Album and Music library are blank

Their are songs and pictures in the phone. They can be accessed via the file manager. The album and Music library show that there is no content. Help.

I did think of that, and I will admit that I'm an iPod newbie (it arrived yesterday). I did read iPod 101 yesterday, tho' and I seem to remember that iTunes updates the iPod, but not vice versa. Until I know for sure, I am reluctant to connect the iPod, because I don't want to risk losing the info that's there.
Do you know for sure this would work?

It would be nice if you told others the steps you've tried and/or how you used to have your setup.
Anyway have you tried tapping MORE this will then bring you to
the selection-list of Audiobooks, Genres, Compilations & Composers.
Selecting Genres gives you a list of all your music split into genres which was set within the Music downloaded via iTunes or uploaded from CD or which you may have set yourself.
Then you just select the Genre you want:
If certent songs are not correctly gategorised you may need to go into iTunes and reselect via Get-info
>Info>Genre and change it there. That way you should end up with all songs of Jazz or other in 1 place.

ITunes music library goes blank

When I open my iTunes, the music library appears blank - as if I have no music. For quite a while now I have been having these problems! I contacted apple and they recommended uninstalling and reinstalling all the apple applications I had, in a particular order. They gave me this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925 for help with uninstalling and reinstalling all of the applications. Once I had reinstalled iTunes I imported all of my music back onto iTunes, (deleting duplicates and remaking all of the playlists) and it was fine again, when I opened iTunes all of my music appeared in the library. However after a week, I opened iTunes again and my music was completely gone! It appears blank even after I remember adding all of my music. I called apple again and told them about this problem, but unfortunately they said that reinstalling iTunes was the only thing that they could think of and they couldn't track my iTunes because I have Windows Vista, not a Mac. I really don’t understand why it keeps erasing my music!! I don’t have a problem with adding my music again but I don’t want to have to constantly be adding my music after every week. Has this happened to anyone? If so, what are the solutions to this problem?
I have the latest iTunes, after reinstalling it again. Is there anything I could do to stop iTunes from deleting my music? Or is there a way to save my music on iTunes and for it to not get deleted after every few weeks?! I still have my music saved on my computer but I want it to be kept on iTunes without getting deleted. It’s just quite frustrating to have to constantly add all of my music!

It's your Sony Vaio, and I bet those problems started soon after you first ran the Sony Entertainment software that gets pre-installed. This issue has been dogging Vaio owners for over 2 years.
Either download the fix from Sony that makes it stop attacking the itunes database file

Your photos are actually all in the Camera Roll. The album you create only contain pointers to these pictures. Albums are like music playlists; when you delete a song from the playlist it doesn't delete the song from your music library. But when you delete a song from your music library it will also be deleted from any playlists that it may have been in as well.

When you say a new user ID, are you referring to your Apple ID that you use to make purchases in the iTunes Store, etc? Or are you talking about a new user account on the same Mac?

You're probably trying to purchase iTunes Plus songs - which, yes, will require an updated version of iTunes to purchase. To play them, however, you won't need to update iTunes. This, like you said, will force you to purchase them on another computer and then transfer.

IPod as backup for my photo and music library

May I use iPod as backup device for my photo and music library in case of my iMac failure? Is this tested and recommended solution?

This is an extremely risky option because when (and not if) there comes a time to restore your iPod, which is a very common fix for iPod problems, then all the music/photos would be erased. If you no longer have them in iTunes (or any other back up), then all that music and other data would be lost.
What if the iPod were lost/stolen/needed repair? Again, the music would lost. I strongly recommend a different form of back up, and if computer hard drive space is in short supply, you should seriously consider an external hard drive. They are not expensive, and the cost is well worth it when compared to the loss of all your precious music and photos.
At the very least back up your music/photos to either cd or dvd before deleting them, particularly any purchased music/videos, as this would have to be bought again if it were lost. See this.

HT1420 Duplicated album and music on ipod and itunes

Whenever I connect my ipod to my itunes, I discover that my music is duplicated in my ipod. I just reset my ipod to the factory setting but I need to delete the duplicate Albums and music in my itunes before I syncronise my ipod with the itunes.

You can't sync or drag your non iTMS music back directly from an iPod to iTunes. The transfer of non iTMS content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod, the transfer of purchased content has recently been introduced with iTunes 7. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Transfering iTunes and music library to another computer

Hello,
I just got a new computer and I want to transfer my iTunes and music library to it. I would normally just transfer the files to the new computer, install iTunes, and rebuild my library, but there are two things: 1) I don't want to lose my playlists and 2) I have purchased music from the iTunes Music Store and I'm not sure it will play if I do it like that.
I have a feeling it has to do with deauthorizing the old computer.
Can anyone help?

You will definitely have to authorize your new computer. And if you won't be using the old one to play purchased songs any more, you should de-authorize it. Have a look at:

You wouldn't connect the iPod to the iPad for data transfers. Music is stored and shared either through a computer or iCloud.

Quit the app and restart the iPad.
In order to quit or close apps - Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Try the videos app again.

If you have a first Generation iPad then you cannot update beyond iOS 5.1.1
However you may be able to get compatible versoins of the Apps. To do so, you will have to download the App to iTunes on a computer or another device that does support the App using the same Apple Id you have on your iPad.
With that done you can follow these instructions from your iPad to get a compatible version:

Connect your phone back and resync except this time uncheck all the albums from itunes when you sync. This will take all the albums off your phone and clear up space on your phone.
