Album Art missing from one track

I've got a fair-sized CD collection, which I ripped to 320k MP3 a couple of years ago on a Windows machine. I've just imported the albums into iTunes on my iMac. I've managed to resolve a few problems, but this one has me beat:
One album has one track with no artwork. I realise that you have to import artwork on a per-track basis, so I assume that the artwork was missing from the ID tag when the album was originally ripped.
Thing is, I can't find the artwork anywhere else to re-import it onto this one track.
Is there any way of getting the artwork from another track on this album onto the track in question?

It is pretty simple. Just select the track with album art, drag the album art from the artwork window to desktop and you will have a .pictClipping file. Now select the track with album art missing and drag the .pictClipping into the artwork window and you are done.

  • Switched iPod format from PC to Mac OSX.5 - Album Art Missing in some songs

Has anyone else seen this problem? I am meticulous about adding art to albums I like, especially, so I know it was there before.
I switched from a Windows system to Macbook recently, and everything else seems great, but there is definitely some artwork missing. There is no consistency to what's missing - some I added myself by adding a .jpg to the folder where the songs were (auto-created by iTunes when I imported the song in), and some were brought in when I imported a CD.
Can I get iTunes (and my iPod) to find them again, or will I just have to re-add them?
Also - My music is all on an external USB drive which is plugged in to a G5 and I'm accessing it from my MacBook over wireless network. Would that make a difference? When I go on the G5, I see a folder I created on the PC for miscellaneous album art. From the MacBook, I cannot see that folder. I can see all the music folders around it, but just not that folder. ***? Why is that?

    see doing the following helps
    For Mac computer
    1. Open the disk utility, hope your iPod appears there (left hand side), highlight it
    2. Go to Tab “Partition”, click either “Delete” or “Partition”, if fails, skip this step and go to 3
    3. Go to Tab “Erase” , choose Volume Format as “MAC OS Extended (Journaled), and click Erase, again if fails, skip it and go to 4
    4. Same as step 3, but open the “Security Options....” and choose “Zero Out Data” before click Erase. It will take 1 to 2 hours to complete.
    5. Eject your iPod and do a Reset
    6. Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”
seems it could be some bad sectors on the HD of your iPod, if the above does not solve, then do a Restore with a PC, and see what happen

  • Up loading album art work from the net problem

Just recently, I keep getting " unknown error - 609 " every time I go for up loading album art work from the net. This applies to all the albums not just the really obscure ones ! and its just the art work because I can still get all the track listings.

Actually I experienced the same thing but it's not an issue of missing artwork in the wi fi store. The reason I say this is that when initially purchased the artwork showed fine on the device.
After syncing it also shows fine in ITunes. When checking the device again though, it seems to display random art from the library for that track. In cover flow, if not the center image, i displays what i can best describe as a color static image in the place of the album art.

  • How do you copy automation from one track to another?

How do you copy automation from one track to another? Occassionally I mistakenly blow away a track's automation. I open up an earlier version of the song to try to get the automation. It doesn't seem that you can copy and paste the data. After some struggle, I find a way. Is there an easy way?

    1. Copy the track containing the desired automation to another track. (create a track below it to keep things organized)
    2. Double click on the region and delete the notes.
    3. Now copy the region to the desired track.
P.S. Of course when Logic asks if you want to copy the automation data you say yes)

  • Moving activities from one track to another

    Hi,
I was wondering whether it's possible to move activities (not activated nor transported yet) from one track to another.
    Here's our setup:
Project is divided into 2 phases:
Phase A is completed developed - Still waiting for the results of UAT.
Phase B is now under development.
Since we can still expect issues to pop up after the UAT of phase A, we don't want to mess up phase A source with ongoing phase B development. So, we are planning the copy NWDI track A to track B in order to start developing  for phase B without touching track A. After successfull UAT of phase A we plan to merge track B files back again to track A.
    Is this possible within NWDI?
    Thank you,

  • Copy custom code from one track to another track

How can we copy only new code from one track to another track. We don't want to merge the other DCs exisitng between 2 tracks. Is it possible through track connection? Pls give your valuable suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Santha

    HI,
you just want to copy new code?
i really dont understand this question.
    but as per my understanding
    1. you can copy a whole track..through track connection.
    2. You can do one thing if just want to copy new code, use NWDS and copy new changes into other tracks DC. it will be good.
    3. there is option for workspace comparision and integration. think of it, if suitable.

