Album art inconsistant with iPod?

I recently updated my album art for the obvious reasons, and it all went fine, until I looked at my iPod. Some of my songs (I've only notices a few by The Clash) display different album art on my iPod. It shows fine on iTunes, so why should the iPod show it different?

Try the following procedure:
1. With your iPod connected, highlight it in the device list and click on the "Music" tab.
2. Uncheck the "display album artwork on iPod" box and click "Apply".
3. When the iPod is finished updating, re-check the box and click "Apply" again.
I had the same issue with iTunes 6, and this worked for me. The album artwork links on the iPod just get corrupted sometimes, and need to be re-written.

  • Where is the 'display album art on my iPod' option?

I only use my iPod in the car, so I don't exactly need album artwork on it. iTunes used to have an option to display (or not display) album art on the iPod. What happened to that option? My iPod is a classic, so it has a hard drive, and I'm getting tired of the constant disk access whenever it wants to display album artwork. I would prefer to get rid of it altogether.
I don't want to delete the artwork itself, because I also listen to music with my AppleTV at home. I just don't need the artwork *on my iPod*. How can I rig it so the iPod won't display the artwork anymore?

never mind, I found out that the option no longer exists:

  • Best way for getting album art into iTunes/iPod?

First of all, when you pull the track listing down from Gracenote when importing CDs, does the album art come with it? I don't see any art. And then if not, what is the best source for getting a low resolution digital file for each CD imported and how do you make sure it will make it to your iPod from iTunes? Is there any easy or streamlined process? Also, do the low resolution files add up for each song and take up hard-drive space? Thanks for any input.
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    click
on it on drag it to the desktop, then into the album
    art box of iTunes.
I believe that copying directly into the iTunes box
will use more space on your HD than going via the
    desktop.
    It's the other way round.
If you copy it to your Desktop then it takes space there and if you then copy it to iTunes it gets added to the music file making that bigger.
Of course, if you delete it from the Desktop and empty the Trash then you won't have it taking space.
Here's a useful app for working out where all your space is going: Disk Inventory X

  • Album art disappeared off iPod! Won't go back on! Please help-

This is frustrating beyond belief! Anyway, this is how it went down:
I was updating & synching my iPod (the new iPod video version, 80GB) as usual. Bored, I was looking around in the different tabs while I waited. On the music tab, I saw a check box that said "Display album artwork on you iPod" and it was unchecked. Confused by this, as my album art had always shown up before, I figured I might as well check it just in case to keep my album art ON my iPod. :O Seemed like an okay idea at the time, but the second I clicked "Apply" my iPod started synching with the message "Deleting Album Artwork from iPod" (or something basically like that". I was like HOLY CRAP that's not what I wanted (more like exactly the opposite...), so I clicked "Cancel" but the darn thing continued and finished anyway. Turning on my iPod, I found that indeed all my album art was gone and all my text was center justified, as if it had never existed. (While it's all still there in my Library, displaying just fine~)
So I figured I better uncheck that box (even though it was called "Display album artwork" in the first place) and try to undo what had just happened. I did and on the next synch, it said something like "Optimizing Album Artwork for iPod" and I thought YAY. Maybe it's going back on. But the synch lasted only a few minutes (not seeming long enough for 4,000+ songs worth of artwork to get on there) and, again, when I turned my iPod back on the album artwork was STILL not back on, this time my text being completely left justified (like there SHOULD be artwork) but there was nothing else there...
I've always been a stickler for my library, making sure all my albums are organized and have artwork (often making my own when I can't find it) and I will be VERY upset if I can't figure out a way to get it to display on my iPod again!!! TT__TT I'm so sad. Now both checking or unchecking that box that started this in the "Music" tab do absolutely nothing, and nothing seems to put my artwork back on. Please, if anybody can suggest anything, I would be SO grateful... (Restoring the iPod is the only other thing I can think of [it's software is completely up to date[ and I really don't have the time for that right now.)

Sounds very weird and talk about unintended results ...
By the by restoring the ipod is not a bid deal (although takes some time).
How about this (have not tried it) and assuming you still have artwork on your music library in itunes. Turn on manual synch mode once the ipod is connected. You should see the list of songs you actually have on the ipod. Delete every song and synch (I know, it will take time since you have 4000 + songs). and then turn back automatic synch and re-synch. May be once in manual mode, you could try re-synchinig only a portion of your library to see if it works That's the best I can think of.

  • *** How to get Album Art on your iPod Nano: ANSWERED!

