Album art all messed up

The album art on my iPod (on iPhone) is all mixed up. On iTunes (on my computer) it's all correct. How do I fix this?

What happens if you remove both albums involved in a mix-up then add them back one at a time? E.g. the U2 & John Legend albums... Do these albums share a title by any chance? iTunes & iPods have issues with albums that have the same name but are by different artists, e.g. "Greatest Hits". Various forms of tag inconsistency such as mixed casing ("The Album" and "The album") or using Sort fields to merge different values of artist may cause also indexing problems. If you can't find any other resolution then you could delete the *Album Artwork* folder and force iTunes to rebuild the album artwork cache from scratch, although this will remove any store downloaded artwork.

  • Windows 7 Music Library doesn't show some of my album art all of a sudden. No solutions found!!

So my music files in my music folder on the computer still doesn't show the album art. some of the art covers still exist on the music files but newly downloaded and some music files that existed don't show the album art anymore.
I've tried most of the solutions online but none of them solved the problem. I don't think it's the media player because when I play it on the media player it shows the album art for the music. And I also cleared the cashe in the mediaplayer folder. There
must be something with the system because the folder showed the cover art before but all of a sudden it stopped displaying them.
I don't know what's wrong with it...is there something that makes the music album art not show all of a sudden and the album art doesn't show for the newly downloaded music as well...

    Hi haydnan
It may be a problem of Windows 7 Explorer. First you can try all the different explorer views, title, Large icon..
If there is no effect, you can try to the following methods.
    In Windows Explorer
    1. left click on the mail folder where your music is stored and select it.
    2. Now right click and go to “properties”.
    3. Now click “advanced”.
    4. Put a check in the “Allow files in this folder to have contents indexed in addition to file properties”.
    5.Click ”OK”.
    6.Click”Apply”.
    7. Click “OK” to apply changes to this folder. Sub folders and files.
Now go to your music library and see if it works.

  • Album art: all g

Please help! I have a Vision:M 30g. When I bought it last year, my girlfriend fixed it up to disply album art in the album menu. Yesterday the screen went fuzzy/flickery and, following a support email, I've rebooted, updated the firmware and run clean-up twice. This has not fixed the screen and has also reset the player so that the album menu appear as a text list - although when a track is played the album art still appears. I really want the album art back in the album menu but can't find any advice - none I understand, anyway - relating to this in the forums.
    Thanks.
Also, any thoughts on the flickery, grainy screen also welcome!

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
This sounds very peculiar and I'm not sure where this problem may be located. But I suggest that you try updating your music info using Media Go and transfer your songs to the SD card.

    Hello, i need some help,
All of my album work keeps changing on my ipod classic and i dont know why?
Everytime i dissconect it from the laptop all the albums change to a different album cover,
Bare in mind i have about 300-400 different albums on there.. its really annoying because i havent got the songs on this laptop to re-do it, so i cant back it up properly, without ripping all of my cd collection back onto the laptop.
    anything i can do?
the only the that ive done new is update to a new version of itunes, and its litrally ****** it up.
    Help would be appreciated.

If your iPod is set to update automatically then try this:
    1. Connect your iPod
    2. Disable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes.
    4. Re-enable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.

  • How can the album-art, which is all in iTunes , suddenly only shows partially on the iPod classic 160 gb?

