Album Artwork(NEED HELP!!!)

The album artwork is not matching with the artist. Like lets say i wanna listen to Blink 182 but the album cover is 50 cent. It really bothers me any body knows how to fix it?
And some of the artwork is just black. There's no album cover at all just a black square...

For whatever reason, the iTS store database has it listed differently than your tags.
Sometimes just adding a blank space after the Album Name or Artist will make iTunes fetch the artwork.
When Led Zeppelin's Mothership was first released, Apple had it filed under Artist = Lead Zeppelin. It's fixed now, but folks couldn't get the artwork until it was, unless they misspelled their own tags.

Why does my external Hard Drive not save album artwork? Help!

I have quite a lot of music saved digitally, so to save space I have been storing it on an external hard drive. Some of the music does not have any artwork attached (and does not download any when I select 'get album artwork').
So, as an example, starting with the music on iTunes, I have manually added some artwork via the 'Get info' option.
I then saved the music to my external hard drive.
However, when I next transfer the same album back onto iTunes, none of the artwork has been saved.
Why is this? And how can it be corrected?

thanks for the reply, limnos, But let me explain: I have about 80gb-100gb of music.
I can't keep all of this on my computer (on iTunes) as it simply takes up too much space for the rest of my computer to run at a decent speed.
I therefore use my hard drive as a kind of library, where i store my music and occasionally transfer some music onto iTunes to listen to, and then transfer it back whe I'm done. Do you see?
I have done a bit more exploring and I think maybe I only have a problem with artwork 'disappearing' when it is albums that I have requested 'get album artwork'. i.e. the artwork downloads onto an album; then i copy the album onto my hard drive for storage; then when i want to play the album again and copy it back onto itunes, the artwork has been lost.
Do you know why?

How much space does album artwork need?

I have about 15,000 songs in my iTunes library, of which only a small percentage (maybe 5-10%) have album artwork.
If I get artwork for all(or most) of the rest of the library, how much ipod space will that use?
I have 4 ipods, only one of which can display artwork. Roughly, how would all the artwork impact what I can store on the displaying ipod?
Does artwork have any impact on storage capacity for non-displaying ipods?

If iTunes gets the artwork, it will not affect the amount of songs on the iPod.
If you add the artwork yourself to songs, it will affect the amount you can put on the iPod as artwork you get yourself is stored as part of the song file and transferred to the iPod, even if the iPod cannot display artwork.
If the artwork is 200kB & you add that to all songs, it will be ~2.8GB just for artwork.

Album Artwork Itunes Help

Before recent update I used to be be able to add album artwork by "copying and pasting" the image into the "artwork" section. However when I do this now, it appears blank with a blue outline. How can i fix this?

Yes, the ability to paste got screwed up in a recent release.
To avoid saving the file, you can drag-n-drop the picture to the open box on the Artwork tab. This seems to work best when dragging from Firefox.

maybe this is a stupid question, but i'm new to itunes (i just got my first ipod yesterday- yay!) and was wondering if it costs money to download the album artwork onto itunes?

No, but you have to have an itunes store account.
You can sign up with a credit card, download a free singleof the week to make sure your PC is authorized properly, then remove your credit card details from the account.

Web photo album error - need help please

I am using the newer version, which is Web Phot Album 2.1. It
used to work fine, i installed the new update for dreamweaver and
now it doesn't work. When i did update dreamweaver, I did what it
said and disabled the exentions. So, to the problem. When I click
on the open files button to choose which pictures i want, it gives
me this error :
' A script in file C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
MX\Configuration\Shared\Common\Scripts\dwscripts.js has been
running for a long time. Do you want to continue?'
so after i click yes, it will build the images using flash,
but it will not create any of the html or any of the html pages.
please let me know if anyone has any other ideas?????

In addition to the missing correlation between the
amsSettings table and at least one of the other tables per Ken's
suggestion (which will give you a Cartesian join if unresolved),
you should either remove the double quotes from the
#SESSION.auth.NewLinesNo# parameter if it is numeric, or use single
quotes if it is a text field ('#SESSION.auth.NewLinesNo#')

Can't add Album artwork to certain files.

