Album Artwork Not Displayed in CoverFlow

I recently upgraded iTunes. Now whenever I choose CoverFlow to display my music covers, no artwork appears. I know the file is still intact, as they are displayed when I choose grid OR list option. Anyone have any ideas? I have resynced to no avail. Should I try reinstalling Itunes, I have over 1500 songs and covers and don't want to make the wrong move...Thanks in advance.

I also have the same going on with Vista, My Mac is doing good with the new Download but I am afraid to Upgrade My Windows XP, I do not want to have the same thing happen to it. One thing about the Cover Flow it has a Black Screen with no slider's or Controls of any kind. It is as if the Program for Cover Flow has been left out. Cover Flow is rely a grate Program, I hat not having it. They need to go back to the Drawing Table on this new download of I-tunes and give us back or Old one until they Fix it. I also had Removed I-tunes from My Computer and again Downloaded it I still had the same thing happen.

  • ITunes 7 Errors/Glitches and Album Artwork Not Displaying on iPod

Looks like a lot of people are having problems with the new iTunes 7. After downloading iTunes7 and the new ipod updater, and having iTunes go and get the album artwork I was missing, some of the album artwork that displayed in iTunes would not display on my iPod (Gen 5). Very weird. I then tried to follow the suggestions on this board to deselect the "display album art on ipod" (in the Music tab of iPod preferences) so that I could then reselect and resynch (which supposed to fix the problem). It was very difficult to achieve this, as iTunes repeatedly had problems recognizing my ipod (even though it was sitting there in the source list). Managed to somehow get it to work, only to discover that while some missing album artwork had been added to ipod and properly displayed, others that had been there before were now gone (but were fine in iTunes)!!! And trying to repeat the deselect/reselect steps only resulted in more error messages ("The Settings were not saved for the iPod ___ because it could not be found." and "iPod update failed. disconnect and reconnect, then try again.")
I happen to have Apple Care for my iPod. Was on phone for ONE HOUR with rep who, while friendly, had no idea what was going on.
Okay Apple, I hope you're reading this, PLEASE FIX THE BUGS. I thought I escaped the problems of buggy software releases when I switched from Microsoft to Apple.

    UPDATE on previous posting:
Okay, with help of previously mentioned Apple rep, I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes 7 AND restored my iPod G5. After resynching my 5000+ songs, ALL the album artwork not displaying per previous posting is now displaying. HOWEVER (and Apple employees please take note here), when I tried to change the iPod settings AT ALL (e.g., deselect Synch Movies, TV Shows, Games, etc.) and then select APPLY, same problem!! So it appears this is where the problem lies. Somehow making any changes to these options and then hitting Apply causes the error ("...iPod could not be found" etc.) My workaround (since I am not intending to use iPod for movies or TV shows or games) is to change the Main Menu listings in Settings so I don't have to see them.
APPLE: PLEASE STUDY AND FIX! Thank you....

  • Album artwork not displaying for all albums in Coverflow view

Very interesting problem I'm having. All of my music has album artwork assigned to it and can clearly be seen in the preview pane at the bottom left of the iTunes window. However, not all the albums show up in the new Coverflow feature in iTunes 7. I've been trying to figure out what might be different about these images that would cause them to not show up. Also, the albums that don't show up in Coverflow view don't show up on my iPod nano either; all the other ones are fine though. Any ideas?

I'm experiencing the same. It is funny, I can definitely not see something the displayed (or not displayed) graphics have in common. Some were fetched from the iTS, some bought from iTS, some fetched from other locations ...
At first I thought that it might be because of my old but brave little iBook, but if you see the same on an G4, this is probably not the reason.
My library is on an external hard drive connected via FireWire, and it is quite big (almost 15,000 tracks).

  • Album artwork not displaying on iPhone 5 iOS 6.0.2

I recently took the plunge from Android and got myself an iPhone 5. One thing that's driving me nuts is album artwork in my music library. I have two problems
not all albums will display artwork on the phone despite being present in iTunes and WMP/Media Monkey.
when artwork is displayed on phone, when music is playing the wrong artwork is then displayed.
I've tried different ways of synching, auto and manual. I have also tried replacing the artwork in 'Get Info' (time-consuming and tedious when artwork is already there). Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Frustratingly, if I am successful one day, the next time I synch I am back to square one with no artwork.
I wouldn't use iTunes if I didn't have to...I had none of these issues with Android/Creative.
I am using a Windows 7 laptop, iPhone 5, IOS 6.0.2, iTunes for Windows 11.0.1.12. The issue has been present since day one getting this phone.
Does anyone have any tips, ideas or similar experience of this issue?

