  • Album Artwork Randomly Disappearing

    Hi all,
I'm sorry if this has already been asked / answered but a quick search did not pull anything up. After painstakingly adding artwork to every song in my library, it seems that iTunes is randomly deleting some of the art. It seems like everytime I load iTunes or sync my iPod Touch a few dozen songs have lost their artwork. It's very frustrating to have to go back, figure out which songs have been affected and retrieve the art again and again. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have the exact same issue. I spent days digitising my colleciton and painstakingly adding artwork to the MP3s. Now after reinstalling iTunes some of it has randomly gone missing!!!
It all shows fine in Windows, WMP and WMC so I know it's still in the files.
Also it seemed to be ok until I ran Genius, and that's when eveything went bad
I'm not happy with iTunes right now, earlier it put 120 albums in an 'Unknown' folder and removed the ID3 tags. GRRRRRRRRSRRSRST&RSUA%SA Luckily I had a backup, but it's getting late and I'm really at my wits end with this now. Please sort out these annoying problems for 9.1!

  • All of a sudden my album artwork has disappeared from itunes !

    Hi all
When I go to "get info" on any of my itunes tracks the album artwork has disappeared, leaving only a blank space. It will not allow me to manually add a cover image as I always used to, leaving a blank space. However, if I play a track, the artwork still appears in the "now playing" window.
Where has all my cover art gone ?
    Any ideas ??

If the cover image still appears during playback, then it stands to reason that it is not missing. How are you looking at your artwork in the information window?
In the information window for a single track, the cover image is shown in the Summary and Artwork tabs, but you add or remove images in the latter. In the Multiple Item Information window the Artwork tag appears in the Info tab and it is presented as empty even thought the individual tracks do have an album cover image embedded. iTunes has operated in this fashion for some time now.

  • My artwork randomly disappears

iTunes artwork randomly and periodically disappears from my library. Sometimes I just have to click on it or actually start a song for it to appear, Sometimes it is gone altogether and I have to go online and find it again. I have experienced this with my library being stored on my macbook pro drive and and external drive. Does anyone now how to avoid this? Does anyone know how to make the artwork reappear without going through all 654 of my albums?
    Thanks

Oh, I've seen that when WMP was set to get track info from the internet.
Those same tracks with the weird hexadecimal comments? The "track x of y" info is missing the y, and some of them will have the Composer field nicely entered for you now.
I had to turn off that option in WMP on 3 tabs - General, Library, and Privacy. WMP just decided to do that on about 500 random tracks in my library on different days. It didn't show up in itunes until I went to look at those songs. Which makes it seem like itunes changed them, but I know itunes didn't.
AFAIK, WMP didn't mess with my artwork, but all my MP3 tags are ID3 v2.3. You can check by right-click > Get Info and check the Summary tab.
By deafult, itunes uses v2.2 which I always change.

  • Missing album artwork((randomly)

    Hi!
Twice in the recent five days the artwork of my music albums has disappeared. As randomly as they disappear, they also come back again if I choose a different album often, but not always. No reset or re-sync needed.
My unit is a 4 GB iPod nano.
    Anybody else experienced this?

Give this a try , it usually sorts out artwork problems:
    1. Connect your iPod
    2. Disable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    3. Syncronise the iPod with iTunes.
    4. Re-enable "Display album artwork" in iPod>Music tab and click Apply.
    5. Syncronise the iPod again.
Alternatively try restoring your iPod. Restoring will erase the iPod's hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete follow the on screen instructions and it should connect to iTunes and give you a prompt to automatically update your library onto the fresh installation. If you want to update manually or using selected playlists choose no and it will default to manual mode and you can choose whatever setting you like: Restoring iPod to factory settings with iTunes 7

  • Album Art Randomly Disappearing in I-Tunes

Background: I have an old version of Itunes (6.01.03) and I am running Windows XP. My library consists of songs ripped from CD's, downloaded from artist sites, downloaded from blogs or ripped from stream/converted to MP3.
Problem: The album artwork has been randomly disappearing from my mp'3 for quite a while. It is not limited to one type of file - download ones or ripped ones.
Songs with an id tag of v2.2 seem to be fine. Tags at v2.3 seem to lose the artwork. So I change the album tags from v2.3 to none to v2.2, then add the artwork, the select the convert selection to Mp3 option. The file then reads "encoded with ITunes 6.01.03".
This seems to work for a while. But the id tags eventually switch back to v2.3 and I lose the album artwork again.
I have spent countless hours on updating the album information and artwork only to keep losing it. Any suggestions on what I can do to keep losing the artwork or should I just give up on adding the artwork?

