Album artwork not showing - all prefs etc are set

hi - I just transferred all of my iTunes data from my pc to my new MBP. The music transferred fine, but the artwork is not showing. I logged in to the iTunes store, set prefs to auto download, did a manual download, & made sure all was set for art to show. Still just black boxes. Can someone please help?

What I have found since the most recent iTunes update is I will have the same problem on my 4G iPod not displaying the artwork for purchased tracks.
What I've found for me is that the artwork is there, it is just not being recognized on the song playing screen. Cycling through the options by pressing the "select" button while the song is playing forces the iPod to recognize the artwork when it attempts to display the full size version of the artwork. Then, when I cycle back to the song playing screen, the artwork is again visible.
I'm assuming this has something to do with the way iTunes no longer stores the album artwork downloaded from the store as part of the song file. Just a guess on my part.

  • Album artwork not showing in album tab

I don't know why but the album artowrk for one of my albums is not showing on my iPhone. Each individual song in the album has the artowrk, but it doesn't show up in the albums tab on the bottom of the music app. So in the albums tab where you can scroll through each album, the artowrk is missing. The album artowrk should be right next to the name of the album, but it just has that defualt musical note for stuff that doesn't have artowrk. I didn't download this album off of iTunes but I made sure the info for each song matched the info on iTunes. I get a little OCD when it comes to my music library, and I even deleted all the artwork for each song on the album, and redownloaded the artwork by right-clicking each song and clicking "Get Album Artowrk". Like I said, all the info matches the info on the iTunes store. Even when you view the album in cover flow it displays the album artowrk just fine, and when you play each individual song in the album you can see the artwork. Me being OCD about my music and all, it is just driving me crazy having that one album not have artwork while the rest of my albums do. I have never had this problem before and I just can't stand it.

Just a guess: make sure you have the album's name exactly the same, including capital letters in every song.
Also: you can select all songs from that album, right click, get info and change the album name for all songs at once, that should fix it.

  • Library- Music does not show all songs, some are in playlists?

I just discovered (the hard way) that my Music 'directory' (the first item under Library on the left pane) is not showing all the songs I have installed. I have several playlists that list and play songs not in the main library.
How do I fix this? Is it possible to preserve all my playlists in the process?
    iTunes 8.2

I think I have it resolved although I am not 100% confident of that. All I did was drag them back in to iTunes from the iTunes folder and skip the dupes.
I am missing a bunch of songs, and a quick check of my hard drive does not turn them up either. This is stuff I would not have deleted. Really mysterious. Unnerving too.

  • Album artwork not showing on iPod touch 5th gen

    Hey guys,
I really need help on this. The issue has been bugging me the last several weeks and it is driving me nuts.
After I updated my iPod touch to 6.1.3 as well as itunes on my windows to ver.11.0.2.26 (or the one before),
I could no longer add album art to any of the new songs I add to my iPod.
The weird thing is that album arts are there in itunes under get info ---> artwork,
but they just never show on the actual screen of iPod touch no matter what I do. I tried to hit the sync button,
remove/add the songs back to itunes again, even restored the iPod touch but didn't do a thing. Now all the previous songs' artworks are gone.
I like to organize all songs manually so are all the artworks. I google the image and copy/paste to each song by going under get info ---> artwork
Tried to get album artworks using the itunes feature but since some of the songs I have are foreign songs, so it wouldn't work either.
I also don't use library to organize my music since I have some duplicates and they just look really messy in library.
I simply just drag and drop music on the iPod itself.
Is anybody out there having the same issue? I called Apple and they had no clue to why.
It worked perfectly fine until the last update. Now I am really regretting the update. All the songs are now showing nothing but music
note on the screen with title and artist name.
    Help will be appreciated!

Glad to know I wasn't the only one with this issue.
As an update to my issue, the album artwork all the sudden reappeared on my iPod yeasterday.
Still don't know the actual cause or what actually got itself fixed but here's how I did:
    - Back up your iPod first. Since I didn't have much to lose on my iPod, for those who have alot of stuff on there should promptly do so just in case.
    - Go to this link: http://www.doctorchewy.com/album-artwork-woes/
      and follow the procedures.
    - Some people might get the album artwork back working properly again by the end of the procedure above, but it still didn't work for me so I suspected it was itunes so I uninstalled the itunes from my PC and reinstalled.
    - It still didn't want to show album artwork after reinstallation so instead of synching it to the PC, I used my Macbook (OSX 10.6.8) and downloaded the older version itunes (10.7) through here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1576
    - It still didn't show after days followed but while I almost bang my head against the screen, I figured
    that go to get info------> artwork, click add, select the image file, click ok, and if it still wouldn't show;
click on the image and delete the image. Repeat the previous step once again, and it should start synching to your iPod after hitting ok. If it doesn't sync automatically, hit sync and voila. The album artwork should once again, show on your iPod like before.
Again, the process is somewhat hectic but hey, it works now. I'm still hesitant to sync with the newest itunes though. I don't know how my iPod was able to sync with a PC and my Macbook but I was able to manage and keep all the stuff, minus the music, before the problem occured. Let me know how you guys did.

