Album art is wrong on iPod but right on iTunes

I have album art for a good amount of my music. In iTunes the it is all correctly assigned but when I use my iPod it has the wrong album art on about 70% of my music. I have tried deleting everything from the iPod and reloading it. It kind of worked but everytime I buy new music and assigned ablumn art it messes it up. Wondering if anyone has any ideas?
Thank you in advance!

I have an ipod touch 4th gen. why does it show the wrong album artwork on my ipod and it's fine on itunes. why is that and is there any way to fix it? please help!

I think it can't find the right or any artwork and ends up putting junk in there.
And can happen with artist and other tags.
probably fine with commercial media but otherwise....? I think you have to manaully go in and edit
I also don't like how it handles and stores non-Apple iTunes store content.

  • Album Art does not appear unless I buy from iTunes

I imported hundreds of cd's into my iTunes library and I noticed that the album art was not appearing. The only album art that appears on my color iPod is from the songs that I purchase from iTunes. Can anyone tell me if I can get the album art from my CDs to appear in my iTunes library and on my iPod? Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks, Mimico Kid! Your suggestion was extremely easy and worked like a charm!
I basically went to Amazon.com like you suggested, searched for all of my cd's in the Amazon music section. Once each cd was listed, I enlarged the album cover to its largest size and then right-clicked on the largest image and then "saved as" the name of the cd in a separate, Album Art folder that I created in the "My Pictures" folder on my c drive. Then I opened iTunes and the Album covers folder that I created and dragged the jpeg of the album cover into the section of iTunes on the lower left side where users are prompted to drag album art.
Here's a hint to significantly quicken the transfer of album art from your separately created "Album Art" folder on your hard (c:) drive to iTunes: select all of the songs of a particular cd listed in your iTunes library before you drag the album art over from your separately created "Album Art" folder. That way, when you do drag the album art over, it will be applied to all of the selected songs - this saves lots of time if you have multiple tracks from CDs in your iTunes library.

  • Album Art does not download while purchasing songs from iTunes

    Hi !
Of late, music I have purchased from iTunes does not seem to download the album art ie: the music downloads fine, but there is no album art with it, despite the fact that on the iTunes site it DOES have album art when advertised.
Has anyone else had this situation, if so, is there a fix ?
Note this is happening only recently.
    Thanks !

I just bought a new laptop and my ipod nano will not stay connected to my computer. When I first connect the ipod it starts to sync on my ipod but not on itunes. The ipod is initially connected to my computer, I can see it when I look on devices in my computer. However, when it finishes syncing it is no longer detected to my computer. I cannot transfer any of my songs to my new laptop because of this. I have tried to reinstall itunes, reset my ipod and use a different port. None of these things worked. Any ideas?

  • Keep songs on ipod but erase in itunes with syncing

I was wondering if anyone know how to sync the whole itunes library to the ipod video but exclude certain songs/videos from syncing. I don't have enough space on my harddrive to keep all of the videos but I would still like to keep them on my ipod. I don't want to use the ipod as external harddrive and keep them there because i would still like to watch/listen to the songs/videos i don't keep in itunes.
      Windows XP

I understand that but I want to do the opposite. My ipod has enough space, my harddrive on the computer doesn't. I want to keep them on the ipod, but not in itunes. How do I keep all of my videos on the ipod (while still being able to play them), but not on my computer in itunes? I still want the rest of the library synced.

  • Can't find my videos on the iPod - but there in iTunes??

The music videos & TV shows I've paid for show up fine where they are supposed to on my iPod. About 1/2 of my video podcasts are showing up (Tiki Bar, DigitalLife TV, Diggnation (what a waste of space). Others show up under "Video" in iTunes, but are either not copying over to my iPod or I can't find them (definitely not under Videos). Also - a home movie in .mov is not showing up, as well as a Tivo file I brought over and converted to MP4. I can't find any consistency in why some videos are not playing on the iPod but do in iTunes. Any ideas??

