Album artwork info and help

Hi all,
i have a question, when iTunes find itself album images, everything is ok, i transfer music on iPod and images are correctly displayed. Th e problems is when iTuns can't find it , so i find it by mysel, I select all the songs and from the information window i add the image.
Now i have two questions: why these images added with the second method aren't transfered on iPod?
Why iTunes added images are added in iTunes db (so i have One single image for all the records) and no space is occupupied by ten or more pictures as when i add them manually?

Unless Itunes has the specific album or song then it can't download the artwork for it, so you need to find the artwork covers and then put them in manually. I rip my Cd's with windows media player 11 which adds in the art and then I use it to add to the albums in Itunes.

After failed backup album artwork/info is scrambled

After a failed backup when syncing my iPod Touch first Gen. (power failure during extended backup taking hours) my album artwork and sometimes the artist names are not with their proper songs. ie.: "Born Again" by Newsboys shows the Switchfoot album cover and is listed as "The Waiting," but still plays the song correctly.
I have already tried resyncing it to my Mac, and shutting down and resyncing. I have checked my iTunes and all of the original music info there is fine... just on my iPod is it all scrambled.
Please help. If I have to start over (again) I just might cry.

I bought one new song on my computer, then re-sync'd... *four long hours later*, after it *completely reset the iPod*, it then put the info back in order.
However, it also meant that my Mail messages, my Address Book and every app was reset to the last saved reset. Had to redo everything to get it back.
_Take screenshots of your app pages_ of your iPod/iPhone and put them on your computer so that you can put the apps all back where you had them before you reset your iPod.

ITunes Album Artwork Problem. Help?

I recently installed iTunes onto my new laptop, and the album artwork for all my songs comes out slightly discolored, in that it is a hue of pink. What's even stranger is that the album artwork seen on the bottom left corner shows the artwork in it's right colors. I've tried to calibrate the colors on my screen in my settings, but nothing seems to be working. Oh, and my new laptop is running on Windows 8. Help?
P.S. Don't mind my choice of music, I was helping my little sister put music on her iPhone :3

The important line is "If the data matches, iTunes will download the album artwork".
What it doesn't say is, "if the Apple database is wrong, you'll get the wrong artwork".
Try getting the correct cover for +Led Zeppelin I+ - impossible. They had Mothership listed under Lead Zeppelin for a while.
I agree with the other comment; just get those 40 covers from somewhere else, rather than find out how it is listed in the Apple database.

Other is usually around 1 GB...
A ' Large Other ' usually indicates Corrupt Data...
First Try a Restore from Backup... But... if the Large Other Persists, that is an Indicator of Corrupt Data in the Backup... Then a Restore as New is the way to go...

for certain songs or certain albums the album artwork will be another albums album artwork and i cannot figure out what to do! please help me!

it sounds like you did everything you were supposed to. so does it do it on just the ipod or does it do it in itunes also?

Cant get album artwork! Need help!

So I just bought Senses Fail's new album Life Is Not a Waiting Room and I tried to get the album artwork and it says it could not be found and it's spelt the exact same way as it is on iTunes... Also I just downloaded the new iTunes and I did not have any troubles with any other artwork until I uploaded this cd... So please help me!

For whatever reason, the iTS store database has it listed differently than your tags.
Sometimes just adding a blank space after the Album Name or Artist will make iTunes fetch the artwork.
When Led Zeppelin's Mothership was first released, Apple had it filed under Artist = Lead Zeppelin. It's fixed now, but folks couldn't get the artwork until it was, unless they misspelled their own tags.

Album Artwork Drag and Drop issue

Good morning all,
After struggling with this last evening for some time I have decided it's time to ask the pros.
In iTunes I used to be able to drag and drop album artwork. So, for instance, I would just go and google the album image I was looking for and then take that jpg and drop it in to whichever album is missing that particular cover on the main album screen.
What seems to be happening now though is that iTunes thinks every jpg I try to drag over is actually a podcast and it takes that album cover and places it under "Podcasts"
I know I could just go into the album properties and add the album art that way but this was just so much simpler.
Any thoughts? Writing this in a hurry as well so please let me know if I need to be more specific.

That does not exist - the workaround (maybe permanent solution - who knows) is
File menu ==> export
And BTW if you are not backingup all the time you are 100% guarenteed to lose all of your files and photos sooner or later

Need info and help with ARD

I would really like to get some information and help that would enable me to troubleshoot my mother's new Mac Mini for her. She lives in CA and I live in WA. She is new to Macs and I just KNOW there will be lots of desperate phone calls from her to me!
I should say right up front, though, that although I do pretty well with my own Macs, I know almost nothing about THIS subject. So, please, any help or information you choose to give me, it will need to be in plain, old English as I don't understand all this stuff.
My setup is this: (I don't know what is relevant or not) ......I have a desktop G4 running 10.4.3 that will be the computer I will use to remotely control the Mini. The Mini is also running 10.4.3 (or will be when I get it set up for her). I am connected to the internet through a wireless connection to my ISP. I have a Linksys router and connect to that via Ethernet. We have 4 other computers here at home connected to our network wirelessly.
My Mom will connect to the internet using a modem and AOL
This is what I have done so far but I have not been able to make a connection. (As a test, before I go to CA and setup the Mini, I thought I’d try to remotely control my iBook, which is on my network.) On the iBook, I enabled ARD in the Sharing preferences and checked "VNC viewers nay control screen with password" and then entered a password. On my desktop computer, I downloaded Chicken of the VNC, entered in the info I needed (address of the iBook and password) but it would not connect.
I've read so much about clients, servers, etc. here lately that my head is swimming and I’m more confused than ever!
Can I even do what I'd like? It'd sure be a sweet deal for me and avoid a lot of frustration for my Mom .......who, incidentally, is switching to a Mac from a PC at the tender young age of 75! Cool, huh? I'd really like to make it as painless for her as possible.