I'll start by saying that my iPod Nano would not display ANY album art at all, even though it did in iTunes. I just added 180 albums to my iPod, and they all showed up, perfectly. Here's how I did it:
    1) Move all the songs you want on your iPod into the iTunes music library. (Open iTunes, and drag the files over the "LIBRARY" catagory)
    2) Click Music, under the LIBRARY heading.
    3) Add the artwork to each song/album. I used "iTunes Art Importer". It's a great program, and is really easy to use/download.
    4) Connect your iPod to your computer.
    5) Remove any songs you have on the iPod.
    6) Go to the Music tab, in the iPod control panel.
    7) Sync all music files/playlists from your iTunes library.
If you did this correctly, all the album art you added in your iTunes library should display on your iPod. Be sure to have "Display Album Art on this iPod" checked off.

I have 2.0 USB on my laptop and pc and it still does not work. Just ot really worried about artwork ecause I don't look at it while it is playing.......

  • IPhone4 Music album art swapping with other albums?

So my iPhone 4 has been going through some issues since the release of 4S:
Slow performance; freezing whilst receiving messages (both iMessage and standard txt); phone vibrates and makes the noise, then 30 seconds later lights up with the alert/notification on the screen.
But the strangest of all, is that randomly the music album art swaps with each other. What is clearly a male artist and his album art, randomly gets Kylie Minogues Album art? However, in iTunes, the album art is correct? I have repeatedly Sync'ed, however, don't want to "restore" the iPhone. But I feel I am fast approaching this as my final option.... :-(
    Any idea's?
This might be the conspirer in me - but issues like this occur whenever Apple bring out the newer version of the iPhone... a plot to make us upgrade out of frustration?
    Many thanks,
         BN0079

Hi, mine's having the same issue, but only of late. I have posted a similar question on here - but judging from your's being posted in August lol - maybe I won't have any luck.
My next stop is to delete all albums and music from my iPhone4 and then BackUp. I'll restore my phone to factory settings and start again.
If that fails to solve the issue, Apple will have to issue me a new phone over the Genuis Bar in-store. :-)

  • Problems with album art copying to ipod touch

I got a 2nd generation ipod touch for christmas and am having some problems with the album art. I have all of the album art set up in itunes, and when I right click on a song and tell it to 'get info' it shows the album art picture fine (in my itunes library as well as in my ipod's music library), but when the song is actually playing on the ipod the screen is just blank. It isn't just the white background with the music notes like a song with no album art at all, it's just a black screen. When I flip the ipod sideways and browse through the albums all of the album art shows up except for a few which are blank as well. Anybody know why this is happening? Another weird thing is that the album art will show up for maybe one or two songs in the album, but the vast majority are just showing a blank black screen with no picture. Anyone else having this problem?

"And now I can't get rid of that cover w/o deleting the whole songlist."
are you sure? if you go to either album info (right clicking on the album in grid view) and double clicking in the album art section, you should be able to use any picture you have saved on your machine by navigating to that picture. OR right clicking individual tracks, then get info, and going to 'artwork', and then deleting it there (you might have to delete them all individually, but it beats having the wrong art there)

  • After i downloaded IOS5 most of my album art on my iPod touch is missing, but its still on my computer.

some of the album art for the songs i recently downloaded from itunes is there, but almost everything i've downloaded from itunes in the past has no album art. how do i get it back?

Another thing to try: uncheck the "Sync Music" checkbox in your iPod pane in iTunes, sync and allow iTunes to remove the tracks, then rechec the "Sync Music" checkbox and resync. That fixed the problem with missing and incorrect album artwork on my iPad with iOS 5.
    Regards.

  • About a month ago, most of the Album art on my iPod just up and disappeared.

So, about a month ago, for no apparent reason at all, almost all of the album art on all of the music on my iPod just disappeared and was replaced by the default white art. It even happened to most of my purchased music! As time passed, some of it gradually re-appeared, which is really weird, but most of it is still gone. I have 174 albums on my ipod and about only 1/4 of them have art. Before this problem happened, almost every single album had art. I meticulously spend HOURS adding really nice album art to the music on my iPod, and then this happens.
I'm genuinely quite upset. I use my iPod a LOT and have put a lot of money into Apple. A problem like this should not be happening. I'm actually very tech-savvy (going to be getting a CS degree) but this problem baffles me at every turn and it's extremely frustrating.
So, last night, I tried to fix the problem again. I made an album in my music folder and added the proper information to each song, with an album cover (500X500 - all of my album art is 500X500) in the folder where the songs reside. I then plug my iPod in and open iTunes. I then go into file and add the album to my iTunes library, and then I go to the songs and add the album cover to their information via the "add artwork" submenu of the get info on the songs. I then sync the songs to my iPod normally, and the album art shows up on them. Great. Wonderful.
I then think, "Oh, maybe I can fix all of my OTHER album art manually!".
So I go to my artists on my iPod and find an album titled Asteroid (it's a song by Rameses B) which doesn't have a cover but should. I deleted it off of my iPod. I then plugged my iPod back into my computer and tried to re-sync the song Asteroid back onto my iPod but nothing happened. It WOULD NOT, and I mean WOULD NOT sync that **** song to my iPod. It just sat there like I never did anything at all. My method of syncing is that I find the song and drag-drop it to the iPod menu on the right side of my screen.
So then I kind of gave up for the night. It was midnight and I was done with this **** after trying to get that song to sync for at least 20 minutes.
So I eject the iPod from my computer (SAFELY) and close iTunes normally, bla bla bla, go to sleep.
I get up this morning and go to my music app and ALL OF MY ALBUM ART ON EVERYTHING IS GONE. *POOF*, gone. Including the songs that I'd synced last night! What the ****! How does that even happen?!
    Some more information:
I'm running Windows 7 with a fully updated iTunes. My iPod is fully updated as well. As in iOS 7.1.0, non-Beta. It's an iPod touch 5th generation.
So, my question is, how the heck do I get my album art back on my darn iPod?! I have tried manually re-syncing individual songs after deleting them off of my iPod and they won't re-sync. I have also tried re-syncing my entire music library to my iPod, and the result was the same as before. Most of the album art didn't transfer to the iPod.
I'm extremely frustrated at this point. I'm at the very verge of jailbreaking this thing and iFunbox-ing all of my album art over to it forcefully. If Apple can't fix my problem, I will. I'm at that point right now.
    Please help.
Thank you so much in advance.

