Album Artwork Incorrect. How to Correct?

I've been busy adding my entire music collection to iTunes/iPod and most of the time everything works brilliantly. However from time to time I get weird and wondeful Album Artwork that is completely irrelevant to the Album I've just imported, I've sussed removing the offending artwork, but want to know how I can find the correct artwork without going to all the hassle of scanning my CD covers and resizing etc, etc. Any ideas, links etc?
Ta

I've had the same problem on a few albums... I've tried changing the cover art several times. Even went into iTunes store and found the correct album cover but iTunes insists on the incorrect cover art. I cannot find a work around except for finding the correct cover art online and importing it manually. However, on importing and collecting over 7000 albums, iTunes has only missed the target 4 or 5 times in my count.

  • IPhone 5 thumbnails for album artwork incorrect

I've been having a problem with the album artwork that displays as a thumbnail when you open the music app. For all the albums which contain music videos, a snapshot of the video appears to be replacing the normal artwork for the album. However when I open the album to view the tracklist, or actually play any of the songs in it, it displays the correct artwork as it did before the problem arose. So the issue here is simply with the thumbnails that display in the album menu of the music app.
This first started occurring after I attempted to sync my iPhone to my PC through iTunes, after which the thumbnails for the album artwork all disappeared entirely. I unsynced and redownloaded my music only to find that the thumbnails for several albums were still incorrect as I explained above.
Deleting the videos from the albums does not solve the issue, nor does redownloading the album in it's entirety.

This is what I figured out I went back to my itunes 10.7 on my MBP and all my album artwork that was not showing up on my iPhone 5  was showing up in coverflow on my MBP but after closer exam the ones missing from iphone 5 actually were missing from the selected item pane or the drag artwork here area so I downloaded and added my art by going to just the ones that were missing from that or you can get info on selected track and go to art tab and add it there after doing that on the first 25 missing I synced the phone and they all came back. Still don't know how they got stripped out of itunes in the preview but not the coverflow but I guess that's for the Geniuses at Apple to come up with. Apple please don't remove coverflow and Album art people love that dont screw it up
Make sure you stay away from upgrading to itunes 11 if you love album art and coverflow they have been removed and the new interface is really really complicated and very unappealing graphically

  • My album artwork will not display correctly on my iPod Touch

I have a 4th gen iPod Touch. Recently, I've noticed that a lot of my album artwork is displaying incorrectly in coverflow, and sometimes not at all. I can not figure out why this is happening, as the artwork displays fine in iTunes, and actually shows up in coverflow on the iPod occasionally. However, when I turn my iPod to portrait orientation, they disappear, turn upside down and perform various other acrobatic stunts.
Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

How are you adding the artwork to the songs?
You should try adding the artwork to the songs in iTunes first, not directly to the songs on the iPod (through iTunes).
If you add artwork directly to the iPod, the artwork is sometimes not displayed when playing songs.

  • Album artwork incorrect on ipod problem

    Hello
I've got a 60GB iPod video and have never had a problem with it until recently which may or may not coincide with the upgrade to iTunes 7....
For some reason now on the iPod some album artwork is showing up incorrectly, for instance purchased music is showing album artwork for subscribed podcasts. However it's not just purchased music it's affecting all my music and it's driving me mad!
Can anyone assist? I've already had a search of the forums and am not overly keen on rolling back to a previous version of iTunes.
    Cheers

I've got the 30 gb video and i'm having the same problem...the album artwork is correct on iTunes, but it's showing a totally different album than the one playing on my iPod...it's driving me crazy as well.
Does anyone know what to do about this?

  • Album Artwork won't display correctly.

I've been having this issue for a few months now. My music doesn't have the right cover art on my Ipod touch 4 (running 6.1.6) but it displays correctly on iTunes 11.1.4 for PC. What happens is cover art for other music that i own will be on albums that don't match the artwork. I've tried clearing and redownloading the artwork, reinstalling (the same version) iTunes, deleting my entire library and starting from scratch, and restoring backups of my ipod but to no avail. Is this fixed with iTunes 11.1.5 or am i stuck like this?

i am having the exact same issue right now
on the music list (also in itunes) it'll display the correct album artwork but when i play the song it'll display a different artwork rather than the original :/
i want to find a way to fix it since it's bothering me a bit

