Album Art Finder Programs

I have used programs such as Cover art Finder and Tuneup and a few others. All of them seem to be imperfect and tend to do more damage to ones library than is necessary (wrong art, mislabled songs, even weird translations..) Tuneup was working well, but the whole "audio fingerprinting" and hence mislabled music was overwhelmingly bad.
Any suggestions from you all on what has worked for you? Yes, I do the google image thing alot, but i have a 35,000song library so it can be a little consuming.
Thanks guys...Happy NY too!

I have 40,000+ songs in my library. After trying numerous cover art finder programs, I gave up and decided to manually add the missing artwork to my albums. (The bogus WRONG additions that I had to delete and correct really drove me crazy!)
The latest version of itunes makes this job a bit less daunting...you can sort your library by albums and easily see which ones don't have cover artwork by using the list view with cover art showing in the left column. I did a few letters of the alphabet every day for a week or two and I'm happy to report that every song/album in my library now has the correct cover art associated with it.

  • The BEST album art fetching program?

    Hey guys,
I've been through a lot of album art fetching programs, and none seem to be top notch - FetchArt and Synergy come to mind.
I'm looking for something that can handle my 18,200 song library, that's maybe smart enough to search and apply art by album rather than individual songs (it seems more logical to search and apply art for 1876 albums vs. 18,200 songs), and might be able to do the job overnight, accurately.
Does anyone know of anything close? Am I dreaming?
    Thank you!
    Alec

    Hi Alec
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
I've found Clutter very useful for getting artwork. But then again, I usually get the artwork when I'm importing the album, not a long time afterwards.

  • Itunes Album Cover Finder Programs

    Hello,
I am wondering if anybody has used coverflow(http://www.steelskies.com/coverflow/HomePage.html) and if it can be used on the "video" Ipod??? Will this program be intergrated in the next version of Itunes??? What do you think of "Album Cover Finder." I want to have covers for all my CDs I loaded on my computer, but I don't want to spend $9.00 on a program that is hard to use or a pain. Anybody try it out?
    Ozzie

I use iTunes Catalog, which is much more than a cover finder. It will import covers into iTunes. Album covers are also transferred to your iPod if you request iTunes to do so.

anyone used this new function on the new itunes 7 and worked form them?

    Worked fine for me
I'm incredibly anal when it comes to my iTunes library anyway, and most of my music had artwork from the albumart widget, but now I can get rid of that for more of the stuff I import!
This version of iTunes is by far the greatest jukebox software I have ever used... Period.

  • BEST Album Art Downloader

Can someone please recommend the BEST FREE album art download program for PC running XP Pro? If you've only tried one, please don't respond - how will you know it's the best if you never tried any others?
I tried the one at this link:
    http://louhi.kempele.fi/~skyostil/projects/albumart/
and it gets the art fine, but doesn't automagically import it into iTunes. Seems like iTunes requires that the art be embedded in the music files somehow. This just places the art in the music folder, then you have to drag it into iTunes. Kind of a pain.
    Thanks.

  • 1. Album art didn't transfer 2. Audiobooks

    Two issues:
    1. When I converted my music library fr Windows Media to iTunes, I've since found that most of the original album art did not transfer and is gone. Suggestions for (easily) finding and loading art for a couple of hundred albums?
    2. I've bought a number of audio books on iTunes. However, in my Library (& on my iPod), they're just part of my overall list of albums. Isn't there a way to have them load into onto my HD and also into my iPod as a discrete group, separate from my music files?
Fyi, I'm using the version of iTunes which immediately preceded ver 6.
    Thx,
    micknyc

Here is how I did it.
    1. Open iTunes and set the size of the window to half of your display
    2. Open your browser of choice, make its size the other half of your display
    3. Highlight all songs on the album in iTunes(click first song, SHIFT-Click last song)
    4. Right click in the selected area, select "Get Info", its the first option
    5. Go to your browser after the iTunes info window opens and Google image search for your album art, find a decent size thats not large in file size (I found around 500x500 pixels work well but that may be overkill).
    6. Click on the image and while holding the mouse button, drag it over to the square in the iTunes "More Info" box that opened.
    7. Click OK
    8. Sync music
Hope that helps. Its quick and easy once you do it a time or two and so far has worked very well for me.

