Album to dvd to TV

I have no problems (this time) with making albums and running slideshows on the laptop, but when burning that album to a dvd (export and burn) the sequences are going back to the Nikon/iPhoto Library date sequence and therefore out of album order..... Any suggestions on how to keep the album seq. in order for the export and burn... thanks

Wayne:
The default sort that you're running into an alphanumeric sort by file name. So to get around that export from the Album using the "Use album name" option in the File Export window. That will rename the files sequentially as "album name-01.jpg", "album name-02.jpg", etc. That will keep your predetermined order when every you view the files in the Finder or other application.

  • Trying to burn an album to DVD in PSE10

Right clicked on an album for "Export to DVD" and a little preview window opened & downloaded 360 images for 10-12 minutes, it closed, then I put a DVD in the tray & the program automatically started to burn to it for about 10 seconds. I checked the DVD and it only had nine images.
Tried the whole process again and got 7 images on this DVD.  Why won't all 360 images in the album burn to the DVD [when they apparently all download to the "Preview" window?]

OK, I’ll buy some different DVD’s this weekend and try them and let you
    know.
Just wondering…with PSE7 when I would open a burned DVD the images come
right up.  With PSE10 I get 6 files, most of which are full of data; and
when I open the Root folder/file, then the index file and then I have to
open three more files to get to the images.  Why is PSE10 so much more
complicated to get to the pictures?

  • Is there a way to burn multiple smart albums to DVD?

I just finished shooting a wedding.  I have made a number of smart albums for Reception, Dance, Ceremony, etc...
Now I would like to burn all of these albums onto one DVD to send to the client.  But I would like each album to be in its own folder on the DVD.  I could go the long way and export each album into a folder on the desktop and then put them all in a burn folder.
Is there a more automated way of doing this, such as a plugin maybe?  After a little searching I found BurnToDisc from Blue Room software but it looks like you can only select one album at a time to burn to DVD.  I would like to be able to select all 8 or 9 albums and have them burned in one operation.
    Thank you for any help
    Bo

    As I wrote:
There's only one problem, I'm not sure if this will work for smart albums in folders.
so unfortunately I was right. Smart Albums behave differently then regular Albums one of the biggest differences is the way Folders and Smart Albums interact.
With a regular album if it is in a folder clicking on the folder shows the images in the album. With smart albums this doesn't happen, the folder doesn't show the images in the smart albums it contains.
A few work arounds off the top of my head:
convert the smart albums into regular albums. With the smart album selected and in browser mode click on the magnifying glass icon at the top right to open the browser filter HUD. At the bottom of the filter HUD is a button New Album with Current Images click it and a regular album with the images from the smart album will be created. Once you've done this to the smart albums the procedure I wrote should work.
You could manually create the folders in the Finder and export each smart album individually to the corresponding folder you created.
Let us know if either of those work for you,
    regards

  • How to burn folders and albums to dvd

how can I burn some folders and the albums it contains into a dvd?¿
    Message was edited by: vldmkr

Where will these folders/images be used?
If for another iPhoto user or for back up purposes then select the Albums and go Share -> Burn
If for use on a WIndows Machine or for someone who doesn't use iPhoto, then export the Albums to folders on the desktop and burn those with the Finder.

  • Burning Smart Albums to DVD

    Hi
I've generated a few trial smart albums from my main library before making any serious use of them and the behaviour when burning one or more of them to a DVD seems very odd to me, in fact useless, and I wonder if someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.
The scenario is this. I create a smart album containing say all the photos of one particular person, the photos are "pulled" from a large number of different events. I then highlight the generated smart folder which contains say 210 pictures that the individual appears in and use the Share->Burn command to burn the images to a DVD. What actually happens is that all the albums that the individual pictures have been pulled from are burned to the disc rather than just the photographs that contain this particuler person. So, instead of the 210 pictures I wanted, which ALL contain that individual, I end up with in this case a disc containing 94 events, a total of 5443 images which include the 210 images with this particular person in them, which isn't what I want at all!
I'm selecting the option to burn the disc in the format that can be read by iPhoto, ie. a library disc.
    Thank you.
    Q

When you did the burn did you select just the Smart Album icon in the left hand pane before using the Share ➙ Burn menu option? What version of iPhoto are you running?
I just ran a test in iPhoto 9.4.2 burning a smart album.  What I got is shown in this screenshot:
The original SA had 232 photos in it. The SA in the disk "mini" library had the same 232 photos but also the 40 Events that those 232 photos came from.
Make sure you select just the Smart Album in the left hand pane before using the Share ➙ Burn menu.

