Never been possible as far as I know.
Only photos and videos from the iPod can be displayed on a TV.

  • Can I disable album artwork on my OS 7 Ipod touch 5th generation from showing up in the list?

Can I disable album artwork on my OS 7 Ipod touch 5th generation from showing up in the list of song/playlist, etc?
I liked how easy it was to find songs without going thru so much artwork. I know I can do it on itunes, but can I do it on the ipod itself?

Good to hear you found the solution.

  • Album artwork not copying over to ipod touch

Hi there, run into a bit of a problem, I upgraded to 1.1.3 (not 1.1.4 just yet), when I came to re-load my entire library back onto my ipod, it copies the tracks over but fails to transfer the album artwork for abou 98% of the albums.
On my PC EVERY album has artwork as I painstakingly sat there for days on end downloading images and importing them to itunes via the "Get Info" section.
How do I get the album artwork to transfer onto my ipod along with the tracks...?
    Thanks, dragon2309

Same here. I spent all day today transferring my library from one computer to another and now this. Artwork shows in itunes but not on the touch...kind of stupid that the touch doesn't have the "display album artwork" option like all the other ipods.
If someone has a way to fix this that doesn't involve removing all the music from the touch and then putting it back on that would be best.

  • ITunes 10, album artwork won't show on ipod 'selected item'

The songs on my computer display album artwork fine, but on my iPod (Classic) it only displays the 'Now Playing' artwork. If I set it to show 'Selected Item' it will only show the artwork of the song playing, if it's selected. It won't show album artwork of any other songs that I select, instead it shows the 'Drag Artwork Here' image, even when the songs already have artwork.
The artwork shows up fine when I'm playing songs on my ipod, or if I click 'Get Info', but it just won't show up in the side bar. I've tried unistalling and reinstalling iTunes and it didn't make a difference. I can't restore my ipod to factory settings because a lot of the music I have isn't backed up. Is there anything I can do?

Strangely I was able to find help myself. I checked one box under the settings that said something like "show album artwork". Strange because it was unchecked before, I had never checked it myself and previously all the artwork was visible properly...
When I clicked that checkbox, to my horror iTunes said something to the effect of "Deleting artwork from 'iPod'". After that it went for a long time into a "Optimizing artwork for 'iPod'" and after that wait all the artwork is shown properly. I wonder what that did...?

  • FYI: How much room does album artwork take up on the iPod?

I was wondering the answer to this question before I tried it, so I thought I'd let other people know what I found out:
With the new 'get album artwork' feature in iTunes 7, I've added a bunch of artwork to my library, but was worried it would take up too much space if I loaded the art onto my 4GB iPod nano as well (through a checkbox in the 'music' section of the ipod overview screen). It turns out the size required is pretty modest, and for me worth it.
I had 735 songs taking up 3.64 GB, with 80mb free. Adding the artwork only took up about 17mb, leaving me with about 63mb free. Not bad.

I did a test on this several months ago, by attaching the same artwork at different resolutions. The result is that the .jpg file is added into the the .mp4 file as is - no compression on the data seems to be going on, judging from the differences in file sizes. There is definitely good reason to keep your artwork small, but not so small that the iPod has to upsample it to display (you'll get a blurry/pixellated image in that case). I keep mine all at 180x180. Since the new video iPod has 240 lines, it may be good to go a little higher. But some images you get off the web are big (and have other problems as well), so using automatic artwork loaders will work against you in this case. Personally, I don't mind spending a minute or so (while the CD imports) to clean up the image before I add it to the songs.

  • Album artwork display

When I hook up my 4gig Nano(2nd gen) to my car stereo the album artwork on the screen is poor quality. My friend's 120gig displays HD quality. What does his ipod have that mine doesn't?

Could be that your friend is adding artwork to his iPod at better quality resolution. I usually look for a minimum of around 300x300 if I'm searching Amazon or Google images, the ideal being 500x500 or 600x600 (I think 600x600 is what iTunes usually supplies).
Whatever resolution your friend is using, it won't be HD quality. The iPod isn't capable of displaying images at HD level.

  • Album artwork is not transerring to Ipod Classic

    Hi,
I have a recently purchased Ipod Classic and prior to now, album artwork in Itunes was being copied to the Ipod when syncing. I do have the album artwork option activated. I downloaded all the artwork that was available and it shows in Itunes.
What's up with sudden inability to get the artwork to the Ipod? I'm concerned something happened to the Ipod, tho I can't imagine what. All the albums I'm trying to add artwork to on the Ipod, were added to my music library from CD's not purchased and previously I had no problem with this.

    Hi,
Yep that did it..except for the albums it wasn't able to get artwork for. The funny thing is, other albums that previously had artwork that were from albums synced from my laptop, lost their artwork in the cache rebuild. I'm hoping if I do something similar on the laptop, it'll restore the artwork without messing up the ones I just fixed on the desktop.

