Album Art Madness! What's Going On? Thumnails Problems

1) I added album at to all of my tracks in my 'music folder' using itunes
2) Used Doug's AppleScrips for Itunes to embed the artwork
3) The icon on my music files changed from the itunes default grey background with a music note to display the album art when browsing my music files in finder
4) I copied my music folder with embedded artwork to my external HD as a backup
Every piece of software i've tried - itunes, traktor pro, songbird, vlc, media monkey (bootcamp), tag&rename (bootcamp) shows that the album art is with the file.
Yet...
1) If I copy tracks from my music folder to another location such as the desktop the file icon no longer dispays the album art on the icon - it is replaced by the grey itunes icon with the musical note.
2) If I rename tracks in my music folder the file icon no longer dispays the album art on the icon - it is replaced by the grey itunes icon with the musical note.
3) The backup I made on external HD no longer displays the embedded album art in the file icon
Despite this the music file seems to have the artwork attached to it when launched in the mentioned music software.
I have recently upgraded from leopard to snow leopard + the latest Itunes. Could it be a problem with preview? I really don't know what's going on, if my art really is embedded or what to do.
Hope You Can Help!

  • Album Art Madness...What is the Method???

I frequently use the 'Get Album Artwork' feature. However, for some songs I am simply unable to tag the song properly in order to get the song to grab the information from iTunes. The album is on iTunes, I don't have a problem searching for it and finding it, but no matter what I do to my tag I can't seem to get the album art to download.
Has anyone else experienced this, and if so have you figured out what exactly causes it?

    Deron,
I also recommend Amazon album artwork widget. iTines is helpful, but as iLee said, the album info has to match exactly or there is no match.
Here is the location for the Amazon widget:

  • ZEN VISION:M What happened to the Album art???/What do you use to transf

I've had my zen vision m since last summer and absolutely love it. Recently though I reformatted and added my entire library with the zen vision m media explorer like I always do. I have always tagged my music with musicmatch jukebox so that the album art shows up on my zen. This time however there is no album art. What's going on, is it the new firmware?
How do the rest of you add your tracks? There's at least fi've different ways I've discovered to do it, but in the past the media explorer was always the best.

    Hi,
I think you're in fullscreen mode. Press F11 to turn it off/on.

  • What is processing album art and determining gapless playback?

Whenever I add music to my itouch, it takes forever because it determines gapless playback and processing album art.
What exactly happens if I hit the X when processing art?

and is this in relation to my library on the pc or my ipod?

  • Adding scanned art for Album Art

I followed the itunes help on this topic and checked out some of the previous threads about album art with no real solutions to my problem:
I am using iTunes 7 and my brother just recorded an indie album which I added to my iTunes library. I then scanned the CD cover and made two copies:
a .psd file of 250x249 pixels
a .jpg file of 250x249 pixels
The iTunes Help says to command-click each item in the album, choose "Get Info" and then drag and drop the art into the little artwork box in the window. That kind of works. The file appears in the little window, but when I close the "Get Info" window on those items, the album art is not there. I also tried Browsing to the file with the same results. I tried both the JPG and the PSD file.
I also tried dragging the file from my desktop onto a single file and that won't "stick" at all. If I have a single song selected and try to drag the file from the desktop to the album art viewer, it won't go at all. It just "bounces" back to its spot on the desktop.
Is there a certain file type or size? I am the administrator of the computer. I tried things like ejecting the CD before dropping the art work on and I tried changing the iTunes view from the new "album art carousel" look to the standard iTunes view.
    What could be wrong? Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
There really is no standard file size, however, "less is plenty" applies. Jpeg is sufficient, and since it's basically for screen resolution on either the monitor or iPod, then the file sizes you mention are more than sufficient.
Odd, the artwork is not sticking. I usually copy/paste into the Artwork panel for a single selection. Multiple selections are similar to what you tried - drag/drop to the artwork panel, which automatically checks the box to the left of the panel. Upon selecting OK, iTunes updates the album or multiple selections (usually taking 20 seconds or so).
Might try moving the com.apple.iTunes.plist file in your User Library>Preferences folder to the desktop and restarting iTunes. You may have a corrupted preference file. On the restart, iTunes creates a new preference file. See if the artwork functionality is restored. If not, return the file to its original location. If the artwork placement does work, then you'll need to restore any custom iTunes preferences.
    Post back with results.

  • IPhone Album Art

I'm currently using iTunes 7.6.0.29 with a 1.1.3 iPhone. I've got a lot of lesser known albums that iTunes can't grab album art for, so I did the get info -> artwork fix to manually set the album art for all those albums.
Everything looks fine in iTunes, zero albums missing art, but all of the old problem albums I had in iTunes still don't show album art in my iPhone. I've already tried deleting the offending albums in the iPhone and resyncing, but they still don't show the album art that I see in iTunes.
Is there any way to manually select album art on an iPhone?

Having this problem as well. Surprised to see there's a huge number of threads on this problem, all between the end of January and now.
The killer is, this is art that would copy perfectly well to my iPhone since *release day* last year. But with a recent full restore (thanks to the third major AT&T screw-up since... release day), looks like the art refuses to come over.
Bizarre, since nothing changed after the restore - same firmware I had before the restore!
This is killing me. Between the major AT&T issues (the likes of which I never had on 7+ years of Sprint/Helio) and the minor annoyances like this one (one of many functional issues), I routinely want to throw my iPhone against the wall. Which *****, because I love it overall. But when your phone + music player keeps having issues BEING a phone, OR a music player, it's time to look at other carriers/hardware until the kinks are worked out.
Not going to bother calling Apple, it'll be "did you restore?"

