Album art doing weird things with iTunes 7.3.1.3

About a week after I got this version, all my music got deleted somehow. I've added it all back, but album art is screwy. Sometimes it only shows a black square where the art should be. Other times it won't change the art to what I want it to be. These things happen regardless of whether I change many songs at once or one at a time. Is there a patch or something? I don't want to restore the iPod again...it takes way too long to rename all my songs and put them in specific playlists!!

Hi blob2,
Although it may not be the solution to your problem, there's been a new version of iTunes that was released a few days ago, which may provide some sort of help with this issue for you.
The latest version is 7.3.2.6, and can be downloaded from Apple's website, here:
Download iTunes - 7.3.2.6
By the way, does this happen when you're trying to view the album art on your iPod, or does this just happen with your iTunes library?

  • Doing weird things with dataTipFormatFunction

OK, so here's my little problem:
I need to have a slider that spans a significant range of
values. The range (if we're talking units of time) goes from one
year all the way down to one second, with the difference between,
say, five and ten seconds being about as significant as the
difference between five and ten months.
"Aha!" I cried to myself. "That just means that I need to use
some of that fancy-dancy mathematics stuff that I learned in that
big brick building I went to once!"
And indeed, that's what I did: I put together a new component
by just inheriting from VSlider and tacking on some methods to
process slider.value as the input to a logarithmic scale. It's
pretty cool, too. All I do is bind to my slider.time property and
boom! I've got a slider that goes from a year to a second, with the
user being able to make fine-grained adjustments easily.
The only snafu popped up (quite literally) with the data tip,
which still showed slider.value. Kinda broke the illusion. No
problem: I just replaced dataTipFormatFunction with a function that
discarded the old slider.value-based string and returned a new one
based on my slider.time property. It even formatted it nicely,
switching units from seconds to minutes to hours to days to months.
But there's one last niggling problem. If I'm dragging the
slider along with the data tip showing and a neighboring text field
bound to slider.time, I get two different outputs. Dragging up the
scale, for example, my bound text field will say six seconds, while
the data tip still shows five. Releasing the thumb and clicking on
it again at that point will show the data tip at six seconds,
leading me to believe the following:
    1) The string with which dataTipFormatFunction() is called is
based on the change event, *not* the slider.value, and
    2) dataTipFormatFunction() is getting called *before* the
slider.value is assigned the new value.
So first, is that a fair conclusion? Since my custom data tip
function discards the old string and builds the new one based on a
function that accesses slider.value, it seems like a reasonable
    guess.
Second, anybody have any suggestions? I see two alternatives
right now: disable data tips, or extract the number from the
original string and pass it into a method that will re-scale it.
The second option is just kinda kludgy, so I'll probably just kill
the data tips, but I do like having the pop-up feedback available
while the user is making fine-grained adjustments.
Any other approaches? Am I missing something? Should I have
gone into podiatry like my mother wanted?

  • Album art does not migrate with music in 9.2

I use iTunes to tag my music the way I want them for the iPods then eventually drag certain songs out to a Finder folder for later storage on a DVD. I noticed with version 9.2 that when I drag a song or album out of iTunes the album art disappears. Is this a glitch or does someone know a work-around?

  • Album art does not correspond with song

My album art doesnt correspon with my song example: life in the fast lane b van halen instead of the Eagles!! How can i fix? Any info would help. Thanks.

I had the same problem and the only thing I could get to work was to erase everything on the ipod and reload it back from itunes. First I had to put all ipod files on my hard drive, clean out itunes and reload the saved files back to itunes and then back on the ipod. I think 1 of the songs has a bad id3 tag that messed it up. But after clearing everything out and then reloading it fixed it. Good luck

  • HT1409 Album Art Does Not Work With WAV Files

I seem to have discovered that album artwork does not "stick" to files in WAV format.  Is this true?  If so, it should be mentioned in this article.

  • My album art does not make it onto my iPhone 4S when I drag music over from my iMax in iTunes.

I have an iPhone 4S and the latest iMac.  I manually manage my content on my iPhone - I don't have anything automatically sync on it.  But when I drag music over to my iPhone the album art does not travel with it.  I have most of my audio in AIFF format in iTunes - other than stuff I buy digitally.  I have found that once the audio is over on my phone, I then have to copy the artwork over not once but TWICE before it will update on the phone and show up.  It does work though and that is fine.
My problem now is I purchase digital 'compilations' where each track has a different album cover because they come from different albums.  I just dragged over 250+ tracks and I'm not going to go in 1 by 1 and copy the album covers over twice for each track.
My phone used to update properly but in the last few months it stopped doing it properly so I'm wondering if there is something that needs to be reset on it to get it to work properly again.
I have all the files on my iPhone coverted to 128K for size issues and all my files in iTunes are at least 320K or higher so they all get down-converted when they are moved onto the iPhone.  I assume the artwork is somehow getting 'lost' in this conversion process.
    Thanks,
    Rob

Cool - yeah I grabbed that script as well.  Going to go through my library and run that one as well.  Seems to only be able to handle X amount of tracks at a time so will have to do it step by step.  I have about 21000 tracks in my library and it didn't like doing all at one time
Its fine if it compresses the images a bit - not a big deal.  Its only on my phone so its fine.  I'm probably a bit anal about things but I hate having tracks on my phone with no images - if there are images available.
    Thanks again!

