Album Has Stopped!

Xperia Z Tablet, Jelly Bean 4.3
I have an issue with Thumbnails viewed via Maps or Globe in the Album App. You can scroll though 15 to 20 thumbnails at one location then the Message 'Unfortunately, Album has stopped' appears, the program stops and you have to return to the Album App.
I have cleared data and cache in settings but this is of no help. Before I do a system repair I wondered if anyone else had encountered this issue and come across a simple solution?

Have you tired the software repair as outlined above irman7977?

• "itunes has stopped working" after downloading album artwork??

For years I've avoided ipod and itunes like the plague...but about 2 weeks ago I gave in. I got an ipod touch and installed itunes. Everything was fine - until this afternoon when I clicked on find album artwork in itunes. After itunes finished going through the process of finding the artwork ( 1400 of 1600 files found, 1450 of 1600 found, etc...or something like that ), i got the error message that *itunes has stopped working*. I've been searching forums all night and tried uninstalling eveything "apple" and reinstalling. Apparently this error comes up for A LOT of people ( problems like this are why I never wanted an ipod... ). None of the recommended fixes are working. I'm assuming something went wrong during artwork downloading????? Or not? I don't really care why actually, but, if itunes crashes every time i hook up my ipod, what good is it ( or the ipod )...and i don't know what to do with the ipod ( how to download apps, or add music, photos and videos ) w/o the itunes. My previous media players were all drag and drop ease.
I'm a newbie - and i'm rally frustrated - so please be kind. Can anyone tell me - in plain terms - how to get my itunes to not "stop working" every time i hook up my ipod?? Please?
THANKS.

OK, so after looking everywhere for an answer - with no luck - I figured it out on my own ( don't ask me how... ). I'll tell you what I did. I bet you have the same problem. Honestly, I thought I'd be returning the **** thing, but it's fine now.
I'd plug in my ipod ( 32gtouch, like yours ), and itunes would open. Everything was fine until it started to sync my music. Then it would freeze, give me the error message, and then shut down. I did this probably 10 times throughout the day, and always the same. Then I noticed it always froze at the same place during the sync. Soooo, I finally realized I must have a corrupt file.
Step 1: Do as I did, but when it starts to freeze, take note of the name of the song it freezes on. That's probably the culprit .Remember it. Let the error message come up and close as always...
Step 2: Open itunes again! Click on your ipod, and then on the music tab. Immediately un-check "Sync music" ( top of the page ) and then click "apply" ( bottom right ). DO THAT FAST...before it has a chance to sync, or it will just freeze again!
Step 3: Go into your music library on itunes, and DLETE/REMOVE that song.
Step 4: Close itunes.
Step 5: Open itunes, and go again to your ipod, and click on music tab. This time, check the "sync music" box ( and apply ).
That should fix it. If it doesn't you have more than one corrupt file. In that case, close itunes and then open it again. Follow step 1 and 2 again. Remove any songs from your library that aren't that important to you ( especially those that were from questionable sources... ). Basically, you need to figure out which song ( or songs ) are causing the problem. If you just delete them all, you'd have to add them again one at a time to avoid the problem again, and that would be a pain. So, just remove as many as you feel like ( out of 1500 songs or so, I removed a couple hundred ). I left mainly the ones that were from my actual CDs or that I had bought through Amazon ( or other legit source ). I removed most of my Limewire downloads. Most of them are probably fine, but I'll add them later one at a time to be sure...
I still have plenty of Limewire songs on there, and they are fine, but, as you know, you do get bad files sometimes.
Anyways, once I did this, everything is fine and works great. I even started adding album art manually, and at one point it froze again. So, I did steps 1 and 2 again, and removed the album art I last added, and then synced again, and it was fine. Usually, the album art I add is OK, but I had that one pesky photo I guess ). So, I guess the thing is after you get the majority of your music on, just add and adjust things a little at a time, and you'll always know which file is causing you problems ( hopefully no files will!! ).
I hope this works for you. Let me know if you have any questions, and let me know if it solves your issue too!
Peace.

• Album shuffle has stopped working

My 2nd gen nano has stopped shuffling albums. It used to do that just fine but then stopped for no apparent reason. I have reset the iPod, cleared and restored it all to no avail. Repeat is not on. It won't shuffle songs either.
It is otherwise completely fine. Advice please.

