Album Artwork transfer error

Hi- I don't know if this question has already been answered but I'm very frustrated...
I spent over two hours downloading album artwork from various websites (I know, I'm Obsessive-Compulsive) and consequently attached it to my music in iTunes. Although I come to realize, I was putting it on the files DIRECTLY on the iPod, not in my iTunes library. This artwork is not showing up on my iPod now, although stuff I've bought from Apple's Music Store that has artwork attached DOES show up.
Could someone please advise, as to how I can get all of this downloaded artwork to show up? Or do I have to go back and do it all again within the iTunes library?
Help!

i had same problem but found if i put the artwok onto my songs whilst they where in the itunes library then transfered them . the artwork should then be visible

  • Error (-609) what is it? I cant get album artwork for half my library

i am trying to get album artwork but error (-609) keeps coming up and not allowing me to do so... Any answers??

    - Try contacting iTunes for the password problem:
Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us
    - For the other problem you can try a reset. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - The next standard thing to do is to download/install a new app but you cant 'do that.
    - Instead, try restoring from backup.

  • Album artwork disappeared after an iTunes error... how can I get I back?

I've been using iTunes for years and out of a clear blue sky I get this error message, "iPhone cannot be synced because the sync session failed to start." After trying a few different things I find a fix that works- turn my iPhone all the way off and then turn it back on. Then when I added a new mp3 song to my iTunes Library and tried to sync it to my phone, the album artwork refused to show up on my phone even though it shows in iTunes. Nothing I did to fix it worked. I tried to add another mp3 song. Same problem. Then as I tried the various 'fixes' I read about here in Apple Support Communities, it made my problem worse! At first only the two new mp3 songs I added were missing album artwork. Now half of the songs I purchased from iTunes are missing album artwork! To add to that, many of the songs that have album artwork at all have the wrong artwork.
    Stuff that didn't work:
Erasing all the music on my phone and resyncing made it worse
My manually added album artwork is already ID3 tagged v2.4
I have never checked the box that converts higher bitrate songs
Manually adding artwork and using iTunes' "get album artwork" feature
    Restoring iPhone from a backup
I am using a MacBook Pro with OS X Snow Leopard version 10.6.8.
I have iOS 6.1.4 on my iPhone 5 and I have not updated anything for the past two months.
    PLEASE HELP.

    You dont have this:
Check your iTunes > Preferences... (or in Windows iTunes: Edit > Preferences...) > General tab > is Books checked?

  • Nano3rd: album artwork does not transfer

my album artwork is not transferring...when i click on "display album artwork" and click "apply", it optomizies halfway through and then i receive an error message. it reads "ipod cannot be synchronized"...some of the artwork is from songs i have purchased from itunes. whats up? is it a computer error with nothing to do with itunes or nano?

I've read posts where you need to
    1) untick the option to send artwork to the ipod
    2) sync the ipod
    3) eject the ipod
    4) reconnect the ipod and tick the option to sync artwork
    5) sync the ipod again.

  • Can't get album artwork - error 609

I'm using MBP and iTunes 10.3.1.
When importing from a CD, I got the track details but not the album artwork. On requesting through menu Advanced I get "Unknown error -609".
However,  the same CD on Windows+RealPlayer can get all album and track info.
Any ideas to get the album artwork on MBP+iTunes?
    Thanks

Btw, I desabled the firewall and it still can't get the artwork.
The CD is "Queen - A Night At The Opera".

  • Is there an easier way to transfer album artwork to all songs on album?

ok. i found the album artwork, now how do i transfer it other than one song at a time?? this is really frustrating. someone please help me!
    iPod video Windows XP

Here is your saviour... it's called iTunes Art Importer.
What this program does is uses the information provided by iTunes and searches Amazon's vast database of music, and finds the appropriate album art.

  • HT1386 Album artwork doesn't transfer since upgrade iOS?

Anyone can you help? I "upgraded" to iOS 6.01, now my album artwork will not transfer with my music to my iPod touch.

When you download artwork from the iTunes store, it is stored in the iTunes folder in the Album Artwork folder, not in the song file.
If you paste in artwork from another source, it is stored in the song file. So there are two systems which can be confusing
So if you are transfering your iTunes library to another computer, you need to take the whole iTunes folder as well as the iTunes Music folder. This ensures you have the library databses and artwork folder.

  • Error with getting album artwork, will i lose all library if i unistall?

I appear to have an error (-609) when i try to get album artwork in i tunes. I was thinking about unistalling i tunes and then re installing it. Will this help resolve the error and will it mean i will lose all the albums i have stored in my library. Will i have to reload them all back on again? or can i save them on my pc somewhere before i unistall itunes and then move them back into itunes when i reinstall it?

Hi Sarah, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Try logging out of the iTunes Store, Quit iTunes...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
Open Itunes, log into the Store, try again.

