Album suggestions for the music store

Has anyone suggested albums for the music store and actually gotten it listed for sale? I've suggested a few and just wondering if this is a waste of time

I will keep suggesting, I no longer like ordering cds. But if the music store does nothing with the suggestions then I'll have to do that.
It would be nice if they could post whether or not they could get the album but I doubt if they will ever have the manpower to do that

  • I have a suggestion to the music store staff

i thought this was the closest way to asking you, the staff, a question/suggestion. I would like to suggest that you guys get the tv show HOUSE availiable for purchase in the iTunes store. many, like me, love the show and i would like to get it through iTunes. Please tell me what you think. Thank you.

  • Paying at the Music Store

How are we billed for the music store? is there a sign up fee, or a monthly fee even if we don't buy anything for 6 months to a year? or are we only billed for the songs/albums we buy? Thanks

Roberto, welcome to discussions! There is no sign up fee to use the store or no monthly fee, you only pay for what your purchase.

  • Importing a CD, however the information for the music isn't online, yet the album is in the iTunes store.

Hey guys. Bought the new Ministry Of Sound album, The Annual 2014 and went to import the music onto iTunes.
The album is on the online store as I was tempted to purchase it there, in hindsight I wish I had, however I didn't and now the information for the CD cannot be found online and insists I could put all 40 odd songs and all it's data into iTunes myself.
I am happy to do that if I must, but surely if the iTunes store has all the information for the album I can transfer all of it to the CD.
If not what else could I do?
    Thanks

The CD track identification in iTunes queries information from the Sony/Gracenote database, and interestingly, has nothing to do with the iTunes Store.
You might as well go ahead and type it in.  If you wish to be a good citizen, you can then use the iTunes "Submit Track Names" feature to submit to Gracenote, so that your fellow MoS fans will save typing.

I can not store all my Music on my internal Macbook pro hard drive so I am storing it on a large external drive connected to my airport extreme (2 TB drive plugged into the USB port).  I see the drive on my laptop and I can add and delete files no problem.  How do I get Itunes to search for the music here with out trying to copy it to my laptop's hard drive?  I don't have enough space to do that.

How did you move the music to the external drive?  What exactly is on the drive?  The entire iTunes folder or only music?  If it is the entire iTunes folder you can do the option+start suggestion earlier.  If you copied only music and did so by dragging it there then you need to delete it again and consolidate/organize it there instead so iTunes tracks the move.  iTunes 12 for Mac: Change where your iTunes files are stored - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH19507

  • For those experiencing problems connecting to the Music Stor

I sent the following comments through feedback to Apple:
Since upgrading to iTunes 6 I've lost the ability to connect to the Music Store. I can browse, but I can't buy anything. I get an error message (-9813). I went to discussions to see if I was the only one having this problem, but I see that many people are experienging it.
I went to iTunes support, and followed the troubleshooting steps stated there:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/connect/
    but it didn't work.
I then noticed that not only I wasn't able to connect to ITMS, but the same problem occurred when I tried syncing my computer with my iDisk (Through system preferences), and also when I tried to connect to home page through iPhoto, or when I try to backup to my iDisk (using Backup 3).
I first thought, as many in these discussions, that there is a problem with the Music Store, but I think the problem seems to be .mac related. And more precisely, with port 443, which is the port used for SSL and HTTPS connections.
Speaking of HTTPS, let me tell you that when I try to connect to a HTTPS site, like the Apple store, for example, I get a message stating that Safari doesn't recognize Apple's own certificate to grant access to that page.
I also thought the problem could be with my ISP, but I've been working with it for a long time now and never experienced a problem with it. Everything started happening after upgrading to iTunes 6.
I have no idea how to correct this problem, I believe I'm not the only one.

Is it possible for the next IOS 6 update for the music album art to display on the homescreen as a backround image when music is playing?

It does, under certain circumstances. If you are playing music and lock the phone or it locks on its own, when you wake it up, the album art will show. It also shows as the background if you are in the music app. If this is not exactly what you are looking for, you can submit feedback to Apple about this feature at www.apple.com/feedback.

  • TS3297 What do I do if music files purchased/downloaded for the iTunes store don't work properly?

What do I do if music files purchased/downloaded for the iTunes store don't work properly?

Buddhabeat...clicking on the "Report a Problem" button next to the song(s) in question, should open a drop-down list menu, that allows you to select the specific issue/area of concern that you are experiecing (or you can select a generic "My problem is not on the list" (or something to that effect). Underneath this drop-down menu box, there should be another message box where you can describe  the issue/problem your having. Below this message box will be a "Submit" button...clicking on that will send your message to the Apple iTunes Store Customer Support Centre (you will see a confirmation message that your message has been sent), as well as receive an email notification from the Support Centre confirming your message has been received, a case number, and that you will receive an email response pertaining to the issue/problem you're having, from the Support Centre asap (usually within 24 hours). That's how it worked for me, anyhow.

  • As of today, neither sample songs on the music store nor songs already downloaded will play correctly.  They are stuttery and slow.  I have iTunes 10.5 and have not downloaded any upgrades for anything recently.  They were working last night. Thoughts?

