Album Artwork on 8GB

My 8GB nano is set to display album artwork but it doesn't show the artwork I've manually added to the iPod (whether I updated the artwork by dragging a photo or via the "get info" menu option).
I can see it when playing the song (from the nano library) when connected to iTunes.
Also (less of a problem) the iPod shows artwork that was added on songs on iTunes even though this doesn't show when I play a song from the iPod while connected to iTune.
I've tried resetting the ipod but it didn't make any diffence.

You might try toggling the artwork on and off.
In the iPod settings, under the music tab, uncheck "show album art..." and then hit apply. The iPod shouldn't show any artwork. Then go back and turn "show album artwork..." back on. iTune might show a progress bar and say something about optimizing artwork in the main display.
I've had artwork go funcky before. Not showing up or putting the wrong art with the wrong album. This usually clears up the problem.

  • Itunes album artwork problem on 11.4.0.18

Recently after the update to iTunes 11.4.0.18 I've noticed my album artwork not displaying correctly for some albums.  They appear jumbled, but only the album thumbnail.  I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, with an AMD processor & 8GB of RAM.
If you right click on a song in an album that appears to have a jumbled thumbnail, and click on Get Info, the album artwork appears perfectly fine in the summary tab as well as the artwork tab.  I've tried deleting the artwork then choosing get artwork for that particular album.  In most cases this has worked, with a few giving a message that artwork could not be found.  I've tried copying the artwork from the Get Info>Artwork tab, deleting it, then pasting it again and this also seems to take care of the problem when viewing the album thumbnail.  It's just crazy having to do this for each and every album that is displaying a jumbled artwork thumbnail.
Anyone come across this in v11.4.0.18?  Is there an easier way to fix this thumbnail problem than going through each and every album that seems messed up?

I can't see your image, but what may work is to delete the folder Album Artwork and then scroll through the entire library in Albums view.

  • Do I have to cut and paste album artwork for all the albums in my library?

So my 4gb ipod 1st gen is pretty much dead so I've bought a 3rd gen. 8gb nano, upgraded my iTuunes software to 7.5 and syncd my library onto my new iPod. All songs I've bought from iTunes have album artwork and one other old album I uploaded myself alos has album artwork but all 130 of the other albums in my library do not have artwork.
I've gone to Advanced> Get Album Artwork, but I get the error message "could not find some artwork". I can't understand why only one of my uploaded albums has artwork visible on iTunes but all of the others don't? Do I really ahve to cut and past from Amazon for each album? Hope the anser is "No" becasue that's really time consuming!

I guess you've figured out that the answer is "yes". Remember you can do groups of songs (like an album) at a time by selecting them and doing "get info". Also, by saving album art in the mp3 file, you can save it permanently.

  • How much space does album artwork need?

I have about 15,000 songs in my iTunes library, of which only a small percentage (maybe 5-10%) have album artwork.
If I get artwork for all(or most) of the rest of the library, how much ipod space will that use?
I have 4 ipods, only one of which can display artwork. Roughly, how would all the artwork impact what I can store on the displaying ipod?
Does artwork have any impact on storage capacity for non-displaying ipods?
    Thanks !
    Carl

If iTunes gets the artwork, it will not affect the amount of songs on the iPod.
If you add the artwork yourself to songs, it will affect the amount you can put on the iPod as artwork you get yourself is stored as part of the song file and transferred to the iPod, even if the iPod cannot display artwork.
If the artwork is 200kB & you add that to all songs, it will be ~2.8GB just for artwork.

  • Album artwork on itunes

    Hey guys,
So i'm new to all this ipod/itunes stuff \nd i havnt been doing bad by myself. I have one question that no one can seem to answer for me so hopefully someone on here can...
Ive brought myself a new ipod 8gb nano to go with my new laptop..i got itunes, ive synced ipod and itunes etc, got songs on my ipod the thing is the albums ive ripped to itunes havnt taken the artwork with them, so when i click on the album and select download album artwork it tells me that i must be logged in to or sign up into the 'store' which ive done and still doesnt work, ive been logged in at the dame time as trying to downkload the art work but still nothing and it just doesnt look very cool, with no artwork for my albums, so does anyone know how to get the artwork for my music albums on itunes, so that i can have the artwork on my ipod too???????

*the thing is the albums ive ripped to itunes havnt taken the artwork with them,*
CDs don't contain artwork, you can either add the artwork manually or (if the album is available in the iTunes store) you can have iTunes download it automatically from there. iTunes will only fetch artwork for albums that are on sale in the iTunes Music Store (and sometimes even that doesn't work if the info tags aren't identical). If you have a lot of albums that are not available to iTunes because they are older, obscure or simply not at present licensed for sale in the store then iTunes won't add any artwork.
You'll get information on both methods of adding artwork at this link: iTunes for Windows - Adding artwork to songs and other items
if you can't find the album covers you want from iTunes you can get them from various other sources. I find this site is a good source of artwork: CD/Album Cover Art Search from SlothRadio.
Another place for finding suitable artwork is to go to Amazon. You can also locate artwork using Google image search and put the artist or album name. Locate the album from any of those sources, right click on the image and save it to the desktop, once it's there drag it to the iTunes artwork pane. Once you've added the artwork you can either delete the original file or keep it in a folder somewhere in case you need to use it again. Alternatively there are programs like these that help locate artwork: iTunes Art Importer or MP3 Tag
If you have a scanner you can create your own artwork files by scanning the CD cover itself, this is particularly useful when you are dealing with rare recordings.

