Album Artwork Solved! Hurray! (most common problem)

Ok so here's the problem for people having issues with album artwork showing ONLY in ITUNES and NOT in their iPod! So you've get the "Display Album Artwork on iPod" box checked and everything right? That not solving anything? Well here's the possible problem. People who DO NOT USE THEIR iTUNES LIBRARY TO SYNC SONGS TO THEIR iPOD... this is your most likely problem as to why album art is not showing on your iPod. I'm pretty sure that everything has to be tranferred through your iTunes library for this newest iTunes version. This was my problem! I always Clicked and Dragged a song directly onto my songs list in itunes. This obviously is an issue with the newest iTunes because when you go to put Album art on the songs you clicked and dragged onto your iPod, iTunes will show it but your iPod will not! So far I've restored my iPod and put everything into my Library from my songs and videos folders. Then I left the "Manually Update iPod..." box CHECKED!!!! Leave it checked and only use your library to put on songs and videos (I repeat). So far my album artwork is on all the songs i have put album art onto using my iTunes Library. I'm not so sure about the problems people are having with the album artwork mixed up with different songs, but if it happens to me then i will try to figure it out and post something. Listen to the other people who have solutions because they are the ones who helped me. If you can't find anything right now, keep searching and come back later to see newer posts. If you paste new artwork onto that artwork box at the bottom left it gets added to any existing art for each selected track, and more to the point it gets added as the last item, whereas iTunes will normally show the first.
To replace all art for selected tracks with a new image, select the tracks in question, Get Info. and then paste the image into the Artwork box on the Info tab.
As you have seen album images need to be square to show neatly. I find Paint.NET handy for cropping & resizing.

Ok i'm having trouble with my iPod and album artwork. I googled the problem and some guy was having the same thing happen to him. The idiots replying though didnt understand and started telling him how to put artwork on it. I know how to do that, its always worked fine. Except now some songs have black artwork? its got artwork on it in iTunes and iTunes works fine with it. But when I sync my iPod doesnt show it, it's just black. Not even the grayish "note" artwork.

Hello there,
Try rebuilding the iPod's artwork cache.
To do this, hook your iPod up to your computer, and when it appears in iTunes, head over to the Music tab and remove the check mark next to "display album artwork on this iPod." Then go ahead and Apply the changes to your iPod to remove any existing artwork from it.
When it has finished, go ahead check the option to display album artwork on this iPod and again Apply the changes and see if that helps.
Worth a shot.

Album artwork won't can't sync

this is a new ipod
which when i try to sync come's up with the message "cannot sync. file cannot be found."
but if i tell the ipod not to transfer album artwork it will sync no problem.
ovbviously i want the artwork though.
i've done the following;
1. restored ipod
2. re-installed itunes
3. deleted my photo cache
4. made sure there are no other usb devices plugged in
5. ran the regsvr32 file
i've also tried updating the driver but it says it can't find anything

then it comes up with all it's info
on the far right it has artwork
find the artwork on the internet then copy and paste it there
i don't know if that is helpful at all?

Album artwork not modifiable problems

I can get album art from lots of places, the problem is I tunes will not let me put in. keeps coming up with album artwork not modifiable I'm not trying to modify anything. I just want to put some album art in. Is there a way around this ?? I tunes is pretty good most of the time, but sometimes it makes a person want to just go sit in a corner and eat dirt..........

Ah, okay. Well, if you are trying to get artwork by using that handy "Get Album Artwork" feature of iTunes, it is likely that you aren't going to get some art because the iTunes database doesn't have every album under the sun.
So here is what you do: 1) Run a Google image search, or something similar, and find the artwork online. (If you own the album physically, you can always scan the artwork into your computer yourself if you have a scanner.)
2) Save the artwork to your hard drive (make sure it's a jpg or other common format).
3) Open iTunes, and select all the songs in an album that you wish to add the artwork to (should be highlighted in blue), right- or ctrl-click on the selection, and select "Get Info." You will probably get a "Do you want to do this?" window, so hit "okay."
4) You should see a section in the lower-right corner of the new window that says "Album Art" or similar. Double-click on that empty space, and navigate to the file you just saved on your hard drive.
5) Select the art, hit all of the okay buttons you need to, and let iTunes process it.
Voilà, you have album art.