  • Can't Find Album Art (Music)

Last month, My Itunes can get album art from the itunes automatically when i click "Get Album art" or something like that.
But last week, I change the my music directory on windows(i really dont know if this is the cause of the problem) and now i cant get any album art. I tried searching but i cant seem to find the answer so i post my problem here.
I dont want to manually find an album art in Amazon or in any music store and put it there.
Cant anyone help me? by the way, im usign the latest version of itunes.
    Thanks

When you changed the directory, did you (or iTunes) move the actually music files? If you see little exclamation points and fail to be able to play the music in iTunes, this is probably your problem. You cannot update disconnected files.
You may also want to assure you are logged in to the iTunes store and that you can view the store? Maybe you have a firewall program like Zone Alarm blocking access?
Did you change anything else on your machine or install other software since the last time you were able to get album art that might be causing the problem?

  • ITunes 10.0.7.21 shows a white box instead of artwork for most of my albums.  Many of these are albums I purchased on itunes.  Also when I hit get album art it deleted the artwork it already had form many albums and says it cant find it.

    OS is Windows 7
I updated iTunes the other day and I decided to run "get album art" and instead of finding artwork, it made some of the artwork I already had show up as white squares, or disapear entirely.  The ones that are white squares show up under the get info, but not in itunes.  I did click in view for show al artwork, no luck.  Many of these albums I bought from iTunes.  The ones that the artwork was deleted some albums I can buy on iTunes, but already owned, and iTunes found the artwork before, but now cannot.  Some are albums that I spent many hours finding and adding the artwork myself.  I am very frustrated.  I cannot find the time to manually install artwork for thousands of songs.
My work computer is Windows 8, so I really don't want to hear windows vs OSX argument.  My company won't switch to mac because you like it better, so I just need a solution to my issue.  iTunes it has always worked better for me on my work PC than my macBook, I dont know why, but I don't take two laptops with me when I travel so I have my iTunes library on the PC that has to come with me.  This is the first time an update has screwed things up for me.

Well my first guess was wrong. The line that failed is the one that writes out the image to disk. I've not revisited the code for that script for ages, but it seems I did add in an extra test for missing files a little while later, then forgot to upload the change. I can reproduce the error message if I deliberately rename a file to confuse iTunes so that seems the most likely reason for your problem with the script. I've uploaded a new build of CreateFolderArt which should work better.
See FindTracks for a tool to repair broken links. You should probably get that issue fixed first.
I know what SPSS stands for but that is all I know about it.

  • I transfered videos from iPod to iTunes on Windows 7 PC but album art won't show up, even when I choose to find album art

I just installed iTunes 64 bit on my PC with Windows 7. I transfered my movies from my iPod Classic but no album art on any of them. I even try to find album art but nothing. I've downlaoded a couple of music albums onto same PC that I downloaded previously on iPad and they have art but not the videos I just transferred from iPod. I also can't play any of them on PC. I keep getting the no Quicktime message even though I downloaded QT. Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem, except I dont have itunes match enabled.
I synced my ipad and unchecked all my albums to remove them. Then I re-synced with the albums selected. They went back on WITH the artwork under 'artists' but then for some reason the next time I sync, some of the artwork under 'artists' is gone leaving only a music note for the cover.
It also has nothing to do with the cloud backup as I have experienced this with both backing up to the cloud and to my mac.
    strange.......

  • Album art not shown in finder

Embedded album art in audio files is not shown in finder since I upgraded to ML (worked fine in SL).
Other peaple report a solution of the problem with elimination of Voice Memos. But in my case this is not evident because I do not have Voice Memos.
Does somebody know the solution of the problem?

