Album artwork changed suddenly

Hey peeps, have a question, maybe someone has had to deal with this? I went through 10 pages on this forum and also did a search on the specific problem I'm dealing with without finding a solution.
Purchased album / singles artwork changed recently without any action from my part. Example: I purchased the album "Sospiri" by soprano Cecilia Bartoli. Obviously the cover is something appropriate for opera. To my surprise, every single song today had been replaced with a picture of a bear (I am not kidding) for an obscure movie called "Quigley". I have nothing like that on my iTunes library. Another example: Enrique Iglesias' "I Like It" suddenly shows up with Gloria Estefan's greatest hits cover. And yet another: The XX's iTunes Festival live EP shows up with one of Beyoncé's albums cover.
I didnt do anything to trigger these changes. I have looked for the source of this problem on iTunes's preferences pane but I have the "Automatically download missing artwork" unchecked.
Can someone shed any light on this situation?
Much appreciated.

I originaly had all of my artwork, some came with the albums, others I had to spend ages finding a suitable image and copying into the info section of each album. Recently half of it disappeared and not following any pattern i.e. some purchased, some home ripped also gone!!
I really hate these companies who, on making vast amounts of money, cant deliver but more importantly change things for the worse without any choice to the customer.
ANy ideas to solve my problem would be grateful....

  • Album artwork changed to "generic" images after trasfer from XP to Win7

I recentlly got a new Windows 7 pc, and I used a Belkin Easy transfer cable with my old Windows XP pc.
This transfered all my iTunes songs, but changed the album artwork to generic images, and not the orginal
artwork.  I've triied get album artwork, but it dosn't change the image.
Is there a way to remove the artwork?
Has anyone else had this problem?

I tried what you recommended and really see no difference. Let me add something that may help. When I installed Thunderbird on the Win 7 PC it did create a profile (but obviously with a different name from the one created on XP). The changes I mentioned making was to point the Win 7 version to use the profile from XP. But I just thought of one thing, on Win 7 the path would use AppData but on XP it would be Application Data. I think that because if does not have the same path names it does not see the Outlook folder. So if the Thunderbird on my Win 7 PC is not fixable, what is the best way to transfer the profile and all my old folders from XP over to Win 7?

  • Album artwork changes

I have recently tried to change the album artwork for an episode of Dr. Who I purchase from itunes. Itunes got the artwork for the episode wrong (i.e. the two doctors is the episode but the artwork is from the fox doctor who movie made almost a decade later). So I tried to cut and paste artwork from the actual episode of the two doctors into the appropriate "artwork" tab in the itunes file for this episode. The artwork shows up fine in the slide deck on the itunes application, but I still get the old artwork in the apple tv slide deck. The video file is being streamed to my apple tv so I don't know if that complicates the issue.
    Regards,
Dr. Whovian fan (classic and new series)

did you remove the old artwork from the file? or did you just add the correct artwork to the file ? (the latter would result in the file having 2 artwork files).
if you removed the incorrect artwork from it, then make sure you click the "sync" button in itunes (even though you are streaming) as this will force appletv to see the changes.

  • Suddenly my new itouch shows the incorect album artwork for some songs, but only on teh device - the itunes library on ym computer is correct.  I did resync but non change.  any ideas on how to get it to match again?

Got my new itouch and after some minor issue syncing, i was able to get everything set up.  However I  just noticed that soem of the album artwork is not matched up to the song that is currently playing.  I also sometimes, after syncing, I get a message stating "iTunes unable to load data class information from Sync Services.  Reconnect or try again later."    Any ideas on hwo to get the artwork realigned to the correct songs?

Try this, it has worked for me.
    1. Make a new, empty iTune library by launching iTunes while holding down the Option key.
    2. Choose create new library; do NOT have iTunes scan for music.
    3. Enable iTunes Match on the empty library.
    4. Find the tracks with the wrong artwork, highlight them, Get Info and paste the correct artwork into the "artwork" field.
    5. When finished update iTunes Match, then re-launch iTunes while holding down the Option key and chose select library to get back to the "master" library.