You could try activating it while connected to a different wifi network.  You could also see if your router has a firmware update available and changing your router's settings to use Google's public DNS to see if that helps (see https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using).

  • Album artwork not displaying correctly

I recently updated to 1.1.4 and the album artwork associated with my music does not match up anymore. It is very strange.
When I flip through coverflow everything works fine, but once I play a song from a particular album, it shows the album art for a completely different CD. and another strange thing is if I now flip the cover over while the song is playing, it shows the correct track list for the original CD, but the little album thumbnail at the top right corner is even ANOTHER album art.
    Anyone experienced this before?

  • Itunes album artwork not displayed

I have just started using itunes and purchased my fist album which is a compilation. The album artwork is not displayed, I have searched the forum and checked that the get artwork is visible in the get info option, which it is and all the album details are correct.
    Any advice?
    Thanks in advance.

Not sure if I have the same problem or not. My album art work shows up fine on the i-pod and in the small "now playing" window on the lower left of my pc but the main view window shows that "Itunes is unabke to browse album covers on this computer". I was always able to view this for as long as I have had the i-pod in the past before but now cant. On my PC (I tunes)the "Cover flow view" is selected and no matter what preference is selected the same message comes up and can not see album art work anymore on main window above song list.

  • Artwork not displaying

Artwork is not always displayed when "Now Playing" selected in artwork pane. The words "Album Artwork Not Modifiable" instead appear in the artwork pane. The problem seems to be restricted to AIFF songs. Artwork of AAC encoded songs seems not to be effected. This problem did not occur previously and I wonder if it has only occurred since upgrading to iTunes 5.0.1.

I am experiencing the exact same behavior. "Selected Song" artwork displays. When I toggle to "Now Playing" mode I get the "Album Artwork Not Modifiable" message. Also specific to AIFF, running iTunes 5.0.1 (4). Any work arounds? I am not interested in converting my library to AAC/MP3 as my audio snobbery restricts me to AIFF.

  • Album artwork not appearing on Apple TV

Album artwork not appearing on Apple TV anyone with same problem or fix

Bilk you're not alone! No Album Art work will load on my Apple TV now, despite having artwork for ALL my albums, my iOS devices display the the artwork (iTunes Match) I live in the UK. (Virgin Media customer) I've had nothing but problems since the last 2 OS updates, I have 3rd and 2nd gen Apple TVs, both now have the same problems, I have done full restore on both devices, still doesn't work. I hope Apple fixes the software soon.

  • ITunes U Collection artwork not displaying?

I was recently troubleshooting an issue where some of our iTunes U Collection's artwork were not displaying correctly,  represented by the generic iTunes U thumbnail. I then discovered the GIF image format is no longer supported http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/DZR.woa/wa/viewSeeAll?frId=13264121237549&id= 421324250&id=421324250 so I replaced the GIF formatted artwork with PNG formatted artwork for 68 Collections and Episodes, updated the feeds, waited a week to discover all have been resolved except two Collections still displaying the generic iTunes U artwork http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/DZR.woa/wa/viewSeeAll?frId=13264121237549&id= 421324250&id=421324250.
The two Collections in question are:
    • Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Sciences - http://itunes.apple.com/au/itunes-u/faculty-engineering-industrial/id421324755 feed from RSS http://www.commons.swinburne.edu.au/feeds/podcast_ID34.xml
    • Faculty of Design - http://itunes.apple.com/au/itunes-u/faculty-of-design/id421324727 feed from RSS http://www.commons.swinburne.edu.au/feeds/podcast_ID37.xml
I can see from the iTunes U Public Site Manager the questionable Collections are using the updated PNG file now. I can also see this issue and the like has been raised in the iTunes U - Apple Support Communities
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/13386384#13386384
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/12457068#12457068
but I see no solutions or recent comments.
I have now found some Episodes associated to the above two Collections with JPG formatted artwork not displaying correctly via iTunes U on iOS?
Anyone got any suggestions to resolve these issues?

Thank you for your answer. But you know what; I think that the artwork is embeded with every iTunes collection, otherwise it wouldn't be shown at the iTunes store.
I think the problem is with how iTunes handles downloaded collections. Apple has to do some work on iTunes, now that they are promoting iTunes U.

  • "album artwork not modifiable"

after upgrading to version 7 it seems that the albums in my library have randomly been designated as "album artwork not modifiable" , making it impossible for me to even manually add the artwork.
    any help appreciated.