  • How can I reset all my song data - genre, year, album art etc. from CDDB?

Like most people I've built up my music collection over quite a few years.
In the old days, album info often couldn't be found online, and I had to input data manually.
Also, new fields have appeared in the CDDB since I imported some older tracks.
This means that a lot of my songs have data missing in fields, poor quality album art, or inconsistent genres etc.
Is there anyway to strip out this information and get iTunes to go back to the CDDB and download the info (for tracks already in the library) afresh?
The obvious way, selecting an album and choosing "get CD track names" doesn't seem to work if there is already data there, even if it's manually entered and incorrect.
Also, if you try and get new album art, iTunes won't replace art manually associated with the files (i.e. that I added myself from a low-res image 5 years ago).
This must be a fairly common issue - can anyone help to solve it?
Obviously the more global the solution the better - i.e. a way to do it to multiple albums, rather than one track at a time!
    Many thanks in advance
    T.

I have bad news for you...I tried doing the same thing a while back and couldn't find any easy way. Eventually, I had to strip the mp3 tags from the songs and (using a third party mp3 tag editor) had software that automatically looked them up on the net and put the info back in. Then, I had to get the album artwork in iTunes. Quit a pain! I did it one album at a time. Good luck!

  • ITunes 11 downloaded album art disappeared from first song of many albums

In iTunes 11. the downloaded album artwork disappeared from the first song of many of my albums.
This just randomly happened; it wasn't after an upgrade or any other noticeable event.
The artwork is still associated with all the subsequent songs of the album, just not with the first one.
I do not want to embed the artwork into the music files.
Nor do I want to "Clear Downloaded Artwork" and redo "Get Album Artwork" for the affected albums, since some of the albums are no longer in the iTunes Store, so I won't be able to download their artwork anymore.
The best that I can think of is to:
    1) remove the song that is missing the artwork from itunes without deleting the file from the hard drive
    2) in iTunes, copy another song from the same album
    3) delete the newly copied song from the hard drive without removing it from iTunes
    4) in iTunes, "Get Info" on the newly copied song, which will tell me that it can't be found, and give me the option to "Locate" the file
    5) "locate" the file by selecting from the hard drive the file for the song that was mising its artwork, and that was removed from iTunes in step 1
Unfortunately, this will remove the song's rating, play counts, etc., remove it from any playlists, and change the date added, etc.
Does anyone have a better solution?
    Thanks.

Oh ok. I have just set it to automatically pull cover art but I might try doing each track as you suggested. I just assumed this would be automatic for every track not just the first one.

  • How do I sync so that album art work in one library is copied over to another via home-sharing? Most of the artwork has been scanned and added by me.

I have three computers, each with its own iTunes Library, but if I add material to one, every few days I make sure that it's copied over to the others via homesharing.  However, some of the metadata does not transfer, specifically the album art work.  So on one library, call it my Home Library, everything is nice and tidy, with album artwork where it should be.  On the other two, all the albums I've painstakingly made sure are complete on the home library are missing the art work.
Any thoughts?  Tune Ranger and other iTunes maintenance apps don't seem to do the job, either. Coverscout, PowerTunes and Song Sargent also fail this task.

My understanding it iTunes handles artwork several ways.  First, iTunes keeps a copy of all artwork in its artwork folder.  Second, artwork can optionally be embedded in a media file.  You can, for example, have an album where no artwork is actually in the files but all use a reference copy in the artwork folder.  Even if a file has artwork embedded it may still use the version in the artwork folder.
Embedded artwork travels with the file when you copy the file.
I am hazy as to when exactly iTunes will embed artwork and when it won't.  I believe, for example, if you use iTunes to fetch artwork it will not embed it, it will just place a copy in the artwork folder.  Then too I never use iTunes to fetch artwork and I usually end up with artwork embedded in a file or two per LP (each embedded copy uses up more disk space).  Now, I still use iTunes 7.5 and new versions may not behave exactly the same.  If it was my version and I added artwork to a file it would embed it and it would transfer.  It sounds like your artwork isn't embedded even if you are adding it the same way I would (I drag mine to the little arwork display box in the bottom left corner of my window, which apparently has vanished completely in iTunes 11).
You could try this for a file:
Script for embedding artwork - http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=embedart
Just remember embedding artwork adds to each file size, so if you have 1000 files and you add 2 MB of high quality scans to each track you are taking up 2 GB more of drive space.

  • Album Art Missing/Not Showing Up...Among Other Things

Recently my new Q10 has decided to stop showing album art randomly - I say randomly as art work that used to show has now suddenly gone either black or now shows the default blue note art. I am practically OCD about my mp3 tags and while 3 different tagging programs say I have the correct art, my Q10 says otherwise.
And it's not just music per-say: I have recently come to the conclusion that there are no useful podcast apps yet out - I've tried about 4 "native" apps (or at least available in the app world store) and 5 different side loaded apps that claim to allow a user to manually add podcast episodes to the podcast folder as mp3s...another rant for another thread but those mp3 are also missing their respective art and one that I deleted ages ago (as it was corrupted) is STILL in my library and refuses to be deleted.
This all started after the update to 273 (no sign of anything after that)
I've tried rebooting my phone after removing the sd card, I've tried removing it from the music menu, the file is not on my phone so why is my library still showing it - even after it says the file no longer exists!?!?!?
Sorry to go on a rant/tangent but I actually really love my new Q10 but I HATE these niggling issues that seem to crop up like mushrooms everytime I try to do something, has anyone else had similar issues? Have they been fixed with the most recent update? Anyone else on O2 in the UK who actually has the update?

  • What database does album art come from?

I'm just wondering if we're capable of updating it, or where the information comes from.  I'd also like to know about iTunes capitalization and punctuation standards, if there's a link to that, a la Wikipedia, and genre listing.  Who controls that information?
    Thanks
    M.

After a bit more research this afternoon, I did discover the Gracenote website where they have some interesting information.  It's interesting to me that iTunes draws its album names and genre from Gracenote, but its art from the iTunes store (at least as far as I've been able to figure out).
I did have some luck, if other people have album art problems, shutting all of my programs down and restarting, and then relogging into iTunes and making it sure it had correct cc or Paypal information.  I was getting an error -409.  Now, I'm down to sixty missing album covers.
My "Live at the Fillmore" album, for instance, I used as an experiment.  I right-clicked Get Track Names, and it changed the name of the album to "Live @ The Fillmore" rather than my preferred spelling, which evidently comes from CDDB database?  Is that the same as Gracenote?  Then I right-clicked the album again and selected Get Artwork.  Now it was unable to find the artwork.
When I checked in the iTunes store, I noticed that the album was listed "Live At the Fillmore."  So I changed the name back to "Live at the Fillmore" and it found the art, even though my capitalization was different.  So I'd say that the text has to be exactly the same, but capitalization can differ.
It still seems like the two databases are drawing from two different places.
I did figure out how to right-click and find art for individual albums, so that's extremely helpful and a big time saver.

  • Album art missing under artists tab on iPad 2 running iOS 5

I restored my iPad 2 to iOS 5 as a new iPad. Everything synced fine the first time and all album art showed up perfectly, but when I synced a second time, for some reason my iPad ended up messing up all the album art in the music app, but only under the artists tab. I tried unsyncing all of the music, and then resyncing all of it again, but it did the same thing if I synced it again. Only 5 artists have album art showing, but the rest are blank, even though every single album in my music library has album art. The album art in the actual albums tab is fine. Here's a picture that shows what it looks like:

Yup, driving me mad! I use my Ipad2 for professional DJing but simply cant any more. It took me three days to re-organise all my music and albums and get all the artwork in. I made the MASSIVE mistake of clicking 'sync over wifi' in itunes and now half the album art is missing again. Every time I re-sync, different artwork appears and different artwork vanishes????
I have now wiped all my music and am re-syncing yet again to see if it works.
Does anyone from Apple exist and can explain what the heck is going on here as IOS 5 has rendered my device almost unusable for its main purpose. I have to say, I have gone from selling Ipads at all my gigs to telling everyone who comes up to have a look not to bother any more - its probably caused several hundreds of laughs already, not the kind of advert Apple wants I'm guessing????

  • Album Art Missing in iPhone 16Gb 3G

When i transfer albums to my iPhone only some of the albums display album art. Every album in my iTunes library has album art, most of it I have manually attached to each album.
when i use the iTunes interface to look at the music on my iPhone it displays the album art in the "Selected Item" section in the bottom left corner. i have checked multiple albums, and every song in those albums has the artwork. so it displays the art in my iTunes library, it displays the art when i view the music on my iPhone in the iTunes interface, but it does not display the art when i scroll through the music using the iPhone.
am i totally missing something here?
    Message was edited by: ajaj7411

This has been issue for long time even for iPods before iPhone.
    The cause is this.
There are multiple ways of manually applying artwork to a song in iTunes. Only 1 is the best way to make sure artwork goes with the file.
    The three ways are:
    1. Drag a file/image to the bottom window where it displays artwork when a song is selected.
    2. Using the "Find Album Artwork" option in the right click menu for a song.
    3. Using "Get Info" option to bring up the Tags of the song and pasting a image into the artwork tab.
The 3rd is the best and only option you should use.
    Here is why.
If you use the little artwork window and put images in there, or if you tell iTunes to find artwork, what it does is uses the image supplied or the one it finds and then saves that image to a hidden file on your computer. Then iTunes notes/saves a pointer to that file matched to song. So "iTunes" when playing or looking at the file will say, oh there is a pointer to a file, let me go find that file and display the image. All good and dandy for iTunes.
However when you move that file (manually to another machine or sync to a device) it just moves the media file. The hidden image doesn't go with it as iTunes just uses it.
So the 3rd option of using "Get Info" to get into the tag editor does it different.
In the tag editor you are literally editing data contained in the media file itself. Thus if on the Artwork tab in the tag editor if you paste an image in there, when saved it will embed the image into the media file itself. Thus if you move the file to another computer or sync, that file contains the artwork thus will always be available to it no matter where it is moved.
So in summary, ONLY ever add artwork by using the ArtWork tab in the tag editor (Get Info option).
Nice thing is too when you do, since it literally changes the file (can see date change property update...and filesize) then when you sync it will notice a file change and update the song on the device. If you use the other options, no change is ever done to the physical file thus you will notice the file not change it's change date or size, thus on syncing after assigning artwork those other two ways, it will not retransfer the file because to the iPhone/iPod, it has not changed so there is no need.

  • Some Album Art Missing in Albums/Artists/Genres

An issue with iTunes 11.  I have noticed that I have several tracks that are not displaying the album art when I view them in the "Albums", "Artists", or "Genres" modes.  I'm seeing the generic white box with the gray musical note, not the art.  These tracks DO have art attached to them.  The art is there when I bring up the track's "get info" box.  It also displays next to the progress bar and in the pop-up album art player window that shows up when I click the art.  But it's refusing to display in the main window in any of those three modes.  How do I fix this?

Been watching this problem an these forums and no known (easy) fix.
    What I've done is manually:
From the ALBUMS pane, select the offending Album
Select an individual track and do Get Info
In the Get Info window, Press the Next button.
That usually works .... but if not
Select the cover art, cut it (CMD-X)
Press the Next Button, then the Previous Button to go back to the empty pane
                   Paste the art (CMD-V)
                   Press OK to exit  .....

Quick answer:  Select all the tracks on the album, File > get info, and either give them all a single "album artist", or check the "compilation" flag (as in https://discussions.apple.com/message/17670085).
If these are from multiple-CD sets you may also need to enter the appropriate information in the disc number fields.