Why did I suddenly lose all of the album artwork on my iPad

You have to work this out with iTunes Support.
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
You can change the country in the next screen in the upper left if needed. Click on Contact iTunes Store Support under the iTunes Store heading at the top right side of the page. Then click on Purchase, Billing & Redemption in the next screen and follow the prompts.

  • How can I edit/change/update/remove album artwork for a song in iCloud?

    Dear Community,
    my problem is the following.
I'm editing my songs/albums artworks and when I change these artworks, iTunes Match syncs my artworks back to the original ones.
I've tried a lot of things, read a lot of discussions but I didn't find a solution for this problem.
    For example:
I've deleted for an album all of my songs artworks, then set the good one. Then I've done an update for iTunes Match in Store menu. My artworks didn't changed on an Apple TV2
If I just delete the artworks, do an iTunes Match upgrade, the artworks on an iPhone 4S & Apple TV2 remains the same (I've also removed the songs from my iPhone and redownloaded them...)
I used TuneUp iTunes plugin for song identifying. It did a very good job, changed my artworks, my metadata, everything looked good. After a few minutes iTunes Match synced, the artworks restored to the old ones, but the metadata info didn't changed, it is updated in iCloud too.
I'm also tried to get artworks from iTunes, it worked very well for some albums, but again: iTunes Match synced...
I've turned off iTunes Match, done the album editing. Again when I've turned on iTunes Match, the album artworks restored..
In my opinion if I use a cloud service, anything I do locally in my iTunes library, it should sync up to the cloud. EVERYTHING means music, music metadata, music artwork etc.
    So what is the solution?
What can be the reason all of this?
    Someone has the same issue?
    Is it a bug?
    One more thing
In this album all of my songs has the same artwork (David Guetta: One Love)
Look at the BRAVO hits cover

Try this, it has worked for me.
    1. Make a new, empty iTune library by launching iTunes while holding down the Option key.
    2. Choose create new library; do NOT have iTunes scan for music.
    3. Enable iTunes Match on the empty library.
    4. Find the tracks with the wrong artwork, highlight them, Get Info and paste the correct artwork into the "artwork" field.
    5. When finished update iTunes Match, then re-launch iTunes while holding down the Option key and chose select library to get back to the "master" library.

  • Why is my album artwork suddenly missing?

I appologize that this has been asked before but I am so confused as to why there don't seem to be any answers on here that reliably solve the problem. Is iphone technology really that complicated and mysterious? I feel like it's about to become self aware or something.
Anyway, my album art on my iphone 4s seems to have suddenly gone missing. But not in a predictable way. It seemed like it started when I had to unplug my phone during a recent sync. I have been reimporting my albums and I was syncing the latest batch to the phone and underestimated how much time it would take. Or possibly it was hung up on one of the steps. Honestly I'm not totally sure. But I noticed the albums I had just recently modified still had art but a lot of the rest was gone. To clarify, however, at that time some of the album art was totally missing and some was only missing in the album view. When I clicked on the albums or played them the art would be there.
I discovered that deleting the albums one (or several) at a time and resyncing seemed to bring them back but then my usb cable got bumped and the sync interrupted and it started all over. So I finally just manually deleted all the music and resynced. Which took about 22 hours. But not all of the art was back that time.
I have since tried hard resetting, converting the id3 tags to that higher number that is suggested and resyncing, restoring to an earlier date before this started happening. To no avail.
I have over 7000 songs all with meticulously picked out album art. Some is from itunes and the stuff that was wrong or didn't have any I got from the web. I realize it's a not so important problem but it's really not just about OCD. It's easier for me to pick out what I want to listen to when I see the artwork.
Frankly, I wish the recently added and the purchased playist would arrange by album so I could look at the covers. But that's a separate issue.
Anyway, currently I have maybe 10% of my art showing and what's not there is completely gone rather than just the thumbnail missing. Some of it is from albums I downloaded and some I found on google. And it seems everytime I do something new, different art is missing.
It's just so bizarre and random.
I would really like to figure out why this is happening. Is there no high upper big cheese who might know? I'm pretty certain the apple store would be of no help to me, as they have yet to solve a single technical problem I've come in with in the past.
I've briefly considered itunes match due to the fact that my collection is now even larger in volume since I reimported the whole CD collection (I had a lot of corrupted, skipping songs) which were mostly in 128 from the original import long ago, and it no longer would all fit on the phone. I have been converting to the 192 bit rate to sync but I believe that is why it takes so long. When I synced some selected playlists without converting it took about 12 times less time than it would have if I had converted.
Anyway I'm just a little put off by the thought of paying to listen to my own music (AGAIN - I already bought the phone for that privelege and the songs themselves) which I might not have access to at all times (subject to cell/wireless service), possibly having to download those songs to the phone before listening (???), and that my album art, from what I've read, would likely still not be correct. If anyone has any better information I'm interested to hear it.
Or some ideas of how to maintain access to all my well organized music despite the size. I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that one day apple santa will bring us a 128gb phone which will solve one of my problems at least. For now I'd just like the art back the way it was a couple weeks ago.

