  • Album Artwork Database Corrupt  ・ run the chkdsk utility

when i connect my iPod, i get a pop up that says the iTunes Album Artwork database is corrupt and that I should run the Chkdsk Utility.
    What is the chkdisk utility?
    how can i run it?

thanks for the tip! i ran the chkdsk.exe program and it took about 5 minutes in all. after that, i reconnected the iPod and no problems.
    this actually solved 2 problems:
1 -the corrupt album artwork database is now fixed
2 -the unsolved error -48 message is gone and updating proceeds normally.
    thanks alot!

  • ITunes. exe - Corrupt file message run chkdsk..

What is a chkdsk utility? How do I get to it?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions, Darlene!
The chkdsk utility is a part of the Windows OS but that's getting ahead of things.
Right now you want to make a pot of tea and pay a visit to your new friend Da Gopha:

  • ITunes extracted album art file name oddity (Japanese characters)

I am on iTunes 10.6.3. After doing a clean install of Mountain Lion I have noticed that although the iTunes version has not changed some behavior is slightly different than when it was running under Snow Leopard.
Any time I drag album art from an album titled with Japanese characters out of the "Now Playing" pane in the lower left of the iTunes GUI the image file in Finder has been named with weird characters. I can successfully rename the file in Finder with the proper Japanese characters. Why is iTunes naming the image files incorrectly?
Here is an example of an album art image file both as it came from iTunes and after being renamed. The top one is the incorrectly titled file that came straight from iTunes.

    Try this...
btabz: My songs have artwork in iTunes, but it won't transfer to my iPod!
It is for a slightly different issue, but the instructions should work.
If those don't work, you may need to restore the iPod as the link says.

  • Firmware Failure Error & Run chkdsk Utility

Hi We have 2 ipod nanos and we kinda have the same 2 problems with each.....We go into itunes make a play list, the ipod is connected, and it tries to update a pop up box appears and tells us there is an error and to write the chkdsk utility. Then to try and fix this we are supposed to download the latest update but can't do that either because when we click on restore an error box pops up saying firmware disk error - how can this be fixed as we have 2 ipods unable to be used. We are using Windows XP & have broadband connection (if that is of use) We have read replies to this problem before but we can't fix it...

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I think are lost as to the structure of how Apple Discussions works.
Go back to where it says Discussions, and pick up:
Windows Compatible Technology's section, iPod, and post there.
This is the Mac OS X Mail & Address Book forum.
Someone here may still be able to answer your question, but it is usually best if you post in a section where people are known to have the same setup as the one you are having an issue with.

  • Getting errors about system files when running Disc Utility

I recently got a MacBook Pro and I'm trying to take good care of it too. I ran a Repair Disc Permissions on the Disc Utility and I got an error for two system files saying that they were modified and that it wont repair them. Can somebody help me fix this problem? Will I have to reinstall the OS?

    My errors were as follows:
    SUID file: "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement?ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent"
    SUID file "System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DesktopServicesPriv.framework/Versions/A/Reso urces/Locum"
So after looking at that list, I think I'm ok...

  • The file \ipod_Control\iTunes\iTunesDB is corrupt & unreadable run chkdsk

the file \ipod_Control\iTunes\iTunesDB is corrupt & unreadable run chkdsk utility.
iTunes recognizes the nano. it seams to be accepting songs, but when I drag and drop this is the message that appears. None of the songs I dragged and dropped are on the nano. The nano seems to be working fine otherwise.

  • IOS 8 Some album art lost after iOS upgrade 8 now running 8.0.2 still all music from iTunes

After iOS 8 update on iPhone 5C some album art lost - now running 8.0.2 still same issue- all music from iTunes Store.
I have reset the Phone - not sure what more I can do.

    You are not alone:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Album art, separate drive, can't update

I have searched the forums and have found many old posts concerning some of my issues. Nothing current, as far as I can tell
I am running (connected, not wireless) Front Row from my iBook in my den to my amplifier. It is streaming music from my Mac Pro. It works very well, music, playlists, movies, with the exception of the cover art. There is none. I have all the art on the host computer.
I have a Mac Pro holding all my music for iTunes. They are located:
    data drive>music>iTunes>iTunes Music.
I also moved the Library, xml, and Album Art files to:
Data Drive>Music>iTunes folder. I then deleted the original location files.
iTunes recreates the Album Art file, iTunes Library and iTunes xml file in the home music folder
On my iBook, from Applications, Front Row is listed as Version 1. I have tried several times to upgrade to the current version 2.1.6. I go through all the steps and it says the install was successful. However it always returns with version 1. I also tried version 2.1.3 and I was informed I did not need this update.
I have read that there is a bug in Front Row that will not allow cover art to be seen.
Any insight will be most helpful
    Thank you

The "version" of Front Row in your Applications folder will ALWAYS report as version "1.0". That is simply a launcher file but not the true application. The actual Front Row application is buried in your System folder. If you open Front Row and check the Settings, you can find the version you're using there.

