Album art errors.

After restoring my 30gb video iPod after it froze, I uploaded all my songs back on, but for some reason the mini album art comes up incorrectly, always displaying the same art for every song, but if I switch to full screen album art, it comes up with the correct art. I'll try doing another full restore tonight and see how it goes.

Hi guys,
I have the same problem. I updated my 1st. generation touch to 2.2 version and I’ve lost all my music . I started recovering and reading my music to the touch but surprise: album cover won’t work. Before the update everything was fine, now i can see the album cover in the Itunes but not on my IPod. I manually manage my music. It is very, very annoying. I searched, a possible solution to this problem, for a couple of hours on the internet and tried to find a fix in the Itunes, but nothing

When trying to Add Album art to my iPod, An Unknown error (-50) shows up and the art does not show up on my iPod...
    help?

well it kind of gets hung up on all the music because of that cannot find the required disc error, it'll only load like 100 songs at a time. i have completely restored my ipod and everything back to factor settings but it still does this. even on the laptop it was used on before it did this but only with 2 albums, not with as many now. none of the songs are downloaded from anywhere but itunes or from cd's. all the songs play, i checked that, and all the album art on itunes is correct. i think apple products hate me seeing as how the little ipod shuffle that clips is the only one i've ever had without a problem. i'm on my 6th ipod in like 3 years. it's ridiculous.

  • Cover Flow/Album Art Errors

This problem has carried over from firmware 2.1. My album art is all messed up. I'll add album on one album but it will show up on two albums, or album are won't show at all. Weird random glitches like that. I also manually manage my music. Any ideas on how I can fix these problems so cover flow works properly?

  • Error -60 and No Album Art

So I bought a new cd and burned it to iTunes. (for some reason the track info didn't come up either, but that's not my problem) I started syncing my iPod and it came up saying iPod cannot be synced error -60. I've looked through the forums and saw that supposedly a song is corrupted. Well I only had another album on my iPod since I last synced my iPod so I deleted that album and the one I just burned. I also noticed with the 2 albums I put on my iPod the song will play 2-5 seconds and skip songs. I saw the song that wouldn't sync and created an AAC (or ACC I forgot which it is) and resynced it. Yet another song wouldn't sync. Now these songs that are apparently "corrupt" I've had on my iPod for a long time. I don't know what's up.
I put the cd I burned on my iPod again and it synced, but there's no album artwork. I have it on iTunes, but it's not showing up on the iPod. I tried "get album artwork" (and it found it) and also getting it off the Internet. Neither works.
Also for some reason I can't eject my iPod. It says files are being used, even though iTunes is the only program running. So I have to go into my computer and it still takes 3 tries to eject it. This only started happening 3 days ago, and it's really getting on my nerves.
    So here are my questions:
    1. Error -60, how can that be fixed
    2. Why is my iPod only playing 2-5 seconds in a song and then skipping
    3. Why is the album artwork showing in iTunes, but not on my iPod ( This is only for the 2 new albums I've put on my iPod, the rest of the songs still have their artwork)
    4. Why can't I eject my iPod without it saying it's in use.
All these problems only started 3 days ago when I synced my iPod for the first time in about a week. Oh btw please don't tell me to restore my iPod, I have over 8,000 songs.
    Any help?

I had the same issue and came to the boards for help. Sure enough a simple reboot of the phone did the trick.
As for songs cueing up at the end or in the middle; I've had that same issue but haven't had it for a couple weeks.
I'm hoping that it's been resolved but one thing to try if you haven't already is to remove all playlists and songs then re-sync (a reboot in between might help; I didn't do that but it certainly can't hurt).
Anyway, rebooting your iPhone should fix the album art lock screen issue.
    Good luck.

  • Ipod cannot be updated (-50 error) when trying to upload album art

For some reason, when I check the "Display album artwork on your ipod" box, I'll end up with an -50 error, even though the album art is already in iTunes and I can upload songs/photos/videos just fine. Latest version of iTunes and iPod FW.
I've tried unchecking/rechecking the box, ejecting the ipod, restarting the ipod, itunes, Windows, to no avail. Hoping it's just an annoying problem with a simple solution.

disconnect your ipod without ejecting it using itunes. just unplug it, and all the artwork should be there

  • Error -50 when trying to add album art.