Hi, I've come across an anomaly in iTunes. There are certain audio files that cannot, for any reason update album artwork. I update album art work but selecting the file in iTunes then "get info" -> "add album artwork". But on certain files these tabs, as well as lyrics, are greyed out. The audio files are ACC 128bits. The only thing I found in common with the files that won't get album art work or lyrics is that they were encoded with iTunes 4.7. The only fix I can see is reconverting them in another version of iTunes, but this seems like a really dumb fix. Mostly I'm just wondering if there are any other people that have this problem and what fix you came up with, or what would cause a specific version of iTunes to not allow artwork.

Instead of opening the album under "Get Info" and going into the Artwork tab, try clicking on the square box with a triangle in it located on the bottom left side of the iTunes window. This will display the ablum artwork inside the side bar. Click on the top of the album artwork box where it says "Now Playing" and it will change into "Selected Item". Select a song you're trying to get the album artwork for and see what it says in the box. If it says "Album Artwork Not Modifiable" then you might have a problem with the kind of file the music is. Granted, this shouldn't be any different than going into "Get Info" and trying it there, but at least this way you can tell for sure what the issue is. If the box says "Drag Album Artwork Here" then go ahead and drag the picture there and it should work. Sometimes checking the album artwork box helps you more understand what the issue is. Hey guys, i found a recent issue with my new ipod nano, i added album artwork on every single song on my ipod nano, though it wont show! to fix this issue (= to be able to see all added album artwork) follow these steps:
1) Make sure you add the album artwork to the songs in the library (not into playlists or an ipod)
2) Clear all the songs from your ipod.
3) Add all the songs again.
4) Voila! you have all the album artwork showing on your ipod!

I'm glad you brought this up. I noticed some of my artwork missing and from reading your post maybe I input the artwork while working in a playlist.
But here's a question: If I add the artwork while I'm working in the library why do I need to clear the song and then add it again?

I NEED HELP! IPOD AND ALBUM ARTWORK ISSUES

I can use the music store and surf the internet fine. BUT, I try to use the ministore and with the new itunes, update mmy ipod and download album artowrk, it says itunes cannot connect, please make sure my connection is active. I tried the network diagnostics and it said network failed, but in the report, it says it connected to the music store. I dont understand, this shouldnt be because I can use the music store no problem. What is odd is on my other accounts on the computer, this issue doesnt exist. I dont recall changing any settings. Can someone help please?

You can get album artwork from various other sources as well as Amazon. You can even locate artwork using Google image search by using the artist or album name. I find this site is a good source of artwork: CD/Album Cover Art Search from SlothRadio.
Locate the album from any of those sources, right click on the image and save it to the desktop, once it's there drag it to the iTunes artwork pane. Once you've added the artwork you can either delete the original file or keep it in a folder somewhere in case you need to use it again. Alternatively there are programs like these that help locate artwork: iTunes Art Importer or MP3 Tag

Need help about album artwork/liner!

I just purchased an album off of Itunes that is sort of random but I needed it for a class. Basically I'm just trying to figure out how to see the inside of the CD, aka the album liner. I tried "Get Album Artwork" and nothing happens. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I need proof that I bought the cd and can't get anything except the cover! If anyone has any suggestions that would be awesome. Thank you in advance!

Does anyone know how to tell if the album you're purchasing comes with a digital booklet?
It shows up as one of the tracks when viewing the album in the iTunes store.

Help needed adding album artwork using Windows Vista

My computer is a PC running Windows Vista. I am missing some album artwork - some artwork from CDs I ripped to Windows Media Player and subsequently transferred to ITunes and my IPod Classic (120GB), and some artwork that is either missing from ITunes or incorrect album artwork. When I drag an album image from ITunes to my album artwork window, it won't copy, nor can I do it from Windows Media Player. Yes, I have enabled automatic download of artwork in ITunes, and yes, I have already read the basic adding album artwork article, and I am not able AT ALL to do any kind of drag and drop.
I also noticed that my ITunes songs is missing album artwork that ITunes has a partial album for, but I have the FULL album (which I transferred from WMP)
Any suggestions?

You can't copy the artwork from the iTunes Store...
You also won't have any joy if you're trying to add artwork to wav files as they don't support tags.
Use Google, Amazon, Discogs etc. to locate relevant images. Ideally these should be square, 320x320 pixels or above and borderless to give the best results in the various menus. Copy the image from the source, then select all the tracks of the album, use CTRL-I to *Get Info* and paste the image into the artwork box.

I just downloaded the new version of iTunes, but I haven't been able to put new album artwork on my albums. Every time I try, the picture I put doesn't show up. Please help!

Usually, when I put album artwork, I go to get info for the whole album and copy and paste an image I get off the Internet. But every time I do this, all that shows up is the color black! I have no idea what to do. Please help.

It's a bug with iTunes 10.4.0.80. If you copy and paste from some web browsers or an image editor then iTunes pastes in a transparent image of the same dimensions. This shows up black in the artwork panel at the bottom left or white in the get info art viewer.
If you work with an image file stored on your computer you will get better results. Use the artwork box on the Info tab of the Get Info. dialog for multiple tracks to replace all existing images. With a single track you will need to delete the existing corrupt images from the Artwork tab first.

I have searched and not found an up to date understandable answer as how
to join 2 working portable same (apple ID) user iTunes folders into one itunes folder
while above all else preserving hand edited Abum Artwork and hand edited tags.
( It was many hours of hand edited added Album Artwork and editing of tags )
Situation is Windows 7 ( 64 bit ) with current iTunes installed ( 2014-03-17 )
The hard drive crashed and the old \iTunes folder and all old contents have been copied and backed up.
The windows 7 64 bit and latest iTunes 64 bit has been re-installed cleanly ( no old music added )
Music from the iTunes cloud was then added/downloaded into iTunes
Now \itunes has 40 gig of music available to play.
Now I want to join the currently installed working \itunes folder ( 40 gig of music )
with the old saved \itunes folder ( 100 gig of music ) into just one \iTunes folder
with preserving the current Album Artwork and editing of "tags" of both folders.
I have seen previous answers that use words like " consolidate " , " export / import ",
" merge " , " apple home sharing " , " use explorer to copy ..." , ect
none of which mentioned if the current Album Artwork
or tags survive unchanged from their current "specially edited" status.
I know their may be the ineviatable "duplicates", but there seems
to be several ways to handle them. ( If you know the best way to
prevent or remove duplicates in this situation with joining two
iTunes folders in Windows please include that information also ).
Please provide an explanation of how to join these 2 iTunes folders
in Windows 7 into one \iTunes folder while preserving Album Artwork and tags.

Mike, thanks for the response. I will try this. I'll have to dig around here too, bc I want to know more about how I can import a windows xml file (while replacing the drive paths) and it creating a seperate itunes library with the pointers on the mac. Essentially, I have 2 libraries and there may not be a way around this with a windows machine and a mac - ive read plenty on Choose library on open, and mac to mac, windows to windows.
I also need to know more about what is getting stored in the album art folders. I believe it seems that when you select all, and copy the image in the artwork get info page its actually embedding these images in the files themselves, but if you paste into the left bottom artwork display pane its just adding where?? If I deleted the contents of this folder what would happen, should I not be copying this content?
If I update the images on the mac and swap out the drive paths and move the external drive back to the windows box, will i lose any updates I did while on the mac?

Restored my library from backup discs, need help with album art/playlist

Good morning everyone. Using the great information on this site I have successfully backed up "my library". I then reformatted my hd and reinstalled win xp and itunes. I was also successful in using the awesome restore feature of itunes. "My library" is back 100%.
The only thing left is the album art and my playlists- both currently on my ipod. My question is how do I update "my library" and "my playlist" from my ipod? I am worried that if I plug in my ipod without knowing what to do then my ipod will try to match "my library" (which does not have artwork) and thus my ipod will delete the album artwork. I have several thousand songs and would HATE to lose that artwork since it would be a time consuming pain to update those manually. Also I have 20 or so playlists on my ipod. I am afraid of losing those (currently on ipod) when I connect to itunes since it will try to update and match the now empty/blank playlist currently in itunes.
I am sure these are easy solutions for you pros out there. That's why I am asking! You folks have always given the proper help and advice whenever an issue has arisen. Thanks in advance!

Just Google the album title, then click the IMAGES tab. More times than not, I find the album cover in multiple sizes and about every time, at least one version that is truly square.
All i need to do then is click the image, then again at the top of the resulting Google page (to show just the image - out of it's surrounding page), then drag the image directly to the Album Artwork Placeholder in the GET INFO tab (that has already been opened on multiple items - the whole album).