Itunes album artwork problem on 11.4.0.18

Recently after the update to iTunes 11.4.0.18 I've noticed my album artwork not displaying correctly for some albums. They appear jumbled, but only the album thumbnail. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, with an AMD processor & 8GB of RAM.
If you right click on a song in an album that appears to have a jumbled thumbnail, and click on Get Info, the album artwork appears perfectly fine in the summary tab as well as the artwork tab. I've tried deleting the artwork then choosing get artwork for that particular album. In most cases this has worked, with a few giving a message that artwork could not be found. I've tried copying the artwork from the Get Info>Artwork tab, deleting it, then pasting it again and this also seems to take care of the problem when viewing the album thumbnail. It's just crazy having to do this for each and every album that is displaying a jumbled artwork thumbnail.
Anyone come across this in v11.4.0.18? Is there an easier way to fix this thumbnail problem than going through each and every album that seems messed up?

I can't see your image, but what may work is to delete the folder Album Artwork and then scroll through the entire library in Albums view.

Album artwork/screen saver problem

I having a similar problem too like most on here, but it has a slight twist to it. This is just recent happened to me and I am not sure if any other people on here has experienced it. I was adding some music and my iTunes loaded the music into my library. Then all over sudden it decided to just crash, I didn't think nothing of it. Tried to reopen it crashed, crashed, and crashed. I started panicing so i restarted the computer, but that is when i released what happened.
I didn't notice this small problem until my album artwork slide show screen saver started.Somehow or way my iTunes has lost all over its Album artwork in it's folders, BUT.... it's still there on the albums and so forth. So what is the deal? I scanned for viruses i came up with none and I verified the DISK and reparied it everything was okie. But right as I was scanning for viruses the 1st time the whole OSX crashed. Which was the reason see if the HFS Volume 1 had problems but it did not. So has anyone experienced this problem yet? Or is it telling me I should move on and get me a new Mac soon?

If you post the problem in a new discussion with a new title, someone will be able to help you out. I doubt you need a new computer, try everything and with some luck you will be OK. There are others who will be able to get you quickly fixed right, I am not the best at the problems you are having.

Album Artwork problems on iTunes

Please, I need some help here. Here's what I'm trying to to if possible.
I have many music videos that belong to a certain album (ex. Loose/Nelly Furtado - Say It Right, Promiscous, Maneater) so I would like to assign a general ALBUM ART for all the videos belonging to this album but I would also like to assign different ALBUM ART for each song. Is that possible on iTunes?
I have had problems with iTunes 7.4.2 as well. I cannot delete ARTWORK so it becomes clear. I hit "GET INFO" and under "ALBUM ARTWORK" I manually delete it then the Coverflow goes blank for a second and the same artwork is back there. I tried to delete whatever is under the iTunes folder but the same thing happens. Any ideas or just a buggy iTunes version.
Another thing... Coverflow for videos??? Mine doesn't show anything and it doesn't work horizontally.
Any ideas and comments would be greatly appreciated.

I tried the unsuncing and re-yncing trick - did not work for me either.   The album artwork would change, but most of the titles were still wrong.     What I finally had to do was unsync artwork, overwrite old backup with a new one (with app organization, contacts etc, saved, but nothing else)
Then restore to the factory settings by clicking restore in itunes -
After iOS reinstalls from scratch, restore to the backup of your apps and contacts you did before the OS restore.
Then try syncing just your playlists to validate, this worked for me.   After that I uploaded the rest of my albums and everything is cool now.
As for why this happens in the first place, it's likely a corrupting of the music or artwork database of sorts.   Before doing any of the restoration, look in your music directory and clean up any titles of artists with unicode characters, or underscores before the names.
I had one album with Japanese characters, and a few others that Itunes prefaces with underscores to avoid duplicate album or artist names.    I suspect somethign like that may play a role in the problem.

Album artwork problem--can anyone help?

I have a wierd thing happening with my album artwork. All of the artwork is correct in ITunes, and the artwork appears correct when I hold my Itouch lengthwise. However, when I hold my Itouch vertically (i.e. with the button at the bottom) the album art is messed up. For example, I have an U2 album that only displays the art correctly when I hold it side-to-side. Vertically, the album art is blank when I display the album, and when I play the songs I get a cut screen, top half of which is an old Christmas album I've deleted and the bottom of which is art for a television series that I purchased. What's the deal? Is there any way for me to get my album art displaying correctly?

I think I have found a solution. Although it is not 100% guarantee it will work, at least it helps keep my artwork stable.
For PC (I don't have a Mac), right click on the song(s) that causes you problem, convert ID3 tag to version 1.0 (back to basic, eh).
Then edit the tag (if necessary, and add artwork. If it is not fixed, repeat the process one more time.
The key is converting the ID3 tag to the most basic version.