  • Album artwork incorrect

Is anyone experiencing the wrong cover art showing up after you let your playlists repeat? When I initially play my playlist, all is fine and dandy, but when my playlist repeats, the song showing is correct, but the album artwork is completely wrong. So I could be listening to the Shins, but Guns N Roses artwork shows up. I can replicate on my 8GB 3g nano. Anyone else have this?

Yes, I'm getting this issue too, although in my case it's as a result of using "Shuffle Songs" mode - initially the artwork is correct but after a period of time (possibly related to number of songs played - if I skip tracks and/or jump to previous tracks it happens sooner) it gets all scrambled up. Turning Shuffle or Repeat modes off, or stopping the playlist and choosing something else will clear it up OK for me. Rebooting (per the other poster in the thread) is a temporary fix also.
Whilst it's clearly Yet Another 1.0C Firmware Glitch, it's at least an amusing one: Some of the artwork / track juxtapositions it's come up with for me have been fairly amusing

  • Missing album artwork / iTunes 12 not correctly synced to iPhone

    Hi all.
Earlier, I simply wanted to add a couple of albums to my iPhone 5S (running iOS 8.1.3) that I purchased on CD.
After being unable to add the songs due to the commonly occurring 'ghosting' issue, I checked on my iPhone to see if they had appeared in the Music app. They didn't.
Instead, most of my album artwork was removed, seemingly at random. First thing I tried was deleting and manually adding a few of the affected songs. No luck with that. Secondly, I restored the iPhone from a backup. Again, nothing. I again tried to delete and re-add the tracks, which still didn't work.
Frustrated, I decided I'd just delete all the music through the usage menu on the phone and manually re-add it all. Here's where the main problem occurs: iTunes still lists 8gb and 900+ songs still being on the iPhone despite there being none. I figured this must be part of the issue, the iTunes troubleshoot menu lists everything as being fine, so I decided to update iTunes. Yet again, no luck.
I'm hesitant to delete the "music" on the phone through iTunes as I assume it should detect the music being removed, and I feel it would only cause further problems.
Essentially, after attempting to add 2 albums I'd recently bought and ripped off of a CD (though iTunes), it would not add to the phone and instead is only listed through iTunes with the light grey writing. This randomly broke most album art on the phone, and after restoring the phone/updating iTunes didn't work, I deleted all music off the phone. iTunes still lists all the music as being on there.
Running the latest version of iTunes on Windows 7.

Generally if syncing doesn't work as expected take the following steps:
    Backup device.
    Restore as a new device.
    Restore the backup made earlier.
This assumes all content on the device is in your library. If that isn't the case see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • Change album artwork.

I get very annoyed as having a vast collection of songs in i-tunes including cloud, to find that the resolution of the artwork is rubbish for some (not all) albums when viewed. It is even more exaggerated and crap when viewed via Apple TV onto my television.
To attempt a change of the artwork, I have highlighted the desired album with a lower resolution artwork, right clicked and selected "clear downloaded artwork."  Having done this, I then slected 'get info' for each track in turn and selecting the artwork tab, delete the album artwork. Having "cleared" all artwork both on album as well as each individual track, I then drop a better resolution album art (160x160) into the album "get info" This appears to work as the higher resolution artwork can be seen in i-tunes. HOWEVER - once i-tunes has been closed down and re-opened the old poor artwork (which appears to be no better than 90x90) is displayed again.
What I can't get my head around is why some albums have higher resolution when others are rubbish and won't display (and retain) the "replaced" higher res artwork despite going through above process!
I have even reverted to delete the album from library and match, then reinstall/burn from the CD. The same result with rubbish resolution for the artwork!
Anybody managed to be able to remove/change and "hold" a replaced (higher res) artwork.
I believe that unless you have bought the album from i-tunes store then "get album artwork" will not work for the selected album, even if it was matched in the cloud! Is this correct?
Just to add further to the problem, when artwork displayed on my i-pad, it may not pick up any artwork at all, despite i-tunes displaying the artwork.

    Hi there,
Did you move the entire My Music > iTunes folder? If so this will contain all your album covers etc already...
If you only moved the My Music > iTunes > iTunes Music folder, this folder only contains the music files...

  • Album Artwork - a few questions

I used the "Get Album Artwork" command for many of my albums (mostly ripped in MusicMatch and then imported into iTunes). This often works, adding the artwork to all the tracks with that one search.
When that fails to find the artwork, I try to find the artwork myself (Amazon, or other sites). But, it seems that I need to manually add the art to each track individually. Is there a more efficient way to do the manual add? About how much storage is required for the artwork for each track?
Sometimes, when I look at the Get Info summary screen, instead of the album art or blank box that says "No Artwork Available" there is a dot. Are these corrupt entries? Any way to fix this?
Lastly, after adding album artwork to iTunes, how do I get it over to the iPod. I don't auto-sync because I have far more music than space allows on the 8GB Nano. Would I need to delete the albums from the iPod and then re-transfer the albums from iTunes?

