  • Album Art goes dark

When downloading songs from itunes, the first initial synch would be successful and would display the album art in both cover flow and album view. However after the second synch, the album art no longer shows up and is reduced to a black square in the album view and does not even have a representative square in cover flow..I've tried restoring the touch, which btw, takes 2 hours and the result is a brief restoration of album art, but then others would go dark and subsequent purchases from itunes are still plagued with the same problem. Obviously, purchases from itunes have the album art included already..so it's not an issue with importation of album art. Is this a known issue with the version of OSX on the touch? I'm at a loss on what to do..any suggestions? Thanks.

I have been having the same issue. When the convert higher bitrate songs box is checked, no album art. Not sure exactly what version it started happening with, but 10.6 sounds right. Unfortunately spent a lot of unnecessary time restoring my iPhone 4S, deleted & reinstalled iTunes before I found this thread.
Hopefullly a fix comes soon. As a music enthusiast, I like to have the artwork on my iPhone, and I loved the ability to fit more music on it by converting to lower bitrate

  • Album Art Going Haywire

Something very strange is happening lately. In iTunes, my album art shows up perfectly for everything. When I sync my phone, it seems to choose one cover at random and apply that cover to multiple other covers at random.
Even more strange, I have had instances where the artwork is correct for certain albums that are already on my iPhone but when I add new albums and sync, it changes the album artwork for albums that already had the correct artwork to something else.
It's incredibly frustrating. I've tried taking all my music off of the iPhone, re-syncing and then adding music back and it still randomly puts the wrong artwork on certain albums.
I've seen other people having similar issues but I don't see a clear cut solution here.
    Any advice?

I have a MobileMe account and have shared many MobileMe Galleries.  MobileMe Galleries are going away in June.  How can I share a photo album with others using iCloud?

The new ios version of iPhoto allows sharing.  Here's a blurb from Apple's web site:
There’s the old way of creating photo galleries, then there’s the iPhoto way. Select a group of photos and iPhoto automatically flows them into a beautiful journal that’s fun to personalize and share online. Touch a photo to make it bigger or smaller. Or drag it to a different spot on the screen. iPhoto adjusts the page around whatever you’re doing, so your journal always looks great. You can even add captions, maps, dates, and weather — giving family and friends the big picture at a glance.
    More things you can do:
With iPhoto, there’s more than one way to share a photo. Post pictures directly to Facebook, Flickr, or Twitter. Play an impromptu slideshow on your iPad or iPhone. Or stream photos to your HDTV to give your big moments room to shine.
I have not used ios version of iPhoto to share "journals" and I'm not sure this is part of iCloud or not.  You'll have to do a google search on "ios iphoto" and read up of this journal thing.  As far as I know, this is the only way of sharing photos.  I'm not sure whether other friends use a browser to view these journals or whether they need something special.  Any way - search around to find answers.

  • I am trying to import my cd's onto itunes on a new macbook pro. i can import the cd fine but can not get track names or album art work. after going into advanced it is just coming up with "CDDB information not available"

Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

  • Album Art Madness! What's Going On? Thumnails Problems

    1) I added album at to all of my tracks in my 'music folder' using itunes
    2) Used Doug's AppleScrips for Itunes to embed the artwork
    3) The icon on my music files changed from the itunes default grey background with a music note to display the album art when browsing my music files in finder
    4) I copied my music folder with embedded artwork to my external HD as a backup
Every piece of software i've tried - itunes, traktor pro, songbird, vlc, media monkey (bootcamp), tag&rename (bootcamp) shows that the album art is with the file.
    Yet...
    1) If I copy tracks from my music folder to another location such as the desktop the file icon no longer dispays the album art on the icon - it is replaced by the grey itunes icon with the musical note.
    2) If I rename tracks in my music folder the file icon no longer dispays the album art on the icon - it is replaced by the grey itunes icon with the musical note.
    3) The backup I made on external HD no longer displays the embedded album art in the file icon
Despite this the music file seems to have the artwork attached to it when launched in the mentioned music software.
I have recently upgraded from leopard to snow leopard + the latest Itunes. Could it be a problem with preview? I really don't know what's going on, if my art really is embedded or what to do.
    Hope You Can Help!

  • My album art's going insane!

Everytime i update my ipod... some of the album art end up in the wrong songs, wrong artistes or is just static when i use my ipod! On the computer it looks normal but when i listen to songs i see the wrong album arts
I have to keep re-editing the album art...
    HELP!

Thanks for the answers guys... as for the wiping out the Ipod clean suggestion, it's a little tedious and not to mention a little crazy too. Reason being I get this problem everytime I load new songs and their album arts so wouldn't that mean i have to keep wiping out my Ipod? I'll give the option thingy a shot and i hope it'll work... coz i'm sick of re-editing the Ipod everytime my new songs and their album art jumbles up everything! Thanks again guys!

