Album artwork appears in itunes but not ipod nano....please help
some songs have album artwork (the ones i purchased from itunes and downloaded from cds) but the ones i got from my sister's computer with itunes will not show the album artwork even though it's in itunes.....please help if you can
The same thing is happening with me. I don't know what to do. I have some album art on my ipod but most doesn't show up. I am so frusterated. I hope you figure it out.

Hello all, I have a 30g video ipod and am having trouble getting the album artwork to show up. In itunes I have clicked the show or hide album art button and when I click ipod in the source list and play the song I have loaded the album art onto I can see it in the bottom left. I have also clicked the options button and the display album art box is checked. The artwork still doesnt show on my ipod.
Is there something else I need to do to get it to work?

Windows XP Windows XPYes, it is safe. You're simply putting your iPod back to its original state as it was when new. To do this, you should have an 'iPod Software Updater' folder somewhere either in your Control Panel or simply on Drive C. I'm on a Mac and its in my applications folder.
Anyhow, when you find the folder, just open it up and you'll see your iPod update files. Choose the most recent one and double click. It will then give you the option to "restore" your iPod to its original state. Once you do this, your iPod will be completely erased and you can start from scratch.

ITunes purchase plays in iTunes but not iPod nano
I apologize if this question has been answered and I was unable to find it in a couple of minutes of searching this site and the iTunes help.
I recently bought a 2GB iPod nano. Initially I just used it to listen to MP3s I already had, but recently I bought a song from the iTunes store. I can listen to the song using iTunes / my computer. I can put it in a playlist and sync that playlist with my nano. I can "see" the song on the nano playlist, but when the nano goes to play the song it hesitates for a moment and then goes to the next song.
I have the latest iTunes, the latest iPod software, and I have done a restore to the nano and the nano still won't play the song.
I'm guessing the fix is real obvious, and I simply can't figure it out. Can someone point me in the proper direction?

Dell Latitude Windows XP ProIf you have made sure that both the iTunes and iPod software are current and have deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, try this test:
1. Deauthorize the computer.
2. Create a new user in the system.
3. Download the free song of the week from the iTMS in the new user account.
4. Play the song in that user account to authorize again.
5. Restore the iPod (using the iPod updater) in the new user account.
6. Sync just the free song of the week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it does, you appear to have a corrupted iTunes library file, and you should recreate the iTunes library file in your normal user account, and then sync your music back to the iPod and all should be well.

Why does the album artwork show in itunes but not on my iphone?
When im in itunes all the artwork shows but when i sync it not all of the artwork comes up on my iphone.
I guess I have successfully solved that. Somehow predicted this problem's appearance and added a function of ID3 tags version conversion. Just convert all of your mp3 files' tags to version 2.4. worked for me, now bitrate gets downgraded and artwork is safe.
p.s.: some of the artwork (especially files that originally were higher bitrate AAC converted to 128 kbit/s) won't show the artwork in the artist or album list at first. just play any of such songs and artwork will show up. -
How do you get album artwork? I have like two thousand songs and about 95% don't have cover album artwork and when i try to get album artwork it says "Itunes can not find album artwork" "an unknown error occurred-609" what do i do?

After having experienced similar problems and having it back to work, I have a few suggestions:
- Try to find out if the syncing stops at a particular track or song. That might - out of the blue - have gotten corrupted in one way or another. Since that song will not be on the iPod, iTunes will try over and over to put it on and crash in one way or another;
- reformat the iPod as described in the iTunes 9 crash-thread. It takes time (at first it seems to do nothing, but that is because the green bar is moving with very small steps);

Sorry, but Apple does not provide a downgrade path for iOS.
Because downgrading is unsupported by Apple we cannot discuss it on these forums, but you can use Google to find information on how to install an older version of iOS on any device.

You probably need to either uninstall and reinstall itunes or to download the apple application support by itself

Problems with artwork displaying in iTunes but not on iPod screen
I have iTunes (7.6) and a 5th gen, 80GB, firmware 1.2.3 iPod.
Not infrequently, I find that a song's artwork is visible in iTunes, but not on the iPod itself. Sometimes the artwork is displayed simply as a black rectangle on the iPod.
The converse situation also sometimes happens - when album info is retrieved from the CDDB, sometimes album artwork is also retrieved - but this is not displayed in the iTunes software, only on the iPod.
And yes, the "Display album artwork on your iPod" checkbox is selected in iTunes.
Does anyone have any more info about this?
Are there any restrictions on image file formats? Maximum size? Type? Interlaced or not?

It is an irritating problem, cos there's no way to check what the artwork looks like on the iPod without disconnecting it from my PC :/OK to drag this thread back on topic:
I think the "sync" thing is irrelevant anyways.
What I tried in the end was viewing my iPod in iTunes,
navigating through to the check box for "display album artwork",
UNcheck it, and click apply.
At this point, iTunes said, with NO confirmation "Are you sure?" dialog, "DELETING ARTWORK ON iPOD" !! :-O I was not pleased
However I then re-selected the "display album artwork" box and clicked Apply. The process took about 10 minutes to complete.
When I then disconnected the iPod, the black squares were gone, and the artwork was NOT deleted (phew!) and was displaying correctly. I was pleased
The amount of "other" megabytes on the display in iTunes for my iPod's contents had shrunk.
I dunno what all this actually did - are the artwork files embedded in the MP4 files on the iPod? Or are they stored seperately and linked to them?
I'm wondering if the "black square" thing is caused by an MP4 having an embedded image, and there also being a conflicting image file elsewhere on the hard drive? But this is just guessing. -

I recently purchased a new iPod Classic and am having a problem with the album artwork.
When I have the iPod connected to iTunes (iTunes 12) and am on the iPod classic tab the album artwork is all perfectly fine and on the iPod but as soon as i disconnect the iPod, most of the artwork disappears and it is severely bugging me.
i dont know if it is a problem with iTunes or the iPod but I desperately need help!Well, that's frustrating. I've already added artwork for hundreds of albums. And what's more, the downloaded-to-iPod artwork was visible for a while. It only stopped after I upgraded to a newer version of software (eitehr iTunes or iPod--can't remember which).

That happened to me too. The only way I could "fix" it was to restore my ipod, I've only just got mine a couple of days and I only had to re-load 3.5gb of mp3s but it was all I could think of.
I have noticed that when you right click on a song in itunes and select the "get info" box to paste lyrics and artwork, when you click the next or previous buttons and then go back to the original location the lyrics or artwork entered is sometimes missing, it's like it just doesn't write the information to the file, you have to paste, hit next and previous a few times to swap between tracks to make sure the information is retained.