Did you get any message when syncing your iPod that some videos couldn't be copied over? The iPod can play a subset of the videos that iTunes & QuickTime can. Although there are other details, basically it amounts to a maximum resolution of 320x240 for h.264 codec videos & 480x480 for MPEG4 videos. If a different codec or a larger size was used in the video podcasts you are attempting to copy, they won't transfer.
Also, the iPod puts the videos into various categories that match those in iTunes. You might want to check the Video podcast section in both iTunes & the iPod to confirm they match.

  • Album art is wrong on the phone but fine in iTunes

I've got this small, but annoying problem with the album art on my iPhone. It's only one artist that's affected. All my Vince Gill songs display the album art for Alannis Morrisette's greatest hits. It seems to be associated to the artist Vince Gill because it doesn't matter what album of his I'm listening to it shows the wrong picture. I've wiped the album art in iTunes for Vince and reimported it but the problem persists. Thoughts would certainly be appreciated.
    Thanks

Has happened for years with even iPods.
It depends on how the artwork was assigned.
If you manually assigned artwork and used the Find Album artwork or used the box at the bottom to drag artwork into to assign artwork, then that is the issue. Those methods makes a hidden file on your computer of the artwork and associates it to the song file. iTunes reads this when being used. During sync it syncs those little hidden files over as well. With all these "extra" files things can get messed up if files are moved, renamed, etc.
It is best to always assign artwork by right clicking a song in iTunes, choose Get Info to get to the tag editor, then paste the artwork into the Artwork tab. Then save. This process embeds the artwork into the song file so it always follows it where ever it goes.

  • Album Art is making me crazy! Won't stay attached in iPod but ok in iTunes!

1.Some of my Album Art is imported from iTunes, some is copied / pasted from internet since I can't get it from "Import Art" from iTunes. I also use an external hard drive to store my iTunes on. iTunes plays fine, and in iTunes, all my album art is displayed. However, several albums (only about 10 out of over 1000) show no album art at all in my iPod(s). I download it again, drag it into the window where you drop artwork and it seems fine in iTunes but again will not show up in my iPod. The image is fine as it shows in iTunes and is the same size as all my other image files I have used.
I have even deleted all the art from each individual track in iTunes which had missing art and reloaded it - same thing. This is making me nuts! Any ideas? I'm a very anal person and I want art on every track/album.
This happens on my new iPod classic 80G w/video as well as an older iPod classic which doesn't support cover flow but still shows album art.
2.On an even weirder note, if I eject/disconnect my external drive to use my laptop, when I reconnect, most of my album art is gone in iTunes. However, if I use the cover flow view to locate the albums with no art, when I get to them I press enter to play the first (or any) song on the album and as soon as it starts to play, the art comes back and then stays! This is very strange. Almost as if iTunes forgot where the art is but playing the song somehow reunites it. I don't get it.

For #1, the iPod's Artwork cache does get corrupted when making frequent changes. In the iPod's Music preferences tab in iTunes, remove the check beside "Display album artwork on your iPod" and select Apply.
Once the iPod has finished syncing, recheck it and hit Apply again. iTunes should recreate the artwork cache and re-sync it to your iPod.
For #2, are you running the itunes database (it has an ITL extension) from the exHD ? Or from the default location on your C: drive. The downloaded artwork from the itunes store goes into a folder named Album Artwork, and that is created in the same folder as the ITL file.
Not sure if this is it, since I embed the artwork in all my files.

  • Album art mixed up on Ipod 5G

    Hello,
I have a 5g ipod and recently finished riping over 200 CD's to Itunes. I added album art to every song on every disk . My Ipod is displaying the album art but it is displaying the wrong art on many songs. Sometimes it shows one art image on the small version next to the song info and then when you click through to the full screen version you get yet another image. All these songs art looks fine when viewed in Itunes on my PC. I spent tons of time getting these on there and now at least 40% are crap on my ipod. Anyone else have this problem?

