Album art in playlists in ITunes 10

My computer runs Windowa Vista and I recently upgraded to ITunes 10. I was able to get all the artwork to show up in the main list panel by clicking "View" "Always Show Artwork." However, the album art doesn't show when I'm viewing my playlists. It's still there, shows up in the main view and when I click "Get info" it's in the artwork tab. Is there any way to fix this?

Yeah, that one fooled me too! Select a playlist then under 'View' choose Album List. You should now have the option to always show artwork available.

How do you download album art not available in iTunes store.
I could copy and paste in the older version but not since the latest update
    I'm using windows
    Thanks Mark pianoman

I, too, relied on the name of the iTunes library being displayed on the top header bar of the iTunes window. I have 2 iTunes libraries that I go back and forth on all the time, and now I really have to look at the contents to figure out which library I'm in at any given moment.  What a pain!!  And what a stupid move to diminish functionality, Apple.  You folks have been doing this more all the time lately -- taking away perfected functionality -- and either deleting it or changing it just for the sake of a new look.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!  Please!
A good example of that is the dim grey text in all too much Apple everything these days.  Black is beautiful, please!  And especially useful in reading!!  And, apparently, enough people thought so, too, since I see black text is back in iTunes 11.  It went grey, and you heard from enough people that that was something no one should have changed.  Well, as the Gipper said: Here you go again!  Bring back the Library Name.  You've got plenty of room; you don't need to put it in another vertical space -- just put in in line with the other stuff you've got there.  Put it left of the "Search Library."  That would be fine.  But, just do it!

  • Is there a way to get custom JPEG album art to "stick" in iTunes 11.1.4?

Is there any way to get custom jpeg album art to stick in iTunes 11.1.4?

You can Right-Click too to bring up the Get Info dialog box. If you go to the artwork tab, (the last tab) then you can click the add button, and a standard Mac dialog box opens and you can navigate to the jpg file of your choice in a normal Mac fashion.

  • Tracks often displaying incorrect album art in playlist and podcast modes

Strange one this, and not at all consistent.
I'm often noticing that the album art for another unrelated album is being displayed when I am playing music from a playlist or playing a podcast.
Any ideas how to stop my iPod Touch doing this, and to display the correct artwork?

I too have the exact same problem, and pretty often too. It's really a pain when I've taken the time to find almost all of the correct artwork for all 18,000+ songs (92+ GB) in my iTunes library, and yet it won't be displayed correctly on my iPhone. I've tried countless reset's, restore's, starting fresh with a new library, etc. Nothing I can think of works. Does anyone have a successful solution? I sometimes get an error when trying to update my iPhone 3GS with the number (-6999) at the end of it. I'm wondering if there's any correlation there...

  • How to transfer existing Album Art to NEW Computer/iTunes?

Hi guys, I will try to make this simple. I'm going from an iMac to a new macbook. I had hopes of creating a complete clone of my existing itunes library into the new computer...but it seems harder than I expected. Moving the music itself is not a problem. I my "iTunes folder" has always been a seperate folder on an external hard drive. Moving this music from this folder to a new itunes is not hard at all, but in the process I'm losing all info like play count, playlists, and *most importantly, the Album Art that I've spent hours and hours adding to the files in iTunes.* (only a handful of music has transferred with its art, and those were all added previously, not by me, likely not through itunes.
Losing playcounts and playlists I will be able to live with, but I'm hellbent on clean transferring the album art I've manually collected in my previous version of iTunes... please help me figure this out... if you have any questions about my set up just ask
    Thank you in advance.

Chris, than you for responding. Let me try to clarify...
My previous "iTunes folder" has always been a folder on an external drive. So when I dropped music into iTunes, it then copies directly to "E:/External Drive/TOTALMUSIC". That's the source/itunes database. So in that folder, as far as I know, there is all my music, and then it gets broken down into "Artists" and then "Albums".
Upon copying this old music into itunes on my new computer, the music transfers fine, but most music loses the Album Art that it shows on my previous computer, while some artwork does actually stay.
Perhaps I need to go into a seperate file on my firt computers actual iTunes folders (not the external database) and copy something from in there and paste that into iTunes folders in the new computer?
To summarize, the music saves to a folder outside of itunes, and I've transferred that music across just fine, but somewhere in the mix I lost a lot of info that I think should be somehow attached to the files. I'm wondering if this information is actually saved seperate from the music files or something? why wouldn't the changes I've made to the artwork through iTunes reflect to the backed up music in its source on the external?
    Frustrating!
    Thanks again...

  • Album art displays very slowly; iTunes library file is corrupted?

Since I have updated to the latest version of Leopard, my album art in the iTunes music folder displays at a snail's pace, where before it was fast as lightning. It appears my iTunes Library file is corrupted, because when I created a new iTunes library file, all my art work on my tracks displayed very fast, no slowdown at all. Also when I logged in as a different user, same thing. No problems with my album art being displayed. Is there a way of fixing a corrupted iTunes library file? I have a lot of music, videos and TV shows, all neatly arranged in various playlists I created. Just to do it over again would take me weeks. Also since I've been backing my internal drive using Time Machine, can I go back and retrieve my iTunes library file before it became corrupted? Thank you for any help you can give me.

You should be able to retieve your pre-corrupted library file from TM, provided the corruption didn't happen to far back.