  • Missing album art on player...still there in itunes

After synching my ipod nano last night, some of the artwork that was there is now completely blank (just a black square...not even the musical note default). However, the art is still displayed on my PC on itunes. Anyone ever seen this? I will try to re-synch but was just curious if this was a known issue. Seems to be with both downloaded as well as manually added artwork...no rhyme or reason to it.

I've seen that. Usually it goes away if I reset the iPod. Your know, the thing with holding down the center button. Try that, first.
Sometimes, the iPod's Artwork cache does get corrupted when making frequent changes. In the iPod's Music preferences tab in iTunes, remove the check beside "Display album artwork on your iPod" and select Apply.
Once the iPod has finished syncing, recheck it and hit Apply again. iTunes should recreate the artwork cache and re-sync it to your iPod.

  • Syncing Issues: album art, cut-off songs

I have a 16GB iPod Touch that I've been syncing with my Windows Vista PC, seemingly without complications. It has only recently come to my attention that somewhere between my computer's library and my library on my iPod, something is messing up at random times. Full songs will become half-songs, 30-second songs, on the iPod. They are not damaged on my PC, but when they get uploaded to the iPod, they get messed up. If I re-upload them, sometimes the problem goes away, sometimes it cuts in a different spot. This is immensely frustrating, as I do not know how to fix it or what is causing it to begin with.
More recently I have discovered that all the work I have done organizing my library and getting everything to have album covers is wasted when I try to put these albums on my Touch. The album covers entirely disappear, and I have to copy and paste them in, which takes about five minutes per album (slow write speed?). Seems pretty lame to have a product focused on the ability to flip through albums visually, and then have the album art not automatically download with my music.
    Any help?

I finally have the fix for this issue after a month of extensive debugging, experimentation, etc. on Windows Vista. I've reinstalled my whole **** computer twice, and Apple's phone support is a (bad) joke. They should just send me the script they use so I can read it myself.
First off, let's establish the symptoms of this problem:
    * Data sync'ed to my iPod Touch would corrupt at random points. Sometimes songs would go through intact. Other times they would "glitch" partway through and the device would advance to the next song. Video files of a sufficient size -- like movies and T.V. episodes -- ALWAYS glitch at some point, which crashes the video playback and brings the device back to the video menu.
    * Periodically, the iPod Touch would corrupt completely, which required a total firmware restoration. Rarely, these firmware restorations would also fail.
Now for the solution. It's a two-part deal:
    1) Stop "Windows Search." It's not the major cause of sync problems, but it is a contributor, which is unsurprising given the amount of resources it hogs. Open the "Services" control panel item (Control Panel->System and Maintenance->Administrative Tools->Services, or just type "services.msc" into the "search" box on the Start Menu) and double-click "Windows Search." Click "stop" and set the startup type to "disabled," then click "OK."
    2) This next part is going to be a bitter pill to swallow. When Microsoft launched Vista, it created a new "security feature" called PatchGuard which disallows direct kernel access to third-party applications. Antivirus vendors like McAfee, Symantec, Avast, etc. all have to use a kernel API rather than direct kernel access. However, Microsoft's own antivirus product -- Windows Live OneCare -- has complete access to the kernel without an API.
This appears to have created a weird situation with iTunes. I have reinstalled my system twice, both with 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Vista, and it seems that merely having a third-party antivirus product installed is sufficient to cause this problem. I've tried Avast, McAfee, Symantec and TrendMicro's products. The problem will not go away even if you turn off scanning, put in exceptions, etc. With Avast, I even terminated all of its processes and stopped its services. No dice. Just having a third-party antivirus product installed -- EVEN IF IT IS NOT RUNNING -- will cause this issue.
However, the second you UNINSTALL your third-party antivirus software, the problem goes away -- every time. I've sync'ed movies over and over again to test this, and it's definitely the primary source of the problem.
Obviously, running without antivirus software in this day and age is unacceptable, but there is one product that's free from this problem; in fact, it's the only product that still has direct kernel access. I'm running Windows Live OneCare on a 90-day trial right now, and after running more tests, I've confirmed my hypothesis. Any antivirus product with direct kernel access is fine. The problem is that Windows Live OneCare is the ONLY antivirus product right now with direct kernel access.
If you're running Windows Vista 32-bit, there may possibly be a second antivirus option. My Windows Vista-based gaming laptop uses Computer Associates' AV product, and it's never had a problem syncing with my iPod. I haven't really tested other products on it, though, so your mileage may vary. I can't say for certain that it's a safe bet.
So there you have it: one month of my nights and weekends down the toilet to fix an issue Apple and Microsoft should be handling. I feel like I've paid $500 for the privilege of being an unpaid Apple Q.A. tester. At this point, they should pay ME for the time I've wasted on this issue.

  • Album Art Bugs?