As of today, neither sample songs on the music store nor songs already downloaded will play correctly.  They are stuttery and slow.  I have iTunes 10.5 and have not downloaded any upgrades for anything recently.  They were working last night. Thoughts or advice?

I found a solution that worked for me.  Here is what I did and where I found it.
"Looks like I tracked down the problem, it worked for me so I hope this works for everyone else experiencing problems.  Go to your Task Manager and locate the program APSDaemon.exe (Apple Push)..... if you see this executing terminate the program and then startup iTunes and it should come up fine.  You will see afterwards that APSDaemon.exe (Apple Push) starts back up but this is fine as long as iTunes has already started.
I tried playing both music and syncing up my iPhone with no problems.  Note if you shutdown iTunes again you will have to terminate the process APSDaemon.exe (Apple Push) again.  Haven't had time to see what in the world Apple Push is but this appears to have corrected the problem so that you can at least use iTunes and sync any device that needs to be synced.
    Hope that helps everyone!"

Thank you for your response. I am curious to know why if iTunes does not
answer non technical questions, why I received information when I replied to this
email. Listed below are the previous threads providing technical information.
Furthermore, if this is email is for billing disputes, I would like to have
my Mastercard credited $25.87 for a "gift this purchase/tv show" that I
purchased for my uncle on Christmas Day. I purchased the full first season of Monk.
I previously sent an email requesting credit on approximately January 2,
2006, and failed to receive a response. He never received the gift, or any
instructions about how to download the tv show, and I do not show a credit
appearing on my credit card. I would like to have credit for services not received.

    Dear Emily,
Thank you for contacting the iTunes Music Store. Use the steps in the
following article to troubleshoot your connection problem.
I have been unable to connect for more than 24 hours on Windows.
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Music Store for more than a
day—and other customers on our discussion boards aren't experiencing similar
issues—a software or ISP configuration issue may be blocking your access to
    the iTunes Music Store.
    • Your copy of the iTunes application may be out of date.
    • If iTunes is out of date, it will not be able to connect to the
iTunes Music Store. You can download the latest version of iTunes from our
    website: ?http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    • You installed a third-party anti-virus or personal firewall
    application.
    • You will need to configure your software to allow iTunes to access
the Music Store. You can contact the software manufacturer if you have
questions regarding configuration. Click here for more information.
    • You upgraded to Windows XP Service Pack 2.
    • Windows XP Service Pack 2, by default, enables the Windows Firewall.
As with a third-party firewall, you will need to configure Windows Firewall
to allow iTunes to access the Music Store. Read this document for more
information. If you have further questions about configuring the Windows Firewall,
    contact Microsoft's Service Pack 2 hotline at (888) SP2-HELP.
    • You upgraded to a high-speed or wireless Internet connection.
    • A new DSL or cable modem, or even a router, could be the culprit.
These devices allow your computer to access the Internet at a much higher speed,
or route your connection to multiple computers. However, they can also expose
your computer to hackers. To help prevent this, manufacturers of these
products often install firewalls to prevent hackers and viruses from compromising
your system. Although this layer of protection is beneficial, there are
occasions when a device may determine that the iTunes Music Store is a threat to the
computer. If this is the case, you will need to configure these devices to
allow iTunes to access the Music Store. Contact your ISP or the device
manufacturer if you need help configuring your device.
    • You switched to a new ISP.
    • If you didn't install new networking hardware, your ISP may be
blocking access to the iTunes Music Store. Let your ISP know about this document
which can help your them configure their servers to allow iTunes Music Store
    traffic through.
    Sincerely,
    The iTunes Music Store team

The error message I am receiving is "iTunes cound not connect to the Music

connect to the music store for at least 3-4 days. I have been using iTunes
since last October, successfully. I checked all my network connections & they
are fine. I am able to connect to AOL. I even uninstalled and reinstalled
iTunes several times, all successfully, but I am still encountering a problem.

Nice, effective customer service. I'm at my wit's end. I field customer service calls, and answer emails at work, and the general responses from the iTunes response library are ridiculous. Especially, after emailing me twice technical support emails, they tell me they do not handle technical support questions...
Any help or suggestions as to how I should respond to the next email is helpful...
I also forgot to mention I have been able to connect to iTunes since October 2005, and have been unable to connect for almost 2 weeks now. And, yes, I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes. I was advised over the phone to upgrade to XP Service Pack 2, but it looks like SP2 has issues. ANd, no, I did not download SP2, because the customer support rep admitted he knew nothing to very little about iTunes.
    Emily

    Emily,
thanks for your posting, it just reflects my experience (although I didn't contact the helpdesk, but after what you wrote I think I can skip that part). I am livin in China and buy from the German MS, worked fine until about a week ago when the download of an album stopped just after 5 songs. I have never been able to connect to the shop ever since.
The interesting thing is, that I get a response from their server in the domain phobos.apple.com (phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/storeFront) which I would interpret that there can't be a problem which they always list (Antivirus, Firewall etc...)
So will there ever be somebody from Apple who is going to give a better explanation how to solve the problem ? Or are there already too many people buying iPods and music ???