  • TRANSFER ALBUM ARTWORK

is there anyway can transfer just album artwork if i have it set to manual in my itunes?
on my pod some artwork isnt there but shows up on my itunes

I have to disagree. If the iPod is set to manual, you can add artwork to the songs already on the iPod without the need to delete anything and then transfer it back again.
You just need to highlight the songs on your iPod and use the copy/paste method to add artwork to the box. I have done this many times.
What you cannot do however is to add artwork directly to the songs on the iPod using the "get artwork" option from iTunes.

  • Transfer Album Artwork to another computer?

Most of my album artwork has been retrieved automatically using the "Get Album Artwork" command in iTunes. Other album artwork has been copied from amazon.com or other sites. Where exactly does all this artwork get stored? How can I transfer album artwork to another computer? I see album artwork docs stored in 4 folders:
    1) C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Album Artwork\Download
    2) C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Album Artwork\Local
    and ALSO in:
    3) C:\Documents and Settings\MYUSERNAME\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Album Artwork\Download
    4) C:\Documents and Settings\MYUSERNAME\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Album Artwork\Local
To backup/transfer to another computer, which of these 4 folders do I need? Why are there 4? How can I combine to 1 or 2? Do I simply copy folders from one computer to another? Which folder(s)? My iTunes library is on an ext hard drive, but the album artwork is on the C drive. I backup/transfer the itunes library by connecting my ext hard drive to the 2nd computer, and hit "Add Folder to Library", but don't know how to properly transfer the artwork folder(s). Thanks for the help!

    Hi Pete,
You would copy the entire iPhoto Library folder to the other computer. Put the iPhoto Library folder in the Pictures folder of the other computer (make sure there is no library with the same name in the Pictures folder. If there is rename it.
Does the other computer have the same version of iPhoto? does the other computer already have photos in the library.
What do you want to do if there is another library on the other computer?
Copy iPhoto Library folder from one Mac to another
-If the library is small enough, burn the ENTIRE iPhoto Library folder to CD/DVD.
Drag the iPhoto Library folder from the CD/DVD to your Pictures folder of the iMac.
-If the computers are networked, copy the ENTIRE iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder of the other Mac.
-If you have an iPod, copy the ENTIRE iPhoto Library folder to the iPod. Connect the iPod to the other computer and copy the iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder of the other Mac.
-If you have a firewire cable, copy the ENTIRE iPhoto LIbrary folder to the Pictures folder of the other Mac
    Things to keep in mind:
-If the usersnames are different you might have to set the permissions on the iPhoto Library folder to Read/Write for the new user. Check the "apply to enclosed items" at the bottom of the "get info" window.
-If there is another iPhoto Library folder on the other Mac, change it's name so it doesn't get replaced by the iPhoto Library folder you are copying into the Pictures folder...or....drag it to another place on your hard drive.

  • Error When Trying to Re-check "Display Album Artwork"

Here's my issue, I have a 30 gb photo ipod and I added album artwork in iTunes to all of my music on my ipod. The artwork displays in iTunes, but does not show up on the iPod. When I go to iPod options in iTunes and uncheck, then recheck "Display album artwork on your iPod", I get "The iPod "(myname)" cannot be updated. An unknown error occurred (-50)." I updated to the latest iPod software, using iPod Updater 2005-06-26 and I also have the latest iTunes software (4.9). I see other people with the same type of error, but nobody getting the same error number as me.

Wow. I sure am impressed with the amount of help available to the average new iPod user! I started using the iPod (60gb/using newest iTunes on XP) about one week ago, and have had about three problems - all of which were resolved without panic or hassle by simply browsing forums or checking the manual.
I thought it was pretty cool to be able to place the artwork on the 'Pod while the song is playing, so I started throwing the art from amazon.com (an invaluable resource for album art!) to the 'Pod. Wouldn't you believe it - nothing showed up! iTunes showed it - I could see it - but nothing on the 'Pod! I tried the "check and uncheck show album art icon," at which time I started getting the "Cannot update [my iPod] - Unknown error -50" error. A bit of searching and WHAMMO! The answer is upon me! Unload all the music, add the art to the songs in iTunes, and reload the songs! I'm sure it'll work like a charm (without a doubt!).
I usually have limited amounts of time to tinker with the 'Pod, so I'm glad things can be solved so quickly! I'm also glad I've only got 5.6gb of tunes on the 'Pod that I have to re-load! My heart goes out to those who have customized artist info/track listings, however... As well as those who have the full 60 filled... It's got to be terrible to get news that you've got to unload that fine piece of machinery (apparently you can't say "s*cker" or "su*ka"). I'll definitely be sure to make any modifications (aside from volume controls from song to song) in iTunes before loading the songs to the 'Pod!
    Hurray!

  • -50 error when trying to get Album Artwork onto iPod

Has anyone had the issue of getting an "unknown error" -50 when trying to sync Album Artwork? I have searched for a similar problem and have found nothing. The art work used to work on my old machine. I have recent change computers, but I moved all my music over to the new machine without any issues. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.