  • Burning an Album to DVD

Can anybody please help? I have created an iPhoto album comprising 50 photos mostly taken on a 4.5 megapixel, 3:2 aspect ratio, setting with my Panasonic compact. I want to create a DVD to achieve the best possible picture quality, at maximum picture size, to show to friends and family on a widescreen TV. I particularly do not want a slideshow. I prefer to just index the photos at my own speed using the DVD controller. I have tried the "share" to DVD feature but the result is extremely poor. I have also tried using iDVD also without success (and its always a slideshow!). I have read and re-read the help topics in iDVD and have come to the conclusion that creating what I thought would be a very basic DVD format is more involved than I ever imagined. Surely it must be possible to
just save your photos to DVD for simple optimum viewing on TV?
I will be most grateful if somebody could post an idiot proof step by step guide to help me.
    regards Malcolm Sheppard

First, recognize that the quality of photos seen with a DVD on a TV is not going to be as high as what you see on your computer.
You can do what you want via at least two methods--one using iDVD and one burning in Finder.
1)Create a slideshow in iDVD that you can operate manually.
Create a slideshow by opening iDVD and selecting a theme.
Then, go to iDVD's Help file and search for 'Creating Slideshow' and follow those directions. (I tried to Copy/Paste these, but could not get them to Copy).
When setting the Slide Duration, you can select 'Manual' to allow you to advance the photos manually with your DVD remote.
    2) You can also do this by burning your photos to a DVD or CD disk from Finder. It will play on most new DVD players, the ones that play mp3s and CDs, and you will advance the photos manually.
To do this, export your iPhoto album to a folder on your desktop.
You should number the photos so that their order is maintained.
Then click once on the folder to highlight it and go to File->Burn "NameofFolder" Insert a blank disk and burn it.
You might want to try both methods and see which works the best for you.

  • Burn iphoto album to dvd

I successfully burned an album of photos that could be read by Windows (export to folder, burn folder). I'm not having any luck burning the same album directly from iPhoto.
The DVD appears on my desktop as "Untitled DVD." I select the album name in iPhoto and use the "Burn" function in "Share" ... and nothing happens. (I was expecting a window to open up asking about the target.)

Repair permissions with Disk Utility. If that doesn't help:
Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7+: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • Burn Events AND Albums to DVD

I would like to burn a copy of my iPhoto '08 library (which will fit on a single DVD) that will be re-mountable within iPhoto. However, it seems to allow me to EITHER burn all the events, but then no albums are retained OR burn all the albums, but then only photos which have been added to those albums are burned to disc. I would simply like to have a COMPLETE iPhoto library backup. The wrinkle is that most of the photos were not copied into the iPhoto Library folder/package, but rather referenced in an external folder. I would be willing to have iPhoto consolidate the originals from the external folder into a new single iPhoto Library package. Is there anyway to accomplish this?
    Thanks,
    JV

most of the photos were not copied into the iPhoto Library folder/package, but rather referenced in an external folder.
This is the worst case scenario - a mixed library, part managed, part referenced and is a recipe for disaster.
    This thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1356720&tstart=0
mentions an app called AliasHerder which will make the library a referenced one. Then you can simply use the Share -> Burn command to back up the library to a disk that
    will be re-mountable within iPhoto.
Simply make sure you have the Library selected in the iPhoto Window, not a particular Event or Album.

    There are two ways -
    1. Export your album with template onto the CD/DVD
Right click on Album and go to Burn CD/DVD
    2. Burning all Album files to CD/DVD ...

  • Copy albums to DVD

    Hi all,
I have organized my iphoto pictures into folders and albums. Now, I wish to copy a folder and its associated albums to a DVD. I tried to use the burn option and it worked. However, the backup lost all the organization and copied it in the original iphoto format (events). How can I copy to DVD retaining all the folder and album names?
    Regards.