I have an aluminum shuffle that I've had for a few
months. It worked perfectly up to about a week ago.
I turned it on and pushed play and it blinked green
to orange about 3 or 4 times with no audio. Looking
at the card, I think that means there is no
content.
So I plug it into my mac pro and it comes up as
normal in iTunes with content. I take it out and try
to play, but same thing, blinking errors. iTunes
seems to let me put stuff on it and remove stuff, but
whenever I eject it and try to play, same blinking
errors.
So I try to restore it and it goes fine until it asks
me to name it, and I do and click 'Done', then it
gives me this error:
"The iPod 'shuffle' cannot be synced. The disk could
not be read from or written to."
So I think there is something wrong with the memory
(or accessing the memory) so I bring it into apple.
Here's where it gets interesting. I talk with a
genius and he connects it to his mac book pro and it
works perfectly. He restores it, puts music on it,
ejects it, and no problems at all. He even uses my
dock thinking it could be a dock issue, and it also
works fine. Last thing he did was restore it and
give it back to me.
So I plug it back into my mac pro, put some content
on it, eject it, and the blinking returns!!! Tried
to restore it and same problem. I tried a different
USB port and same problem. Tried getting the new
iTunes (7.1) and same problem.
I know this is a crazy long explanation, but does
anyone have any idea what could be going on? I can
try it on a different machine, but assuming it works,
what does that then mean about my mac pro?
Interesting... have you tried grounding yourself before touching it? What did you do with the Shuffle and iTunes just prior to this problem?

Taken at face value, that's an exceptionally old version number for that QuickTime component.
Do you have the QuickTime Player installed on your system at the moment? If so, is that also currently failing to launch (with or without an error message)?

• Iphoto on my macbook pro has stopped working. It comes up with a message saying that the library is either being used by another user or it is unreadable. Any ideas why I should be receiving this message?

Iphoto on my macbook pro has stopped working. It comes up with a message saying that the library is either being used by another user or it is unreadable. Any ideas why I should be receiving this message?
"Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable"
Offered solution doesn't work:
Shut down and restart your computer, and then open iPhoto again. If the problem persists, try rebuilding your photo library. To do this, quit iPhoto, and then reopen it while keeping the Option and Command keys pressed. You can also try restoring your photo library from a backup.
I have already copied my photographs to the a library manager but when I tried to reuse iphoto and import the photos back into iphoto, it would not let me.
I can't download photographs from my iphone or my digital camera.
Any ideas on how I can solve this problem?
There is a possibility that when I went to update applications that I started to install Mavericks which I then interrupted and cancelled. I am not definite that this caused this problem but it was at about the same time as when this problem started.
Many thanks,
Ed

I have already copied my photographs to the a library manager but when I tried to reuse iphoto and import the photos back into iphoto, it would not let me.
You can't "copy" your photos to the "library manager", there is just no way to any such thing.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

• "iTunes has stopped working" during every startup

Every time I try to open iTunes, it says iTunes has stopped working. When I open it, it actually works for a good two seconds before it crashes. I've tried to play one of the songs by double-clicking one of the albums and it starts to play until it crashes one second later. I've even tried to open iTunes while my iPod 4G is plugged, and it's actually showing that it's starting to sync every single time. But of course, it's going to crash within a second. This has never happened until today. I've even tried reinstalling it with the latest version. What's up with that? How do I fix iTunes?
I'm using Windows 8.1.

Try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.
If not try working through TS1717: iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues.
Otherwise for general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

• ITunes 12.1.0.71 has stopped working on windows 7

I updated my itunes with the new 12.0.1 update. When the update finished, i restart my pc and then i can't open the itunes. "iTunes has stopped working". What should i do?
iTunes, Windows 7