The only reason these is really peeving me because I literally spent around 5 hours putting album art to the 450+ albums on my iPod. This is what I did.
Because my friend advised me that syncing with the library is bad and the fact that i'm a super organization freak I added the album art directly to the tracks under iPod as opposed to editing the tags from my library and syncing. I figured since ID3 tags can be made straight to the tracks on the iPod, I could add the artwork. Turns out after I added all the artwork and through iTunes I could view it, they weren't showing up on my iPod, which is problem number one.
Half of my albums already had the artwork. I saw an option in iPod option under iPod>>Music to display artwork. I unchecked it, it said it was deleting artwork from iPod. I rechecked it, and it said it was optimizing, and the bar SLOWLY filled, about a minute in it gives me error -50 "The iPod cannot be updated" anybody know whats going on?

This usually indicates an input/output error.  Sounds like some data corruption where your printer drivers are installed.  See my FAQ*:

  • Album art and error 50

    hi there!
ok heres the deal. i have a brand new 30GB ipod video and i use windows XP (sp2) with itunes 6. Like many other people on here, my album work was showing up in itunes, but not on my ipod. i added the artwork via my ipod in the source list. i have unchecked the box that says wheather or not to display album art, then disconnected the ipod and reconnected it. i then rechecked the album art box in the preferences and it began to "optimize album art" and update. when it was supposed to be finished it gave me error 50...something like "the ipod [my ipods name] could not be updated because of an unknown error (-50)"
i have looked all over the apple site and all through discussions yet no answers have come my way. please help. thanks.

This worked for me too. My ipod is now displaying the album art again.
im FLABBERGASTED! i was fiddling with itunes and
    the
album art (i added the artwork to the library even
though it was already on the ipod) and nothing was
working. i got the same error. then...my cat was
walking around by my pc cords and accidently
unplugged it from the wall. everything went off.
    my
ipod went back to its main menu (from the do not
disconnect)i picked it up just to see how it was
acting and now all the album art is showing
    up....im
not telling all of you to improperly dc your
    ipods...im just plain flabbergasted....
hey... i was having the same problem, and i tried
that, and it worked for me too! thanks. just
disconnect your ipod without ejecting it on the pc.

  • When optimizing my album art, Unknown Error(-50)

Unknown Error(-50) consistently pops up when i try to put album art onto my iPod. i have enabled it in the iPod options, reset the iPod, charged it to full, i have the latest versions of software, and i have checked to make sure that all 200 songs work and are not glitched. someone please tell me how to fix this and what the error means.

    hi thisisivan!
hmmm. how many songs do you have album art for that you need to try to sync to the ipod?
the (-50) in these circumstances can sometimes be caused by a corrupt image associated with a song file. the trick would be trying to work out which one was dodgy (if that was what was causing the issue).
maybe try switching the ipod to "manually manage songs and playlists" and trying to transfer the songs across a few at a time. if you find a particular batch of those songs that throws up the error, try moving across those songs one at a time until you find the one that is causing the grief (if that's what's going on).
then delete the artwork from that song (or songs).
    does that help at all?
    love, b

  • Runtime Error, but only w/ album art

So everytime I and changing my info on a song, like Artist, album etc, i take Album Art from online and drag it into the album art box. This usually works no problem. but now when i do it after i click okay it says Runtime Error C++ something.
the thing is if I take the album art and save it on my computer then drag it from to desktop it works fine.. i dont understand it.
    Itunes Version: 7.6.2.9
Ipod Classic Version: 1.1.2 (just update like a few days ago, but i dont think that has anything to do with it)

Why is the happening? Anyone have any clues? I'm on Vista 32 bit with latest version of itunes.

I was able to fix this problem

  • ITunes 10.0.7.21 shows a white box instead of artwork for most of my albums.  Many of these are albums I purchased on itunes.  Also when I hit get album art it deleted the artwork it already had form many albums and says it cant find it.

    OS is Windows 7
I updated iTunes the other day and I decided to run "get album art" and instead of finding artwork, it made some of the artwork I already had show up as white squares, or disapear entirely.  The ones that are white squares show up under the get info, but not in itunes.  I did click in view for show al artwork, no luck.  Many of these albums I bought from iTunes.  The ones that the artwork was deleted some albums I can buy on iTunes, but already owned, and iTunes found the artwork before, but now cannot.  Some are albums that I spent many hours finding and adding the artwork myself.  I am very frustrated.  I cannot find the time to manually install artwork for thousands of songs.
My work computer is Windows 8, so I really don't want to hear windows vs OSX argument.  My company won't switch to mac because you like it better, so I just need a solution to my issue.  iTunes it has always worked better for me on my work PC than my macBook, I dont know why, but I don't take two laptops with me when I travel so I have my iTunes library on the PC that has to come with me.  This is the first time an update has screwed things up for me.