  • Album artwork isn't showing correctly

    Hi,
This morning, I noticed all my music was erased from my iPhone, so I put the music back on. Problem solved. Except for the fact the the album artwork is having a spaz attack. So for example, my taylor swift album artwork will be cannibal instead. the song plays fine. I took the music off and put it back on. I did this several times and nothing changed. I erased all the music off my phone, erased all the music covers from my itunes library and manually put the correct covers back on. I put the music back on my phone. STILL DOESN'T WORK!!! I've also tried syncing my library.
    Thanks in advance

nevermind, I fixed it, I removed everything from my phone once again, went into my itunes library and did what the picture shows

  • Album artwork incorrect

Is anyone experiencing the wrong cover art showing up after you let your playlists repeat? When I initially play my playlist, all is fine and dandy, but when my playlist repeats, the song showing is correct, but the album artwork is completely wrong. So I could be listening to the Shins, but Guns N Roses artwork shows up. I can replicate on my 8GB 3g nano. Anyone else have this?

Yes, I'm getting this issue too, although in my case it's as a result of using "Shuffle Songs" mode - initially the artwork is correct but after a period of time (possibly related to number of songs played - if I skip tracks and/or jump to previous tracks it happens sooner) it gets all scrambled up. Turning Shuffle or Repeat modes off, or stopping the playlist and choosing something else will clear it up OK for me. Rebooting (per the other poster in the thread) is a temporary fix also.
Whilst it's clearly Yet Another 1.0C Firmware Glitch, it's at least an amusing one: Some of the artwork / track juxtapositions it's come up with for me have been fairly amusing

  • IPod album artwork - scrambled; how to fix?

The album artwork on my iPod is all scrambled up (but it is perfectly fine on my computer). Some albums have the artwork from another album, some have a black square, some have a white square, and some have four small albums patched together in one giant square. What gives? Why is it doing this and how can I fix it?

you could try restoring your ipod from itunes but make sure your music, apps, ect are backed up on the computer first

  • Missing album artwork / iTunes 12 not correctly synced to iPhone

    Hi all.
Earlier, I simply wanted to add a couple of albums to my iPhone 5S (running iOS 8.1.3) that I purchased on CD.
After being unable to add the songs due to the commonly occurring 'ghosting' issue, I checked on my iPhone to see if they had appeared in the Music app. They didn't.
Instead, most of my album artwork was removed, seemingly at random. First thing I tried was deleting and manually adding a few of the affected songs. No luck with that. Secondly, I restored the iPhone from a backup. Again, nothing. I again tried to delete and re-add the tracks, which still didn't work.
Frustrated, I decided I'd just delete all the music through the usage menu on the phone and manually re-add it all. Here's where the main problem occurs: iTunes still lists 8gb and 900+ songs still being on the iPhone despite there being none. I figured this must be part of the issue, the iTunes troubleshoot menu lists everything as being fine, so I decided to update iTunes. Yet again, no luck.
I'm hesitant to delete the "music" on the phone through iTunes as I assume it should detect the music being removed, and I feel it would only cause further problems.
Essentially, after attempting to add 2 albums I'd recently bought and ripped off of a CD (though iTunes), it would not add to the phone and instead is only listed through iTunes with the light grey writing. This randomly broke most album art on the phone, and after restoring the phone/updating iTunes didn't work, I deleted all music off the phone. iTunes still lists all the music as being on there.
Running the latest version of iTunes on Windows 7.

Generally if syncing doesn't work as expected take the following steps:
    Backup device.
    Restore as a new device.
    Restore the backup made earlier.
This assumes all content on the device is in your library. If that isn't the case see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • Why is my 3GS showing some incorrect album artwork when it is correct on computer?

When using my ipod on my 3GS I have noticed that I sometimes have the incorrect artwork displayed. For example I have 3 Nickelback albums which on my computer shows the correct artwork but on my iphone either doesn't show the artwork or is showing Elton John albums!!! Seems a bit of a strange glitch. Anyone else have this problem or know how to solve it?