Good Afternoon aperaf,
If iTunes for Windows won't launch after the recent update, try these troubleshooting steps:
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues - Apple Support
http://support.apple.com/en-is/HT203206
iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8: Fix unexpected quits or launch issues
If iTunes for Windows Vista or Windows 7 won't open, stops responding, or unexpectedly quits, try using the steps below. You may want to print this document before following these steps.
Follow these steps if you're having issues installing iTunes.Start iTunes in Safe Mode
Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any interference from plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
Hold down Shift–Control while opening iTunes. You should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
Click Continue.
See if the issue you're experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
If you have the same issue while iTunes is in Safe Mode, proceed to the "Create a new user account" section. If you don't experience the same issue, follow these steps to remove third-party plug-ins.Create a new user account
By creating a new user account, you can determine if the issue affects a specific Windows user account or all accounts. Follow the steps below to create a new user account in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
Choose Start > Control Panel.
Open "Add or remove user accounts." (If you're using the Classic view in Windows Vista, open "User Accounts," and then open "Manage another account.")
Select "Create a new account" and follow the instructions to set up the account.
Once you create the new account, choose Start > Log Off.
Log in to the new user account.
Open iTunes and see if the issue you're experiencing persists in this new user account.
If you have the same issue in the new user account, proceed to the "System-wide troubleshooting" section. If you don't experience the same issue, proceed to the "User-specific troubleshooting" section.User-specific troubleshooting
If you experience the issue in one particular user account, the suggestions below may resolve the issue. Before proceeding, you'll need to make hidden files and folder visible in Windows using steps 1-5.
Remove iTunes Preference files. Some of the files that iTunes stores settings and preferences in may be unusable. iTunes saves its preferences in two folders. Move one of them to the desktop and test to see if the issue persists. If it does, move it back and remove the second folder. The locations for the preference folders are:
c:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
c:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes
Create a new iTunes Library.
Hold the Shift key while opening iTunes. You'll be asked to choose an iTunes library.
Choose Create Library.
In the following window, select a location to save the new iTunes Library.
Click Save. iTunes will open the new library. After you close iTunes, you can always select the original library by holding the Shift key while opening iTunes.
Recreate your iTunes Library. If your iTunes library has become unusable, rebuilding it may resolve the issue.
Check for issues with content files. Sometimes an audio file can cause iTunes to quit unexpectedly or stop responding when it's analyzing gapless playback information. To determine which file may be causing the issue, follow the steps below:
Quit iTunes.
Navigate to the iTunes folder:
Windows 7 and Windows 8:c:\users\username\My Music\iTunes
Move the iTunes Library.itl file to your desktop.
Open iTunes. You shouldn't see any content in iTunes.
Choose File > Add Folder to Library.
Navigate to the folder where your music is located:
Windows 7 and Windows 8:c:\users\username\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media
Choose an artist, album, or song to add to the library.
Wait for iTunes to successfully add the item to your library and perform the gapless playback scan.
If successful, continue adding songs to your library.
If there is an issue with one of your files, you'll notice your issue reappear after you add it to the library. You should repeat these steps, being careful not to add the files that caused the issue.
System-wide troubleshooting
When troubleshooting system-wide issues with iTunes, try these steps:
Check for viruses. Windows viruses can interfere with a variety of computer functions, including iTunes.
Make sure that you have current anti-virus software installed with up-to-date virus definitions.
Scan your system.
Check for anti-virus and Internet security software. Internet security software may cause iTunes to quit unexpectedly. Try disabling the Internet security software temporarily or exempting iTunes from any active scanning done by the software. If this resolves the issue, check with the maker of the software for an update to the software or its virus definitions. Learn more about fixing security software issues.
Check for conflicting processes. Sometimes other programs and startup items can conflict with iTunes. Learn how to troubleshoot conflicts using Msconfig in Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.
Remove iTunes configuration files. Removing unusable configuration files from iTunes can resolve launch issues.
Check the iTunes installations. An improper installation of iTunes can contribute to a variety of issues. Follow these steps to completely reinstall iTunes.
Update the drivers on your PC. Outdated drivers on your computer can cause strange behavior with iTunes, iPod devices, and other apps. Learn how to update the drivers on your computer.

now i am really annoyed and i just want to get my itunes working, without loosing all my music. any help? thank you

i always need to create an ACC version of everything as my music is saved on to an external hard drive (if thats not plugged in iTunes cant find the music, therefor cant play my music.) and then a pop up messege from windows said "iTunes has stopped working" and it didnt give me any other choice but to close the program.
First we need to check your precise version number, Katy. In iTunes, go "Help > About iTunes", and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom of the screen.
If it says *iTunes 10.1.0.54,* we need to update you to iTunes 10.1.0.56. The 10.1.0.56 version may not show up for you in Apple Software update, so you'll probably need to get the 10.1.0.56 installer from the Apple Website, as per the following document:
[iTunes 10.1 for Windows: iTunes may stop working and need to quit while importing or syncing audio|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3591]

• ITunes has stopped working on Vista, help!!

Earlier today, my iTunes was working fine. But then a friend of mine wanted me to download software that included a program called "Quicktime Alternative." I was skeptical but decided to try it our anyways. After the installation of a few things, my iTunes, along with my Quicktime, has stopped working. These are the errors I get when I try to open iTunes (Quicktime has the same error except anywhere it says iTunes, it says Quicktime)

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling a few times, with no luck. I uninstalled all the files that I had previously installed at the recommendation of my friend. Still nothing. Any ideas?
Can anyone help? All help is greatly appreciated!

Those QuickTime alternatives will frequently break itunes, because iTunes depends on a good QuickTime installation. itunes uses hte Qt audio & video codecs.
See if you can download and install this QuickTime standalone. That should get iTunes working again. Make sure to get the version withOUT itunes.

• Anyone having problems with Photoshop Express on iPad 2 running iOS 8.1.2? I just updated to iOS a 8.1.2 and it has stopped reading my pics

Hi all. @I'm new here , just updated my iPad 2 to iOS 8.1.2 and PE app has stopped reading my streamed photos. Anyone has the same problem? thanks.