For some reason, iTunes 7.0 is converting songs to QuickTime Movie files when it imports music into your song library. I'm not sure how to fix THAT, as it may be a bug with iTunes itself.
Instead of reverting to 6, try converting the file to something other than a QuickTime file (control + click or right-click and select "convert selection to xxx"). Once the file is converted to a format other than a QT movie, you should be able to save album artwork on that new file. Just delete the original (apple + i for the information screen to confirm that you are deleting the right file).
I just tried it myself, and it looks like this should work until Apple fixes iTunes 7. I've never seen iTunes import files as a QuickTime movie. I assume this is only a problem for MP3 files, because I tried importing an AAC file and it worked just fine.
    Hope this helps!

  • Updating Album Art, when iTunes says "Album Artwork Not Modifiable"

How can I go about updating or adding album art when the Artwork area at the lower left corner of iTunes says, "Album Artwork Not Modifiable"? Every effort to add the artwork from iTunes has failed. When I paste the album photo from another site, it doesn't save.

I figured this out. I found that the folder and files only had "read" privileges and not "read & write" privileges. I did the following:
    1. In finder I right clicked the parent folder for iTunes and selected "Get Info".
    2. Selected my user and changed the rights to "read & write".
    3. This step is the most important. With my user still selected in blue, you click on the options "cog wheel" below the users, at the bottom. Select, "Apply to the enclosed items". It may ask you again if you are sure, say "yes". By doing this you will apply your users "read & write" privileges to all folders and files underneath your iTunes folder.
This worked for me and I wish you the best!

  • Why is "Album Artwork Not Modifiable" ?

I've seen this problem with certain MP3 files. However, this is now happening with some other songs that are AAC format. Can someone help me?
    Thanks!

The option is not available; it says the Album Artwork Not Modifiable. Why not?!
The files are read-only or non-writable for some reason. Album Artwork is added to the files themselves, and if they're read only, iTunes can't add the artwork.
The reason it works after you convert the file is because the new copy of the file is not marked read-only.

  • Album Artwork not modifiable - why?

I'm having problems with my Podcast (channel) album art. It's a 300 x 300 jpeg, 72 dpi, but iTunes is telling me that its not modifiable. I've tried different file names - still doesn't work. Is there a colour depth limit? If so what is it? And is there a nice easy way to convert it using PSP7?

  • Album artwork not modifiable problems

I can get album art from lots of places, the problem is I tunes will not let me put in. keeps coming up with album artwork not modifiable I'm not trying to modify anything. I just want to put some album art in. Is there a way around this ?? I tunes is pretty good most of the time, but sometimes it makes a person want to just go sit in a corner and eat dirt..........
      Windows XP

Ah, okay. Well, if you are trying to get artwork by using that handy "Get Album Artwork" feature of iTunes, it is likely that you aren't going to get some art because the iTunes database doesn't have every album under the sun.
So here is what you do: 1) Run a Google image search, or something similar, and find the artwork online. (If you own the album physically, you can always scan the artwork into your computer yourself if you have a scanner.)
    2) Save the artwork to your hard drive (make sure it's a jpg or other common format).
    3) Open iTunes, and select all the songs in an album that you wish to add the artwork to (should be highlighted in blue), right- or ctrl-click on the selection, and select "Get Info." You will probably get a "Do you want to do this?" window, so hit "okay."
    4) You should see a section in the lower-right corner of the new window that says "Album Art" or similar. Double-click on that empty space, and navigate to the file you just saved on your hard drive.
    5) Select the art, hit all of the okay buttons you need to, and let iTunes process it.
    Voilà, you have album art.

  • Album Artwork not working properly in Movies....

    Hey All..
I'm having a little trouble with iTunes. I click on movies then on coverflow and it's kinda coming up strange. When I highlight a movie in the list it's not the right artwork thats coming up. Most of them have the right artwork but the same one ("Hitch" in this case) seems to replace the artwork on several of my movies. I am having no problems with the regular music coverflow...just movies. Any ideas?
    Thanks...

    @straeg22
    *Rebuild artwork cache*
Sometimes the artwork cache becomes corrupt and fails to show correct artwork, even when this is properly set up in iTunes. To rebuild the artwork cache, connect your iPod to iTunes. Locate the iPod in the Sources pane on the left-hand side, then select the Music tab. Remove the tick from *Display album artwork on your iPod*, sync the iPod, reselect the option & sync again.
    @RTJB
It's not that unusual for iTunes to occasionally get either the wrong artwork, or none even when you can see the correct art in the store. The easiest way to deal with this is to select the tracks, right/option click and *Clear downloaded artwork*, then use Google, Amazon, Discogs etc. to locate relevant images. Ideally these should be square, 320x320 pixels or above and borderless to give the best results in the various menus. For your iTunes compilation it may not be possible to get the artwork elsewhere however you could take a screenshot of the iTunes store page and then crop down to the cover.