You do know you can have more than 1 piece of art for each song?
Go to the album anbd open the first song.
    Get INfo and Artwork.
There is a little slider under the artwork which zooms in/out. Move it to see if there is more than 1 cover. If so, just select it and hit delete.
Also, when putting artwork in, find it and copy it to the clipboard, select the ablum, make sure the Album Artorwork box (bottom left of iTunes) displays Selected Song, then paste into this box. Easier than doing it one at a time for same album.

  • When I try to "Get Track Names" or "Get Album Art," the wrong info or no info is retrieved

I'm using the latest iTunes and Lion OS.
I have many songs from long ago (not downloaded from iTunes) which have incorrect album names, etc., and I want to clean them up, but when I enter the correct info and select "Get Album Art" or "Get Track Names," either nothing is found or the incorrect information is returned, respectively.
For example, I have a song:
    Artist: James Taylor
    Album: Greatest Hits
    Name: Mexico
It does not have the associated Album Art, nor does it have the rest of the information like Track, Year, etc.  It just has the Track Name, Album Name and Artist Name.  I want to update this to show that it is from the original Album, "Gorilla," so I right-click and select Info, and I fill in the Album Name as "Gorilla." When I right-click and select "Get Album Art," it tells me: "Artwork for "James Taylor - Gorilla" could not be found - though it exists in iTunes. When I right-click and select "Get Track Names," the item is updatd, and now it reads:
    Artist: America
Album: Mellow Rock Hits Of The 70s: Summer Breeze
Name: A Horse With No Name
When I rename everything to "James Taylor," "Mexico," and "Gorilla," and select either "Get Album Art" or "Get Track Names," I get the exact same thing: no album artwork found, and it renames it to America.
What is happening?  What am I doing wrong?  Do I have the wrong expectations of the two right-click options?

I don't think CDDB and iTunes Store is the same.  The CDDB gets information for CDs only (not collections of tracks made from a CD) and uses CD features such as track lengths (exact, which could be modified by a fraction of a second when you make a MP3) track count, etc. It doesn't use any information such as artist, track name. From what Mike Johnson12 was saying it seems that ITMS uses the base tag information to identify the track fully.
I have never used iTunes Store to label a track so I can't provide information there. I have no idea what criteria it uses, but for other id3 tag application and iTunes, by "exact" we mean exact.  Letter case is important, and I have even found that sometimes font can make a difference.
For album artwork I do a Google search, then restrict the finds to images and select the best quality I can find. This is also the biggest in terms of file size so I only attach the image to one file in a track. When playing iTunes on the computer it displays that image for all tracks in that album.

  • Is there a good way to update album art directly on my ipod?

    Hi, new here.
So I have an ipod nano 5th gen: 16GB.
I have ~1500 songs on it and have been facing a slew of interesting issues with my album art.
    1.  I prefer to add songs manually as I tend to want only some of an artist, genre, or similar, and I like the control it gives me.  The problem that I've been having is that there is no efficient way to add artwork to the songs / albums on my ipod that I have ripped from CDs, and are already on my ipod.  Going through all my songs and seeing if they have art would be tedious and time consuming, and the only better way to do this seems to be deleting songs off of my ipod and re-copying them.  Normally, I would just delete all my songs and re-copy them all, and go do something else for half an hour or so, but there are some songs on my ipod that may not even exist on my computer anymore, and I can't get them again.  Is there a better way to just synch songs with the ones in my library and update those that have had art added?  (The synch button at the bottom of the ipod tab / window doesn't seem to do that.)
    2.  At one point, I tried manually adding artwork to albums using Wikipedia images / etc, and I know that many people like to put their own artwork for their albums.  The problem I had is that adding the artwork directly to the album only updated the firts track, and the rest still had the big note on them.  Is there a way to adress this and make it apply the picture to the whole album?
    3.  When I was finally able to update my images because they required an apple id, and I didn't have a credit card to give, the custom images on the albums stayed.  Is there a way to override this?  The artwork that was downloaded looks better then what I had.
I know this is a lot, but I think these questions are related enough.
Thanks in advance for any help!