yeah, Apple doesn't post replies here, it is for user-to-user help.
I think the v2.2 tags are your problem, and something else on your PC is changing the tags, not iTunes. iTunes is not that smart....
I suspect Windows Media Player. It is installed on every PC, and the default iptions are to look things up on the internet. It can do this in the background, without you even thinking WMP has launched. Go in and look at your WMP options, set it to not update from the internet.
In my case, I had disappearing artwork with v2.2 tags. Then I would run it through a little program to figure out beats per minutes, and the artowkr was gone - because the tags for v2.2 were wrong.
After I converted everything to v2.3, disappearing artwork stopped.

  • ITunes album artwork randomly removed from iPhone after sync.

iTunes 12.1.0.50. IOS 8.1.3. iPhone 5.  23GB free space on iPhone.
Album art is randomly removed from iPhone after sync.  This seems to be new to the recent version of iTunes.
Removed and reinstalled all music. No help, problem still occurs.
Restored iPhone as a new iPhone and reinstalled all music.  At first, all artwork was installed, but on later sync, random artwork was removed or missing.  Problem reoccurs.
This appears to be a bug in the software somewhere.
    Anyone having similar problems?

    welcome to my world....
i have had this at least three times now in the past month.
I too had to do a factory reset and set up a a new phone.
i read an article about it being a known issue and something to do with duplicate tracks causing it to hang during sync.  it then fills up the available space with the dreaded "other" data and hey ho you have no music.
have a look at this, hope it helps and hope Apple get it fixed as it is affecting a lot of people

  • Randomly Disappearing Artwork

My album artwork keeps disappearing, but only in chunks. I'll have artwork for some songs on an album, but not all of them, and when I try to copy-paste it doesn't "stick."
All files are in the same format (MP3), with ID3 v2.4 tags. I'm stumped. Anyone have any ideas?

I've had times where artwork won't take in music files, I haven't encountered it yet in movies yet (knock on wood). I've been using MetaX (http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/24994/metax) to place artwork and other meta-data in the actual files themselves. When you add a file to iTunes the data automatically appears. If you update a file that already exists in iTunes using the iTunes Get Info command updates iTunes.

  • I downloaded some albums using my iphone, i then synced it with my PC. Now all the album artwork has gone from the songs i downloaded on my iphone, but not on the itunes on the pc. How can i get the artwork back on my iphone?

I downloaded some albums using my iphone (3GS), I then synced it with my PC. Now all the album artwork has disappeared off my iphone but not off itunes on the PC. How can I get the album artwork back onto my iphone?

I had the similar problem last night and found a solution (although it takes more than a few clicks).  Highlight all the album tracks in itunes on the pc and right click "get info". Check the artwork box in this window.  I found that the now playing art was showing up in the itunes window, but on songs that were missing artwork showed nothing in the get info box.  When I replaced the artwork by using the artwork command, or manually adding it into the "get info" window.  It was annoying but my iphone updated every album.

  • Album artwork lost on iTunes 11.1.3

I have noticed recently that since installing the latest version of iTunes that some album artwork has disappeared on my Macbook Pro but is still visible on other devices.
I am currently running OS X Mavericks.
    Any ideas?

Have you tried the ctrl click (right click) and then 'Get Album Artwork'?