Try unchecking "display album artwork" in the music preferences section when your iPod is connected and click "apply". Then sync your iPod.
Then check "display album artwork" in the music preferences section when youd iPod is connected and click "apply". Then sync your iPod again.
This should resync the album artwork to the iPod.
If this does not work, you might need to restore the iPod and reload the songs in order to correct this error.
See: How to restore the iPod to factory settings.

  • Itunes 10.6.3 - Just update to the new Itunes and the album artwork is not sticking anymore... I upload the artwork and when I change songs and go back the art is gone. Anyone with similar issue ?

Itunes 10.6.3 - Just update to the new Itunes and the album artwork is not sticking anymore... I upload the artwork and when I change songs and go back the art is gone. Anyone with similar issue ?

I have this issue.  Album artwork was totally fine before.  After this update, it is all messed up and even got messed up when transferred to my iphone.
iTunes doesn't have the artwork anymore, but then iPhone has it but shows wrong artwork with wrong albums.
    Please fix!

  • How do you change the album artwork size in the new itunes

I just downloaded the laterst version of itunes, and I can't figure out how to change the size of the album artwork in the grid...I like to be able to see all of my albums at once, so I usually view them in the smallest size, but I can't figure out how to change that.

I've been playing with this and discovered it has to do with your personal ratings (ie stars) for albums and songs - seems iTunes now selects the highest rated album to use for the Artist icon. If you have no ratings it seems (but not always) to select the most recent album/song to use fo rthe display.
I've been able to get iTunes to use specific album artowk by rating both the album and all individual tracks as 5 star. You may need to restart iTunes for the changes to take effect.
But I'd be much happier just telling iTunes which image to use - like we used to be able to do. Yet another step backwards for iTunes 11 (one of many).

  • How do I stop iTunes changing my album artwork?

I do not want iTunes changing my album artwork. I spend a lot of time getting this right. iTunes 12.01 has started messing with this, substituting new artwork and removing what I put there. How do I stop this happening?

    Hi Alan,
I have always kept this option unchecked. I've looked again just now and the option has remained unchecked. For some reason iTunes 'selected' 4 (that I've noticed) out of my 1775 albums and did its automatic update anyway. I guess this is a bug in the latest version, perhaps during the updating process.
I've changed the album art back to what I want and will keep an eye on them. I'll feed back to this thread if iTunes changes the art again.
Thanks for getting back to me,
    Phil

  • Artist name/album artwork won't change on my ipod 4g

After I change the artist names and album artwork on itunes and then press "sync", they should be changed right away on my ipod, right? THEY DO NOT GET CHANGED. does this syncing problem (or a slow reaction prob) only occuring to me? I called the customer service today and they simply told me to restore it. I tried restoring my ipod more than three times because of this. Is there any solution to this? Should I go and get a replacement to apple store? I own a new ipod 4g white with ipos 5.0.1.

i called them again and they told me if I want to change the album artwork + names of the songs that are already in the ipod (under device>music), I have to DELETE those songs. After that, I have to go to library>music and then change the settings there and then ADD THEM BACK to my ipod. I thought it's simply stupid and inconvenient.

