Album Art Deleted with iOS 8 Update

This is a minor annoyance, but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this.
After updating to iOS (OTA upgrade), some of my album art has disappeared. It appears to be music that I purchased or downloaded from iTunes, mostly songs that were purchased in the last month or two. Album artwork that I manually downloaded or put in place is still there. I thought maybe it was just a glitch with the update, so I plugged my phone into my computer and synced with iTunes, and still nothing. I even tried removing the album artwork and then adding manually, then syncing, but still nothing.
Anyone else experience this, and is there a way to sync artwork to the phone? It shows up fine in iTunes, so I'm not sure why it's showing up as blank in the Music app.

Weirdly enough, the problem has gotten worse. I bought the iPhone 6, then set it up as a new phone. My music syncs ... except for a couple of tracks (seems to be whatever is playing in iTunes at the moment, but not always). Then, on the next sync, it'll sync about 2000 songs...and then a new batch will be missing. It's just a few songs missing each time, but it randomly changes on each sync. Also 2000 songs haven't been changed since the last sync, so I don't know what it's doing. Selecting "Manually manage" seems to help, but I like the sync to be automatic and in the background. My phone is connected to the computer by USB, not WiFi.
iOS problem, cable problem (using the one that came with the phone), or phone problem?

  • Album art problems with Vision M 30

I've tried everything to add album art to my player, but it doesn't show on the player.
    I have:
    - put a folder.jpg file in my existing mp3 dir and then uploaded it to the player again (even resized it to 200x200 and less than 50 Kb)
    - tried album art within the id3 tags
    - updated to the latest firmware: .62.02e
    - used several programs such as album cover art downloader
    - uploaded with media explorer
can't get it to work. It looks like I have to activate it somewhere on the player, but that can't be right...
    Any help is welcome

  • IPhone4 Music album art swapping with other albums?

So my iPhone 4 has been going through some issues since the release of 4S:
Slow performance; freezing whilst receiving messages (both iMessage and standard txt); phone vibrates and makes the noise, then 30 seconds later lights up with the alert/notification on the screen.
But the strangest of all, is that randomly the music album art swaps with each other. What is clearly a male artist and his album art, randomly gets Kylie Minogues Album art? However, in iTunes, the album art is correct? I have repeatedly Sync'ed, however, don't want to "restore" the iPhone. But I feel I am fast approaching this as my final option.... :-(
    Any idea's?
This might be the conspirer in me - but issues like this occur whenever Apple bring out the newer version of the iPhone... a plot to make us upgrade out of frustration?
    Many thanks,
         BN0079

Hi, mine's having the same issue, but only of late. I have posted a similar question on here - but judging from your's being posted in August lol - maybe I won't have any luck.
My next stop is to delete all albums and music from my iPhone4 and then BackUp. I'll restore my phone to factory settings and start again.
If that fails to solve the issue, Apple will have to issue me a new phone over the Genuis Bar in-store. :-)

  • Problem with iOS 5 update

    Hi everyone!
Has someone of you have a problem with iOS 5 update? My iPhone after updating to the newest version, from time to time appears "There's no SIM card" . I don't know if there's a problem with MY iPhone or update "error"? Thanks in advance for your response.
    Best regards,
    glaenken

Did you try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again?
Also try this, copied from http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
"No SIM installed" alert (GSM models only)
Remove the SIM card (micro-SIM on iPhone 4). Insert the SIM eject tool or the end of a small paper clip into the hole on the SIM tray. Press firmly and push it straight in until the tray pops out. See this document for more information.
Verify the SIM card is not damaged or dirty.
    Reinstall the SIM card.
Turn the phone off and back on.
Wait approximately two minutes, then see if iPhone detects the SIM card and if it will register on the network.
If that doesn't work, try another SIM card, if possible, to see if it is detected.

  • Most albums missing album art on iPod Touch after updating to iOS 7

    Hi there,
I updated my 5th-gen iPod Touch to iOS 7 yesterday.
As the activation servers were overloaded for most of the afternoon, the update failed for me and my iPod touch ended up wiped and in recovery mode.
I installed a blank iOS 7 and then restored my settings from the previous day's iCloud backup.
I then reuploaded all my music from iTunes to the iPod.
Most of the album art is missing from the iPod and it's making me very sad. All the album art is visible in iTunes, so this is rather confusing. There seems to be no consistency to it, between albums I bought on iTunes or albums I bought elsewhere and ripped to MP3 and added to my iTunes library, or albums for which I got the art directly from iTunes or by adding it myself.
I'm using a PC with Windows 8 and the latest version of iTunes, if this matters.
    Any ideas?