After hours struggling with this issue I finally found a solution (my setup is iTunes 10.7, OSX 10.8.3):
(But my workaround is only for people who know how to handle iTunes libraries!!! And backup first!!)
Open a new user account on your mac.
Generate a new iTunes library called 'itunes', no other name!
Import some files with embedded album art.
Drag such a file back to desktop and you should see the icon of album art.
Everything is like it should be.
Now copy this new itunes library to your user account of origin.
But first rename your old iTunes library different from 'itunes' e.g. 'itunesorigin'
Open the new iTunes and drag one file to desktop, now miraculosly all audiofiles in all of your itunes libraries should show up album art IN FINDER including preview and quicklook.
But this state is not stable. As soon as you open the old 'itunesorigin' the problem starts up again.
    So, the next steps are:
Open the new iTunes and in preferences select the media folder of 'itunesorigin'. OK, say no to 'collate data'. Close iTunes.
Now copy and replace from 'itunesorigin' to the new iTunes the following files:
    iTunes Library Extras.itdb
    iTunes Library Genius.itdb
    iTunes Library.itl
    iTunes Library.xml
Open the new iTunes and it should look like the old 'iTunesorigin' with all your playlists etc..
    Close again.
Move the media folder from 'iTunesorigin to the new iTunes folder (replace).
Open new iTunes and select in preferences the new location of the media folder.
Now you should have the file iTunes Music Library.xml instead of iTunes Library.xml.
(iTunes Music Library.xml is the default if you have multiple libraries)
Done! For me its stable and I am happy. Your iTunes folder should look like this picture:

  • Finder Not Showing Album Art

    hey -
i'm running a 2011 macbook pro -- i did a software update today (a lot of updates as Lion was recently released), but i HAVE NOT updated to Lion yet (a bit nervous about the bugs and slower performance).
my computer no longer shows the album art in the FINDER. the embedded artwork is fine, the id3 tags are fine... when i open the files in itunes the artwork shows, but just not in finder... i remember this exact problem when itunes 9 was around (fixed by itunes 10 update)... anyone else having this issue??

First try updating your Video card/drivers.
Also try updating your directX from microsoft here

  • ITunes (iMac) can't find album art

So about a month ago I finally took the plunge and switched from PC to Mac. I have an iMac, running Mavericks, and itunes 11.
I also have a Time Capsule, and when I moved my itunes library from the PC I put it there, both so I wouldn't clutter up my new hard drive and also to allow it to be accessed by other devices. I've had some trouble getting itunes to use that location as its default, especially after a reboot.
Itunes has lost a lot of the album art that the PC had. I moved everything from my PC, including the album art, which was in its own folder in the itunes library. And anyway, this is all stuff that should be accessible on the online database, since that's where it came from originally. I didn't scan in any jpgs or anything. When I go and look in the album art file folder it's all just folders inside folders, and I don't actually see any files.
So, what's the deal? Is it confused because these cds were inported by a PC? The songs play fine. If I put in a cd will it grab the metadata without my having to re-import the whole thing? Not keen on doing that.
This isn't a disaster or anything, it's just annoying. It's easier to scan my album list when the cover art shows than when half the albums show a gray box.

  • Vanishing album art in finder

I store my LP > mp3 music file conversions in the music folder for backing up to DVD storage discs later on. All have the scanned original LP album cover as album art and I never had any problems before this -  now suddenly every single mp3 file has lost its art, replaced by the black music note. It doesn't seem to be gone, however, because when imported back into iTunes it reappears, but when recopied back to a finder-folder it disappears once again. This seems to be a finder problem, I guess, so I did all the traditional things: trashing finder preferences, resetting p-ram, preferences, running through applejack etc. etc. etc. Nothing matters. No album art in finder. Is there any kind of solution or work around? Much appreciated.

I think I was encountering the same issue.
I solved it installing Itunes 10.5.1(42), even if I'm not using Itunes at all.
Albumarts will now appear in every folder from the finder.
I closed my topic because I solved it :