NEW Album Artwork Problem and MORE!

Once I puchased a laptop, I attempted to copy the library on my main computer to the laptop. This worked fine. The problrms arose once I synced my Ipod to my new laptop. After I synced it, alot of the album artwork is not correctly positioned. What I mean by this: the artwork is with the correct songs, etc. but the actual artwork is all whackey. For example, instead of the artwork having the correct, individual sizes, they are in the same black box no matter what the size of the artwork, meaning artwork that is tall and wide is missing the top and bottom with black boxes on the sides.
That is the best I can explain that.
Another problem arose when I attempted to update my ipod. I got an error (-43) when I updated it on my laptop. After it failing over and over again, I just moved back my stuff from the laptop to the main computer to update it there. Now after I sync it to the main computer, the album artwork is still garbage and glitchy on my ipod. Moreover, I am still getting the error (-43) message.

So now im thinking, "well, i'm going to have to save my library somewhere else and sync the ipod without a library." What makes me reluctant is if I move my library, which has the album artwork messed up, will it stay like that after the update considering the music is not being updated with it?
Well, this *****. I have no idea what to do. Why must iTunes have so many problems?

Well, It updated and synced fine. The album artwork sizes were fixed too!
But now the artwork looks add like the pixles are not set in properly....
Oh well.

Edit album/artwork info does not work

I have added music to iTunes which does not have artwork, and for some reason the Album title is wrong.
I select all songs from the album and right click "edit info". In here I am able to make changes to title, as well as add artwork. After I click OK, the changes are not applied. I repeat several times, and still no changes occur. I have been able to successfully do this in the past so I know exactly what I am doing. For some reason with this latest version of iTunes (12.0.1.26) on Windows 8.1, this edit info function is not working for me any more.
Any ideas on what might be wrong??

Otherwise it might be worth a complete rebuild of iTunes as outlined in the second box of Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

Looking for the best applescript that will get artwork and one will delete lyric's that were downloaded? I did do a search on dougs but nothing showed up?

2. One single document with sheets for the time sheets and then a folder of sheets for invoices for each month, which update dynamically using SUMIF functions when the relevant data is present in the time sheets. An applescript could then do batch exporting of all time sheets for a given month. This would entail building a table or populating a table using something like the method you described in your answer to this question:
(a) I apologize but I'm unable to make the difference between the word "sheet" used to name a true sheet and the same word used to name a table.
(b) there is no way to exchange datas between a document and a "folder of sheets" without a script.
As a Numbers document may embed a huge number of sheets able to embed a huge number of tables I guess that you may achieve your goal with a single document.
The idea is :
sheet 1 contains the table(s) with the main datas.
sheet 2 contain tables building the invoices for a given month
sheet 3 contain tables building the invoices for a given month
In each sheet starting from sheet 2, insert a single cell table whose content is the date of the first day of the dedicated month.
It's the contents of this cell which will be used to extract the relevant infos from the main datas.
Advantages : a single document behaving on its own.
Disadvantages : huge document which may behave slowly.
I can't choose for you and I must add that the slow behavior may become a sad remembrance the day we will get the next major iWork update.

Album artwork/info

For the last little while there are some albums on iTunes that won't let me manually add artwork or change information, how do I get around this? THey are all mp3's and can play o without a problem.

No problem. I have had GREAT luck with this site. I had difficulty with only a few albums, and they were compilations. This site really is pretty good, and quality of the album art images is very good.

Hp touchpad info and help

Hi all. Can any one tell me is it possible to watch QVC live on the touchpad and can you do online grocery shopping like you can on a normal pc. I know these are stupid questions, but before I buy one of my friend I need to know. this will be for my wife because her lap top is rubbish and she cannot watch this program on the iPad and only uses it for e-mail and shopping.Thanks very much for any help anyone can give .

I have two selects running something like this:
select <column-names> from <table-names> where <conditions>
union
select <column-names> from <table-names> where <conditions>.
there are three outer-join conditions in the first select and
three outer joins in the second like:
c=l(+)[in the first select]
d=m(+)
e=n(+)
and
f=l(+) [in the second select]
g=m(+)
h=n(+)
The result here generates 52 rows which is correct.
Now the case is that I am removing the union clause from the above SQL
and converting it like this.
select <column-names[1]>+<column-names[2]> from <table-names[1]>+<table-names[2]> where <conditions[1]>+<conditions[2]>
but i get the error:
same table cannot be outerjoined to two tables in the same query because i now have this
in the new query :
c=l(+)[from the first select]
d=m(+)
e=n(+)
f=l(+) [from the second select]
g=m(+)
h=n(+)
if I remove the join like:
c=l[from the first select]
d=m
e=n
f=l(+) [from the second select]
g=m(+)
h=n(+)
the query executes but results into 160 rows too much of unneeded redundancy, which is wrong.
My question is that:"Is there any way to do this? I mean to remove the union and combine the two selects into one without affecting the result of the Query which should be 52 rows only (while not affecting the joins I think this should also be the case)".
Need your suggestions.

The union set operator performs a sort and deletes duplicates as a part of its definition.
If your revised query gives you the correct results only with duplicate rows then a select distinct may be all you need.
The cost of the sort and duplicate delete operation will affect your query performance but as the output result set is fairly small I do not think it will make much of a difference.
