers and now the ring tones don't work.  Anyone know a fix for this?

    Does anyone know if there is a fix for iPhone 4S when you pull it out of the docking station and now the ring tones don't work -- it only vibrates.

    Basic troubleshooting of the device is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Has any of this been tried?
    Do other sounds work?
    Have you checked to see if the dock connector or headphone jack have debris in them?

Neither has worked and I'm in a vicious circle with each time after lengthy downloads it still all ends with the program, & my phone, asking for my passcode to proceed.  I'm not sure if I have ever synced to my mac book (i may have) but my address book seems to automatically update on both devices without the need to plug in.     If you have not sync'd your device to your Mac then you will have to force the phone into recovery mode and restore as a new device. Read the information in this link and follow the instructions to recover the phone:

I tried the method where you go into single user mode and type in commands, however that method uses some of the letters that are not working on my laptop.

    You didn't mention which version of OS X your running but there are password reset utilities provided OS X: Changing or resetting an account password (Snow Leopard and earlier) - Apple Support  or  OS X: Changing or resetting an account password - Apple Support
    Alternately you can use an external keyboard to log in and change the password. Make a backup if you don't have one, it's likely that your problems aren't over. If that water continues to migrate downward and fries the logic board your macbook will be toast.

I know both programs fairly well, believe me, both Cubase 6 and 7 can hold their own with any DAW out there, they just don't come with a bunch of ready made loops and preset instruments.
    LogicX will never be able to use 32-bit instruments without a third party solution, nor will it ever include the Bridge. At least according to the people I know.

  • ITunes 10.4 Command Controls Don't Work, File Menu Greyed Out

    The "improvements" in 10.4 version of iTunes are, uh, not. Among many other challenges iTunes now randomly decides that its file functions and the attendant command + (key) don't work. You get the "error" noise and the commands are actually greyed out under the "File" dropdown. FAIL. This, in addition to the "upgrade" that makes it necessary to hit "option" to see the nested playlist icon make this one of the worst iTunes updates in a long, long time. Don't think us out of what we're doing, please. I know it's free, but it's also not free (my Apple bills are staggering).
    Formerly reliable commands like Command + L (go to current song) or Command N (new playlist) and even Command I (track info) are now hit and miss. If anybody has a solution (other than "you don't really want those features") I'd love to hear it. Or an explanation for how/why an entire series of commands becomes unavailable for no apparent reason. In the meantime I'm investigating alternatives (and I'm a long-term iTunes stalwart).  Lame.
    In the above screenshot, prior to writing this email (and part of the inspiration for it was that) "go to current song" was also greyed out. Of course I was writing this email and not changing anything but a few seconds ago Control "L" didn't do anything & that item was greyed out. So what happened? What changed? What's wrong? Your guess will hopefully be better than mine...

    While I'm at it, the new/improved iTunes also periodically and for no apparent reason will not allow me to edit smart playlists (or create new ones). I hit Command "I" on a smart playlist and I get the "be-donk" that says "no love." Also greyed out in File menu along with almost everything else (see above). The feature returns after the passage of time but no noticeable conditions have changed - unless I'm missing something really obvious which is why I'm crying out for help...

  • Streamed events don't work: Timed Out message

    I know I've posted a message here on this subject, so please forgive me.
    The problem I've got is that my admin account can't successfully see any of the Apple webcasts. Quicktime launches and goes through a negotiation process but then just times out. Changing the streaming protocol to HTTP80 doesn't work, when this is selected I simply get "connection failed".
    The odd thing is that a standard user account that I'd previously set up on the computer works like a charm, no problems at all. So, what's up do you think?
    The even odder thing is, if I now add another user account to the machine then the behaviours of the new account match that of my main admin account. ie, Quicktime webcasts don't work.
    I've tried the deleting the webplugin but that has had little or no positive effect.
    Any advice is very welcome, short of re-installing my system (which I'm almost tempted to do!!)

    *A few suggestions:*
    Repair permissions & restart your computer.
    Check your QT MIME Settings.
    System Preferences>Quicktime>Advanced
    Click on the MIME Settings button.
    In the next window that opens up make sure that Streaming-Streaming movies is enabled (checked).
    While you’re at it make sure all the boxes are enabled by clicking on the corresponding triangles so that they are pointed down.
    This will show the “hidden” boxes especially the Video box. This box will enable you to play .avi files.
    Click the OK button.
    Now click Streaming
    Your settings you should be (as starters):
    Streaming Speed: Automatic
    Make sure Enable Instant-On is enabled (checked).
    Now click on Browser
    Make sure:
    Play movies automatically
    Save movies in disk cache
    Are both enabled.
    Movie download Cache Size: Slider set all the way to the left.
    Restart your computer.
    Consider updating your OS to the last & latest Tiger version - 10.4.11 along with all other updates that goes with it from the Software Update control panel.

    How long have you left the iPod to charge? It can take up to 30 minutes before it shows any signs of life. Did you use the instructions in this article to properly reset the Shuffle?

  • Alarms simply don't work.

    I've set an alarm for a meeting next Monday at 7:00 PM. I set an alarm for 5 days in ahead for it to give me a message and a beep.
    I got nothing! I've tried various times to make alarms and it almost never works for me. In the above listed example, do I Have to be on the computer exactly at 7:000 PM 5 days before the event for the alarm to work or something?
    I'm not sure what other info I can give, so I know this is pretty vague, but if anyone knows of a general common reason alarms might not work, I'd love to hear it.

    Hi,
    What the "turn off alarms when iCal is not open' preference does is add/remove an application called iCalAlarmScheduler to your login items (System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items). This application stays running in the background and opens a window when you have an alam scheduled.

    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account, or is system-wide. Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select “Help” from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Any application you run will behave as if you were running it for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    As Guest, launch the application(s) and test. Same problem(s)?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