  • ITunes album artwork not showing

I operate a college internet-only radio station.  The system we use is based on iTunes.
Each week, music distributors send me links to download new music.  On average, I load about 20 albums per week into the system.  The files are usually .zip files, and contain a .jpg for album artwork, a .pdf with band info, and a folder containing the .mp3 files for the songs.  I unarchive the .zip file, then click-and-drag the resulting folder into iTunes.
About 1/3 of the time, everything works as expected.  The music is copied into the iTunes library and the artwork appears as well.  The majority of the time, though, the artwork does not appear in iTunes.
I've scrutinized these files, and am unable to spot any difference between the ones that work and the ones that don't.  The heirarchy of the unarchived files and folders is the same, the images are roughly the same size.
I know how to go back in and add the artwork, but doing so for 15 albums each week is extra work I'd rather avoid.  Any ideas why it works so inconsistently, and how to rectify that?
    mahalo!
    Tom G

I'm not so sure, but I don't think you can turn off artwork unless you erase the image files from the files in the Get Info feature you get in the list you get when right-clicking on the music files, what can be done tho is to hide the features that show the artwork like the button to the right of the repeat button and the cover flow button next to the search bar.
I have the same problem but only with certain artwork, not all, I added images to all my files before and hardly ever did I get this problem, I usually added the same image or another image to make the cover flow "react", so to speak; the funny thing with my problem is that the files in question still have the artwork I put before in the Get info thingy, they appear whenever I see the info tab of then files, and when they're playing, the image shows at the bottom of the playlists list(above the repeat button and that), but the artwork doesn't show in the cover flow (-- =S ???--), no notifications show up about what's happening, and the image file I added is just a regular .JPEG of an album.
Now does this mean the iTunes is having some sort of behavior issues or it just fancies playing with me? =S

  • Album Artwork not showing up in Nano

I just got a Nano and I have been importing my CD's to iTunes so that I can put it on my Nano. I have manually put in the artwork for the albums, but they're still not showing up in my Nano. I see it in iTunes under my iPod when connected, but not on the actual iPod. I'm reading a lot about "syncing" with the computer, but I don't really understand what it means. Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Sony Vaio   Windows XP   Nano/Shuffle

    Hi,
'Syncing' just means plugging your nano in, and if everything is set to auto (usually this is how it comes straight out of the box) iTunes should fire up and copy your tracks to the nano.
Here is a link to the tutorial if you haven't already gone through it:
Add Song Information, Lyrics, and Artwork to My Tunes
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod101/tunes/2/#4
You shouldn't have to convert ID3 tags as far as I know.
I put the album art straight onto my iPod when it was connected to iTunes
Not sure if this is the problem - the Artwork goes on the track in iTunes first, then you sync (load) the tracks to the iPod.
The artwork becomes part of the mp3 file so it gets moved across to the iPod when you load your track.
If you are still having problems after going through all this then get back and we'll try work out what to do next.
You may want to do the restore step to set it back to factory conditions: The 5 Rs: Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall & Restore

  • Album artwork not showing up on apple TV but does in iTunes

I have had some syncing issues with ATV but seem to have gotten things to sync (occasionally) but even when I am syncd only about 10 out of a few hundred albums display the artwork on ATV? Is this a syncing problem still or should I not expect the artwork to show up?

Same here.  It's been working just fine for months and suddenly last night (01/05/12) I no longer have any access to iTunes Store or Netflix from the main menu. My only choices are Internet, Computers, and Settings. And according to the settings, it still indicates that I am still signed-in to iTunes.

  • Album Artwork not Showing for iTunes Backup

A friend of mine has contacted me with a question that I've ran out of ideas to try.  He has an iTunes library where the media files are located on an external disk (formatted HFS+) and he is using a second external drive -- also HFS+ -- for backup (he is currently just copying the files -- I've told him about time machine, but that's a different topic).    When he looks at the music files in finder, he sees the album artwork.  However, the same is not true on the backup drive.
If I understand the iTunes file layout correctly. Artwork is stored in the same folder as the database files and the media files (music in this case) reference the artwork path.  I'm a little confused on why that reference wouldn't work on the backup drive, but it does on the media drive (assuming they are both plugged into the computer where the database/artwork is stored).
    Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

The covers should show, as soons your short albums will contain more tracks. When your "Summer Sessions EP" has at least five tracks, the cover should be displayed as well, like for your "Conception" album, for there will be enough space for it.
    Regards

  • Album Art - Not showing all in Album View or Cover Flow

Recently I redid my Itunes Libary where with one artist with songs from several different albums, (and album artwork), renamed the album under Get Info to "Greatest Hits". Now, the specific album art for each song shows when the song is playing, but under Album View/Cover Flow only one Album Art shows for each artist. Assume this had something to do with my renaming multiple songs for the artist to Greatest Hits. Is there any way to get back the specific Album Art for each song under Album View/Cover Flow? Thanks.