I recently purchased a 5th Generation iPod, my 5th iPod, my previous one was an iPod Photo. I am experiencing a problem with album art. If i select an album, the most recent was Madonna's new album. I've added the album art in the same fashion I have since my 3rd iPod, and It shows up perfectly in iTunes. Howerver when playing on the iPod, It will start by showing Madonna's album art, and then with switch to an 'Nsync album cover.
This problem is not just with Madonna's album, It is now happening with EVERY song! It doesn't happen right away, however after a few songs of a playlist or album, there is Nsync's album cover again!
    Any suggestions?

Yes there is a major bug here! I cant believe there isn't more people than this complaining about it?
    I have a 5th Generation video iPod. running on a G4 Mac.
My problem is similar but involves random podcast images/album art taking over my pre existing song album art and not all of the songs from an album either just some of them?
This really *****! and I don't think that this is going to be fixed with anything other than an iPod update.
I have decided to not sync my ipod until this is fixed incase it screws with thousands of my songs and is not reversible other than manually re entering album art.
I too would like to complain and get this new update fast tracked to fix it.
    Where do I do that?

  • Album art and etc.

how do you put album art on the ipod video? i put songs on it from my cds but i don't know how to add the album art to it

I found the easiest way at least for me, was to go to Amazon and search under popular music.
Then just type in the album/artist you are looking for.
Once that shows up, click the thumbnail and it should open in a new window. (I do this cuz sometimes if the CD is on sale it'll have a little bubble on the bottom of the pic that says 20% off or something. When you enlarge the image, the sale bubble goes away.)
Right click and save picture to wherever it saves on your comp.
Then when your in iTunes, right click on your song(s) and hit get info.
Find the artwork tab, click it and hit the "ADD" button.
Then find wherever you save your pix to and hit open.
Then hit "OK" on the info window form your song.
After that the cover art will show up in the bottom left corner of iTunes. Hope this helps

  • New Album Art View slow and stutters.

I have a 128MB video card and 1GB of Ram running about 3.0Ghz
But I still get a problem when using the new album art browser view on iTunes. It's really slow and stutters. I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or could give me a tip in fixing it.

I enabled 'Album Views' and the first 5 seconds or so of most songs are garbled (maybe while the image is loading?). I turn off the view album and the garbling goes away. Having the album artwork available is not as important as having songs that don't stutter or are garbled.

  • Flashing Album Art on Desktop

I have just encountered a perplexing problem. In another application (PhotoStudio) today I was examining various keyboard shortcuts. iTunes was open. Apparently, one of those shortcuts enables an iTunes feature that searches for the current track and floats any associated album artwork on the desktop. It goes away only when iTunes has been quit.
But even when it's not open, the desktop (Finder?) continues to look for artwork. The desktop area where the artwork would be places flashes very briefly -- maybe .25 second -- every 5 seconds.
    Any suggestions?

Thank you for your response, but the issue is not so simple. Album art is embeded for sure. I've edited all the tags properly. I do know smth about it, believe me)) And the album art IS displayed, BUT only if I open Music+Videos or Nokia Music apps and within these apps, not on the desktop. But I want the album art to be displayed ALSO on the desktop (+lock screen, if possible) while music is playing in backgroud mode. It is just the issue of design, and I wonder if I could somehow contact developers to fix this. I think, this would only popularize Windows Phone and would make the desktop more bright and dinamic.
To make it clear I attach two screenshots.
You can see the same track playing. Album art is displayed in Music+Videos app
BUT it is not displayed on the desktop (only artist name on the grey backgroud; I've circled it red)
So I want album art to be displayed on the desktop TOO. Is it clear now?
    Thanks in advance

  • Album art fails to show after 1st track

    ipod classic 80G fw 1.0.3
The album art shows properly in CoverFlow
When I start playing from coverflow, it shows the proper album art in the first song I play, but if I go the next song, it shows the "music notes" placeholder like there is no art in the file.
Now for the kicker: if I press the center click from coverflow to show the track list, then start playing the album on track #2, then it shows the artwork, but if I move on to the next track, it fails to show the artwork again.
Basically it acts like it can't find artwork when moving from one song to the next.
All my tracks have album art embedded into them (I checked with Mp3Tag. Art size varies from about 100x100 all the way to 500x500

I figured it out. Thanks to going click happy on the interface. Click on Advanced, then Get Album Artwork". It will then tell you to login and a warning that the song info will get sent to Apple. I've been trying to move my songs over to this thing on and off for months. I really think Android is the way to go as forcing you to convert your songs to a format that takes your rights to play a song away is rediculous. No ringtone using my own songs... seriously? My ancient Blackberry had that option with no special software necessary, you just put your music in a folder and let there be sound! I'm not upgrading to the new iPhone.

  • 70% of all album art disappeared??

You gotta be kidding me! I recently had to get a new hard drive. But I had to make a copy of my iTunes file folder & drop it back into the iTunes library. This is the only thing I can think of that may have wiped away the album art but only about 30% were gone. So I'm trying to figure out what happened & is there anyway to add the art back a little faster than going album by album adding the art back?

i know that you can select all in itunes and then choose "get album artwork"
it got all my album artwork for me...