  • Sync and album art problems with iPhone 3G

The other day my iPhone was sitting in the cradle syncing and I noticed iTunes (8.02) was deleting the apps from the phone. I cancelled that sync and in iTunes I saw that the "Sync Applications" checkbox was unchecked, but I hadn't unchecked it. I then rechecked the box and synced my apps back onto the phone.
Today I added some songs to a playlist and synced, but the sync time seemed suspiciously short. When I checked iTunes I saw that all of my sync content boxes were unchecked...Sync Music, Sync Videos, etc. When I check one of the boxes iTunes threatens to delete all the content presently on my phone and replace it with content from the library....which is of course the same content except for the few songs I copied into one playlist. I don't really want to sit around and wait until this stupid phone replaces 15gb of content with the same 15gb of content. Sometimes this thing acts like such a piece of junk.
Perhaps this is related, but some weeks ago I purchased a Colbie Caillat album from the ITMS. Whenever I play a song from this purchase on my iPhone it shows the album art for an Usher album I already had in my library. If I play the same song on one of my iPods, the album art is correct. Apparently some sort of corruption is afoot in either iTunes, the iPhone or both. Is there some way to get iTunes and the iPhone on the same page without having to wipe and restore this stupid phone? Thanks.

I bit the bullet and checked all the boxes and synced, and the phone did not go through with the threat to erase all my content. It just synced the one changed playlist instead. False alarm. However, the album art issue remains.

  • How do I fix the album art on my iPod? It has been scrabbled due to the iOS update.

My iPod touch 5th generation has had two problems come up since the iOS update; I regret updating because I was happy with how it was before. The album art has been scrabbled on my iPod; it has placed album art that goes with other songs to the wrong song or has album art I've never seen before.  My iPod also has a problem with music now. I've noticed that I am unable to play music that I once could. Some have an iCloud or stop symbol next to it and I can not listen to them. I notice that while it plays my music on shuffle, while looking at the screen and song, it will skip through about 2-5 or more songs as if it's not allowed to play it. I am very irratated with these problems. Everything was all dandy before these updates. Any feedback would be very helpful and I thank you.

  • I am unable to optimize my album art for my iPod.

When I attempted to optimize my album art in iTunes (by disabling album art and re-enabling it, used to make browsing within the iPod faster), it is always interrupeted by "the iPod cannot be updated. An unknown error occured. (-50)"
    Any ideas as to why?

Normally artwork recovered with iTunes is stored as a separate artwork file and iTunes refers to that file to display artwork when you click on a track.  However, if you then copy the file to another player the artwork file is left behind and the track will not display the artwork on the other player.  To get around this it is possible to embed the artwork in the music file itself so it always travels with the file.  Artwork can be embedded by you or files from third party sources may arrive with embedded artwork.  iTunes apparently now won't replace artwork for such files.  You can accomplish this by completely deleting artwork for a file or set of files in Get Info, then getting iTunes to fetch artwork which will then be set as a reference file rather than being embedded.
I use an old iTunes so unless you are using an ancient iTunes it won't help for me to give you great details.  To erase artwork I simply get info on a series of files and check the box next to the artwork box without adding any artwork and close.  To do it for  single file I Get Info, go to the artwork display tab and click delete.  Here's a Windows reference for a newer iTunes (but the "old Get Info" reference is for early iTunes 12 and no longer works with newer):I cannot delete embedded album artwork in iTunes 12