Well my first guess was wrong. The line that failed is the one that writes out the image to disk. I've not revisited the code for that script for ages, but it seems I did add in an extra test for missing files a little while later, then forgot to upload the change. I can reproduce the error message if I deliberately rename a file to confuse iTunes so that seems the most likely reason for your problem with the script. I've uploaded a new build of CreateFolderArt which should work better.
See FindTracks for a tool to repair broken links. You should probably get that issue fixed first.
I know what SPSS stands for but that is all I know about it.

  • Why is my album art downloading to the wrong music?

When I am syncing my iPhone, I am getting an error (-54) at times. I am also seeing the wrong album art downloading with the incorrect music. Whenever I use a song for my alarm, I see music that I do not have checked to be on my phone showing up and it always has the wrong album art. Please advise. Thank you so much!

The only way I was able to get the album art correct was to hook my iPod up to my laptop and then go into iPod Preferences and check the box that says hide Album art. I then updated my iPod and all my album art was wiped off my iPod. The next step is to go back into preferences for the iPod and enable album art again and the next time I updated...BINGO, all my artwork was put back correctly. It took a little work but I'm happy with it!

  • ITunes album view not working and no album art?

    Hi all -
Bought a 64GB iPhone 5 and uploaded my music via my desktop - all seems to have run fine, except that album artwork isn't showing for many of them, even when I select the option "View artwork".
I've read on another thread that ID3 tags of 2.3 or lower are not supported, but find it hard to accept there's no compatibility here - so am presuming user error rather than Apple trying to force users to manually update all their albums (I have 57GB of music - don't want to update album art on everything!)
Also, I've just downloaded and installed iTunes on my laptop, and connected the iPhone to laptop. However, the album view options aren't working. All songs are simply listed by album name, but none of the column listing features work either (ie, sort by name, genre, etc).
I presumed iTunes had crashed, but restarting the laptop and the same happens. Am on latest software for iTunes and iOS 6.
One more curiosity - how do I download my music from the iPhone to the desktop? I had presumed it would do this automatically (ie, into the iTunes media folder) but so far nothing.
Or is it simply the case that iTunes is preparing to download all music into the desktop, hence why it's not working properly? Simply because there's no notice of anything happening.
Apologies for any newbie questions - found myself using the iPad quite a lot for apps, but never for music as it was only the 16GB version, so have been sold into joining the Apple walled garden. Would be nice to get these issues sorted out, though.

    Hi David
Yes, I found the importer now. I also fixed my problem, but with 'brute force':
For each of the folders not being indexed, including the ~/Library/Mail folder, I turned on Privacy in the Spotlight System Prefs and then turned it off again. This seems to have fixed things. I did this for some old document folders too and that also seems to have worked.
So far so good. thanks again. For now I'm marking this as solved.

  • How can the album-art, which is all in iTunes , suddenly only shows partially on the iPod classic 160 gb?

I'm user of iTunes for years and in possession of 2 iPod classics.
For both iPods I have a specific playlist created, which I sync with iTunes. Each of my nearly 50,000 tracks in iTunes comes with the right Album-art (all 500 x 500 pixels and 72 dpi) andeach track contains also the necessary meta data and is converted to 160 or 192 kbps  M4a. In Finder on my MacBook I can see that the M4a files all contain album-art, because the file icons show the album art for each file name! Also in the grid overview of iTunes you can see them all, no exception.
For years that went well. Now,  a week ago, I made a new playlist (16,000 tracks) for one of my iPod classics because I wanted a different content! The old playlist I discarded and synchronized the new one.  Now it appears that a large number of album-art on the iPod is not shown, nor in cover-flow nor during play-back. I then tried to get my new playlist updated by exported as XML and then imported into iTunes again. In that case all tracks from the list are checked for completeness against the library and after import it should be fine. Unfortunately, it is not the case. Still the album-art is not shown for all tracks/albums on the iPod.
I run iTunes (11.2.2 (3)) on a MacBook Pro at the end of 2009, with the latest OSX version (10.9.3) and with enough disk space and memory.
My iTunes library is on a NAS (Synodisk DS209J II plus) the iPods run on the latest sw version (1.1.2) and are both Apple formatted.
I wonder if this is an iPod error or something wrong with the library. I hope you will understand, that I do not want to lose all the metadata of the 50,000 tracks by rebuilding the library, especially things like: date added, number of times played, rating, comments!
I hope someone can provide me an acceptable solution.
    With regards, Sign-X

I'm a bit confused, but I assume you want to shuffle your playlist while you are playing it in iTunes. If this is so, you will actually have to start playing a song before the shuffle button appears, and it appears in the top center panel of your iTunes window. Yeah, I know...