  • Changing song names and adding album artwork

Some of the songs that i imported into itunes by some artists, lets say for example "Less Than Jake" shows up as "less than jake" (uncapitalized) when i go to change the first letter which is an "l" to a capital "L" i successfully change the name in itunes and then when i am done changing ti and click on another song it just goes back to lower case
does anyone know how to fix that so that the names that i fix stay fixed not just go back
Another question that i have is some of my artists albums do not have album artwork and when i right click on the album and say get album artwork nothing happens. And i already registered with itunes store so its not that it wont get the album artwork because i didn't register with itunes. Is there anyway to copy the album picture from the internet and get it associated with that specific album in itunes anyway?
ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED
    THANKS IN ADVANCE

      Windows XP Pro

    Greg,
Are you just typing over the name as it appears in your iTunes library?
I am not familiar with the Windows version, but in the Mac version, the best way to edit song title/artist/genre, etc is to select a song and then "Get Info" - in the Mac version that is under the "File" menu - a right click will probably work for you. There are several tabs on the Get Info screen - go to the "Info" tab and you will see what to do.
As for album artwork, iTunes has been pretty good about finding artwork for for those albums which I purchased from the iTunes store, but was no help at all in finding art for the (many) albums I ripped from my CDs.
You COULD find the album art yourself, using Google 'Images' but I think you will find it to be too tedious, and most of the album cover JPEGs you will find by that method are too small and of poor quality.
It would be better to use a third party application. For Mac users I can recommend Fetch Art (http://members.cox.net/afriesen3//fetchart/index.html); I expect there is something similar for Windows, but I can't be specific.

How do I update it there so it is the same as my iTunes now so i can back it all up?
    Thankyou.

I solved my problem. Here's how:
    1. Right click iTunes and click properties from the "Windows 8 Desktop" (or if you want to call it the 7 desktop thats fine too)
    2. Select the compatibility tab.
    3. Set compatibility mode to Windows 7 and click apply.
    4. Open iTunes, sign into iTunes store, Turn on iTunes Match, Add your computer.
    5. Close Program
    6. Restart Computer

  • Cannot apply artwork/changes manually to albums...

Latest iTunes is set to "automatically get album artwork" but I have a few hundred that it could not find. When I try to apply it manually (right click/select all/get info/double click album artwork) or even change the genre of the album, I get all the changes set, then when I press OK, it does nothing. It doesn't apply the artwork that I put in the box and it doesn't apply any other changes. It just sits there! Any suggestions on how to rectify?
I never had this problem w/ the older version & I've downloaded this newest one twice in an effort to make it work.

None of the files are marked Read Only & I do have full Read/Write permission.
I would double check this - the symptom you describe normally has this cause. Apologies if I'm restating what you know to be obvious but just in case....
As well as the Read-Only flag your files may have security permissions that prevent you from making changes. This is most common if your data is on an NTFS drive that has moved from one Windows installation to another. In order to fix them, however, you first have to be able to find them.
*Missing Security Tab in Windows XP*
If you have Windows XP, and your hard drive is formatted as NTFS, you can set permissions on files so that only users you specify can access them. However, if your Windows XP computer is not part of a Domain on a network, you may notice that there is no Security tab when you right-click a file and choose Properties.
To reveal the Security tab follow these steps:
    1. Open Windows Explorer, and choose Folder Options from the Tools menu.
    2. On the View tab, scroll to the bottom of the Advanced Settings and clear the check box next to "Use Simple File Sharing."
    3. Click OK to apply the change, and you should now have a Security tab when viewing the properties of a file or folder on an NTFS volume.
    *Fixing Permissions*
Right-click on your top-level iTunes folder, click Properties. On the General tab clear the Read-only box if checked, then switch to the Security tab. Make sure that your own account (or Everyone) and SYSTEM have Full Control. Apply the changes. If for some reason you are not allowed to apply the change you should be able to use your administrator status to take ownership of the folder after which you will be able to modify the security permissions.
