Album Art Mysteriously Disappearing

Once in a while I'll open iTunes or turn on my iPod and find that an album has lost its artwork. I replace the image with no problem, (takes 2 seconds with google images lol), and after that I save the image in an album artwork folder if it isn't already there. It never happens with the same album twice. Is this album art issue due to the fact that I've transferred some songs over from other libraries using a memory stick, and the attached images have some how faded away?

I have a MacBook Pro with OS 10.4.11, and iPod Classic v1.1.1, and I'm having a similar problem:
Any artwork that I retrieved using iTunes' "Get Album Artwork" option DOES NOT show up on my iPod. All the artwork I manually retrieved from Google (copy & pasted) shows fine.
I'm told that copying and pasting artwork embeds the image file right into the mp3 file itself. The artwork that iTunes retrieves is NOT stored in each mp3 file, but rather in its own separate database. Somehow that database doesn't seem to be transferring to the iPod.

  • Album Art Temporarily Disappears in Cover Flow

I noticed today that while rapidly flicking in cover flow the album art would suddenly disappear for large clusters of songs, replaced by the song note. Then, at some point, for reasons I couldn't figure out, the album covers would reappear (hitting home button and going back may have worked). My software is up to date. First time I've ever seen this happen. Anyone else noticed this? I did a quick search and didn't find anything. Thanks for any responses.

I've got about 300 mb left since I updated to 1.3.1 (that update inexplicably seemed to take up a lot more memory than any prior update). I also noticed last night that if I flick it really fast, it will pop back to the home screen. This is one of several instances of instability I have noted since I updated, although generally things have worked well. I'm tempted to go for the 16 gig and just start over with a new phone, particularly since I'm about out of memory.
    Thanks for responding.

  • Album art work disappearing

I've been trying to clean up my itunes library and for some of the albums the artwork I've added won't stick. It shows up fine when I'm in the grid view for that album but when I'm on the grid view for all my music it disappears (although it shows up again when I hover over it). Does anyone know why this is and how I can fix it? I've made sure the artwork is definitely on every track of the album and most of my other albums are fine...

i think this may be a screen resolution issue, what if you change screen resolutions, buy lingeriedoes this change things. OR do you have any itunes that worked also before, it will be nice to see more, maybe steroidssome picture or similar, to understand more properly what to say

  • Album Art Randomly Disappearing in I-Tunes

Background: I have an old version of Itunes (6.01.03) and I am running Windows XP. My library consists of songs ripped from CD's, downloaded from artist sites, downloaded from blogs or ripped from stream/converted to MP3.
Problem: The album artwork has been randomly disappearing from my mp'3 for quite a while. It is not limited to one type of file - download ones or ripped ones.
Songs with an id tag of v2.2 seem to be fine. Tags at v2.3 seem to lose the artwork. So I change the album tags from v2.3 to none to v2.2, then add the artwork, the select the convert selection to Mp3 option. The file then reads "encoded with ITunes 6.01.03".
This seems to work for a while. But the id tags eventually switch back to v2.3 and I lose the album artwork again.
I have spent countless hours on updating the album information and artwork only to keep losing it. Any suggestions on what I can do to keep losing the artwork or should I just give up on adding the artwork?

yeah, Apple doesn't post replies here, it is for user-to-user help.
I think the v2.2 tags are your problem, and something else on your PC is changing the tags, not iTunes. iTunes is not that smart....
I suspect Windows Media Player. It is installed on every PC, and the default iptions are to look things up on the internet. It can do this in the background, without you even thinking WMP has launched. Go in and look at your WMP options, set it to not update from the internet.
In my case, I had disappearing artwork with v2.2 tags. Then I would run it through a little program to figure out beats per minutes, and the artowkr was gone - because the tags for v2.2 were wrong.
After I converted everything to v2.3, disappearing artwork stopped.

  • Album Art Disappears after not using iPod for several days...what up?

I've searched all the forums about this, but couldn't find anything on point. Album art loads fine from itunes to the ipod. as long as i'm using the ipod regularly, there's no problem.
but, if i don't use it for awhile, some of the album art has disappeared. More album art disappears if i wait longer b/t uses (i think). This is where you turn on your ipod and you get that apple screen, then after a while the normal first screen comes up (play lists, artists, albums, etc.).
Any ideas on why this is happening and what i can do to fix it? I'm running the latest itunes and the latest ipod updater (1-10-2006 i think). It's a 30gb color ipod.
    thanks!
    jeff

You didn't mentioned the last version of iTunes ... I had a similar problem with album art but after installing iTunes 6.0.3 (with iPod updater 2006-01-10) and going thru the drill of deselecting and selecting "Display album artwork in your iPod" everything was fine.
    Hope this works.