I've always assumed those silly strings were recording the results of the gapless playback analysis but whatever they're for it would be better if they were stored in a spare field.
Windows Media Player/Windows Explorer may be less fussy on embedded artwork formats than iTunes or the media file might actually be missing the art but the Windows Explorer cache (Thumbs.db) still shows it. You say removing-reimporting doesn't help but I assume you can still paste new artwork in and have it remembered. If so you might want to use the following tool to at least take some of the effort out of searching out which tracks you need to repair.
*How to find tracks without artwork*
To find all the tracks without artwork so that you can update them you can try http://www.stum.de/itunes-find-tracks-without-artwork/ for Windows or http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/scripts13.php for Macs. Use Google, Amazon, Discogs etc. to locate relevant jpeg images. Ideally these should be square, 320x320 pixels or above and borderless to give the best results in the various menus. If you have artwork for some tracks of an album, but not others, select a track with artwork, right-click (Option-Click for Macs) on the art & click copy, then select all the tracks of the album, use CTRL-I or Command-I to *Get Info* and then paste the image into the artwork box.
I say 320x320 because I believe (from using TouchCopy) that it's the size used in the iPod cache so if you're going to crop or resize you might as well work to that size. Otherwise 200x200 is probably good enough.

  • My album artwork is not displaying correctly, what should I do to fix it? And yes it's correct in my iTunes library.

Please help, it's starting to get annoying, also the problem only starts after I restarted my iPod Touch.

I had the same problem with my 4th generation iPod Touch.  A "restore" did the trick and set everything right.  It took about an hour.  I have 14GB of music -- 3,000 songs plus or minus.

  • Incorrect album artwork

I had the wrong album title entered for a song and consequently got the wrong artwork.  The iTunes store carries the correct artwork for the album so I corrected the album title but still get the wrong artwork, even after selecting "get album artwork".  How can I fix?

Yeah I hear you regarding the "feeding the fever". Some people cringe when I tell them how much I've downloaded from the iTMS. Some chuckle, some laugh, some people's jaw drop but the truth in the matter is that I spend no more on the iTMS then I used to spend on store bought albums. If I divide how much I've spent on the iTMS by how many months I've been downloading (June 2003) it comes out to just over $34.00 a month (the price of a couple albums in the store). That is not taking into consideration free songs from Pepsi caps, savings from buying albums (you usually get more than 10 songs on an album) and it's not counting other free songs such as "Downloads of the Week" etc... I'm also getting songs I want by picking and choosing rather than going to the store and purchasing an entire album where you may only like a maximum of a few songs from that particular album. I think I'm still coming out a head. Best of all I haven't downloaded a song illegally in nearly 3 years!

  • How can i get rid of specific album artwork or turn it off completely?

I am wanting to turn off all album artwork or delete at least selected album artwork.  How can I do this?  I have both an Apple iMAC and a dell laptop.

Right-click the track, Get Info.  Go to the artwork tab.  Click the art and then the Delete button.

  • Album Artwork - How to turn off

I just downloaded an installed iTunes 7.
The darn thing keeps downloading album artwork. How do I turn this off?
    Thanks,
    Doug

I tried deleting the plist file and that didn't not help either. Still downloads all the album artwork.
Every time I add a song to the library it goes through the whole routine again.
This is crazy. Judging from this forum and others Apple has really goofed on this release.

  • No album artwork in coverflow

I have album artwork for all of my albums, but for some of them it shows the music symbol in cover flow indicating that there is no album artwork. How do I fix this?

*Why is artwork not showing on my iPod when it's there in iTunes?*
iTunes will display a cover in many of it's views provided at least one track from the album has embedded artwork. The iPod appears to load only the artwork from track one to create the cover flow and album views which means that it can sometimes fail to display art for albums even when you can see the art in iTunes. Further, when tracks are played on the iPod, artwork is displayed if and only if it exisits in the currently playing track, so track one may show art while track two does not.
*How to find tracks without artwork*
To find all the tracks without artwork so that you can update them you can try http://www.stum.de/itunes-find-tracks-without-artwork/ for Windows or http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/scripts13.php for Macs. If you're using Google or other FWSE to locate suitable images they should be jpg's and ideally square, 320x320 pixels or above and borderless to give the best results in the various menus. If you have artwork for some tracks of an album, but not others, select a track with artwork, right-click (Option-Click for Macs) on the art & click copy, then select all the tracks of the abum, use CTRL-I or Option-I to *Get Info* and then paste the image into the artwork box.
    *Rebuild artwork cache*
Sometimes the artwork cache becomes corrupt and fails to show correct artwork, even when this is properly set up in iTunes. To rebuild the artwork cache, connect your iPod to iTunes. Locate the iPod in the Sources pane on the left-hand side, then select the Music tab. Remove the tick from *Display album artwork on your iPod*, sync the iPod, reselect the option & sync again.