  • IPod Album art different/incorrect then iTunes

I have an iPod 5G & the album art is displaying different album art for some of the songs then iTunes has. I have tried
    1. restoring the software on the iPod.
    2. removing & synching my entire selected playlist library to my iPod.
If I find a song that displays the wrong album art on the iPod then the correct album art within iTunes - I unselect the song in iTunes, sync my iPod, recheck the song in iTunes, & then synch this sometimes fixed the song(s).
Is anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions of how to fix them ALL?
    Thank you!
    Peace~
    J

If your iPod is set to update automatically then try this:
    iTunes 6
    1. Connect your iPod
    2. Disable "Show Album art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes. (Disconnecting and then reconnecting your iPod will do the trick)
    4. Re-enable "Show Album Art" in iTunes>Edit>Preferences>iPod.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.
    iTunes 7
If your iPod is set to update automatically then try this:
    1. Connect your iPod
    2. Disable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes.
    4. Re-enable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.

  • Pulling album art from PC to itunes

is there a manual way (or even better automatic) of pulling the album artwork from my PC music library files to itunes? after having converted my entire PC music library, I am lacking most album art covers...i do have an itunes account but it did not update many covers either...help appreciated.

Yes, there's a manual way. Select the whole album in your iTunes library. Make sure the artwork box is visible (Ctrl-G) in the lower left corner. Drag a JPEG from somewhere else on your PC or from a website over to the artwork box. ITunes will apply that artwork to every file selected. To save file space, I think if you apply it only to the first track it will still show up for all tracks of the album. This way every file won't have the JPEG embedded; only the first file will.
I've read in Discussions about third-party utilities that automates this process, but I don't remember any names, and it is bound to make the same kind of mismatching mistakes that iTunes' built-in feature makes.

  • Lost album art when upgraded to itunes 6.0.4

I just upgraded to Itunes 6.0.4 and now all of my album art is gone. Anybody else have this happen? Any ideas about what to do?
      Mac OS X (10.4.5)

If they were MP3's, the artwork should show up if the ID3 tag was version 2 or higher.
MP3 ID3 Tags: What Are They? tells you the very basics of the ID3 tags.
You can add artwork to songs with ID3 tag 1 or 1.1, but I've no idea where iTunes stores that picture.
    Sorry, no hints available.

  • Album art not transfering from iTunes to iPod

Manually managing my ipod. When copying songs over to the iPod, only about half of the album art that is in my iTunes shows up on the iPod. I deleted all of the music from my 160 and copied it over again to see if it would fix the problem but nothing changed. Some album art comes over, some does not.

Are you auto-syncing the iPod? If so, when you add artwork to songs in your library the songs should be replaced by iTunes on your next sync. If not, you can force a new copy on your iPod by (a) set your iPod to sync only checked items, (b) un-checking the problem items, (c) re-sync your iPod, (d) re-check the problem items, and (e) re-sync again. But this process should not be necessary if you're on auto-sync -- any tag changes should automatically trigger a replacement of the updated song on your iPod.
If you're manually managing your iPod, if you update songs in your library the updates will not automatically transfer to your iPod. To do that, you should delete the songs from your iPod which have been updated with artwork in iTunes, then add the updated copies from iTunes back to your iPod.

  • Album art is showing in itunes but not on my ipod

I have a new 60GB ipod video and am having a problem with album artwork. It shows in all the right windows in itunes but not on the ipod itself.
The problem is affecting random songs (singles and odd album tracks) and is not as a result of any software updates.
I have tried unchecking and rechecking the 'display album art' option in preferences, deleting and reinserting the covers and even deleting and reimporting the affected songs from scratch. So far nothing has worked and I don't know what else to do!
    Any suggestions?
Apple iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   ipod 60GB with video

Thanks but still no luck I'm afraid.
To update: I have been using itunes 6 from the outset and have always manually updated the ipod - it has never even been switched to automatic as I changed this at the start (advice from a friend). File formats for the affected tracks are all either AIFF or Apple Lossless - same as all the unaffected tracks.
The even stranger thing is that artwork for some albums, where all the tracks were imported manually at the same time, shows for some tracks on the ipod and not others. The artwork does, however, show for all of the tracks on the ipod when viewed through itunes!

  • Album Art not displaying in iTunes

I have several mp3s where the album art does not display in iTunes, it does, however, display when I use other software such as MediaMonkey or foobar2000.  The album artowork is stored in the tag.  I've tried retagging them within iTunes, but it doesn't always work and is a time consuming process.  I've also tried removing the ID3v1 tag portion from the file and leave just the ID3v2.3 tag, but no success either.  Any thoughts?

It only happens wih some files, and I can't seem to find out what the correlation is.
If I take a series of mp3s where the album art cannot be displayed in iTunes but can in MediaMonkey or, extract the album art from the the tag through MediaMonkey (iTunes artwork fetching usually gives me poor results), and then assign the album art through iTunes, yes the album art does appear to be saved and displayed through iTunes.  But that's a process.
Additionally, if I reassign the artwork in MediaMonkey (not readding it, just reapplying the assignment to all selected items) the artwork will show up in iTunes.
I'm going to play around with Mp3Tag and see if that yields anything.

  • Is it possible to associate album art to playlist and not the album?

I've created some US versions of Beatle albums with a playlist.  Is it possible to assign US album artwork to the playlist while not affecting the UK album art associated with the song?

    No.

  • Unable to download album art present in the iTunes music store

I'm having a rather odd issue after moving my iTunes music folder to a new partition. It manifests itself as the inability to download artwork for certain albums that are available for purchase in the iTunes store, even though a short time ago the same covers were easily downloadable.
I'm 90% sure that this isn't an issue with the file tags, as these seem to mirror those present on the music store.
    Any solution would be welcomed.
    I'm using iTunes version 7.3.2.6

Are you saying that you can download album art for some albums in the iTunes store but not others?
If there was some general problem with the way you have iTunes set up or your connection, I would have expected you to have a problem with all album art. My first thought is that a problem with the tags seems most likely. The artist name and album name must be exactly right, other fields don't seem to matter. Have you checked for things like extraineous spaces?
iTunes album art is stored in the Album Artwork folder which is in your iTunes folder.