  • Album art work

iPad music album art work disappeared after sync iTunes on my PC
Recently I synced my iPad with iTunes on my PC and after that when I open the Music player on my iPad, the art work of the albums have disappeared. It just shown as blank album. The songs are intact, just the art work is not visible.
Please let me know if you have experienced similar issue and was able to resolve.

    Hi,
I could solve this problem myself. Basically I had transferd (downloded) all my purchases to my PC. This also downloaded all the album art work as well. Next I went into Music Player on my iPad and deleted albums one by one (by pressing and holding each album you get a "x" icon). Once all albums were deleted from my music player, I re-synced my iPad with iTunes on my PC. All the songs and album art work came back.

  • Album Art Deleted with iOS 8 Update

This is a minor annoyance, but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this.
After updating to iOS (OTA upgrade), some of my album art has disappeared. It appears to be music that I purchased or downloaded from iTunes, mostly songs that were purchased in the last month or two. Album artwork that I manually downloaded or put in place is still there. I thought maybe it was just a glitch with the update, so I plugged my phone into my computer and synced with iTunes, and still nothing. I even tried removing the album artwork and then adding manually, then syncing, but still nothing.
Anyone else experience this, and is there a way to sync artwork to the phone? It shows up fine in iTunes, so I'm not sure why it's showing up as blank in the Music app.

Weirdly enough, the problem has gotten worse. I bought the iPhone 6, then set it up as a new phone. My music syncs ... except for a couple of tracks (seems to be whatever is playing in iTunes at the moment, but not always). Then, on the next sync, it'll sync about 2000 songs...and then a new batch will be missing. It's just a few songs missing each time, but it randomly changes on each sync. Also 2000 songs haven't been changed since the last sync, so I don't know what it's doing. Selecting "Manually manage" seems to help, but I like the sync to be automatic and in the background. My phone is connected to the computer by USB, not WiFi.
iOS problem, cable problem (using the one that came with the phone), or phone problem?

  • About a month ago, most of the Album art on my iPod just up and disappeared.

So, about a month ago, for no apparent reason at all, almost all of the album art on all of the music on my iPod just disappeared and was replaced by the default white art. It even happened to most of my purchased music! As time passed, some of it gradually re-appeared, which is really weird, but most of it is still gone. I have 174 albums on my ipod and about only 1/4 of them have art. Before this problem happened, almost every single album had art. I meticulously spend HOURS adding really nice album art to the music on my iPod, and then this happens.
I'm genuinely quite upset. I use my iPod a LOT and have put a lot of money into Apple. A problem like this should not be happening. I'm actually very tech-savvy (going to be getting a CS degree) but this problem baffles me at every turn and it's extremely frustrating.
So, last night, I tried to fix the problem again. I made an album in my music folder and added the proper information to each song, with an album cover (500X500 - all of my album art is 500X500) in the folder where the songs reside. I then plug my iPod in and open iTunes. I then go into file and add the album to my iTunes library, and then I go to the songs and add the album cover to their information via the "add artwork" submenu of the get info on the songs. I then sync the songs to my iPod normally, and the album art shows up on them. Great. Wonderful.
I then think, "Oh, maybe I can fix all of my OTHER album art manually!".
So I go to my artists on my iPod and find an album titled Asteroid (it's a song by Rameses B) which doesn't have a cover but should. I deleted it off of my iPod. I then plugged my iPod back into my computer and tried to re-sync the song Asteroid back onto my iPod but nothing happened. It WOULD NOT, and I mean WOULD NOT sync that **** song to my iPod. It just sat there like I never did anything at all. My method of syncing is that I find the song and drag-drop it to the iPod menu on the right side of my screen.
So then I kind of gave up for the night. It was midnight and I was done with this **** after trying to get that song to sync for at least 20 minutes.
So I eject the iPod from my computer (SAFELY) and close iTunes normally, bla bla bla, go to sleep.
I get up this morning and go to my music app and ALL OF MY ALBUM ART ON EVERYTHING IS GONE. *POOF*, gone. Including the songs that I'd synced last night! What the ****! How does that even happen?!
    Some more information:
I'm running Windows 7 with a fully updated iTunes. My iPod is fully updated as well. As in iOS 7.1.0, non-Beta. It's an iPod touch 5th generation.
So, my question is, how the heck do I get my album art back on my darn iPod?! I have tried manually re-syncing individual songs after deleting them off of my iPod and they won't re-sync. I have also tried re-syncing my entire music library to my iPod, and the result was the same as before. Most of the album art didn't transfer to the iPod.
I'm extremely frustrated at this point. I'm at the very verge of jailbreaking this thing and iFunbox-ing all of my album art over to it forcefully. If Apple can't fix my problem, I will. I'm at that point right now.
    Please help.
Thank you so much in advance.

  • Album Art Not Displaying/Disappearing

I've had the iTouch for a week & all of a sudden most of the album art disappeared from the iTouch. I synced again, some came back but much of the album art does not display even though it's in the iTunes library. Also, album art is duplicated for other/different artists. What's happening? Any solutions?

This is also happening to me.
First the album art vanished, and then I would resync, and the album art would go to different albums.
my Breaking Benjamin album art went on my Frank Sinatra album, and my Gnarls Barkley album.
My 50 Cent album art went to the Brad paisley album, and the Rufus Wainwright album .This is doing this, even after I updated the iPod.

  • Disappearing album art!!HELP!

All info like computer and such is at bottom.
I was just getting some new music and putting it on my iPod, like I always do. I unplug it regularily (at least..I think)but I notice the Apple pops up before it goes back to my regular iPod. (the apple you see when you restart your iPod)The menu is the standard one you get when you first get the iPod, not my custom one. And when I go to my Cover Art, all of it has disappeared!Absolutely nothing!!
If anyone can help, I would SO appreaciate it!

Okay, so I found the answer to my own post so I thought I'd share it for anyone else who had the same problem. When you plug in your iPod, under Music there is a box that has to do with saving album art. Uncheck it, and save it. Then, recheck it and save. If this doesn't work for you the first time, DON'T GIVE UP!! It took me quite a few tries before I got it.

  • Music's Album Art Disappeared

Music's album art disappeared. All of it. And I didn't even sync it or update it or anything. This just happened randomly in the middle of my day.
After I synced it to my computer, it disappeared from there too.
    So, like, what the f?
And can I get it back somehow? Or do I have to re-look up artwork for 3,000+ songs and re-upload them one by one?

Sounds very weird and talk about unintended results ...
By the by restoring the ipod is not a bid deal (although takes some time).
How about this (have not tried it) and assuming you still have artwork on your music library in itunes. Turn on manual synch mode once the ipod is connected. You should see the list of songs you actually have on the ipod. Delete every song and synch (I know, it will take time since you have 4000 + songs). and then turn back automatic synch and re-synch. May be once in manual mode, you could try re-synchinig only a portion of your library to see if it works That's the best I can think of.

  • Album art disappears from ipod touch

Album art for both complete albums and single songs often disappears from the device when uploading new music. However, the art work still appears when you look at the individual songs; i.e., when the device is connected to the computer, you open iTunes, highlight a song and click Apple-I > Artwork.
Also, song order for albums and playlists often gets thrown out of whack. Songs ends up alphabetized.

I just thought about if the music file recognize the song on iTunes store OR every song file that you have album art on then that should be no problem, the only problem is when some of the music/song which is not from iTunes store or they don't have any information for the song, so that will not have album art show up on any of your ipod device unless you add the album art yourself on iTunes when you import song into your iTunes from the file in your computer.

  • My album art on my iphone 5 keeps disappearing

Anyone know why or how my album artwork on my iphone 5 keeps disappearing off of my phone? It has happened twice now. Its all there then i hook up to my computer to import more music then when i eject all the artwork that was there is gone. Its driving my nuts. How do I get it back?

Same here, exactly. Lots of other people are having the same issues with album art.  It faults with movies too.
    It's a software fault.
Apple don't care and have no intention of fixing it.
    They've got our money already.
I suggest you go to an Apple store and create a fuss.
That's what I'm going to do.

  • Some of my album art disappeared after downloading iOS 8?

I checked my iTunes library after downloading the new update and I discovered that a ton of the album art on my songs are gone. When I went onto iTunes today to restore them, (I already know how to do that) it appeared that all of the art was fine. I synced my device for good measures. I went to check on my library once more, but I found that it was still the same, all blank. I tried once more and some were restored, but still a majority were blank. I know it's not a big deal, but I'm a sucker for everything all set and ready.

  • Any idea why my album art disappeared?

I'm new to this whole podcasting thing. My first episode went up with no issue. When I went to check for my second episode, I noticed it updated. But my album art was missing on the iTunes store. I thought it might have been cause I deleted the image from where it was being hosted. I checked and that wasn't the case. Though It might have been cause I put the image incorrectly into the second episode. So I ended up mixing it down and re submitting it. No dice. But I notice my album art is still there on things like stitcher. Help?

    Thanks

    Your feed is actually at
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/AzerothPrespective
(note that you managed to spell it wrongly somehow, so you are stuck with that - it's only the URL so it doesn't matter).
The image is correctly referenced and is on the server, so it's just a matter of waiting for the Store to sort itself out. Several people have complained about this sort of thing recently, so there may be some sort of hiccup going on.