You have to take the albums out of the folder, select them and use the Share ➙ Burn menu to get the albums to show up in the mini library that's created on the CD/DVD. You can send a feature request to Apple via via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html.

  • I can't synch my albums from DVDs to my iPad since I upgraded to ios7

It works on my iphone4 but not the ipad

    - il periodo in cui l'iTunes Match ha funzionato correttamente sull'iPad è durato solo qualche settimana;
    - in seguito, anche se tutti i brani della Cloud venivano visualizzati sull'iPad, dava problemi nel senso che i brani non venivano riprodotti e, inoltre, la durata veniva indicata in "zero" per tutti i brani, sicchè, cliccandoci, non venivano riprodotti;
    - ho provato a disattivare e riattivare l'iTunes Match e, a questo punto il dispositivo ha dato il messaggio "tutta la tua libreria musicale verrà sostituita con quella su iTunes Match", mentre, nell'applicazione "MUSICA" erano spariti tutti i brani: veniva visualizzata, al centro della pagina, la nuovoletta del Cloud, con una barra di download sotto. Questo è durato per circa quattro giorni, senza che succedesse nulla, nel senso che la barra del download non mostrava segni di caricamento;
    - allora ho provato a ripristanare le impostazioni e, a questo punto, erano visualizzati di nuovo i brani, ma comunque senza possibilità di riprodurli (la durata di nuovo indicata come "zero");
    - nel momento in cui ho provato a cliccare su uno dei brani, è riapparsa la nuvoletta del Cloud con la barra di download sotto;
    - quando i brani ricompaiono, hanno sempre durata zero e non vengono riprodotti;
    - ho attivato anche la condivisione in famiglia ma il problema non cambia.
Vi preciso che il mio iPad è della prima generazione ed è aggiornato all'IOS 6.

  • Aperture and other Pro Applications ( Final Cut, Motion, DVD Studio Pro )

    Hi folks,
I have bought Final Cut Studio a while back, and have been working with all the tools for a while now ( FCP, Motion and DVD Studio Pro ). Recently I also switched to Aperture to manage / capture / organise my digital photographs ( previously I used iPhoto ).
Now I was wondering how I could use the pictures from my Aperture library in Motion or DVD Studio Pro. When I look at the file Browser, I can easily use some iPhoto pictures, but apparently I can't seem to find anything for Aperture.
What I would like to do is use some pictures from Aperture in a Motion project and also include an Aperture album in DVD Studio as a SlideShow.
What would be the best way to do this ? Do I have to export the pictures I want to use ? Or am I missing something ?
    Regards,
    Stefaan

    Stefaan,
Unfortunately, that type of integration between the Pro Apps is not there (yet). It would definitely be a nice feature to have. We should all send feedback to Apple asking for this feature. For now, you will need to export photos for use in these other apps.
Along the same lines, I would also like to see integration with Aperture and the "iLife" programs. Since Aperture will likely replace iPhoto for at least some of us, it would be nice to be able to use Aperture photos in these apps as well.

  • How do you import music videos from a dvd into iTunes?

I have got a music cd and includs a music dvd. I want the music videos to be imported into iTunes so I can watch them on my iPod touch. How do I do this?

I had a friend who got a dual-format music album on DVD of the band Chicago for his birthday. He didn't have a system that could play the remixed 5.1 surround sound version on the DVD, but he could play it back in his Mac OS X on the DVD player in good old stereo. However, he wanted a copy he could play in his car CD player.
So I used Audio Hijack to record the output of the DVD played back as stereo through the Apple DVD player in Mac OS X. I had Audio Hijacj write the output to the hard drive as AIFF 16-bit 44.1KHz stereo. Then I used iTunes to burn it to a CD.
Of course it took 45 minutes to make a recording from a 45-minute audio program; it happened in real-time.
(This was all perfectly legal because he owns the DVD and he's using the CD recording as a backup audio copy for his own personal use--basically like ripping a CD you own for use in your iPod).
I did an a/b comparison between the original DVD and the AIFF recording I had generated, and I was pleasantly surprised by its good quality.
Since then I've been an Audio Hijack fan.