  • Macbook Pro slow start up, freezing on Safari, weird things on iTunes

I have a mid-2012 Macbook Pro and it's never seemed to operate optimally. It's slow to start up and sometimes freezes on Safari pages. ITunes is difficult to navigate and does weird things. I haven't done the latest update because we don't have Wi-Fi at home. Could it be that or could I have a hardware problem? Thanks!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Album Art Does Not Resize in Album Art Panel

For some reason some of my album art does not fill up or resize when I resize the album art panel (the lower left hand side of itunes). This happens only with some, not all, of my art. Some additional background:
    - No problem with album art in cover flow or grid views
    - album art was embedded in file by another program (not itunes)
    - Occurs in itunes 7 and itunes 8
    - for the album art that is a problem, the art does not fill in the album art panel and therefore when i resize the panel, it just stays the same size.

I still don't understand why it would scale in the other views (cover flow and list view)
Who knows? The artwork preview panel pre-dates Cover Flow, so when Cover Flow was intoduced and made to scale art up as well as down, perhaps nobody considered revisiting the code for the artwork panel to make it work the same way. However, I find the existing behaviour quite handy for spotting when I have images that are too small, since these generally don't scale well. I have my artwork panel set to fit my minimum acceptable size of 200x200 pixels so if I ever notice a white border I know to try and find better quality art.

  • Album art does not match artist

About 50% of the album art does not match the artist titles on the iPod. In iTunes they are fine. I've reset and resynced. Any ideas?
    thanks

If your iPod is set to update automatically then try this:
    iTunes 6
    1. Connect your iPod
    2. Disable "Show Album art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes. (Disconnecting and then reconnecting your iPod will do the trick)
    4. Re-enable "Show Album Art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.
    iTunes 7
    1. Connect your iPod
    2. Disable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes.
    4. Re-enable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.

  • Album Art does not show up when using shuffle.

When I turn on shuffle in my 80gb Classic the album art does not show up.
It is about 50/50 some songs will show art and some will not. The art that did not show up the last time I shuffled will show up this time. It is not consistant. When I am not in shuffle the art always shows up just fine.
Anyone having this problem? Any ideas on how to stop this from happening? Thanks, Robert

You might also recreate your iTunes library on your computer... and then when you connect your iPod you should be presented with a dialogue asking you to erase & sync the iPod. Click the erase & sync button (provided your songs are still in iTunes).

  • Cover flow into album art and how to control iTunes from another app.

Hi all 2 areas of concen, one is coverflow/ album art and the other is itunes controller:
I have searched but cannot find the answer to this:
    1) I have some songs with album info already, and I used iTunes to get the album art for coverflow etc. ... some songs from the same album did not have the album category filled in, I go back and fill it in: now how do I get iTunes to recognize the album art so it shows up for the newly corrected songs?
    2) In coverflow, iTunes picked the wrong album cover, can I manually fix it/pick the right one?
    3) will coverflow only show album art for those albums recognized by iTunes, or will it use album art that I get from other sources and add manually? And what will show up in my ipod?
    and lastly
4), is there anyway to control iTunes without switching apps (if I am working in Word or safari and want to skip a song, etc)...is there an overlay controller?
    TIA

  • Windows 8 - SC6 started doing weird things, not working correctly

Windows 8 and CS6 - Liquifying tool not working and and actions not working correctly, back ground screen flickers and changes color and does weird things. I have done a complete D&R and it does the same thing. Someone with the same problem suggested a D&R and deactivate, then reinstall and reactivate, could this possibly work? if so, how would you do that? Thanks

Yes, one I can think of. Get the make and model of your video card and head over to the card manufacturer's website.
Check for and install the latest drivers for your card.
Also see if changing the settings of your GPU helps. Uncheck everything (OpenCL Anti-alias 30 bit displays) and start at Basic. then work your way up to Normal and Advanced.

  • My iPad does not have sound when on the Internet, including YouTube, but does have sound with iTunes and other apps.  How can I correct this?

My iPad does not have sound when on the Internet, including YouTube, but does have sound with iTunes and other apps.  How can I correct this?

If you are sure that you have sound in other apps - and if you can still hear keyboard clicks and get notifications, then system sounds are not muted. Try this and see if it works.
Close all apps completely and reboot the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