  • Album Art not saved

Hi, i am trying to include album art to my songs and i click and drag to the space for album art. It seems it is saved because it appears. but if i select another song and then i come back to the song i set the album art, there ir no album art.
    What is happening?
In preious versions i did not hace this bug.

I have to chime in here too. I am also not able to get iTunes to save album artwork I've downloaded from other online sources (Amazon, other JPEG images of album covers, etc). I've tried various methods (selecting individual song, drag artwork to viewer box or open the Info dialog and drag image to that ARTWORK tab or use the ADD button to locate image files, and also trying to select a whole album and dragging the image to the multiple selected songs) but nothing works. I've checked by making sure the viewer box is on Selected Song rather than Playing Song, etc etc. It just doesn't want to keep the song artwork no matter what I do.
I am the admin for the computer so permissions shouldn't be an issue, but how do I check?
I'm using iTunes 6.0.1 and I've tried this on many different songs. It does keep the artwork for songs I've purchased thru ITMS, natch, just not the ones I've ripped from my own CD collection.
Does the artwork need to be saved to a specific place to work? I looked thru folders in my library and couldn't find image files for songs I've purchased.
    I hope somebody can help!

  • Grayed out, unplayable songs and missing album art on iPhone after 5.1 update with iTunes 10.6

I have been having these problems on my iPhone since the above updates. First, the grayed out songs:  I have my iTunes account set to sync over the air with wifi. I charge my iPhone overnight, but sometimes when I unplug the iPhone in the morning, a great majority of the songs get grayed out and unplayable.  I can see the songs listed, but they don't play. I then have to sync the iPhone on my iMac in iTunes to enable all the grayed out songs to be re-copied to the iPhone.  As if that isn't inconvenient enough, I now am encountering missing album art for every song on my iPhone.  All the album art exists in my iTunes account on my iMac, but I can't get the album art to appear on my iPhone. This literally happened overnight one day ago and I can't figure out how to get the album art back.  I do have sufficient storage space on my iPhone, so that possible explanation is eliminated.
Re: the grayed out songs: what is causing this and is there any way to avoid it?
Re: the missing album art: again, what is causing it and how can I restore the art to my iPhone?

Unfortunately, the only solution to this problem was to restore my iPhone.  Many hours later, the problem was resolved, but for how long?

  • Can't get Album Art for CDs

I ripped a bunch of CDs to Windows Media Player and it got the album art for all of them. Then later I installed iTunes and it automatically converted the songs over to it from WMP, but iTunes did not get the album art and it says that it is not available when I click on "Get Album Art." What do I do?

Not a complete answer, but will get you most of the art work you need.
Find the album on the Internet. I usually try Amazon.com, puretracks.com, or any site that will let you right click and save the art work shown. Use the "Save As" and save it as a "jpg" file. Make sure you put it in a location, and give it a name you can find.
Open iTunes, find the album and right click on it. Click on "Get Info", go to the "Artwork" tab, and click on "Add". Brows to the location where you saved the artwork and add it.
If you have more that one song in the same album you can add the same artwork to each song by right clicking on the artwork just imported and selecting copy. Go to the next song's artwork and right click and select past.
Not the best, but after I find the album I can add the artwork to all the songs in an album in less that two minutes.
It is taking a little work, but I am slowly overcoming the stupidity of the Apple programmers who wrote iTunes. It is a fairly good program, but it could be much better if Apple would make it easier for users to submit suggestions, and if they incorporated the popular suggestions. Unfortunately Apple has always had an arrogant attitude and they are not likely to change any time soon.

  • CoverFlow album art has a black line through it?

Anyone else have this problem? There's a thin black line running from the top left corner to the bottom right corner of all my album art. What's the deal? Can you somehow disable this?

    Good tip,
Essentially the cover art uses the same items as playing video.
This is a good article for generally troubleshooting, and includes updating drivers as a good step:

  • Album art does not display on iPod after sync with iTunes

I synced my 1G iPod nano to the new iTunes 7, and it did not seem to fully sync my iPod. I downloaded some album art onto some songs and they dont display on my iPod nano. Does anyone have the same problem as I do? Much help would be appreciated

I was hoping I could find the answer here. I have a 60GB Video and before v7 about 30% of my albums had art that I found and attached myself, they showed up on my iPod. With v7 I chose for iTunes to get my album art and it did, all of my songs had corresponding art to go with it, when I plugged in my iPod to sync last night I just let it run because there are so many. This morning I get my iPod and I play a song, nothing, then another and another and still no art but when I open iTunes, I see the album art. What gives?

  • No Album Art after trasnfer from WMP11??

Recently I tried to transfer music from WMP11 to my N82 thru USB cable connection set at Music Player profile. However to much of my dismay, the album arts that was stored in my music files in Windows Media Player is not displayed after it was transferred to my N82.
What could be wrong and how do I remedy it?
    Thanks!
PS: thanks Nokia for enabling music tag editting on-the-go!

    Hi El,
thanks for your input. I realise the problem with WMP11 way of handling album art which is the cause of my problem here. I am in the midst of deleting the album art of my songs and paste them back as Cover (front) which is damn tedious given that the tag editor in WMP11 is not user friendly at all.
I do manage my album art well using iTunes but sadly, the album arts are not displayed preperly on WMP11. Any suggestions for a quick and fast way to update my album art in WMP?
Next, I would like to feedback on the Nokia Music Manager (NMM). This is nice that Nokia has created this software for music transfer. back in the days N series phones are not supported by WMP, it is the main tool for music transfer for my device. However, it performance as a music manager disappoints me.
Firstly, the tag details of the songs are not displayed fully after scanning my library of 3k plus songs. Also, the album art function is not functioning at all. There is no wat to drag and drop the album art on the NMM. Anyone experience the same problem as me? Any syggestions??