  • Album Artwork won't show on iPod Touch

I am running iTunes 10.6.3.25 on my Windows Vista laptop and iOS 5.1.1 on my iPod touch. I have transferred some new albums to the iPod and the album artwork don't show on the iPod. It does show up in iTunes and if I look on my iPod through iTunes, I see the artwork when I "get info" but it won't show up on the iPod itself. Anyone out there having the same problem?

I have had this problem since iOS4 and I recently (mostly) resolved it in iOS6.
    1. First make sure you do not 'Sign In' into iTunes store.
    2. I used playlists to resolve the issue. Create a playlist with one song, preferably one that does not have any album art.
    3. Create another playlist with all the songs you want to add.
    4. With your iTouch/iPhone attached open iTunes. Go to Device->Music. Under Sync Music:choose "Selected playlists, albums and genres". Choose the one song playlist from those shown. Click on the Sync(Apply) button. This will delete all of the songs.
    5. Once the deletion is complete choose the playlist with all the songs. Click on the Apply(Sync)button. This will install all the songs again and with album artwork.
    6. Once all the songs have been installed click on all the playlists that you want to add (no new songs) and click on the Sync(Apply) button again.
You should now have your songs with album artwork and playlists installed. Hope this helps. The song in the one song playlist won't have any artwork even if it is included. There were some albums whose artwork were not installed. I had a 95% success rate. As I said, it mostly solves the problem for me.

  • Changing Album Artwork D/L'd from Apple Store

    Hi:
Am wondering if there is any way to change the album artwork for downloads from the Apple Store; they seem to be embedded or something. The normal File -> Get Info -> Artwork method to add/delete artwork for a track does not work (original art does not display), and drag/drop of an image file directly to the iTunes art pane does not "stick" either -- although it does show-up: the art always reverts back to the original d/l'd version. Am running iTunes 9.
    Any help appreciated...

*Select all songs of the album > right-click > clear downloaded artwork*
If this doesn't work (It usually don't for iTunes purchased files) then try this:
*Select all songs of the album > right-click > get info - select the artwork field (empty) > click OK*

  • Album artwork not getting on my iPod nano?!

I tried everything to get my artwork to show up on my iPod nano. I read every topic in the forums about it and I did what people said to do and it still isnt showing up. The album artwork shows up in iTunes but not on my iPod. Can anyone help me?

    Cheers,
same here. I have downloaded artwork to iTunes and after that synced music to iPod (nano 4g) manually. But artwork doesn't show either when playing the music or in the coverflow. Don't even know whether the artwork was downloaded to iPod (is there a way to check this?) Seems to be so common problem, so hopefully Apple fixes this or gives instructions how to fix it.

  • Album artwork does not sync to iPod

I am hoping somebody has encountered the same and has a solution to the following issue:
I successfully had iTunes 7 automatically download the album artwork for most of the titles in my collection (i.e. those that appear in the iTunes music store). These were all ripped CDs, not purchased songs. I can see the album artwork in iTunes just fine.
However, when I sync my iPod, none of the art is transferred to my device. The only workaround seems to be making a change to the tags - forcing iTunes to recognize the files have changed. However in doing this, it seems my iPod is getting bloated by 1-2MB of artwork files per album. That seems like a lot. Furthermore, re-syncing all 40GB of music with tag changes will take a long time.
Does anybody have a solution as to why the auto-downloaded cover art is not automatically being transferred to my iPod, and in a space-efficient manner?
    Thanks.

I'm having the same problem, and the suggestions here didn't work (other posters have made similar suggestions). Not sure if it's relevant, but all my iPod artwork is manually entered via the "Get Info" function. I didn't have this problem before iTunes 7.

  • Album Artwork on songs NOT from iTunes?

    Hey
I bought some Hindi albums recently off some random music website (this was before I realized they were also on iTunes) and I tried using the "Get Album Artwork" feature for all of the songs, except it never works. It always tells me that the artwork could not be found. I am editing the song info so that they say exactly what the tracks in iTunes say, and yet it does not work. Is this because this feature only works on songs purchased from iTunes? What can I do?
    Thanks

if iTunes store doesn't have the artist or the album, then no, the artwork cannot be added using iTunes' features - they just don't have the right image. I also have troubles when trying to find album artwork when the album NAME doesn't agree with how iTunes has spelled it. Try looking through the store and search for your artist by name and see if anything comes up. Else, you'll have to manually add them. Try looking on 'zon-Ama' for the image.

  • Album Artwork in iTunes, Not on iPod

I bought an album on iTunes, and the album artwork shows up in iTunes. When I transfer the album to the iPod, there is no album artwork. What could be causing this?

    Check out this Aupport article:
My artwork won't show up on iPod

  • Can you choose whether album artwork goes to a particular iPod?

I recently got an 80GB iPod and have been updating artwork on my 11,000 or so songs. Obviously, I want the artwork on my 80GB where it's viewable.
I don't, however, want artwork transferred to my two older iPods, where the photos just uselessly take up memory.
I don't see a setting where I might be able to turn the artwork on/off for individual iPods.
If I have artwork on the 80GB, am I stuck with it on all my iPods?
    Thanks.....Carl

As far as I know, you are not able to do select which iPod gets the artwork.