+Highlight all the songs in the album. Right-click, Get Info. Say yes at the prompt, and then the artwork that you add will apply to all of them.+
I get the prompt to browse to where the artwork is stored only when I right-click on a single track. I don't get that option when multiple tracks are selected.
+Before you paste it in, right-click the image and look at Properties. 10kB, 30kB, 70kB would be pretty typical values for those kind of JPEGs. They are small compared to the music file.+
Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. I know how to tell how large the image file is. what I'm asking is if I manually associate the artwork with 10 tracks, does the file take up 10x the amount of space or is it stored only once, with 10 pointers to that single art file.

  • Album artwork will not sync with my Ipod Touch

I have the latest 8GB Ipod Touch.  I have gone into the info setting and changed the settings so that I can copy/paste album artwork not found by Apple.  The problem is this artwork will show up prior to be synced but once I synce my Ipod the artwork will not show up.  Can someone help me figure out how to fix this?  Thank you for your help!!!!!!!

Have you checked on your iPod Touch to make sure that Podcasts are not restricted?
Look on the iPod in Settings/General/Restrictions. If it is on, go into the Restrictions and check to see what specific restrictions you have for Podcasts.
If it is not on, check again when you connect your iPod to your iTunes Library.
When the Device appears on the left hand side, select Device. You are now on the Summary pane. At the top of the window, you will see Summary selected. Look to the right for the Podcasts pane and select that. On this pane are the Podcast Sync options.

  • Wrong album artwork syncing to iPhone

on my Mac and from what I've seen on my iPad as well the right album artwork displays but on my iPhone it seems to like mix up the artwork on some songs, some downloaded from iTunes, some ripped from a CD, like I might have a song from Adele but on the iPod and also on the lock screen it will show maybe the artwork of Jack Johnson! I mean its not a big deal but does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thank you

It gives you the ability to use multiple computers to manually add your own music, i.e. music you have legitimately acquired, to your iPod. For example, I have 2 computers, I manually manage my music on my iPod Classic so I can hook it up to my MacBook Pro and put songs on that I don't have on my Mac Pro.
I also has a car that will go much faster than the speed limit. Just because it gives me that ability does not allow me to drive 120 mph on a local street.

  • Album artwork is in iTunes but it does not show up on my iPhone, how do I fix this?

I like to have all my albums have artwork so on my iTunes I made sure that they do. Everyone of my albums have artwork in iTunes but when i sync my iPhone none of them show up.

This same thing happened to me, so I plugged my iphone into the computer and I unchecked all the songs so it deleted from my phone and then i rechecked sync music back to the phone and all the album artwork were there.

  • ITunes keeps resetting and asking me if I want to download album artwork!

Hi, it seems as though every time I open iTunes these days the stupid window pops up asking if I want it to automatically download album artwork. I click "No, blah blah blah." And then iTunes opens. At the left is the "Download" option thing (in green under the "Store" section), when I click it, a window pops up saying "Would you like iTunes to check if you have any unfinished downloads?" or something like that. I say, again (and of course) "No."
The "Download" button subsequently goes away and that is all that happens. But it happens repeatedly, every time I open the program! Obviously these settings are not saving--and it seems to be even more of a fundamental problem than that, perhaps some file is corrupted somewhere.
    Any thoughts?

Same here. And it doesn't seem to matter which way
you answer the question, it just keeps asking.
HOWEVER -- I had not seen this post before I restored 6:

If anyone could report if this solves the "won't remember the download art" setting, please let us know.

  • How Can I sync iTunes album artwork with album folders on my Mac

    Small Issue,
I just got a new macbook pro and uploaded copied the iTunes music folder from my PC, to an external hard drive then to the "music" folder in the Finder on my Mac.  I then went into iTunes and added my library via the "add music" link (or something like that)
All the music upload and most of the album artwork was missing.  I clicked "Get Album Artwork" and it replaced most of the album artwork
Here is the issue I need help with...
Some of the albums, which have album artwork inside iTunes, do not have album artwork if I go to the album folder in the finder.  Is there anyway to get this artwork to sync up with the folder?
I ask because, I am kinda anal and like the artwork to show up if I play a song from the spotlight (I like playing music that way)
Am I going to have to manually add the album artwork into the finder folders?

  • My album artwork does not match the song in my playlists

After making playlists with music purchased from itunes in my music app, the art work does not match the title of the song / album. How can I fix this problem?

    Hi freezerman84,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with Album Artwork on your iPhone 5. To troubleshoot this issue, it may be best to completely resync your iPhone with iTunes. To do so, uncheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes (so there is ultimately no music syncing to your iPhone).
Once you have done that, recheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes. This will instruct iTunes to completely remove all music from your iPhone, and then copy the files once more. If you have a large amount of music, this initial sync may take a while.
If the above does not resolve your issue, it may be necessary to restore your iPhone:
