how do i put album art with a song?

In iTunes go to Edit>Show artwork and a pane will open below yor source list. Click on the song you want the artwork against then locate the artwork file you want to add and drag it to the pane. You can find many more iTunes "HowTo" tips here: http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/howto/

  • Does iTunes take album art with it from computer to computer?

I am going to transfer my entire iTunes library to a new computer in a few weeks. Will iTunes automatically take all my album art with it to the new computer, or will I have to have to find it all again?
I listen to mainly classical music, so iTunes has a hard time finding most of my album art. It was a painstaking process of searching amazon.com for hours to get most of the album covers...I'd hate to have to do it again.
Thanks in advance to anyone who has experience with this!

I'm resurrecting this old thread because the question wasn't answered and I face the same problem. I want to copy my music from my external HD to an internal HD and want the album artwork I've painstaking downloaded from Amazon and other sources (cduniverse, google image search, etc) to be preserved. By "album artwork", I mean that I've dragged the image into the album artwork box in the lower-left of the iTunes window - I haven't embedded it into each individual track's ID3 tag area.
Using "consolidate library" followed by an iTunes-initiated copy isn't what I want. Let me explain why.
Currently my large collection of MP3's is on an external H.D. but doesn't live in the iTunes folder. The top-level folders are -
    \iTunes
    \My Music\_A-D
    \My Music\_E-J
    \My Music\_M-R
    \My Music\_S-Z
    \My Music\CLASSICAL
    \My Music\SOUNDTRACKS
    \My Music\VARIOUS
... and under each top-level folder there are artist\album folders containing the actual music.
If I consolidate, everything will be merged into artist\album format under iTunes, which will me more of a pain to navigate outside of iTunes. Instead, I want to preserve the current \My Music structure.
Right now I keep the \iTunes folder and \My Music on the external HD which I mount as "T:" under Windows XP SP2 on my home PC, my laptop, or my office PC. That way iTunes works fine in all three places. But I'd like to copy the whole library onto the internal "E:" drive of my home machine or my office machine and have the library look like it does now, with artwork intact.
But I'm pretty sure if I just do the copy that I'll lose all the album artwork, since it must reference files on the external HD T:\[etc] explicitly, which won't exist when I copy the database to the internal HD E:\[etc] and eject the external HD.
Does anyone know how to do this? Are there 3rd-party tools which can re-reference the album artwork database before or after the copy?

  • Blurry album art with iTunes 11

So i got very blurry album art with iTunes 11. It seems to scale album art wrongly with my screens resolution, which is 1920x1080.
When i make iTunes smaller the album art is fine and not blurry.
I didn't have this problem with 10.7 as it had the slider for customizing album art size.
So what can I do to change this?

What is the competition you're referring to?
I use itunes as a database and a jukebox.I embedded thousands of jpegs into my HUGE itunes library so that while I'm playing a music file I can see who's playing what.In the earlier version of itunes I could have all the information as well as all the music in one place on one external hard drive.
The ability to expand front and back lp covers or scroll thru the entire cd booklet is a great feature that iTunes has now eliminated. My project using itunes was to completely digitize my music collection-all the music files and all the lp covers/cd booklets etc. I have spent the last five years at least working on this.Luckily I have all my jpegs in a separate folder outside of itunes so my endless scanning has not been totally in vain.I know better than to put all my eggs in one basket...
Please tell me what program or software can do what iTunes used to do and I will gladly use it.
Or if apple would offer the earlier versions of iTunes(with the eliminated features) for power users like me that might be better than nothing.
Eventually when I get a new mac I will be forced to use the current version of itunes,I won't have a choice....
Maybe by then, the competion will come up with what I'm looking for... thanks for reading.

  • Album arts with sharecenter pulse dns 320

    Hello
first I love the new itunes 11 but i have one little issue and maybe someone knows the answer to it,
i Have itunes 11 and e NAS, D-Link Sharecenter pulse dns-320, everything works fine except the album arts, none of the arts are visible in de little tiles, when i click large it does show (see image), anyone has the same problem, or knows a solution

    Try these troubleshooting steps:
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] In that setup page reduce the MTU size to 1400 from auto. Save the settings
4] Click the security tab and uncheck 'Filter Anonymous Internet Requests' and SPI firewall..Save the settings..
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.
Then check the wireless connection status.

  • Album art with subscription serv

I am going to buy the Zen Vision M this month. I currently have the Rhapsody to Go subscription music service ( I used to have a Zen Xtra ). With Rhapsody, your selected music transfers to your player using Rhapsody's transfer program. My question is, after I transfer music to the player using Rhapsody, can I then use Windows Media Player to customize what album art appears with each song?

bump?sorry for the bump, but I am really interested in whether or not this is possible.

  • No more album art with iTunes 9

    Hi
Since i upgraded to iTunes 9, iTunes won't find ANY of album covers.
When i connect to iTunes store, i can not even find records ...
Anyone facing the same issue ?

Yes me too. I have searched the www and found so many different stories but acknowledgement by Apple. Was it a legal license issue? Did they switch database providers and it is a matter of time to iron out some wrinkles? Strangely some of my iTunes 8 artwork which was correct (Michael Jackson--Number Ones) has now been changed to some artist and cover artwork which is not accurate. Others that were previously present from downloading are now removed and unavailable. Fine but why did upgrade delete all my playlists? Bulletin boards are full of complaints and problems but no solutions. Where is Apple on this issue? Even if problems can not be avoided or fixed immediately some posting or acknowledgement and solutions in the works would be encouraging. At a time when Windows 7 is coming out this is not good P.R. Apple.

  • Resolution of album arts associated with audio files - downscaled?

The iPod can display album art with a maximum resolution of 240 by 240 pixels. What happens if a picture file of higher resolution is associated with some audio tracks?
Is it being downscaled and then, with far less space required, transfered to the device?
And another question unrelated to the one above: I saw the font size changing between audio files, although their file name or description isn't longer than the ones being displayed regularly. Is this a bug?
Is there a way to change the font size? It'd be very handy since titles of tracks that are longer than the screen can display, it's a mess to wait until it scrolled all the way through...
    Thanks!

    Hello dr. orange,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Is it being downscaled and then, with far less space required, transfered to the device?
That is correct. During the syncing process, a smaller scaled down version of each track's artwork is created and then transferred to the iPod.
I'm not entirely sure about the font size issue you are seeing, but there is no way to adjust this on the Nano.
If you wish to, you can provide feedback to Apple on it through this link.

    Hope this helps.

  • Album art still missing in Remote with 8.1

I'm still not getting album art with the latest version of Remote (the one that came with iOS 8.1). C'mon, what's wrong?

Your comment omit a point, you focus on itunes but the Finder is involved too here. I haven't seen in your post that you mention you get the info on each mp3 or other format in the Finder, not in itunes. This can fix the thing in the Finder and if in the file info panel you don't see the cover then it's not in the mp3.
The second point I notice is that you aren't using the same manipulation to add the cover than I do. You should try like I do :
I double clic on the cover file, this opens it in the viewer. Then select all to select the picture, copy and then paste in the area where you are used to drag the file. As I already mentionned the problem is to duplicate the cover inside each mp3 of an album, but that way the cover is right into the file and the Finder or itunes or any application knows where find it in the file.
The third point I notice is that you are using ALAC but I never use that format, only mp3 and few m4a (aac). Perhaps there's specific problems with ALAC files.
About a problem from age it's more about people that use itunes to download the cover but itunes never added it in the mp3. Then the user copy the file elsewhere but without any cover. Myself I do notice that often because I buy many CD and few albums on itunes and then itunes get automatically the cover but doesn't store it in the mp3/aac. Then I copy the files on another drive where I have a more organized music and then notice the mp3 don't have anymore the cover if I haven't done the manipulation I mentionned above.
For a file named cover.something in the same folder than a track, it's not a standard allowing knows what's the cover for the mp3.

  • IPod Will Not Display In My Compuater unless updating and album art.

Okay, when I plug my Ipod into my computer now it doesnt seem to immediatly recognise it. It takes a few minutes. When it does finally catch my IPod is not adding with any of my new songs the album art with it. It was also saying that ITunes Artwork file temp 2 was corrupt or something. I just want to get this problem solved before my 3 months are up cause its coming in two weeks.