  • Help - I can't connect to the Music Store anymore

Today I have had the message "iTunes could not connect to the Music Store. The network connection was reset." This was after it tried for a few minutes. Everything else - playlists, accessing Gracenote CDDB for CDs, playing my songs - seems to be working fine. (It's iTunes 6.0.4).
It's seems to be suggesting I have an internet connection problem, but I don't! Safari, Mail, limewire, they're all working fine.
It all happened after I pressed the 'See All' arrow next to the 'Just For You' selection on the front page (which I've never tried before). Earlier today I had a problem with one CD which wouldn't read one track properly which meant I had to 'force quit' iTunes, but I was able to access the Music Store when I relaunched, or at least the front page anyway.
Since then I have repaired permissions, restarted, but the problem is still there. I have tried other user accounts and the problem is in all accounts. I have had a look in /Library for Preferences or Application Support folders at the System level that might be the problem, but there aren't any. What do I do now - reinstall iTunes 6 (if I still have the DVD)? What happens to all my playlists and songs and purchases and previews etc if I do that?
    iMac G5 17" 1.5Gb RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Ok, this is an update and then I'm going off to bed, so if anyone has any bright ideas I will see them first thing.
I now wonder if limewire may be the problem, even though it is 'listening' currently on port 33782 which is nowhere near to iTunes or anything else for OS X. Why? Because up until today, I could only connect to limewire during the daytime - evenings and weekends it wouldn't connect and discussion forums suggest that tiscali (my ISP) is one of the worst offenders for blocking UDP traffic at peak times and may be specifically targeting limewire. Today, when I have had the problem with iTunes Music Store, I have been able to connect to limewire all day and all evening, no problems.
However the problem with this theory is that when I could connect previously to limewire only during the day, I could still connect to the Music Store as well at the same time. So it may be irrelevant.
I have checked everything else from the article - the discussion boards, keychain access, firewall, it all checks out. So if anyone has any ideas about this, I'd be very happy.

  • I can't connect to the music store

every time i try to connect to the music store i get an error message that says, "iTunes could not connect to the music store. An unknown error has occured (-9812).
Make sure you network connection is active and try again."
my network connection is fine and it won't let me connect. What can i do?

It may have nothing at all to do with your internet connection, as you know!
    1. Right click on "iTUNES SETUP". If it is in this menu, select "unblock." If it is not in the right-click menu, go on to PROPERTIES and search through the tabs or advanced settings for "unblock" and click on OK.
    2. Go back to iTunes Setup and double-click. When prompted with the choice, select REPAIR. Finish and restart the computer.
    3. Go back into iTunes and try to connect to the Music Store. Most likely you will be prompted to ACTIVATE THIS COMPUTER. Go through that and voila!
Hope this helps! If not try searching Apple Discussions using "itunes and windows xp" for other suggestions.

  • Error -208 : There was an error in the music store

This is truly getting old. I made the jump from 5.0.1 (which had sound problems) to 6 last night. I can play my music I imported from CD just fine (skips every now and then). But, when I try to play any of the music I paid handsomely for through iTunes, I first got other errors. Now, this morning, it's Error -208: There was an error in the music store.
    What is the problem here?
Is the problem with the music store or with iTunes 6?
When can a truly working fix be expected?
Whatever happened to Apple's QA? Every upgrade of iTunes since 4.7 causes more and more problems. I'm embarassed because I recommended a friend buy the new iPod two weeks ago. He's probably cussing me out left and right at the moment. And, these problems aren't just relegated to us Window's folk - the Mac folks are having their share of problem as well.
I am running on Windows 2000 SP 4 on an ASUS motherboard with 1GB RAM. I meet the minimum recommended requirements.
When can I expect the situation to be remedied?

Ok. I read just about everything on in this discussion group and Apple notes.
I then declared all out war on this this evening. I won.
    Here's what I did:
    1. Assumption - you have Norton AV or Norton System Works installed. I suppose it will work if you have NIS installed.
    2. Removed ALL my anti-spyware programs (i.e. Spybot 1.3 and Microsoft's Anti-Spyware).
    3. Rebooted.
    4. Opened up Norton AV settings in Norton System Works and selected Internet Worm Protection.
    5. Under Applications - Added iTunes and iTunes Helper. Set operation to PERMIT ALL.
    6. Under "General Rules", I added a new rule named "iTunes".
    7. Under the "Communications Tab", I added a rule to allow UDP traffic to both local and remote ports 5353.
    8. Rebooted.
    9. This time, when the system started, I got a message indicating that "application iTunes is trying to access the internet." Clicked on "Remember and allowed the operation.
At this point, things started working.
The removal of the Anti-spyware programs MAY or MAY NOT be necessary. I will add them back in to see if they make any difference or not.
Now - Apple, my suggestion to you is to PUBLISH the ports and protocols and network targets. I was only able to gleam the ports used because Sygate indicated that iTunes was using UDP port 5353 to communicate.