I'm user of iTunes for years and in possession of 2 iPod classics.
For both iPods I have a specific playlist created, which I sync with iTunes. Each of my nearly 50,000 tracks in iTunes comes with the right Album-art (all 500 x 500 pixels and 72 dpi) andeach track contains also the necessary meta data and is converted to 160 or 192 kbps  M4a. In Finder on my MacBook I can see that the M4a files all contain album-art, because the file icons show the album art for each file name! Also in the grid overview of iTunes you can see them all, no exception.
For years that went well. Now,  a week ago, I made a new playlist (16,000 tracks) for one of my iPod classics because I wanted a different content! The old playlist I discarded and synchronized the new one.  Now it appears that a large number of album-art on the iPod is not shown, nor in cover-flow nor during play-back. I then tried to get my new playlist updated by exported as XML and then imported into iTunes again. In that case all tracks from the list are checked for completeness against the library and after import it should be fine. Unfortunately, it is not the case. Still the album-art is not shown for all tracks/albums on the iPod.
I run iTunes (11.2.2 (3)) on a MacBook Pro at the end of 2009, with the latest OSX version (10.9.3) and with enough disk space and memory.
My iTunes library is on a NAS (Synodisk DS209J II plus) the iPods run on the latest sw version (1.1.2) and are both Apple formatted.
I wonder if this is an iPod error or something wrong with the library. I hope you will understand, that I do not want to lose all the metadata of the 50,000 tracks by rebuilding the library, especially things like: date added, number of times played, rating, comments!
I hope someone can provide me an acceptable solution.
    With regards, Sign-X

I'm a bit confused, but I assume you want to shuffle your playlist while you are playing it in iTunes. If this is so, you will actually have to start playing a song before the shuffle button appears, and it appears in the top center panel of your iTunes window. Yeah, I know...

  • Album Art Screwed Up

I have all of the correct album art set-up. All of the names and info is right. The album art is correct on the computer, however, when I go to my iTouch, the album art is messed up. It is taking other art from other albums and putting it in random other albums. it is also taking iMix art, even after the iMix has been deleted, and using it for album art. If I try to go in and erase and put in the correct art on my computer, it will fix that one album, but four other ones will have messed-up art. Any idea on how to help?

You need to re-build the artwork index on the Touch, which requires you to either delete all music and re-add it, or better yet, Restore the Touch and re-load your last backup (which also deletes music and re-adds it). This happens on occasion and is a nuisance, but an easy one to fix.

  • IPod album art does not match song

Whenever I play songs on my iPod the album art is messed up. The art does not show up with the correct song and I don't know what to do. I have checked and all of the album art is correct on the computer. I don't know what is wrong with my iPod and I would like to be able to solve this problem without having to send my iPod out to Apple. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

If you have an iTunes store account, you can use the "get album artwork" option in iTunes. You don't actually need to purchase anything from the iTunes store, just to have or create an account. Provided that the album or song for which you are looking to add artwork is available for sale in the store, iTunes will find it and add it to your library.
If you go to preferences/general in iTunes and check the box marked "automatically download missing album artwork", it will automatically add the artwork when you import a CD into iTunes.
One downside to this is that if you have an album or song misspelled in your iTunes library, it may not be found by iTunes because it will be looking for a match.
See: How to add artwork using iTunes.
If you don't have an account or don't want to create one, here are a couple of other methods.
First off, make sure you have "show album art" enabled in iPod options.
Highlight a song or album in iTunes, then right click on it and select the "get album artwork" option.

Go to Google Image Search and type in the artist/album name and click on search images.

Double click on a picture you like, then at the top of that page click on "see full size image".

When you get that image, simply copy/paste it into the space for album artwork in iTunes.

Make sure you select the album in the browser of iTunes before you copy/paste.

You'd be surprised what Google Images can bring up. There are literally millions, and even obscure album artwork can be found.
In the unlikely event that Google can’t find an image, you can also get artwork from Amazon.
If you’re happy using images from Amazon, and don’t want to copy/paste, then iTunes Art Importer is a nice free program to do it for you.

  • IPod Album Art Broken

    Hello,
I've done some searches but couldn't find a real solution. After adding a couple movies to my iPhone the album art started messing up. I have multiple albums (always the same ones) that mess up; for example one album shows the top 1/3 as the correct cover, and the bottom 2/3 as a scene from a movie I synced...
Other albums will show a 'genius mix' square of 4 different covers in a square, like you would if you went to the genius tab and tried to select a mix.
    --Thank you for your time

Okay, I decided to remove the media from my iPhone and then sync it back with iTunes and it solved the problem. All of the album art is correct after this manual 'refresh' of sorts.

  • Album art not syncing on 3G

Whenever I sync my iPhone with iTunes, it only syncs some of my album artwork, and then about half of it appears with the standard blank, even though it has artwork assigned to it on iTunes.
Any ideas what the issue could be?

Just discovered a way to not fix this problem, but stop it from happening again.
I suspect our lost artwork was from copy/pasting the artwork into itunes. somehow the syncing with the iphone, has made itunes 'forget' where it saved the temporary file of the copy/pasted artwork.
    So...
i created a folder in itunes (user > music >itunes > album artwork) call 'manual'. i physically saved the JPEGS in there for all the artwork i wanted to add manually.
i then went back to itunes, selected the albums with the missing art, did 'get info' (apple I) on one of the songs in each album, and then instead of copy/pasting the art into Artwork tab, i did 'Add' then selected the JPEG file from my 'manual' folder.
next sync (and all subsequent syncs so far), the problem has not re-appeared.
HOWEVER! oddly it still affects one CD. no idea why. the artwork is in Itunes, but just doesn't show on the iphone. no idea why.
BOTTOM LINE Apple need to fix this bug. It's really irritating.
And one quick way around this is to stop users having to manually add album art all the time. All my songs are on itunes to buy, so there is no reason why iTunes couldnt supply the artwork. Apple need to link the database they use to recognise CDs (when you 'rip' them to iTunes) with their own itunes store database, so if the track data or album art is missing, you have the option to 'find this album'. this would be a fantastic feature.

  • Album Art is taking over my PC!

Is there anywhere which describes the proper folder structure for iTunes v9 on the PC?
I have watched it change where it keeps the audio from:
    *My Music/iTunes/iTunes Music*,
    to:
    *My Music/iTunes/iTunes Media*
and now it has gone even deeper into a new Music folder in:
    *My Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music*
(although quite a few albums have been left behind in iTunes Media for some reason.
However.... I now seem to have Album Art all over the place!
There is a folder in *My Music/iTunes/* called *Album Artwork* and in that are two folders called Cache and Download
Then in *My Music/iTunes/iTunes Media* I STILL have all the *nested Artist/Album folders* that used to have the music in. The music has now moved to *another set of nested folders* in the *My Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music* folder, but the old folders structure remains with a whole load of album art files in them.
Then inside *iTunes Media* there's ANOTHER folder called *Album Artwork* with folders inside called Cache, Download and Local.
This is getting silly! Surely it doesn't need the artwork in THREE different places?
Can someone explain which places are still needed and which ones I can get rid of?
And will it all change again on the next update?

Here are typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
The newer *iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\<Artist>\<Album>* layout somewhat belatedly recognises that iTunes is no longer just a music player but holds all kinds of media and tries to structure each kind into its own set of folders inside the main *iTunes Media* folder.
iTunes 9 has an option to upgrade libraries in the older layout to *iTunes Media Organisation*. This would normally involve moving an awful lot of files about, but for reasons best known to Apple they didn't automatically rename any existing *iTunes Music* folder as *iTunes Media*. I suspect, however, that it was originally part of the plan as I have found that in many cases I have been able to simply rename *iTunes Music* as *iTunes Media* and iTunes knows where to find every file. Of course milage may vary and I'm not sure what happens if the library has some content in iTunes Music, other in iTunes Media and you try to merge the two... It may well go badly.
Another legacy of the older layout is that the .xml file is called *iTunes Music Library.xml* if, and only if, the iTunes library folder is in the default *(My )Music* folder for the Windows profile. Move or create a library elsewhere and it will be called simply *iTunes Library.xml*. (Haven't checked 9.2, but we'll assume that hasn't changed for now.)
Moving on... iTunes doesn't store art locally in your folders, but Windows Media Player does. If WMP has catalogued your library and then iTunes later rearranges everything you may well have a whole heap of folders containing nothing but hidden artwork, desktop.ini & Thumbs.db files. The solution is a script I wrote called CleanDeadArt.
The folders below *iTunes\Album Artwork* are artwork caches that iTunes creates to aid the display of art in iTunes and on any devices. If you throw the folders away iTunes will just rebuild them. You will also lose any store downloaded art that you haven't embedded into your files.

I click on one song and another one starts playing.  Cover art for one artist shows up on another album.  All of my music isn't showing up.  Please help.  Why is this happening?  How can I fix it?

Sorry for not getting back with you...
That moves only the iTunes media, not the iTunes library (which is really kinda nebulous).
iTunes library = iTunes folder and all the media, wherever it is located.
The /Music/iTunes/ folder contains the iTunes library.itl file, which keeps track of everything in iTunes.
I do however still have the original MAIN startup drive still in the computer, it's just not the startup.
This is good you still have it.
    Try this...
    Hold Option and launch iTunes.
Select Choose library... and select the /iTunes/ folder on the original drive. It should be in /Users/your_user_name/Music/.
Don't mess with anything. We can get it cleared up.
    Does everything work okay?

  • Album Arts messed up

    Hi,
a percentage of my album artworks appears completely messed up, that is, some tracks have the album art of other trucks, and for some of them the album art is completely missing. On iTunes, album arts are set correctly for every track.
Already tried restoring iPod to defaut settings, deleting all the content and "Show album artwork on iPod" (I'm Italian, so I don't know if it is the right translation).
Also, is there a way to report this bug to Apple in a decent way? I can't find e-mail support or anything except for hardware problems

Hey I am having EXACTLY the same problem. Any help out there??

  • How can I display all album art of my library in iTunes

All my music tracks in my library contain the respective album art within their ID3-tags and it is perfectly displayed in the lower left corner window when I select or play a track.
What I really would like to do is to browse through my library using the album art, not the text-based endless lists (title, album, interpret, genre etc.), then click on a cover, see the tracks and select one.
Is there a feature in iTunes already that can do that or a plug-in somewhere in the market ? (I do not need a tool that collects album art like eyejamz, but a tool to display the art I already have)
Thanks a lot for any feedback

    Bakergirl,
You can use iTunes to remove the beginning or end of a song (or both) by setting the Start and Stop times.
But to remove a section from the middle and keep the rest, you will need an audio editor such as Audacity.

  • How can I quickly get the same album art for all tracks on an album without manually doing them one at a time?

I am having trouble with album art linked to each track. My library is ripped from my own cd's and ITunes only provides some of the artwork from a find artwork search. The rest must be found and added one at a time manually from web. This process is tedious and time consuming for me. Is there a file in iTunes related to each album that I can just drop the art once and it shows up linked to all the tracks from that album when they play? I've tried selecting all songs from an album and dragging the artwork to the artwork window once in hopes of all tracks getting the artwork at the same time with no luck. Any advice for this paltry artwork dilemma would be appreciated. If Cassidy & Greene still owned this ******* child of SoundJam I know I would not be having this problem! HaHa...Thanks for any advice/help with this problem.

Thx 4 quick reply alexbird. Your method will work and after a little experimenting so will this: Just go to the album art view option and highlight the album you want artwork for. Drag the artwork from your album art web search page to bottom left hand album art window in iTunes and just drop it there. A small progress window then appears showing each album track adopting the dropped artwork one by one. It only takes 10-15 seconds for all of the tracks on your album to adopt the new artwork. I then went back and removed unwanted artwork(from the albums that had it) track by track from the get info menu. This goes pretty quick as you just pick track>get info>artwork>highlight art>delete>ok for each track.
This drag/drop to the album art view page has been the simplest and most effective way I have discovered to manually import album artwork into iTunes so far. Hope this helps someone else out there. Any other methods or suggestions to do this task added to this thread will be duly noted. Thx... Oh, I am currently using iTunes 10.5.1

  • Album Art on my 4th gen iPod Touch is all mixed up?

It is all fine on iTunes, but when synced to my iPod the art changes for most of the songs, to the wrong album art. I have tried restoring, deleting all album art and putting it back, and nothing worked.

Not a preferred solution but it did work. Set it up as a new iPod. Fixed everything. Thanks.