I don't have an iPad 2, but I just tried on iPhone 6 running 8.1.2, and I can access images in my Camera Roll, and also images in iOS Albums.
Are you running PS Express version 3.4?  Does uninstalling/re-installing help?
Does PS Express have permission to access the images, under iOS Settings > Privacy > Photos > PS Express?
If these suggestions don't help, please reply back.

• IPhoto 11 has stopped responding. I was making a slideshow when it froze, I had to force quit to close it down but now when I try to open it starts to try to open but cannot and I can only close it down through force quit.

IPhoto 11 has stopped responding. I had been working on a large slideshow for a week now and all was great when the slideshow froze when I tried to add another image. To shut it down I had to force quit.  When I have tried to re-open IPhoto starts to launch  but the rainbow icon just keeps going round and I have to force quit to get out of the programm. I cannot access any of the files in IPhoto and it wil not open. Any suggestions??? I would really want to save my images in IPhoto if at all possible as I do not have them stored anywher elese. Any help would be very apprreciated.

Remember: you always need a back up for any important data on your computer. Always.
Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.
If that fails
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

• ITunes Match:  iTunes has stopped working

I don’t see any other reports of this problem on the Apple Support Communities forum.  Am I the only person having this problem?
I subscribed to iTunes Match last weekend.  I have not been able to upload/match all of my songs.  Most of the songs that are ineligible are songs that I recorded myself.  But there are many other songs that I recorded myself that did upload.  When I try to match, I get the ITunes has Stopped Working message.
When I go to update iTunes Match, I get the following sequence:
Gathering information about your iTunes Library…  45 seconds
Waiting for Apple to deliver your iTunes Match Results… 120 seconds
Delivering your iTunes Match results…  20 seconds
Matching your music with songs in the iTunes Store…
Status bar gets about 95% through then sits for about 90 seconds.
Uploading remaining songs and artwork…
After just a few seconds, I get the following error:
iTunes has stopped working
Windows is checking for a solution to the problem…
After about 60 seconds, I get the following dialogue box:
iTunes has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is
      Available.
I have 11139 items.
Of those, 469 are ineligible, and 441 are Waiting.

Hello Jimzgoldfinch,
Thanks for your reply.  It took me a couple of days to get to your suggestion.  I removed ALL ineligible tunes.  I did not remove the 1,000 or so songs that are waiting.  I signed out & back in, which I've probably done 30 times in the last few days.  iTunes pretty much requires that I do that each time I open iTunes.
I then interrupted the 3-step match process by clicking on the X in the progress window up top.  I then highlighted one song that showed the "waiting" cloud.  I right-clicked & chose "Add to iCloud".  It worked.  Then my iTunes screen kind of froze for about 10 seconds.  After it unfroze, I tried the same thing with another song.  This time, iTunes came back with a message about not being able to establish a network connection.  I closed iTunes, launched it again, and signed out & back in; tried another song; it worked; then tried 2nd song and got the same message.  I logged out & back in a 3rd time (or 35th time); tried an album; it worked.  iTunes froze again.  I right-clicked another tune, but the "Add to iCloud" option is missing.
This is incredibly frustrating and seems like a total waste of my time.  Would have been better to just buy an iPod to replace my 6-year old one that died.  I can't believe Apple has put out such a bug-ridden product.
Now I'm stuck because many songs won't sync to my iPhone because with iTunes Match (even if it's turned off), I can no longer control what gets synced.  And they're not in iCloud; so I can't download them.  I used to be able to choose songs, albums, genres & playlists to sync to my iPhone once I plugged it into my computer.  Now, when I click on the iPhone icon on the sidebar, those options are gone.
I guess I need to try to get in touch with Apple.

• Iphoto has stopped sharing my photos to facebook

My iphoto 09 has stopped exporting/sharing my photos to facebook.
I always uploaded in this manner earlier, but for some strange reason, it doesnt work with a click of a button anymore.
If I click on the FB icon, after selecting the respective album, it comes up with this massage, ' Do you want to set up iphoto to publish to FB? Though it already was set up...
Neverthless, I do that, I select - Set up- after which, it takes me to my preexisting FB page, in a little window...where I can navigate withen it...but then there is no other option...except, 'cancel'. So I end up clicking/selecting,  'cancel'.
My mac book OS is 10.7.5.
Please advice.
Am I doing something wrong...?

Appearently there is an issure between iPhoto and FB - there are many reoports of this - one work around is to export photos to a desktop folder un use a browser to upload from there
And someone posted a suggested solution a week or so ago - I have no idea as to the validity of the solution but some people seemd to find it helpful - you can find it by searching the forums (maybe even in the more like this list) and see what you think about it

Okay, this works for me, not sure if it will work for everybody. Recently, after KDE 4.4.0 upgrade I think, I noticed kmail taking up like 500mb of residential memory, sometimes even 1g of it. This is insane, I thought. After a short research I found
