ALBLUM cover view in itunes.

Hi. I just down loaded the new i-tunes... I see I can songs view and sort by date... but I can't find how to show the cover art on the side... most of my
music I reconize the by art work.. and want to have it sorted by date added... Can you please help.  THANKS

Ah you can get the nice Album view for podcasts. Create a smart playlist which adds all podcasts ("is kind podcast"). Select Music > Playlist. Select the smart playlist on the left. Gives you nice album view for podcasts. Also in the new mini viewer you can choose between podcasts in the pop up list.
No podcast syncing yet though.
Also it would be nice if you could force permanent cover art for podcasts. So many are missing even though they have a cover in iTunes.

  • Podcast syncing & Podcast cover view in iTunes 11

    Hello,
One of the features for iTunes 11 was podcast syncing. It was supposed to sync what podcasts you had between your computers and mobile devices, and also sync position. Was quite looking forward to this feature. Where is it and how do you make it work ? There is no cloud symbol beside Podcasts, was the feature dropped ?
Also I quite like the new Album cover view for Music, is it possible to get that for Podcasts ?
    Thanks.

  • Can't select cover view from itunes directly from ipod, only from library??

    Hi,
I'm unable to select cover flow view on itunes from my ipod touch. Artwork and coverflow show up great on ipod when not connected to mac/itunes acct. and when using library on my mac.
    Please Help... THANK U

OK, I got it to work. I updated iTunes to 12.1. Rebooted the iMac, reconnected the iTouch and tried dragging the song from my iTunes library to the iTouch again. This time it copied OK. I'm not sure why.

  • Goofy Cover Browser view in iTunes 7

I guess Apple’s relationship with Disney finally got to close for comfort. I’m afraid Goofy just took over the iTunes UI design.
As the name implies, the Cover Browser (rightmost view button) looks and almost functions like a browser.
Unfortunately, it is merely a display of the album now playing with previous and next albums.
Undoubtedly this view is great looking, but has no usefulness as a browser. This should have been a visualizer plugin.
As a matter of fact, I actually would use it as a full screen visualizer plugin. Ironically, such useful Use Case for this feature is not enabled.
So far, I was only slightly disappointed with the missed opportunity to make a cool looking real album browser and the missing visualizer.
Apple did provide a “Group by Artwork” view that is not as great looking, but it’s certainly useful.
However, my disappointment quickly turned into puzzlement when I was surprised by a completely unexpected Cover Browser behavior.
I hear that after puzzlement comes acceptance. I’m not there yet, but I have a feeling I’m working up to it by writing about it.
    Consider this.
If you filter your view with Quick Browse by an Artist or a Genre, only the filtered tracks are displayed.
If you start playback, only those selected tracks will be in the queue.
I don’t know about you, but that’s how I listen to my iTunes library. I play a selected Playlist, Genre, Album, or Artist to listen to a specific selection. I never play tracks without filtering because I have podcasts, audiobooks, hip-hop, classic, altrock, and only God and my iTunes library know how many more different types of music.
But I digress. Having started playback on a filtered list of a selected Artist or Album and then clicking on the Cover Browser does something only Goofy could have conceived.
It loses your selected filtering and changes to an all tracks view. The currently playing album cover is displayed, but what is before and after that track is now determined by the all tracks view column sorting.
In other words, because I clicked on the Cover Browser view, my playback queue changed to something I had no intention of hearing.
This strange behavior is unique to the Cover Browser view. Had I click on the Group by Artwork instead, the filtering would still be in effect.
There must have been some kind of crazy rational to lose the filtering since it was clearly intentional.
They got the Playlist behavior right. If playback is started from a Playlist, changing view to Cover Browser does the expected and only displays the albums contained in the Playlist.
Goofy didn’t stop there. No, he was inspired.
In the Cover Browsing view while playback is active, if you navigate down the list of tracks, say 6000 tracks down, after a brief timeout, the highlighted album reverts back to the one playing, which could the first one of this 6000 tracks list.
Quick, you got 15 seconds to navigate down a list and look at it…Sorry, you’re not fast enough…back to the top of the list where you belong!
I’m afraid this is not the first time iTunes has been updated with functionality that makes it less useful. Podcast categories have been removed with no good way to get to those specific podcasts anymore (e.g. International).
The status window defaulting to downloading podcast information while playback is active is another terrible example.
As a lifetime fan, it is sad to witness the slow deterioration of Apple’s once high standards.
Acceptance is coming while I image what must be like to have Goofy lose and running amuck in the Tunes design lab.

Below the cover view is the track listing which has all the columns as usual - simply click the column title to sort by that field.
If the album has different artists then make sure the 'group compilations' option is ticked in preferences and then go into the info for the tracks and select 'part of a compilation'. iTunes will then group the tracks into a single album and display 'various artists' as the artist.
There is also now a field called 'album artist' which sets an artist for an entire album.

  • Scratchy Sound When Sliding Through Covers in Cover Flow View in iTunes 8

Anyone having problems with a scratchy sound as you slide through covers in the cover flow view in iTunes 8?
Also sliding too fast has caused app to crash.

The scratchy sound seems to have come up a few times with iTunes 8 (including in a couple of other threads that I can't find right now). It seems to have picked up around the last QT update, which was coincident with the iTunes upgrade.
    (post updated)
I must admit, I didn't read closely at 7:30 in the morning, and didn't see this was just happening to OP with cover flow.
But there have been a number of people (including me) complaining of general scratchiness in iTunes 8 and AirTunes that seems traceable to the last QT update. Be glad you aren't in my situation, where it's ALWAYS scratchy.

  • Cover Flow view in iTunes 7

I really like the cover flow view but it seems the albums are keyed on Artist so if different tracks have different artists, they show up as multiple albums in the cover flow view. Is there any way to make it key on Album name instead?

  • Albums on iTunes (in cover view) not the same as on iPod

I have 700+ albums in my iTunes library. In iTunes everything if fine. BUT on the iPod, There are 38 albums that show up at the end of the (alpha/numeric)artist listing and are listed in (alpha/numeric) album title order. I have tried (1) changing the album name, (2)unchecking the selected album and re syncing, (3)deleting selected albums re-importing and (4) deleting all 700+ and re-importing ALL. Same results. It does not may any sense. Example Amy Whitehouse will import and be listed at the end of cover view on my iPod sorted by album name (back to black) but is listed at the begining in iTunes cover view by artist name amy. This means that I have scroll through 700+ album sometimes to find the album I need because it is not listed where it should be.Any help out there.

These albums will be marked as Compilations. They would show up in the same place (at the end of cover flow) in iTunes if you were using the the Advanced Preference *Group compilations when browsing*. For those albums that are not compilations, select all the tracks from the album, Get Info, then on the Options tab set, *Part of a compilation* to No.
If any of your albums feature guest artists however you will be exchanging one problem for another. See my post on Grouping Tracks Into Albums for more information.

  • ITunes 7 has split my albums up into individual tracks in cover view!

In the two new views in itunes 7 many of my albums have been split up into individual tracks. Is there anything I can do to 'consolidate' them back?
Power Book   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Hi there, I have the same problem, Albums I've imported from CD and albums I've bought through itunes now display as separate tracks in both views with album art. Also in list view if I click on an album all its tracks are now not in the correct album order but mixed up, so if I use the album view im left with 10 album covers for the same album with 1 track per cover and in list view everything is all mixed up. I wish I'd never upgraded from itunes 6 as this is now a complete mess and almost unusable with 300 albums of music "WELL DONE APPLE" as a 12 year mac user Im starting to feel like im back using windows 3.1 again

  • Cover View text scrambled/unreadable after copying the backup backto itunes

I created a backup CD through itunes which I played the CD back to itunes after I reinstalled Windows. Ever since the some of the artwork and all text is scambled in the cover view (not displayed correctly). I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes with no luck of fixing the problem. I have the latest version of itunes (7.4.1.2) installed. I hope someone can help me.

    1) I COULD NOT FIND ANY WAY to burn songs or play list to ANYTHING other than CDs and I had way more data to transfer than would fit on a CD. Isn't there ANY WAY to copy songs to a flash drive?
Just find the tracks in iTunes, mount the flash drive, and drag the tracks from the iTunes window to the flash drive. Or find them in the iTunes Music folder and drag them to the flash drive.
    2) I couldn't find a way to select Full Album from the album list. I just wanted to view "Album View" as to choose from artists and pick an ENTIRE album skip a few pick a few more ENTIRE ALBUMS, skip a few, etc. I could not find a way to select an ENTIRE album from the Album List without selecting EACH song INDIVIDUALLY. It IS the ALBUM LIST chy can't you select an entire ALBUM? Am I missing something?
Turn on the Browser view; View menu -> Show Browser. The you can just click on an artist and then click on the album.
Why does iTunes break up some albums into a few songs at a time and not others? I can't get them back together unless I select COMPILATION, which it might not necessarily qualify as?
Make sure that the album titles are exactly the same. Even an extra space will make it a separate album to iTunes.
The icing on the cake is that I couldn't finay ANY MANUALS for iTunes on the APPLE.COM site and only incredibly rudimentary video tutorials that cover little. I also have the official Apple book on iTunes whih doesn't cover ANY of these topics.
Tried the iTunes Help? You might also find these helpful:
    Installing iTunes and Getting Started
The New User's Guide for iTunes
    iTunes 101
There are also a number of third-party books on iTunes if you want it all on one place precompiled.
    Regards.

  • Can I bring back larger cover art in album view in iTunes 11

In iTunes 10 there was a slider on the top right that allowed you to make the album art very big. Four or Five albums per row was the way I liked it and it worked very well for my living room media center setup.
I absolutely hate the new maximum size of the album art in the "Albums" view of iTunes 11. It makes me want to reverse engineer it and add the setting back in.
Any ideas on how to get this back, or Apple can we please have this option back?

  • Album view in iTunes 11.1.5.5

Sorry if this is a 'noob' type question ...
I used to have views of albums in the Music folder.  Something has happened to iTunes and now all that I get is a list (organised by album name),
Have tried various things and nothing gets me back to the view that I used to have.
Taking it step-by-step, how do I get the album cover view back in the music folder?
    Cheers

    iTunes 11.1.5.5

    Hi again tt2
I have the sidebar - pressing Ctrl+S toggles it off and then on again.
This is what I am getting ...
(****! - can't seem to insert an image)
    Top right:
    LIBRARY
         Music     (displays only 4 albums)
         Films
         TV Programmes
         Podcasts
         Books
         Apps
    STORE
         iTunes Store
         Purchased
    DEVICES
         RB's iPhone 4s
         Music
         Films
         TV Programmes
         Books
Then several with a 'gear' type icon next to them
Then playlists that are on my phone
At the bottom of the playlists are a '+' sign and another 'gear' icon.
The arrow bottom right of the '+' sign does NOTHING - I used to be able to click it and create a new playlist (any idea why that's not working??)
The arrow bottom right of the 'gear' icon only gives me the option to 'Export'
I thought the new iTunes was supposed to be EASIER?!?
    Any help, gratefully received
    Thanks

  • Cover Flow in iTunes 8

Last weekend, I was asked to DJ my company's Christmas party at a bowling alley. I took my computer and hooked it up to their PA System, and everything went well. But since returning home, my iTunes 8, in the Cover Flow view, says "iTunes is unable to browse covers on this computer." I have run dxdiag, testing both DirectDraw and Direct3D, and both are working fine. I have gone to the website for the manufacturer of my video card, but was unable to open any page with drivers on it. Does anyone have any more ideas?

you should just reinstall it again, usually it fixes bugs on its own.

  • Problem sorting by Artist in grid view using Itunes 8

I have a lot of albums that contain various artist and i set up the info in each with the correct artist name and "various artist" as the album artist. In itunes 8 when i use grid view and use show by artist it displays by album artist putting all the albums by "various artist" in one grid. It's correct in list and cover flow view. How can i set the grid view to display by the artist of the song and not the album. (ex. Soundtrack from the motion picture Tropic Thunder: Display "U Can't Touch This" under MC Hammer instead of Various Artist)

Actually, the grid view should be using the Album Artist tag. When the Album Artist tag was added in iTunes 7.0, the intent was to allow users to properly tag songs based on the artist and any guest artists. For instance, on Luther Vandross’ album +Give Me The Reason+ Track 6, “There’s Nothing Better Than Love” is a duet. Therefore, while the Artist tag for the rest of the tracks should be ‘Luther Vandross’, the correct tag content for Track 6 is ‘Luther Vandross duet with Greory Hines’. Without having ‘Luther Vandross’ in all the Album Artist tags for all 9 album tracks, iTunes would split the album as if there are two albums of the same name by different artists.
The other situation are producer-driven albums like Quincy Jones’ +The Dude+ or +Back On The Block+ . These are not compilations, as you described, because the songs were produced for the albums and Quincy Jones, although not a performer on any of the tracks, is the album artist. The exception is soundtracks that are compilations of songs typically produced for a given film. Like the situation you describe, each track has a different artist, so by having ‘Quincy Jones’ in the Album Artist tag for each track, iTunes maintains the integrity of the album and keeps the tracks properly grouped.
(Now if Apple would only acknowledge and fix the persistent bug that does not carry these grouping and sorting features over to the user’s music folder when they have enabled “Keep iTunes Music folder organized” in iTunes’ preferences.)
The situation you are specifically referencing is that of tagging compilations—albums that consist of tracks by various artists where there is no actual album artist—but you have used the Album Artist tag effectively forcing iTunes to see them as single artist albums. I also tag compilations—e.g., Various Artists (Hip Hop), Various Artists (Jazz), Various Artists (R&B), Various Artists (Soundtrack), etc.—, so I understand what you have done. Unfortunately, the fix for forcing the grid view to recognize individual artists in compilations may require you to clear out the Album Artist tag on all of your compilation album tracks forcing iTunes to revert to the Artist tag in place of the Album Artist tag.
What I would suggest is clearing the Album Artist tag of just one compilation and seeing what happens. If the album appears under “Unknown Artist”, or some other generic listing, in the grid view then iTunes only recognizes the Album Artist tag and I am at a loss as to what you could do. If it works as you hope, then you can go ahead an clear out the Album Artist field on the rest of your compilation albums.
The downside of clearing the Album Artist field is that iTunes will revert to its pre-version 7 habits and break up the albums; that is, a compilation with 12 tracks by 12 different artists will appear in the various views as 12 different albums albeit with the same name and cover art. To keep the tracks properly grouped in other views, you will need to mark all of the tracks from the compilation albums as “Part of a compilation” in the info dialog.

  • Group by Cover view has strange behavior

I've got a bunch of MP3s from the SXSW Showcased Artist music downloads that go out every year. When organizing by Album under the group by cover view, all of the album entries decide that they want to be segregated by artist as well.
This completey breaks the functionality of the group by cover feature as now I have about 1000 intermittent entries in my library.
For other albums with several artists listed, there is no issue.
Anyone know what's causing this fruity behavior?

It sounds like you don't have compilation checked in the album options, therefore reading each artist as a separate release? Not sure as I haven't fiddled with the new Itunes yet, but I'd have similar problems with arranging my files in Itunes 6. Hope that might help.