  • Album Artwork Wiped Out

I have a 2nd generation iPod Nano & I use it on 3 different computers-- all are Windows (I believe Windows XP).
A few weeks back, while my iPod was connected to one of my computers, it disconnected on its own while it was plugged in. Or rather, it made the disconnecting sound & disappeared from iTunes, even though the iPod itself still showed the "Do Not Disconnect" message. I didn't know what to do in this case & not being the iPod expert (or even the computer expert!), I just unplugged it & then plugged it back in. I didn't want to do this, but I have done it before with no problems. This time, my music files remained fine, but ALL my album art had disappeared. The "display album artwork" box was checked, but I unchecked it & checked it again... most of my artwork came back, but I was able to replace the rest manually. After a few days, all my album art was back again, to my delight.
Now, just recently, on another computer, my iPod was plugged in as I was adding new music. When I went to eject it, that box came up saying my iPod was in use by another application. Again, not knowing what to do, and knowing that flat out unplugging it last time casued that artwork error, I tried resetting the iPod (while it was still plugged into the computer, with the "Do Not Disconnect" message flashing). Well, it got me back to the regular iPod menu screen again, at which point I just unplugged the iPod, but once again, ALL my album artwork had disappeared!!! Arrggh!! Only this time, I tried pugging it right back into the computer so I can immediately begin the process of re-adding all my artwork, but a message popped up that I never saw before: it said something along the lines of my computer not being able to recognize the data on my iPod. It suggested restoring to factory settings. I'd rather not do that just yet as I don't want to lose all my music (I'm going to try it on my computer tomorrow morning).
In the meantime, I was wondering if anyone knows what's causing these problems!! Is there a glitch? Am I doing something wrong? Isthere an easy way to get all my artwork back (why does unchecking & checking the display artwork box only bring back some of my artwork)? My iPod is 2 years old & beyond warranty. I think I'm just going to ask for a new iPod for Christmas, but it just seems silly that I'd have to throw the towel in on this one. Before I take it to an Apple Store & wait in that line, I thought I'd try these boards.
Sorry for the long rambly post... I wanted to cover all my bases so hopefully someone can tell me what's wrong!

iTunes doesn't do any automatic tag updating, but it does occasionally "discover" edits made by other software. I strongly suspect Windows Media Player will be the culprit here. Even if you don't actively use it, it may run in the background as a result of visiting websites with active content that uses it.
See this thread for some background and suggested options to disable in WMP.

  • IPhone 5 thumbnails for album artwork incorrect

I've been having a problem with the album artwork that displays as a thumbnail when you open the music app. For all the albums which contain music videos, a snapshot of the video appears to be replacing the normal artwork for the album. However when I open the album to view the tracklist, or actually play any of the songs in it, it displays the correct artwork as it did before the problem arose. So the issue here is simply with the thumbnails that display in the album menu of the music app.
This first started occurring after I attempted to sync my iPhone to my PC through iTunes, after which the thumbnails for the album artwork all disappeared entirely. I unsynced and redownloaded my music only to find that the thumbnails for several albums were still incorrect as I explained above.
Deleting the videos from the albums does not solve the issue, nor does redownloading the album in it's entirety.

This is what I figured out I went back to my itunes 10.7 on my MBP and all my album artwork that was not showing up on my iPhone 5  was showing up in coverflow on my MBP but after closer exam the ones missing from iphone 5 actually were missing from the selected item pane or the drag artwork here area so I downloaded and added my art by going to just the ones that were missing from that or you can get info on selected track and go to art tab and add it there after doing that on the first 25 missing I synced the phone and they all came back. Still don't know how they got stripped out of itunes in the preview but not the coverflow but I guess that's for the Geniuses at Apple to come up with. Apple please don't remove coverflow and Album art people love that dont screw it up
Make sure you stay away from upgrading to itunes 11 if you love album art and coverflow they have been removed and the new interface is really really complicated and very unappealing graphically

  • Missing album artwork in itouch

For some of the songs I have bought off of itunes the album artwork has disappeared. It shows up on itunes, but on my actual itouch theres just a blank black screen where the artwork should be. Is there anyway to fix this?

In some cases, there just isn't any artwork to be found. In that case, if it is that much of a concern (and me, I hate that little gray music note), you can manually add any .jpg or .png file as the artwork.
Quick directions: Right click song or songs > get info > info or album artwork > double click the white box (or add tab) > navigate to where you have the file on your hard drive > select it > click OK. Le voila, custom artwork. Files 250 x 250 or so pixels work the best.

  • I OS 8 deleted album artwork from I tunes, why?

I have noticed that most of my album artwork has disappeared because I've upgraded to IOS8. Why is this?

    Hi,
Try resetting your iPod:  Press/hold the home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears.
    Hope this helps!

  • Why doesn't my album artwork show?

last night i turned on my iPod, only to see that all my album artwork had disappeared! i had used my ipod earlier in the day and it had been fine, then connected it to the computer and it was all gone...i'm confused, shouldn't the computer fix the problem? please help

Is the software on the Touch up to date - 1.1.4?
If so, you likely have to restore - but don't use the backup when the process begins, use as a "new iPod"
If your software is older, try updating first.