    That happens sometimes

  • Album art, separate drive, can't update

I have searched the forums and have found many old posts concerning some of my issues. Nothing current, as far as I can tell
I am running (connected, not wireless) Front Row from my iBook in my den to my amplifier. It is streaming music from my Mac Pro. It works very well, music, playlists, movies, with the exception of the cover art. There is none. I have all the art on the host computer.
I have a Mac Pro holding all my music for iTunes. They are located:
    data drive>music>iTunes>iTunes Music.
I also moved the Library, xml, and Album Art files to:
Data Drive>Music>iTunes folder. I then deleted the original location files.
iTunes recreates the Album Art file, iTunes Library and iTunes xml file in the home music folder
On my iBook, from Applications, Front Row is listed as Version 1. I have tried several times to upgrade to the current version 2.1.6. I go through all the steps and it says the install was successful. However it always returns with version 1. I also tried version 2.1.3 and I was informed I did not need this update.
I have read that there is a bug in Front Row that will not allow cover art to be seen.
Any insight will be most helpful
    Thank you

The "version" of Front Row in your Applications folder will ALWAYS report as version "1.0". That is simply a launcher file but not the true application. The actual Front Row application is buried in your System folder. If you open Front Row and check the Settings, you can find the version you're using there.

  • Photogene App crashes with some photos with iOS 8 update, not others when in edit

SInce the iOS 8 update some when I select a photograph or when scrolling pictures in an Album, the App crashes.  This never happened before this new upgrade.  I've used it for months.  Any help appreciate.  With certain pictures, no problem.  I make personal cards for printing and this app has been great until now.  I go into one album, scroll, select a photograph p, work in it, no proble.  I move to another Album, and whil scrolling it crashes, repeatedly..  This app replaced the iPhoto App as that one was multiplying pictures like rabbits and alleged fixes and visits to the Apple Store did not solve the problem.  The Appke Store personnell were great but no one could fix that issue.  I deleted it.  Many, many others everywhere had that similar problem.  Any help with this crashing problem is appreciated.

Thank you, Ralph,  for your reply.  I'm a practical person so I tried trial and error.  It was recents ans larger Albums that the Photogene crashed.  I could make a card from my smaller Albums.  So I transferred a few photos from the ones that crashed to the successful Album(s).  I could edit, put Text, save, export to my library, e-mail and post on FaceBoo.  That worked for me.  A round about way, but it works.  Again, thanks.

  • Album art deleted, why?

I used my iPod with my computer, worked fine. I used my brother's computer to add some music. After I unplugged, all my album art was gone. Was this because I didn't hit the "eject" button? I hit the eject button on my other friend's computer and it didn't erase the album art. I think this is the reason, but is it safe to use my brother's computer which deleted the album art before? If i just hit the eject button?
Hope this isn't too confusing. Thanks

  • Sync and album art problems with iPhone 3G

The other day my iPhone was sitting in the cradle syncing and I noticed iTunes (8.02) was deleting the apps from the phone. I cancelled that sync and in iTunes I saw that the "Sync Applications" checkbox was unchecked, but I hadn't unchecked it. I then rechecked the box and synced my apps back onto the phone.
Today I added some songs to a playlist and synced, but the sync time seemed suspiciously short. When I checked iTunes I saw that all of my sync content boxes were unchecked...Sync Music, Sync Videos, etc. When I check one of the boxes iTunes threatens to delete all the content presently on my phone and replace it with content from the library....which is of course the same content except for the few songs I copied into one playlist. I don't really want to sit around and wait until this stupid phone replaces 15gb of content with the same 15gb of content. Sometimes this thing acts like such a piece of junk.
Perhaps this is related, but some weeks ago I purchased a Colbie Caillat album from the ITMS. Whenever I play a song from this purchase on my iPhone it shows the album art for an Usher album I already had in my library. If I play the same song on one of my iPods, the album art is correct. Apparently some sort of corruption is afoot in either iTunes, the iPhone or both. Is there some way to get iTunes and the iPhone on the same page without having to wipe and restore this stupid phone? Thanks.

I bit the bullet and checked all the boxes and synced, and the phone did not go through with the threat to erase all my content. It just synced the one changed playlist instead. False alarm. However, the album art issue remains.

  • Weird Album Art Cover Bahavior - won't update a few albums - HELP.

I have a weird issue that keeps coming up. I have 7.3 loaded - same thing used to happen on all other versions and it's really bugging me.
I have album art for all of my albums now except 2. One is Boards of Canada and another is Paul McCartney. When I tell iTunes to look for album art - it says it's not available. Fine - so I go to "get info" for a track, go to the art tab, hit add and add in the album art I've downloaded - it will then show in the lower left pane for "now playing" - but it won't show as the main album cover in cover flow.
I've tried deleting the entire album, adding it back in - updating album art for the whole album or track at a time, no go - no matter what I do I can't get it to show.
Sometimes during this process - it will also lock up my pc and I'll have to re-boot too.
    Any ideas?

Select all tracks in the album. Drag and drop the desired image file directly on the "Drag Album Art Here" box in the lower left corner of the main iTunes window.
Note: To avoid a clutter problem, you first should select all tracks on the album, right-click, select Get Info, and check the box next to the (hopefully empty) Artwork box and then click OK. As long as the Artwork box is/was empty, this will clear out all the old artwork before you add the art following the simple instructions in the first paragraph above.

  • ITunes fetching default album art from installed iOS app

    Hello,
Whenever I import an MP3 file (by dragging it from Finder) with -no- embeded artwork into iTunes I'd expect this to be added with the default double quaver album artwork.
However the default artwork is instead taken from an iPad/iPhone app from my iTunes library! iTunes was assigning the icon from the World Atlas app, I removed this app, tried importing the MP3 file again and iTunes instead assigned the icon from a differrent app.
This happens with -all- MP3 files with no embedded artwork. MP3 files with embedded artwork are fine, with iTunes using the correct artwork from the file.
It seems iTunes has somehow lost the double quaver (I suppose it's still in iTunes/Contents/Packages somewhere) from a cache? But clearing this cache may not be a solution as, as I mentioned before when I delete the app from where iTunes assigns its image, it then proceeds to get the image from -another- app.
MP3 files with no embedded artwork show the double quaver fine in Finder.
Does anybody have any ideas on this?
    Thanks very much in advance.
    J

I've read it, and I'm not a legal person, so if you want to be sure you need to contact MS support or a legal expert, but my take is this:
    - The mass download doesn't conflict with the TOU, just as long as it's an end user initiating the mass downloads. Once agents, robots, scripts and spiders initiate a mass download you are violating the TOU.
    - Copy, store, cache is allowed assuming the end user has a valid subscription.
but the sample they gave with fetching data does not check for the user subscription, it checks for my developer subscription...
I contacted microsoft directly...let's hope they answer soon...I will post their answer here...
I can use the API as long as I put the "available on xbox music" badges on the album art as well

  • NEED HELP WITH IOS 6 UPDATE!!! PLEASE.

I have an 8GB iPhone. The iOS 6 update says that I need 2.4GB available to update. I deleted all of my apps, 200 pictures out of 400 plus videos. It says only 5.1GB are used but it won't let me update the iOS 6. Help me please?

    jayfram wrote:
I am having the exact same problem.  Can't upgrade via the phone, even with a wifi connection - says I need 2.4 gb of storage, although the software is only 500 mb.  I'm not about to delete everything on my phone just to update the OS.
So plug the phone into the computer that it normally syncs with and update via iTunes.

  • Album art inconsistant with iPod?

I recently updated my album art for the obvious reasons, and it all went fine, until I looked at my iPod. Some of my songs (I've only notices a few by The Clash) display different album art on my iPod. It shows fine on iTunes, so why should the iPod show it different?

    Try the following procedure:
    1. With your iPod connected, highlight it in the device list and click on the "Music" tab.
    2. Uncheck the "display album artwork on iPod" box and click "Apply".
    3. When the iPod is finished updating, re-check the box and click "Apply" again.
I had the same issue with iTunes 6, and this worked for me. The album artwork links on the iPod just get corrupted sometimes, and need to be re-written.

  • Album Art not syncing properly since updating Touch and iTunes (Mac and Win

Both my partner and I are both experiencing problems with cover art on our Touches.
He uses Vista and I use a Mac - before we updated everything was fine. iTunes displays the right album art but when you run through coverflow on the touches you end up with random album art. Currently I have a Janet Jackson album cover on an album belonging to A-ha.
The same problems occurs with my partners touch.
Is this a bug in the Touch update or iTunes update? Can it be fixed - I am not sure how though as iTunes appears to be displaying the right information!

I have not seen this behavior, but you might want to try a restore on the Touch to see if that helps.
I have to wonder about something possibly being wrong on your library - possibly outdated or bad ID3 tags.
YOu could try to fix this by: (I saw this fixed issues for others elsewhere, but I have not done it)
    Open iTunes.
Select all of your music in your library.
Goto the Advanced menu and select "Convert ID3 tags"
Select ID3 tag version and select 2.4 from the drop-down menu, click OK.
It will take a while, depending on how much music you have.
Restore the iPod(s) and sync again.
    Does that fix it?