If you are only adding it to one song, that won't work. Itunes itself does this for artwork that it finds automatically, but if you want to add them yourself you have to add the artwork to every track. Find the track that you added the artwork to copy the artwork using command - C , then select all of the tracks at the same time in itunes, do a get info and paste the artwork into the artwork window of the tagging window.

  • My album artwork not showing in my iPhone? Help?

Some album artworks appears to be have shown but most of them are not! I know there's gotta to do something with iPhone summary settings once you connected via iTunes but I can't seem to figure out. Help!

Just a guess: make sure you have the album's name exactly the same, including capital letters in every song.
Also: you can select all songs from that album, right click, get info and change the album name for all songs at once, that should fix it.

  • ITunes 10 Album Artwork Not Showing Up In Screen Saver

After installing iTunes 10, my screen saver settings (which used to pull from my iTunes Album Artwork) are no longer working. The screen saver option now says "Your iTunes Library does not contain any songs with artwork" yet it does. The screen saver option is no longer finding it. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thank you.

    I have exactly the same.
Screensaver settings says: "Your iTunes library does not contain any songs with artwork" which is simply lie! ;-)
almost all albums covers are there in my main library.
    newest iTunes 10.5.3 (3) 64-bit
    Lion with all add-ons
not long ago I have joined iTunes Match.. unfortunately haven't checked if it works before for long time..
I have: repaired permissions, removed com.apple.screensaver. iTunesArtwork* in ~Library/Preferences/ByHost/.
    Still nothing.
I have found that ~/Music/iTunes/Album Artwork/ has 4 directories inside:
    Cache
    Cloud
    Download
    Local
.. first 3 had random named dir (the same) with what seems to be artworks directories. Local was empty still copying there this random dir didn't help too..
    Any ideas please?

  • Album art not showing all the time

Is there a way to keep the album artwork to consistently show up? It seems like everytime I go into the music section, there's artwork missing...even though it's all there in iTunes and I sync it every time.

  • Album Artwork not showing!?

Ok, I know this question has been asked before, and answered. And this is happened to me before on my old 30gb IPod, but I just got the 32gb IPod Touch, and it happened yet again on this IPod. With my old IPod I fixed the problem by doing this:
    "This is how:
    1. Select your iPod in the Devices part of iTunes.
    2. Select the Music tab.
    3. Uncheck the "Display album artwork on your iPod" checkbox.
    4. Click Apply. The iPod will start to update.
    5. After all artwork is removed, check the previous checkbox again, and press
    apply. This should fix it!"
It worked on my old IPod, but I was going to do it with my new IPod, but I can't find the "Display album artwork on your iPod."
Where is it? I don't know where to find that setting anymore!

I'm also having this problem. I have an iPod 60G Video. The artwork was showing correctly on it until I updated the iPod software to 1.1. All of the artwork is showing correctly in iTunes, but none of it is showing on the iPod itself. I read in another iPod forum that if you go into the iPod options/preferences and uncheck, sync, recheck, sync the "Display album Artwork on you iPod" it has corrected the problem. However, with me, it has not.
I'm using iPod software 1.1 and iTunes 6.0.2.23. Apple support suggested that I restore my iPod and put everything back on. However with more than 7000 songs and several days worth of putting together the album artwork for all of it, I'm not exactly excited about having to redo it all.
    Please help!

  • Most album artwork not showing on iPod after upgrade 1.0.2

When I was on version 1.0.1 on my 160GB iPod classic, I had to tell iTunes NOT to show cover art on my iPod, or else it would make the iPod crash all the time.
Since I thought upgrading 1.0.2 would fix this, I updated my iPod and I told iTunes to show album art on my iPod.
Now, out of all the artwork that shows up fine in iTunes, only about 30% shows up at all on my iPod.
    Why?
    Message was edited by: Hypersky

    Bump, same issue.
About half of the album art shown in iTunes shows up on iPod classic 80gb.
Some album art files could not even be assigned in iTunes. I'm too OCD for this stuff.