Album artwork problems (-609)

Hey, when I try and 'Get Album Artwork', I get the error (-609). I'm trying to get artwork on Calvin Harris, RFTW album. Most other albums work, any suggestions?

Bump-I also have this problem. I have album artwork on almost all in Itunes on my PC, but most of my music in my MP3 player (Blackberry Curve) doesn't have art. I know in my case, i'm using the software installed on the Blackberry. If there is something better, please let me know. Thx

Problems with adding album artwork

Yesterday I started having problems adding album artwork. My Get Album Artwork button does not work when I try to use it and when I manually try to add album artwork it adds it but it comes up black. I'd really like to get this problem solved so if you could help me that'd be great. Thanks!

Multiple problems with itouch (including apps, album artwork and play count

ok I just got a 32 gb itouch...
And so far it's been nice. But recently three problems are occuring:
1 normally, when you're in music and you put the iPod horizontally, you should see the album artwork. However, for me, most of the album artwork is simply black. Also, sometimes, when the album is selected during this process it is black while when it is in the list in the backround, you can see it. So there are general problems with that.
2 sometimes my apps don't work, while sometimes they do. It's not just one app, it happens to all my bought apps (not to the ones that were there when I goi the iPod, however)
3 everytime I connect to my computer, I loose all my play count. I have this situation so far: I played about 8 song from my iPod while it was connected to my pc. After that I put a top 25 smartlist. Later that day I listened to a nother album. In the evening I checked the smartlist, and on it were songs that I never played. Also I looked at my music under devices, and I put in order from most played to least, and on top were the song that I listened to while I had my iPod connect to the computer, and no the album I listened to later.
Please help me. I love listening to my iPods, and I just got this cool iPod, so please help me before I get a negative attitude towards the itouch.

Well what your describing is a reboot of the iPod, not a real restore.
Here's the break down, just so you know.
1. Reboot, Hold down the power button and Home button, till the white apple appears, no data loss, just reboots the IPT.
2. In the IPTs general settings, at the bottom is a reset button, which allows you to reset some or all of the settings on the IPT.
3. A restore is done in iTunes and wipes the entire IPT of contents and restores the IPT to factory settings.

Most of my album artwork is missing after updating to iOS 5

I just updated my iPod Touch 4G to iOS 5 and now all my album artwork is missing. What should I do?
Is there a way to get back the album art in my iPod?

Have a similar situation; album art was all there (added the correct way in iTunes) and I Manually Sync my 4G Touch. After the iOS5 update, I ‘Dragged & Dropped’ one Smart-Playlist to the Touch and then lost 80% of the Album Art on the Touch. What really is upsetting, the Art is there. Dock the iPod and iTunes show’s the Art listed and within ‘Get Info’ for the iPod.
This need to STOP, more then 10 years of using iPod without this problem and in the last two months had to reload 3-times already since getting the 4G Touch; great loss of time with a 64G. Add a Warning! or something. Maybe it’s an issue with iTunes 10.5.0.142, OS-Win-7?
UPDATE: for this scenario, I think the Art got corrupted by older Art listed in iTunes. When I fixed the 1st occurrence of missing Art, I only fixed what was on the iPod to save time (only 30% bad) and then when I ‘Sync’ed’ a Playlist from iTunes, 80% of Art then got corrupted. There are trade-off’s to both Auto and Manual Syncing. Like I said; “a Warning! would be nice” OR how about “Asking”; “Do You Wish To Overwrite The Existing Art?”

My ipod warranty ran out a few months ago I have a nano 5th gen. The problem is that if I want to play a song it would show the album artwork for about 3 seconds and go back to the main menu with no music playing. It'snot the head phones or ear jack. help

Album artwork incorrect on ipod problem

Hello
I've got a 60GB iPod video and have never had a problem with it until recently which may or may not coincide with the upgrade to iTunes 7....
For some reason now on the iPod some album artwork is showing up incorrectly, for instance purchased music is showing album artwork for subscribed podcasts. However it's not just purchased music it's affecting all my music and it's driving me mad!
Can anyone assist? I've already had a search of the forums and am not overly keen on rolling back to a previous version of iTunes.

I've got the 30 gb video and i'm having the same problem...the album artwork is correct on iTunes, but it's showing a totally different album than the one playing on my iPod...it's driving me crazy as well.
Does anyone know what to do about this?