    Have you Restored it?
just want to get this problem solved before my 3 months are up cause its coming in two weeks.
The iPod comes with a one year warranty.
You get one telephone support issue in the 90 days (meaning you ca call that one issue within the 90 days) and get it solved.
You have one year in which to have it repaired/replaced under waranty.
    You can post here forever.

  • Adding scanned art for Album Art

I followed the itunes help on this topic and checked out some of the previous threads about album art with no real solutions to my problem:
I am using iTunes 7 and my brother just recorded an indie album which I added to my iTunes library. I then scanned the CD cover and made two copies:
a .psd file of 250x249 pixels
a .jpg file of 250x249 pixels
The iTunes Help says to command-click each item in the album, choose "Get Info" and then drag and drop the art into the little artwork box in the window. That kind of works. The file appears in the little window, but when I close the "Get Info" window on those items, the album art is not there. I also tried Browsing to the file with the same results. I tried both the JPG and the PSD file.
I also tried dragging the file from my desktop onto a single file and that won't "stick" at all. If I have a single song selected and try to drag the file from the desktop to the album art viewer, it won't go at all. It just "bounces" back to its spot on the desktop.
Is there a certain file type or size? I am the administrator of the computer. I tried things like ejecting the CD before dropping the art work on and I tried changing the iTunes view from the new "album art carousel" look to the standard iTunes view.
    What could be wrong? Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
There really is no standard file size, however, "less is plenty" applies. Jpeg is sufficient, and since it's basically for screen resolution on either the monitor or iPod, then the file sizes you mention are more than sufficient.
Odd, the artwork is not sticking. I usually copy/paste into the Artwork panel for a single selection. Multiple selections are similar to what you tried - drag/drop to the artwork panel, which automatically checks the box to the left of the panel. Upon selecting OK, iTunes updates the album or multiple selections (usually taking 20 seconds or so).
Might try moving the com.apple.iTunes.plist file in your User Library>Preferences folder to the desktop and restarting iTunes. You may have a corrupted preference file. On the restart, iTunes creates a new preference file. See if the artwork functionality is restored. If not, return the file to its original location. If the artwork placement does work, then you'll need to restore any custom iTunes preferences.
    Post back with results.

  • Black Album Art Appearing

I've got an Ipod Classic 80gb. I've went through great lengths to put album art with each song but for some songs even though the art shows up fine in iTunes it only displays as a black square on my iPod. Does anyone know why it's doing this and how to fix it?
    TIA
    Rose

Likely a corruption in the artwork database. If you uncheck the box to display artwork on the iPod, sync, reselect it, and resync all of your artwork should appear on the iPod. I've had individual pieces of album artwork show up as a black square, but never the entire library.
If you just have a few albums (or tracks) with black artwork, you can try removing the artwork in iTunes for just those tracks, sync, add the artwork back, and resync.

  • Double tap on locked screen doesn't bring up controls when no album art

I think this is a bug, can others confirm please? It's pretty easy to test. Using the iPod Touch 4th gen 32 GB with iOS 4.1. When playing music, and the screen is locked and turned off, double-tapping the home button brings up the music controls only when there is album art with the song. If there's no album art (only the home background shows, the controls don't come up with double-tapping. You have to triple-tap in this case (one to bring up the "slide to unlock" screen, and two to bring the music controls).

it's the same with iOS 4.2. Does this not annoy anyone else? Triple tap just to change songs is kind of annoying.

  • How does the album art work?

    Hey there!
How do you associate album art with songs? is there a naming convetion that i should know about?

    Hi Tudor,
You need to first scan in and add the album artwork to your iTunes library before it will be synchronized with your iPod Nano.
To do this, firstly scan in an image of the album artwork that you wish to associate with your songs in jpeg format. Then open up iTunes, search for the album, select all of the songs and drag the album artwork file into the small white box under your playlists in the left-hand corner of your screen.
If the box isn't showing you may need to enable it using the 'View' menu (I think). Sorry I'm not in front of my computer at the moment.
You can also quickly find artwork files by using
    images.google.com
Hope this helps. If not, let me know and I will provide you with more detailed step-by-step instructions.