  • ITunes (iMac) can't find album art

So about a month ago I finally took the plunge and switched from PC to Mac. I have an iMac, running Mavericks, and itunes 11.
I also have a Time Capsule, and when I moved my itunes library from the PC I put it there, both so I wouldn't clutter up my new hard drive and also to allow it to be accessed by other devices. I've had some trouble getting itunes to use that location as its default, especially after a reboot.
Itunes has lost a lot of the album art that the PC had. I moved everything from my PC, including the album art, which was in its own folder in the itunes library. And anyway, this is all stuff that should be accessible on the online database, since that's where it came from originally. I didn't scan in any jpgs or anything. When I go and look in the album art file folder it's all just folders inside folders, and I don't actually see any files.
So, what's the deal? Is it confused because these cds were inported by a PC? The songs play fine. If I put in a cd will it grab the metadata without my having to re-import the whole thing? Not keen on doing that.
This isn't a disaster or anything, it's just annoying. It's easier to scan my album list when the cover art shows than when half the albums show a gray box.

When you changed the directory, did you (or iTunes) move the actually music files? If you see little exclamation points and fail to be able to play the music in iTunes, this is probably your problem. You cannot update disconnected files.
You may also want to assure you are logged in to the iTunes store and that you can view the store? Maybe you have a firewall program like Zone Alarm blocking access?
Did you change anything else on your machine or install other software since the last time you were able to get album art that might be causing the problem?

  • Zen Mozaic 8GB, the same Album Art shows up on every f

My Zen Mozaic froze last Sunday but I brought it back to life using that wonderful reset button (or whatever it's called). It works as it should except for one thing - every single music file appears to belong to the same album. This might not have been an issue if it wasn't for the fact that I actually have more than one album on my player. Also, some of the tracks doesn't even belong to an album at all since I recorded them myself using Audacity. Thus, I am quite sure that something is wrong.
The background image when playing any file changes to this album image, and when I click the white button a few times to change to the playlist, the album image pops up again (as it normally should... If the song actually belonged to the album). The image used should normally only be present on one track though this one track, according to Creative Centrale, doesn't even have an album image. :smileyvery-happy:
I removed the song that naturally should have that album image, turned the player off and on again but the problem is still there. This never happened before the player froze. I attempted to bribe the player, but it didn't help either.
Does anyone know if there is a way to fix this?

  • Album Art folder - Moving

How do I change the location of the album art file/folder? It has created it's own folder in "my documents" and I woul dlike to move it to another folder. I have used teh setting to move the library but have not found an option for album art stored location.

Here are typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
Ideally your library would be in the layout on the right and stored either at <User's Music>\iTunes or the top level of a different drive, e.g. D:\iTunes, with all content inside the iTunes Media folder.
iTunes usually doesn't cope well if you move files around by hand so getting from where you are now to where you want to be might take a few steps. How easy it is also depends on whether you can afford to let iTunes copy every song you have into the correct location before deleting the originals. If not I can offer a script that can move files around instead of copying them. The first thing to establish is the current locations of your library files and your media folder. The script iTunesInfo can help reveal this if you're not sure.
I have a post on making a split library portable that describes how to restructure your library. If you let me know what things are where I can suggest a set of steps that will get your library set up right.

  • Copy album art prob

As I copy album cover art to recently imported album music, I am finding that not all tunes in the album have the full image.  On a pc I can copy and paste but I cannot seem to do this on the wife's Macbook Pro.  Ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

    Hello,
I am having a problem too, just in how to link the album art to files.
I play some songs, they fine, others not, wish i knew how to set the linking so I could manage the album art manually by linking to certain mp3 files. IE two or three songs come from the one art img.
With your problem however, it sounds like the pc media player has downloaded art for your songs, kindly put them somewhere for you to see when listening to your music (on CD[if so have a look at the folder settings in the tool options bit of WMP],
This understood, then when you play a copy of this file from another/different location, its not displayed?. Perhaps an album art manager is required too?
Or the folder file(another unknown 4 me] or the album art files are needed for the cd covers of the songs in the new folder[if unlike above WMP just reads the folder the music is in for the album art files of the cd covers for your mp3 tracks.
    wish i knew more
    anyways good luck

  • Album Art Prob

I have a Creative Zen Vision:M 60GB. I have suddenly got a problem putting album art for CDs onto my player. Never had a problem before. I would burn a CD onto my hard dri've using CDex. I would then play one of the tracks using Windows Media Player which would automatically pick up what album was playing and display the album art. Once the album art was picked up by WM Player, I would go back to the file, copy it and then paste it on to my player. At the moment, as?I play a track from the file through WM Player, it picks up the album art as normal but when I paste the file into my player, the player does not show album art. Any ideas?
